What clients say about Global Materials Recycling Center in Vista Santa Rosa (CA)

Hard to know which line to get in for recycling only. Especially for a first timer. Once in the right area everything went smoothly. Great recycling center but the entrance, when coming from the south could be better posted.

This place is gross, and its not the garbage, its thats there they force you to buy a safety vest and glasses for no reason the staff is beyond rude, and they see the customers as a inconvenience more then a customer. Never going back to this place. 0 stars

Make sure to weigh your cans beforehand. The people working there are very friendly to regulars but if you are not a regular they will short you on your weight, double tear, etc. Increase your chances of being treated fairly by dressing planely. If you look like you are well off they will cheat you. Do not go alone and have your partner observing them to ensure proper buyback price.

It wasn't busy at 9 a.m. which I feel was fortunate for the time. I haven't been here in years and it had updated the operation! There is a 100 lb. Limit on aluminum and plastic which is something to beware of! The workers were very friendly and helpful! Thank you!

I must tell you, how great the guys were and how kind. I am badly handicapped and they took Notice and went out of the way to help me. I was so grateful. Many thanks, great job guys.David.

No where on the website does it say they don't take couches or old furniture here. No where in their pricing list sheet does it state it either. Don't take your old furniture here as they'll rudely refuse you and tell you to go to Petaluma. Be transparent and clear! Waste of time. Not impressed. Zero stars if possible.

Big price increase, up to a $50 minimum now. And, the help (employees) at the scales were not friendly. Minimal wait was only reason for 3 stars.

Be sure to bring your California Driver's license or some form of CA.ID or they will not honor the recycling. The actual site seems to be a bit more clean but l am disappointed they do not accept newspaper, cardboard and no plastic without the Ca.CRV inscription. The turn-over of employees is disheartening. The staff still has a few friendly people but l find that rude far out ways what used to be a great group of people. Checks are issued so be prepared for that type of payment.

The prices here have exploded. Pure highway robbery now in 2022. Way to provide a service to the community! It used to be 45$ to dump yard waste last year. Got charged over 100$ for the same amount April 22. Took 2000 lbs of concrete block here and was charged $174.00! For recycling it! Took another 2000 lbs of same concrete block to a popular Landscape supply to recycle on Petaluma Hill road just past Yolanda ave. They charged me $74.00 Done with this ripoff at global material recovery!

I have to be completely honest here...I really felt uncomfortable here for this last visit. Let me explain. This was my 2nd visit here. Like my first visit, I was very fortunate to be one of 2 people bringing in recycling. That was fantastic. The first time I was there I just followed the examples of how to proceed of the other people there. This time I'd crushed my cans. The holes in bin were too large for some of my cans. None of the 6 people working there said one word until AFTER I brought my cans up. They then rudely stated I needed to grab a plastic can for crushed Cans. I didn't see them until they showed them, and no one else was using them. After making me feel foolish for not understanding the process without signs nor directions, plus waiting until after was just wrong. I then went to go get my check. Again no signs or directions. When last there the people before me walked over to window and back to car. This time I did it and noticed there were chains set up. I stepped over one as no one else was ahead of me. After I get check, I go to walk back to car and it was at this point another of the guys just standing around tells me I can't walk through because his boss doesn't like it. So why in the hell aren't there any signs explaining how they'd like you to do recycling? Why do they wait until after to say anything creating a problem where none is needed. I'd understand if they were busy, as no direction would be needed, but with them all just standing around twiddling their thumbs did no one stop me or say "hey do you mind?" so I could actually help make process easier for all? Apparently after you get your check on one side you're to drive around to the other side, park, and then turn slip in. You must use plastic bin for crushed Cans, but not uncrushed ones.

My first visit, Friday 9am, after my 15minute wait they weighed my truck, then directed me to unload. Attendant was cheerful and offered a biscuit for my puppy. Next attendant directed me where to unload 2000+ pounds of debris then directed me where to reweigh and pay. I have nothing to complain about, I arrived early and left within 20minutes for a reasonable Cost! Everyone was pleasant & professional! TY!

It's great to cash in my recyclables. You are in and out quickly. Even if there is a line it moves pretty fast. I always have alot so I get to go around to the quicker side. It's really good!!

The only reason I gave a 4☆ is that there checks they cut you for the buy back recycling program. They use JP Morgan chase financial services and have it set up where checks that get cut that day don't get released till the next day if you want to cash it at your own bank, witch mine is also Chase bank. So I deposited it through the atm the next day at 4:30am on my way to work and they put a hold on it for 5 days. And the check was only 31$, it was all a pain. Other than that I like the place for recycling, they are fast, efficient and professional. Also I belive you can recycle bulk metal to like copper, aluminum, brass and steel. It was very fast, in and out within 15 minutes and the parking spaces were full to so it wasn't just me there.

It’s not the same service I’m use to there since they changed owners. There is definitely favoritism by the employees towards friends and family. Line jumping and I even heard the employee that was at the scales for redeemable recycling yell at a customer for trying to obtain the proper weighable containers they use to weigh out what we are turning in. Because now the only give you two of them at a time. Instead of the amount you need to transfer your items for redemption.

My daughter recycles the cans from my sparkling water obsession. You have to separate the glass and plastic bottles by color. For the most part they are fast and efficient. They forgot to put a name on the redemption check, so we will need to return soon.. The line can get very long in the afternoon.

Difficult experience yesterday. We waited for over 90 minutes to get in. BUT the worst part was that they shut the entrance down for 45 minutes for one couple with a truck...who had many bags. It was not unti three minutes after that couple left that they allowed customers to enter the parking lot. We were at the front of the line...and entered an empty parking lot with 10 other cars and trucks behind us. Then staff members hassled us and yelled at us over and over again...over nonsense and nonissues. RIDICULOUS.

Bad service workers are just standing around and not helping. My weight on bottle was some how off part of time. And older guy Reymundo never writes down he jus calls it out. Doesn’t even do the work he talks and tells you what to do won’t go back.

Being one of the only services in town does not give you the right to treat your customers poorly. The people on the recycling side are very nice, however the women that work in the trailer at the scales are extremely rude, have really nasty attitudes and act as if customers are an inconvenience. Minimum charge of 48$ for mixed loads fyi. I do not recommend going here.

Is this the only recycle center in Santa Rosa? I tried calling the phone number and it rings a few times and goes to voicemail and instruct you to call the scale center and gives the phone number. Why do you have a phone number if nobody answers it? Why are you changing your hours for the winter when you’re the only recycle center in Sonoma County open on weekends? I made the mistake of attempting to come here at 11:30AM on Saturday, 9/21/19. Santa Rosa Ave was completely blocked in the southbound direction due to the trucks waiting to turn into this place and I couldn’t even turn in from Santa Rosa Ave. Cars were driving in the suicide lane to get around. I waited 10 minutes and decided to leave. Don’t bother with this place in Saturday! Sonoma County needs more recycle centers.

This place is a scam!....Super rude tatted up White boy with pony tail who was super rude thinks he owns the place. But in reality he is the bottom female dog of everyone there. He was giving the wrong weight to the man who jots them down and after hands them to you to go get your check. No longer will be going there to wait in line for over an hour to get robbed. Reason being that the prior time I had gone there I almost got the same amount of $ than the last time I was just there and the prior time I had taken half the amount of recycle. But then again I was helped out by a different person who didn't seem to have anything up his keester hole.

Cars on the right are for the recycling, trucks on the left are for the dump or whatever the business is on the left. The queue always spills out to the street so drive slow when approaching. Called twice due to the conflicting business names at the same location giving to different times of closure. The phone staff seemed really disgruntled to answer the phone. Were very quick to hang up but I see wahy.... this county needs more recycling centers!!! A line of vehicles onto the street to get into the place during my lunch break 2:15pm?!?! The price for can redemption seems fair but the queue for this place is horrendous. Will try one more time at a, earlier time frame. Update: the parking situation is chaotic having to wait for the person in front of you to finish in order to get out. Best have your items organized before arriving making it easier for everyone and yourself Separate glass colors! Staff are very helpful and accommodating. You will have to quickly sign in if you've never been here before with ID.

I have been coming here for more than 30 years. If you drive a Mercedes, this isn't likely to be the place for you. You'll likely soil your car's interior after walking around in the remnants of sodas and adult beverages. This place is the one to visit if you have a year worth of recyclables and want to unload them all at the same location. Knowing the drill will help: 1. Before you arrive, sort all glass by color. They will accept non-redemption glass but it must also be separated from the redemption glass and also by color. 2 When you arrive, dump your glass in to the plastic containers provided on site. 3. Dump your aluminum and plastic in to the wire baskets (separately) provided on site. 4. Drag all of your recyclables together to the scale. 5. After it has all been weighed, you will be given a redemption tag. Go to the window to receive your check. If you are over a certain dollar amount, you will be asked for ID.

I have been taking my recycling to Global Materials for close to 6 years and I have never had a bad experience there. All the employee's are very nice and helpfull. You are in and out quick. I would give them a 100 star rating if I could.

'found this company & location after Re-Planet closed up 17 of their venues locally last month. Open every day, helpful staff and enough capacity to get in and out quickly. The locally donated bread and pastry's are a nice touch.
