Wow! The staff at this facility are absolutely mentally unstable. We got screamed at by the lady for not knowing what to do relating to scrapping our items. And another customer walked in asking questions about what to do as well and she started screaming at her as well. Having incompetent staff poses a safety risk for all involved. Staff are supposed to help the customers not scream and yell at them under the guise of “well I’m trying to do 6 things at once”. Newsflash, everyone is doing six things at once, not just you! I would be firing this lady. Makes your business look bad having her being the face of your company and she can’t handle it. Also if you want people to know what they’re doing- don’t assume ! Either tell them via mouth, give them a piece of paper with directions or post a damn sign instructing what to do! It’s very simple.
One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had everybody there has a bad attitude makes it such an unsafe environment will NEVER return. The reviews speak for themselves.
I went in today September 10/2025 I turned in small engine motors and lawnmower frames a bicycle frame and they only told me to go to the first gate they didn’t mention to go on the scale at all how do I get my money
Unloaded $6k worth of copper, brass and aluminum from the Columbia power plant today. The white haired lady Tracy is a complete hack. Even tried to strong arm me into not looking at the weight before signing. Then told me to look at check/prices outside. That was the second and last bad interaction with Tracy. We will never bring scrap back to this yard again.
I want a small trades business and we end up needing to scrap metal from time to time. can’t help but notice how rude and smug people running scrap yards and dumps can be a lot of the time.
I feel like every time I come here, the guys working the yard do everything they can to get me a fair price, they are always nice, this has become our go to spot for scrap metal recycling.
Great place to recycle! Justin Woods in the warehouse is always friendly and helpful with sorting questions, Tracy in the office is always in a great mood! Great yard with great employees!
Good service the employees are great. I have been to other salvage yards and Portage do a great job their yard is well organized much better than the otherone.
Took a 1990 dodge Dakota with an 8 ft bed and no missing parts and it tared at just over 3,000lbs.....I've confirmed with multiple mechanics that it weighs over 5,000 lbs. I'll be filing a complaint wherever need be
Brought in over 130 pounds of aluminum cans. No transparency. Filled their largest dumpster and 1/4 filled another. You don’t get to see the weigh in. They tallied 88 pounds only. Said the 70 gallon bags at 3mil thickness weighed over 40 pounds! The bags were in the trailer and may have weighed at most 2-3 pounds total. Never going back there. Got robbed.
Screamed at by the woman inside cause "it's her lunch time" so she's not weighing anything... I get that people need a break, here's an idea... hire more people or cross train current staff... maybe hire people that are less rude as well... I have no issue taking my scrap elsewhere 🤷♀️

Have no experience to share because I cant find the current price on aluminum. I see one post that says call for current price, well maybe I don't feel like talking to anyone or care to call every day to see if it'd be worth the time to load everything up & make the trip. Would it really be that difficult to post the current daily amount you are paying for at least the most common materials people inqire about?? I didn't rate you less than 3 stars just in case I missed it somewhere on your website. Although if I did miss it, maybe you could make it less difficult to find. Like BIG BOLD LETTERS "CLICK HERE FOR CURRENT PRICES". Just a thought..
Worst junk yard ever. Crane operator playing around with the crane doing god-knows-what in the yard while vehicles are backing up on the road I think there was four of us waiting to get unloaded for over half an hour hour no explanation watching the guys screwing around like I said the worst junkyard I've ever been to is it flirting to get the customer unloaded paid and out of there but I don't know what the guy was doing up in his crane watching TV maybe committing some Act of indecency I don't know but I will never return I don't care if I have to drive a hundred miles to another scrap yard
This is the first time I went there. It took a little while to catch on to their system. You dump your aluminum cans into a bin. Then the bin is taken inside a building with a fork lift to to be weighed, spilling a lot of cans on the way in. The cans that are spilled don't get included on the scale. People bringing in cans don't get to see them weighed. Very little communication so you don't know what to expect. After you put your cans in the bin, you wait for the guy to come with the fork lift. That waiting together with figuring out what to do each step of the way and I had a lot of cans, caused some time delays. I didn't mind the time delays, but I felt like I was being blamed for it all.
