Best spot to go thrifting!! Nice furniture, cute clothes for men, women, and children, housewares, even some cool electronics! Also, it’s NOT just a thrift store!! Regenesis has a beautiful mission! Just ask the cashier about it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ highly recommend!!

I go to both thrift stores pretty often and Cierra is absolutely amazing! Every time I come into the store she is friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. She goes above and beyond to make sure customers find what they’re looking for and makes the whole shopping experience so enjoyable. You can tell she genuinely cares about her job and the people who walk through the door. The store is always organized, and she has such a great eye for unique finds. If you stop by, definitely ask for Cierra — she’s the best!

I was shopping for shoes and clothes for my granddaughter and couldn’t believe how expensive everything was. The prices are ridiculous, especially considering that everything is donated. I had read both good and bad reviews before going, but the negative reviews definitely outweigh the positive ones. Unfortunately, they were right. I really should have listened.

I’m sharing my experience after two very upsetting incidents at Regenesis Thrift Store in Chester. The first incident involved a pair of shoes priced at $8.99 (pink tag, no discount). I had already paid when the cashier, Spence, noticed the brand and said the price must be wrong. He removed the shoes from my bag and spoke with manager Kelly Southers, who said since I had already paid, I could keep them. However, another manager, Cierra Rouse, told me I should donate money because I got a “really good deal.” This was humiliating. I had already donated a dollar, and being put on the spot in front of a line of customers left me embarrassed and in tears when I got to my car. The second incident happened on February 16, 2026, around 3:45 PM. I returned, hoping for a better experience. I found several items: 50¢ clothing and shoes clearly marked with prices and tag colors (including Doc Martens priced at $12.99 with a pink tag, and other white-tag shoes discounted). The cashier was again Spence, who seemed annoyed and then claimed the shoe prices were wrong. Manager Cierra Rouse told me the Doc Martens were actually $30 despite the $12.99 tag. When I asked to speak to someone higher, Gary Parrish (donation director) came out and refused to sell me the items because the tags were “wrong.” This is the second time I’ve been embarrassed and treated unfairly over items clearly marked with prices. Being put in these situations twice left me feeling emotionally distressed and disrespected. This store is supposed to serve the community, but my experience was the opposite. No customer should be treated this way. I hope management addresses these issues so others don’t go through the same experience.

Despite reading the negative reviews, I decided to give this place a try as I was in the area. There was a lot of yelling back and forth between the employees, but they were very busy working and the boss lady was delegating to her team. It was a bit distracting for sure, but they had a system. The store was well organized with a variety of interesting items. My only real complaint is the pricing. While I found a few things that were reasonably priced, most of the nicer vintage items were priced at retail, often higher than Ebay, which will turn away resellers, who are a large part of the customer base. Google image often provides overly inflated prices as well. I would recommend listing around 50-60% off average Ebay prices to attract these buyers.

*no clue why the date of this review changed* First time here, and I like they are doing. HOWEVER, if someone could tell the woman with jet black dyed hair and faux tan to stop yelling across the store to/at the associates, that would increase the experience significantly. I began questioning what I was doing in this store as the employees hollering back and forth across the store was distracting and made me feel like I shouldn't be there. I almost left a shopping basket full of items and walked out, but I hoped my money would go to a good cause. If you guys need walkie talkies, I will buy them for you....goodness. I would like to say there was a gentleman with a beard who was mainly working in the back but was stocking items on the floor who was extremely helpful, so thank you for that. I felt the prices on most things were fair - I'd say about 80%. I saw a baseball bat with an enormous crack and split down the middle for $19.99. The handle was bent at an almost 45º angle. What? Last I checked, that can never be used again. They also had train sets.....one priced at $199? I looked it up and compared it on eBay. I MIGHT be tempted at $99 but $199 and seeing loose parts in the bottom with no guarantee anything works.....not a chance I am willing to take when I can buy it for that price with a guarantee. All in all - I HATE to sound somewhat negative, BUT if pricing consistency were to improve, and employees stopped yelling across the store like they are across the Alps, it would be awesome. I know so much more about the personal lives of 3 of them female associates than I could EVER care to know just looking around for a short time. Like I said, I like what they are doing here, and I believe in it, but some areas need to be tightened up. I will go back in the coming weeks, and I will update this review should anyone ever read it.

I’ve been praying for God to bring me strength and stopping myself from my addictive shopping at thrift stores and today he answered my prayer!!!! ?? PRAISE JESUS!!!!!! Although I do regret donating and shopping here for last year after sitting in a line waiting for them to question 75% of the prices in my cart as they said they have to check all prices. Keep your crap if your gonna reprice things. I have shopped here $200 a month on average since moving here. I will shop temu instead!!!!! Aint nothing worth being scammed at a register!

Terrible location now. We have spent loads of time here until today’s experience. If the an item is priced and ready to sale to your customers that is the price. You should not be going online to re-verify the price of an item before the sale while we are checking out. Today, this establishment either thought we changed price tags or wanted to verify their price at the checkout counter. After about 4 minutes of just standing there waiting for him to ring these items up we asked what the problem was. “Just trying to verify these prices”. That would be a struggle on google when these items seemed to be hand made in the cart. We left with no sale and lost time. We did not switch tags and this was a terrible experience and we will not be back. We spent nearly 10 minutes trying to checkout with your verification of these prices. What a waste of time and a terrible experience.

I came in to look for a sofa set and they have amazing staff and they helped me find an affordable set now that will be my new store to do My whole house I love that store so much

They did not go by color scheme discounts with jewelry. Recommend people use their calculators on phone before purchasing. Lady managing the prices is jacking the prices on stuff that's worn out and in bad condition from whatever she's looking at on eBay.

Very disappointed and shocked by the pricing. For example, a pair of men’s used Levi jeans marked $19.99. This seemed to be the norm for most items. I will say this places was very organized. So that was a plus. But, these are not thrift store prices. Just beware.

Lowest rating is one star but honestly my last experience here deserves no stars! Took my parents here last week, my mom loves thrifting, and this is the closest one to our house. They live in NC so they were staying with us and wanted to do some thrift shopping while in town. This wasn’t her first time at this store. When we were checking out, I was by the door following my toddler around making sure she didn’t break anything while my mom paid for the stuff she got. I didn’t hear any of the interaction between her and cashier when I noticed another customer complaining about what had happened in Spanish, I started walking towards them and just heard my mom saying “I didn’t change the price” in Spanish, the other customer was trying to defend my mom, apparently the cashier blamed my mom about changing a price on a purse she was trying to buy and said she wasn’t going to sell anything to her now, and basically just grabbed all her items and took them from her. In other words she was asking her to leave the store. This is a “Christian” thrift store, which my mom has shopped at before but this last interaction left us speechless. My mom’s English is not so good that is why the other customer who witnessed everything was trying to help. We ended up just walking out. I really couldn’t believe why the cashier accuse my mom of changing prices on something that was already cheap to begin with. I know my mom didn’t change any prices and the fact that the cashier refused to sell anything to her after that is so unprofessional. The other customer was advising her to report her because that seemed a bit racist, the way she was acting towards her. I honestly don’t understand why people continue to treat others as if we are not all the same. Specially inside a Christian shop where they were playing Christian music, I was even singing to some songs while I was in there. I felt like it was a nice store but they need to have better employees. This is not the way you treat customers. ?? *UPDATE* Since I cannot reply to comment Ill add this here. Not sure if they had a similar situation happen that week but what owner has stated on the reply is a lie. I have nothing to gain or loose by saying this I am simply making everyone else aware of our personal situation with them. The price tag stated $6.99 and it was the first thing my mom picked up going in the store, we spent over 30mins in there so there is no way that bag was put out 10mins prior us getting a hold of it like mentioned. There was no tampering with prices what so ever and if something was tampered with it was not by us. Parents raised us better than that so I know my mom had nothing to do with it either. I respect the fact that they make sure prices are not messed with, but accusing of someone of doing so without knowing if they did or not and refusing to sell anything else is what frustrated me about this situation. My toddler had picked up an Easter basket grandma was going to buy for her and she asked for it in the car so what do we tell her in this situation? ?

Actually despicable manager and unhelpful employees. Genuinely, to the owners I would worry about the reputation of the church and mission by having this type of management. She was loud, barking orders at the new/younger employees and was seen laughing at/belittling a customer for asking a question. It made the experience we traveled all the way for unpleasant and we will never be back. Ever.

Fantastic thrift store. And the money stays in the community...unlike that "big" one! Tons of clothes to choose from. All are very inexpensive too. Right now (mid November) there are plenty of very nice Christmas trees and all sort of decorations. There just too many goodies there for me to mention. The staff is super helpful too.

I've really avoided this location and today was my last time in. I was browsing jackets when a lady with black hair who was standing way too close to me started SCREAMING at another lady. I gave her a look and got away as quick as possible. The last time I went, there were women screaming in the store as well. I understand this is a thrift store, maybe it's different than working a real retail job, but seriously, the yelling isn't appreciated. I want a peaceful experience. As I'm sure other customers do as well. Seems like multiple reviewers have had some sort of run in with the same volunteer/employee for MONTHS and clearly it's never been addressed. Also, the gal at check out didn't speak one single word to me. Again, if you're working in a thrift store, I'd expect a "hello" AT LEAST. Basic customer service. Absolutely NOT returning.

If you like falling apart shoes that should be $1 or less go here and they'll charge $10 to $20. Regenesis is the biggest rip off Thrift store in the tri cities. Both locations price gouge on complete trash. Even items they think are fancy will be priced at or sometimes higher than MSRP or what you could buy it for online. See the pics of the shoes they sell for $10 and up. They'll claim people switch out the stickers lol. They must be pros as they don't appear tampered with in any way. Edit: As you can see by their reply they as always claim the stickers were switched out. I recommend any customers to go look at the Men's shoe section. You'll find an endless supply of these destroyed shoes. The stickers will be perfectly attached with no signs of tampering. Both stores have shoes like this. Funny how this is their excuse. Never seen so many "swapped" shoes at any other Thrift Store including Goodwill who doesn't put custom pricing on their shoes aka it'd be easier to switch shoes at goodwill but I've never been to a Goodwill and seen so many destroyed shoes. And guess what? Goodwill is also cheaper! Next time I go here I'll be sure to add more pictures of the disgusting inventory they put out for bizarre prices.

Omg I love this store!!! I thrift alot, have been all over the Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield area, and this store is my absolute favorite. I never leave empty handed. And their prices are so reasonable. Definitely something for everyone.

By far my favorite thrift store! The prices are fair, the people are so kind, and there’s a good variety of items! It’s so fun wandering around Regenesis! I coach a Girls On The Run team and Regenesis was more than happy to help my girls with their community impact project! For those complaining about the prices…you realize they have to pay rent, pay employees, and fund recovery and outreach programs right? At least your money is going to a good place when it’s spent with Regenesis!

Wow! What an awesome Saturday we just had at this store! Not only was there GREAT savings to be found, but my daughter discovered the dining room table she had been searching for!! I can’t begin to thank the staff enough for all their hard work getting the table disassemble and put into her van. All of the staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful. It was pure pleasure shopping here and also knowing that the money spent goes to such a good cause. Again, thank you! Oh, and keep making those Facebook videos as those alert me ahead of time as to what new treasure is to be found in your store!!!

Good selection. Most prices were pretty good, but many were pretty high, just like most thrift stores. Cashier was very friendly.
