This is the first time I've used 183 automotive the people are great and they did a great job repairing my vehicle.I will be sure to use them again in the future

Wasn’t going to leave this review, but I have been doing some work on my car & been noticing more & more things they screwed up.
I paid for a larger job, an oil cooler & egr cooler on a 6.0 powerstroke. When I got my car back it was driving funny (wouldn’t accelerate at all when cold, couldn’t increase rpm’s, & rough starts, to the point of having it begin to start then fail multiple times before eventually starting up.) I had hoped this problems would decrease as parts wore in, but no.
I definitely should have taken it back, but I didn’t want to go through the hassle. They had already had my truck for about a week & I needed to get to work. I also did not feel confident giving my vehicle back to the people that screwed it up in the first place.
That was the really rough internal stuff I couldn’t figure out, but immediately upon receiving the car, I noticed the intake wasn’t hooked up, & they forgot to put the hose fitting back on my power steering, so it had been leaking in my engine bay.
Now that I have been doing my own work I have discovered leaks that were causing soot to build up in the engine (which might not have been them, but they did not mention) & a hose unhooked from the bottom of my intake, meaning it’s just been sucking in unfiltered air from my engine bay for the past few months.
I am very unhappy, this is not specifically a diesel engine problem, all work performed on my motor was obviously done by someone either not paying attention, or not sober enough to finish the job.
The oil cooler has also failed within a few months of them installing, suggesting they did not flush the coolant, as they said. However, I supplied the part (motorcraft) therefore I cannot put the full blame on them, just in case I went through a bad supplier.
They're busy... but took time to check a/c out in my Toyota Tacoma without appointment. Great service... friendly...Tia at front desk great. Plan on taking my aging Mazda Tribute to them for tune up soon. They've done past service on other vehicles over the years and exceled

I’ve been going here since I first got a car a decade ago and they have been wonderful and given great customer service. They always do great work.I recommend them to all my friends and in fact I have a friend in Greenville that comes all the way to Pickens to let 183 service their vehicle whenever it needs anything. You can’t go wrong with trusting 183 Auto with any mechanic needs you have.
I had 183 Automotive install a crate engine/transmission for me on my creampuff of a 85 El Camino. When I got it back from Jimmy (to the tune of 12 200 dollars... I was ecstatic and left a rave review. I now have a different opinion of the mechanical workmanship that was "done" to my baby. I very much regret and despise having the animosity that I write this review with... but I'll feel better if I do. I've had the car back for 10 months. Which I very much know that this is a considerable amount of time. (Regarding a motor vehicle and what can go wrong.) But my laundry list is exempt from the timeline as you will understand my rational.e.g. 1. The intake manifold and the trans pan have leaked since I got it back. 2. The ps squealed so bad Jimmy heard me coming and told me to get a new pulley. I put it on myself cause the next appt. was weeks away and my car was going to be out of service for a undisclosed period of days 3. The shifter/trans linkage
Fell apart the 4the day I got it back and it would roll out of park. 4. The new engine I had him install wasn't ground properly and the car would burn up the altenator and voltage regulator as well as drain a battery. My AC and fuel gauge has not worked since and when I reached out to Jimmy he said that I needed a new blower. My bad. One of the first things we talked about was getting my ac/heater working. Idk why the blower wasn't bought and installed for 30 dollars. After attempting to text and call Jimmy (I had his personal number) and declared my complaints, he told me my problems were related to that I bought all cheap parts. I am really upset and disappointed with the finished result for how much this cost me. I turned this event over to 183 BECAUSE I wanted it done right! Pretty sure it wasn't. There are many other items on this list but I don't want to write a book.
I'm no mechanic by any means. But I'm pretty sure this is a substandard result as far as the industry standard goes.

I love these guys! They were honest every step of the way, knew exactly what they were doing, and the prices for the services seemed perfectly fair. They didn't attempt to upsell me on anything I didn't need, and everyone I spoke with was very kind and concise.
183 Automotive is the most excellent place to get your car or truck worked on. They are honest, fast, precise, extremely friendly and care about their customers. Lynn, the office manager, is so nice to work with in dropping off and picking up and calling with the details about your vehicle. I highly recommend 183 Automotive to anyone with any type of vehicle need.
5 Stars isn’t enough, Jimmy went above and beyond what most people would do to make a situation right. I’d highly recommend him to anybody looking for an honest dependable mechanic.
Great group of people from the receptionist to the owner. The will stand behind everything they work on . I had a air conditioner go out 3 different times, everytime it was faulty parts .They fixed it everytime and would not accept anything for their labor . I had another truck I took to a friend of mines shop .He kept it over a year and couldn't figure it out. He finally recommend Jimmy to check the vehicle out .In less that 2 weeks he had my truck back running. The 2 weeks was more to do with having time to work my vehicle in .They normally a couple weeks out so keep that in mind when you plan on taking something to them . Ill say again great people they treat you like family .
Great small business. They're honest folks and they stay busy for a reason... I think they'll do just about anything you ask as long as they can find the time and you're willing to pay for it
Hard to find someone to trust but Jimmy and his team are the real deal. They explain what they find and what the want to do, and it's always done right. It's the only place I go for repairs, even if there's a wait. Well worth it.
We have not actually had our Jeep worked on yet, dropping it off today, but just talking to Lynn was so calming to my nerves over it! Very understanding, she didn’t make me feel silly for not knowing much about the vehicle and our needs (I’ve run into that a lot!), and she didn’t rush through our conversation- she really listened. A smile through the phone and taking time to listen means so much to a potential customer!! Thank y’all!
Hands down the best automotive shop in the Pickens and Easley area. Jimmy and his staff are excellent at diagnosing and fixing the issues with your vehicle in a timely matter.
The trouble shooting and repair process was excellent. Jimmy and his office staff are very pleasant and professional. My wife's vehicle had a bad hesitation and skip. The problem was diagnosed, and an appointment was made for 2 weeks later (they are busy and now I know why). I was allowed to purchase all the parts. Her SUV was finished about a day sooner and was less than the original estimate. I didn't ask, but was left with all the old parts so I knew everything that was discussed was replaced. I'll definitely bring my vehicles here for the mechanic work that I can't do, or have the time. Awesome 1st time experience. Just be prepared for a potential wait because it's a very popular automotive shop.
I called this place because they had towing included. I was crying my eyes out when I called, and the woman that answered the phone was so kind. She calmed me down and helped get me a tow truck. They stayed very informative the entire time. At one point they realized they needed to do some pretty expensive work, so they called me and explained what was going on before they did anything. Got my car back in 3 weeks. That is FAST for what I was having done. Plus all the cars they already had to do. When we got there to pick up my car, they were even nicer in person. Explained everything to me (this was my first time dealing with this) and sent me on my way. I am so glad I called them. I will use them from now on for any car repair needs!
Was on vacation from out of town and Jimmy worked me me in (cracked fuel tank). Super knowledgeable and stand-up guy with good people working for him. They have a month wait time to even been seen normally because they are that good. Worked on my old Jeep YJ with no reservations.
This is probably the most friendly mechanic shop I know of and they really take care of you and correct problems that you have with your vehicle and let you know a rough price and is always really close excellent work.
Great service and friendly staff. Jimmy got my old Jeep tuned and running perfect. He also took the time to explain what he did and answered questions to help me on things that I can do on my own. Recommend for any automotive needs.

I've been using 183 Automotive for the past couple of years and have been extremely happy with their timely service and reasonable costs.
I've had about a half dozen repair jobs and felt all were well done and that the costs were very reasonable.
My last visit I dropped of a 12 year old vehicle I had just purchased for a timing belt and water pump replacement and asked them to look over the vehicle and let me know what else needed fixed.
When I came to pick up the vehicle they told me everything looked good and I didn't need any additional work. When was the last time you went to an auto repair shop and they didn't try to find an extra three or four hundred dollars of extra work!
Anyone that asks me to recommend a reputable auto repair shop gets sent here.
Very nice people. My clutch went out and was towed to the shop. The owner offered me a ride home. Repairs were complted a few days later. Fair price and excellent results. Thx 183.

I've been doing business for years with 183 and always have great service! I own my own shop in pickens and when we have anything we are not comfortable taking on, we always send to these guy's. They even give us advice on car's at our shop even though we are a competitor. They are very experienced and will treat you like family!
My experience was not great here. (2yrs ago) They we're replacing the radiator, quoted me quite a low price *which is why I decided to try them out* cost almost $100 more than they originally quoted, and took almost 2hrs longer than they said. I was willing to get past all that but when they were done I saw them drive off the lot with my car (probably to test to make sure it wouldn't over heat) BUT 30 MINUTES LATER they get back and I go to leave and over a quarter of a tank of gas was gone! I was furious. Not to mention they screwed the hood on crooked so it wouldn't close correctly until we took it to have it worked on some where else and they fixed it. To each there own. I know people that swear by this place but I will not.
