Visited in Early October and there were quite a few tour buses, but after you were through the entrance it did not feel crowded at all. We thought it was a little pricey at first, but it's pretty good value for what you experience. Both my wife and I have mobility challenges, and the only drawback to an otherwise wonderful experience was that the walkways were gravel, which made getting around difficult. There's a lot to see and experience it offers visitors an immersive experience into the nation’s maritime heritage, featuring historic ships, a recreated 19th-century seafaring village, engaging exhibits, and beautiful waterfront scenes. Definitely worth the visit.

We had an incredible day with family at Mystic Seaport Museum and honestly did almost everything there was to do. The whole place is such a vibe, full of history, craftsmanship, and surprises around every corner. One of the highlights was catching the fireboat with its hoses on full blast—something we learned doesn’t happen very often. We watched the blacksmith at work, explored the cooperage, wandered through the historic ships, and soaked in the magic of this living museum by the water. We spent way more time there than planned and still didn’t see it all. Mystic Seaport is truly one of those places that keeps you discovering more at every turn.

This was such a fun experience! perfect for all ages and an ideal way to spend a cozy fall evening. The ambiance felt straight out of a PG-13 Halloween movie from the '90s, full of nostalgia and charm. It had that warm, festive energy of a small-town holiday market, bringing a real sense of community. Will visit again!

What a great experience for the whole family! Lots to learn! You can see ships being refurbished. And you can go onto Schooners! The historic buildings are amazing! Teaches you all about Ship Life! Places to eat and also a great gift shop!

regretted that we visited around 4p because we didn’t get to enjoy the whole ground and the museum. There are so much to see and the boats & the buildings are beautiful and valuable. I think you could spend the whole day at the museum. We enjoyed a lot. Thank you!

Came from out of state. Museum is set up like a seaport village. Most of it is self guided. We took our time & spent three hours in total. You do get a wrist band in case you want to leave for lunch & come back. It was a great experience!

With something for everyone, Mystic Seaport Museum is a must-do vacation stop. One can see skill craftspersons in the process of restoring historic sea craft or recreating life in a seaside town in the early 1800s. Great for the whole family. Kids will especially love going on board the last wooden whaling ship the children's museum. Not into ships, history, or old architecture? Then visit in the spring and summer and see some of the most beautiful floral arrangements Ive seen in a long time.

My husband and I were passing through and stopped to visit the Mystic Seaport Museum. What an interesting place of history! The staff were friendly and enjoyed answering our questions. It was really neat to step aboard the Charles Morgan... so cool to see where these whalers lived and worked for 4-6 months at a time. Would have loved to spend a little more time here.

What a great experience here. Learn alot about whales and the historic of vessels. So much history. They had a boat cruise, boat rentals, and many more things to do there. There's food and drinks there in the village at little shop. You need to start early for this. You will have a busy day to experience different area of the village.

From the moment we walked inside to purchase our tickets to the time we left, Mystic Seaport Museum didn’t disappoint. The staff were very friendly! We toured most of what was offered. I think our favorite was the shipyard. It was incredibly interesting watching active restoration projects. The amount to view and experience was so much more than we realized. This was a wonderful stop for us on our New England road trip.

Prepare to take a whole day to see all the Seaport has to offer . A large and varied collection of buildings, history and art. Food offerings are limited so consider bringing a picnic lunch .A little high priced but worth the cost. Consider taking the short boat cruise for an additional eight dollars to get a waterside view.

Great place for families and history lovers! You can explore historic ships, walk through 18th- and 19th-century village houses, see boats being restored, and enjoy kids’ workshops and exhibits. Plenty to do and learn, with clean facilities and easy parking. Plan to spend a few hours here—highly recommended!

Really nice museum with outdoor and indoor exhibits. We paid $44/adult and $22/youth. We had an amazing time. The museum was nice, not too crowded and with nice live explanations when needed. Learning was also pleasant. Easy with kids. The outdoor area was pet friendly except inside the boats.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A must-stop while visiting Mystic! I was completely surprised by how good this experience was. The museum is very kid-friendly and perfect for families. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes — it’s definitely a minimum 3-hour tour with so much to see and do. I highly recommend staying with the guides, as they make the history come alive and really enhance the experience. An unforgettable stop that I’ll be telling others about!

Wife and I were kinda hesitant because of the price but honestly, it's pretty good value for what you experience. We visited on a late August Tuesday and while there weren't as many staff as may have been on a weekend, it was still very informative. There's a lot to see, you can easily spend most of the day here. We spent 3hrs here and while we hit many exhibits and staff demonstrations we didn't do everything possible. There are self guided buildings and many with staff educational assistance. These folks are passionate and knowledgeable about the history of Mystic seafaring history with a particular focus on whaling but there's so much to explore. You can see how people lived, shopped, ate, cooked and worked all focusing on the diversity of life around a sea community. I'd return again and try to hit the planetarium if nothing else. This is definitely worth the time.

Wonderful place to spend the day. If you like water and boats, the Seaport is an excellent option to visit. I love the DuPont Shipyard where big wooden boats are restored ir brought in fir maintenance. The Planetarium is worth checking out. Great star shows.

Excellent museum with exhibits for everyone from history of whaling, ship building, black history, and indigenous culture around ship building and fishing. There are multiple buildings with exhibits, boats to walk onto, and even a little village of historic buildings and homes set up to be period accurate that you can walk through. I loved the New York fire fighting boat tour! It's a shame it is going away by May 2026 so please go see it before it's gone. So much to see! I can't believe it took me this long to visit. Go check it out!

We (2 adults) visited on a very hot day at the beginning of the summer. I absolutely loved the feel of walking around a replica of a 19th-century fishing village. There were so many storefronts to check out and the ships were beautiful, too. This is a gem of a place and we are fortunate to have it continuing to operate after nearly a century. There was an incredible exhibit in the gallery while we were there. I truly appreciated becoming more informed about the experience of African-Americans from a 21st-century perspective. It was hot enough that day that we unfortunately didn't get to explore as much as I wanted. This is definitely a place I would love to return to, perhaps on a fall weekend.

Incredible museum for the whole family! Adults will love the well curated exhibits, history, theaters and knowledgeable guides. Kids will love the outdoor and indoor play spaces, boat building and theater players. I’ve visited many museums and this is now a favorite. Highly recommend!

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years now. And now I can enjoy it with my son. We drove here from Brooklyn and it felt like we took a machine back in time. I love this place! My son had so much fun today and I may have even had more fun than him. First I love how you can walk through all the buildings and not just read about how they lived but actually see it! Everything is as it was from that exact period, untouched and authentic. I noticed they did so many upgrades since I was here the last time. I was speechless. It’s worth so much more than they charge. Every house and building is an experience. And many of the buildings you could not enter years ago are no open and have such amazon displays. It’s very informative. I recommended coming early so you don’t have to rush. There is so much to digest, it takes hours. You definitely don’t want to rush this trip. Ugh, the ships - you can actually go inside and see how they slept etc. Hands down one of the best museums on the East Coast. This place doesn’t get the recognition it deserves! It’s educational and fun for everyone. Ah, the selfie posts places so strategically in all the right spots! How did y’all know ?had to be a woman who decided to do that! Everything here is just amazing! You learn so much I can go on and on all day. My so was running into all the exhibits with so much excitement. They have restaurants and seating as well. They also have a boat tour that was so relaxing and informative. The museum in Seaports entrance, phenomenal. They have videos and visuals and diorama’s as well as life size authentic actual tools that give you so much insight into how things were done from using whale blubber to making ropes and sails for boats. They have playrooms for kids and even a shop that you can make a sail boat! All the upgrades and changes made here make this one of my top 10 weekend trips. There are tours and people who show how the machines and devices were used. There are workers who show you and explain everything. You see how newspapers were made back then. Listen, I recommend. I loved this place before the changes and now I love it even more. This place can’t get any better! I can’t wait until I come back again!

There is so much to do and see at this museum, you can easily spend an entire day and still not see everything, especially if you're interested in maritime, whaling, and New England history. The entire place is constructed as a village with amenities sprinkled throughout and is very pleasant to leisurely stroll through enjoying yourself and taking it all in. The entire family enjoyed it, there is something is here everybody can appreciate! Lots of parking across the road and quick entry!

This was a very fun museum. All the staff were very kind and knowledgeable about their particular area of craft. The history was amazing to learn about. It was also much bigger than I thought and could easily have taken us the entire day. We also did a show at the planetarium and it was really fun!

Mystic Seaport was very educational. We boarded the Morgan Ship, it was very interesting seeing and hearing the stories of how many people were on the ship and how hard life used to be for all of our ancestors. What life was like back then was hard compared to the technology we have today. I can see how people took so much pride in their jobs and we should all remember the sacrifices and the hard work they put into making their lives livable in a way most of us will never understand. A great place to put your self into perspective with how we can take our lifestyles; rich or poor and in between we have a much easier way of life. The Volunteers were awesome and did a great job Above and beyond. Rich in the Coopers area was sweating to death in the coopers studio with only a fan but gave a great presentation and was very impressed by him and all the Volunteers we encountered. Also learned a lot in the general store. I’m a lover of antiques so I knew what a lot of the things in their we’re used for so it was cool to see my love of antiques has taught me a smidge about how things ran.

Mystic Seaport is a maritime museum, the largest in the US. It was founded in 1929 and is on 19 acres nestled right on the Mystic River. There is a historic village and ships right on the water. These buildings were restored and they recreated a seafaring village; they did a great job with that. I felt like I was walking back in time. We enjoyed walking into the old homes and church. There was one converted into a children's museum. The Charles W. Morgan whaling ship is located there. It's a wooden ship built in 1841. We were able to walk in it; it's so cool to see all the living quarters and what life was like as a fisherman. There were other ships and a planetarium too. It's definitely a full day thing. I definitely recommend a visit if you're into history!

Wonderful place, staff were very engaging for the most part. Museum set out in an engaging and informative manner about ships used for whaling in early 19th century. Period-appropriate houses used as businesses that would be appropriate in the time period.

Great place for a family! We have 6 kids and each of our kids would much rather have a membership here than other places around. There is a good rotation of different events and activities throughout the year. This place is worth every penny. You are able to tour many historical ships and if you go on the right day you can even use a paddleboat or rowboat for free with entry tickets. If you’ve never visited, this place is a must!!

Absolutely LOVED this museum! Plan for a whole day! We visited in the afternoon then came back the next day to finish. You can do this because they let you come back within 7 days of purchasing admission. There is so much to do! Summer camp was happening and it looked really fun. Great boat rides... Captain Liz was the BEST! Great demonstrations...the whaling boat demo was incredible. The toy boat building ($8 extra) was totally worth it to not have to get the glue gun and craft supplies out at home.
