After I bought a $10 taillight, they installed it for me for no extra fee--I really appreciated that, because even if I could have figured it out, I didn't have the tools to even get it open myself. Nixon was very quick and thorough.

I always have a great experience here- staff is super helpful & friendly. Recently stopped in to have my headlamp fixed & the employee also recommended a product to help clean my headlights- and it worked wonders! And it was only $15 - very pleased.

Poor service, lazy employees … I walked in, could not find what I was looking for, stood patiently at the counter as 3 employees talking casually and joking with s single customer who was wearing an O’Reilly Auto Parts jacket and speaking in Spanish. Each of them looked at me as they continued their conversation and I continued to stand there patiently. When finished the customer paid and all three employees walked away - the customer in the O’Reilly jacket asked them in Spanish who was going to help me and they looked at him and commented “not me” and continued to walk away, he again asked who was going to “be responsible” in Spanish - I responded in Spanish asking the same and at least 2 of the employees stopped and looked at me - a middle-aged caucasian male - I asked again if someone was willing to assist me - no one responded. I don’t need to waste my time and money in a business that treats customers like this. I’m done with O’Reilly and the company should consider firing the management of this location as the leadership / supervision of these lazy employees is pitiful.

Carlos at O'Reilly's on 1323 Second street, San Rafael, CA was amazing! After struggling with a dead battery twice over several weeks and $250 in costly jump start services trying to avoid an expensive repair, Carlos installed a $200 new battery in about 20 minutes for free, saving us $400 compared to the Volvo dealership and a lot of time trying to figure out how to do it. I don't recommend DIY unless you know what you are doing. The team working that day were all eager and being very knowledgeable and helpful to all customers and so grateful for Carlos for his excellent service to make what seemed to us a very difficult situation into an easy one It made a extremely frustrating situation so much easier. Highly recommend Carlos, the team working that day and OReilly's because of them and Carlos!

What I needed was in stock (wiper blade replacement) and the employee even recommended a less expensive one. Unlike many auto parts stores (and hardware stores, come to that) the employees here DID NOT assume I needed help installing the wiper blade. Much appreciated!!!

Conveniently and statistically to be en route. It had the brake light bulb I needed shortly after someone honked and told me at a red light EASTBOUND ON THE MIRACLE MILE. Despite the situational convenience, the purchase line as very long and the PERFECTLY LOCATED parking lot is dangerously busy and difficult to get out of.

My gf and I noticed a turn signal out in our Prius while driving home at night. In the olden days I would have gotten a bulb and installed it myself, but now my hands don't do well with those tight spaces. We pulled in to the 2nd St. store in San Rafael and both Ryan and Nixon took turns working on it between taking care of other customers. It was so kind of them to help out older folks. These 2 gentlemen deserve a raise!!! And, of course, I'll be taking all my car business to this store!!!

My car battery had given out on me and I was using my portable jumping cables to get where I needed to be, until I found the right size for my battery. Last night ( 11.20.2024) I purchased the right battery for my car via the web. I came right over and Luis and Oliver put my car battery in while it was raining hard without hesitation or complaint. I think I hugged Oliver after he told me to start the car. My anxiety and frustration ceased and I got home and was able to start my car up this morning for work without my jumping cables. Ahhh I thank you both, I know you're just doing your job but you did it in the rain and calmed my fears! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Highly recommend. Oscar and Nixon were so kind and helpful - above and beyond. They helped me find the exact part I needed, helped me figure out exactly how to install it and troubleshoot it and double check it. They were knowledgeable and thorough. Could not be more grateful to have found them when I needed car help!

Went to O'Reilly Auto Parts this morning to purchase license plate frames and windshield wiper blades. Leo assisted me and he is the greatest. He helped me choose the correct wiper blades for my vehicle and installed them for me. My husband is the person that usually goes to O'Reilly's but with such great service and care I'll being going there myself when need be. Thank you Leo!

Sufficient inventory and generally a credible source of technical input. I do well with it as supplementary to previous researching. They've always pushed me to the better side of any fence. Which really counts actually.

Had a terrible and condescending customer service experience at a different location in San Rafael. This one was heads and tails above the other. Friendly staff, helpful, and a clean store. Will definitely go back again

Only entrance to this store is from D street entrance. Advised not to come in from 2nd street as it’s the exit ramp (not entrance ramp). And best to enter from Northbound D street as if you try to enter from Southbound D street, you will sure to block the through traffic that will back up horribly in the intersection. This place was very busy at 4-5 pm that no parking spaces were left. I recommend to shop in the morning or early afternoon. 2nd Street & D street get very congested in the afternoon and will be difficult to enter & exit the parking lot.

I have been going to this location for auto parts before oreilly owned it. Staff have always been nice. Yesterday A young sales associate was inpatient and dismissive. I know enough about cars to ask questions and this guy was arrogant and dismissive. I like to support our local businesses but I just went home and ordered what I needed on amazon in response to your comment... My problem is not that you don't have parts that I want to buy but that your staff member attempted to make me feel like I was not competent. If you want to reach your goals of high service he needs training about how to listen and be patient with customers.

I have been coming here for years, but recently I feel this location takes special care in their customers. Great selection of well-stocked parks I wanted to give huge props to William and Michael, who time and time again have been a tremendous help. They diagnosed my car 3-4 separate times, all at my request. They also caught some odd behavior during the test which helped me find the source of my issues. I am very particular about my car. In all my visits, both Michael and Wiliam were never condescending and always happy to share their expertise with any of my questions, simple or complex. I will always come to this location whenever convenient and I highly recommend you do the same.

I do not care how many times I've gone into O'Reilly's on 2nd Street in San Rafael, if one of two young guys helps me, they have sold me the wrong part everytime! Then when you bring it back, they always say it's Your Fault! And they refuse to give back your money! I only go in when the older guys are there, at least they know something about mechanics, and don't pretend to know everything like those two Idiots think they know!

I just have to give a shout out to Michael at the store in San Rafael, CA off D and 2nd street!!! He was super nice and changed both my headlights in the dark parking lot while I watched and asked a bunch of questions lol if there was a 100/100 for customer service and being super knowledgeable I would rate it. Thanks again, I appreciate the quick fix so I can get home safely in the dark! :)

I don't love O'Reilly's but this location is exceptional and has excellent customer service from people who have worked there awhile and know what they are doing. I am my own mechanic and shop here when I need oil change supplies and other supplies for basic maintenance. They have testing equipment to test alternator and starter, etc..

not sure if he was just having a bad day but the employee michael who “helped” me seemed bothered that i asked him to check on a product in stock. gave short one word answers, his tone made me feel like i was wasting his time. next time i’ll go to a different location.

Standard O'Reillys. Helpful staff. Will help with replacing windshield wipers and batteries without extra charge. Open later (I think 9ish, except Sunday), than most auto parts places, which is nice.

Most of the employees here are supremely helpful people who know what they are talking about. Just remember, it's an auto part store. Not a mechanic! If You want someone to diagnose the strange noise under the hood, go spend the money. These folks are there to help you find what you need. You have to know your need! There is only one person I would recommend avoiding. He is a shorter latino gentleman who seemingly never smiles. He will not budge an inch to help. Otherwise it is a great place with awesome people!

I went in for transmission fluid since my transmission seemed like it was shifting hard and the light had just turned on. One of the girls asked if I needed help, and I declined since I already had the transmission fluid and coolant, I was just trying to finalize my decision on a fuel system cleaner for a rough idle. I think I chose the right one for my problem when she came around and asked again. I looked up as I described the idle issue (as she coincidentally grabbed three bottles of the one I had chosen), she said “it’s probably from bad gas, I would get the one you’ve chosen.” Made me feel more confident about my choice. 😎 I went outside, added a little to the oil, some to the gas, started the car to add my transmission fluid... and 🤦♀️ it was already full. However, it was immediately running smoother! 🙏 Drove across the street, filled up the gas and it was smooth sailing from there! 🤩 I wish I got her name, but I hope this gets to her. Thanks girl!

Not enough auto parts stores in Marin. These guys are ... Pretty good. They mostly know there stuff... Make sure you confirm visually yourself the pricing when ordering say ... 4 rotors. I was given a price for "front" and a price for "back." I asked the cashier to clarify if the price for "front" and or "back," included both front rotors and or both back rotors. Cashier confirmed .... Well, when i started shopping i realized it did not in fact. Which is actually a small slip but if that makes me leary of their ability to read or understand their software screen and ifbthat... What else? Other than that, the store is usually stocked and if not can have parts there by next day. Good location with easy parking. Nice staff.
