I needed a tow and they arrived much faster than AAA could, within about 20 minutes. The customer service was professional and polite from start to finish. They sent a driver named Lauren, and she was excellent: professional, knowledgeable, and very efficient. She was even able to help diagnose the issue with my truck on the spot, which was incredibly helpful. If I ever need a tow again, I’ll definitely be using Charleston Towing & Roadside and will request Lauren if she’s available. If you have AAA they will reimburse you. I highly recommend them.

Tried to tiw my car this morning from my work office we have an agreement with the company next door fir the first 3 spots. We are a day labor company and our workers are only here for a few minutes. The owner was very rude and nasty with my boss on the phone bout it. There are no signs saying cant park here anyways. Agaust the law. 164772

Had to tow (again) it to my mechanic because they don’t know how to tow an all wheel drive vehicle! Beware-do not call for recovery! Owner Rick, changes his name (Jimmy) when he answers the phone to gaslight you even further. Also, they are two different business names: salty recovery and chs towing.

Since I’ve used Charleston Towing & Roadside in the past, I called them when an illegally parked car was blocking access to my driveway. They responded quickly and professionally. The dispatcher was courteous and reassuring, and the driver arrived faster than I expected. They handled the situation with complete professionalism, making sure everything was done by the book. What impressed me most was their efficiency and respect—they explained the process clearly, took care of the vehicle in a safe manner, and restored peace of mind in minutes. It’s rare to find a company that combines speed, reliability, and genuine customer care, but Charleston Towing & Roadside absolutely delivered. I’m over 80 years old and have lived in Charleston most of my life. Their services are certainly head and shoulders over any others that I have had to use in the past. If you ever need towing services, especially in a stressful situation, this is the team you want on your side. 5 stars all the way!

They tried to charge me to accept a credit card which is illegal (municipal code below). Towing companies legally have to accept cards and they cannot charge a fee to accept the card. I also tried to talk to the owner multiple times about charging over the legal maximum daily storage fee of $6 and he wouldn’t budge. I’ve attached my receipt from them as well as the law. I had no problem paying what they were legally owed but he was unwilling to submit to the law. I’m waiting on a call back from a supervisor from the city to resolve this issue. I don’t like to leave reviews like this but the owner wouldn’t be reasoned with. I was trying to be peaceable even getting cash as he requested when I wasn’t legally obligated to and he was still unyielding.

Review: Predatory Tow Company – Unethical and Unprofessional I had an infuriating experience with this tow company that operates with blatant disregard for fairness or legality. On a Sunday, I parked in a lot for just 10 minutes to grab a coffee, unaware of any parking restrictions due to a complete lack of clear signage. To my shock, I returned to find my car being towed. In the lot, I witnessed a woman suspiciously moving a “No Parking” sign to where my car had been parked, strongly suggesting she was complicit in this scam and likely receiving kickbacks for setting up unsuspecting drivers. I immediately contacted the police and the property owner. The business owner confirmed that towing should only occur when explicitly requested by them and not on Sundays. They directed the tow company to return my vehicle, as it was still en route to their yard. The tow company’s dispatch promised a 20-minute return, but after waiting 50 minutes, the owner informed me that the tow company had changed their mind and I’d need to Uber to their tow yard to retrieve my car. This bait-and-switch was beyond unprofessional—it felt deliberately predatory. Upon arriving at their tow yard, I was met with a chaotic scene: dozens of cars being dropped off and picked up, with frustrated drivers everywhere. It was clear this operation thrives on aggressively towing vehicles, likely targeting lots with poor signage to maximize profit. The police, who were also present, stated that the tow company was operating well outside legal bounds and promised to file a report. This company’s practices are unethical, exploitative, and possibly illegal. They rely on deceptive tactics, ignore property owner agreements, and show zero accountability. Avoid parking anywhere near their reach, and if you’re a victim of their predatory towing, don’t hesitate to involve the authorities. I’ll be following up with complaints to local regulators and urge others to do the same. Stay far away from this shameful operation.

Had these guys pick up a vehicle I was using as a trade-in. They lost the keys during the delivery and it’s now affecting my deal. The driver told the employees of the dealership she must have left it on the hood of the vehicle and was going back to my property to look for it. She then ghosted me and the dealership. I’ve called several times to make them aware of the situation and continuously I’m told the driver will reach out to me. I’ve reached out to the driver directly still no response. Dozens of other towing companies around here. Just use someone else.

The owner himself with absolutely no legitimate or legal reason whatsoever made an attempt to tow (steal) my truck out of a Walmart parking lot while I was inside my truck. Bet he thought I was inside the store . He couldn't see me inside my truck because of my tinted windows and the illegal tint on his Ford tow truck. Caught him, and in a split second he went full blown psycho. Tried to open my door when screaming for me to get out. Sprayed my truck with mace while I was on the phone with consolidated dispatch for police assistance. He took off. Fortunate, I spotted a city cop about 500 feet away and he went looking for him, but he quickly fled the area. Motor vehicle theft is a serious felony. Attempting to assault is also a criminal offense. If you come into contact with him, be on guard. I wonder if he changed his name that his business license is under to hide his past.

Stole my car from my apartment complex saying my parking pass wasn’t visible when it was. My apartment complex manager came and told them that my parking pass was in the right spot and still told us I had to pay. I had to call the police, they still refused to give me my car until the cops told them it was about to turn criminal real quick! All of a sudden they let me take the car. My apartment complex also said the tow company will losing their contract with them because this isn’t the first time it has happened! These people who work here are not good people! Even the neighbors around the company said they are not good people! STAY CLEAR AND DONT LET THEM GET MONEY OUT OF YOU IF THEY TOW YOUR CAR ILLEGALLY!

Horrible employees and a horrible scam of a company got my car towed wanted to get my belongings out of the car. I’ve never in my life been charged to get my personal property that I own from somewhere. First it was 20$ when I called the first time then when I showed up it was 60$ saying a gate fee to let me in and out the gate. I don’t even know how that’s legal but what ain’t seem legal is how they keep raising the gate fee. Called the police the original employee who was out there ran off before they showed up. Shows really what kind of company you’re dealing with.

Damaged My Car, Demanded Cash, and Refused Responsibility – Avoid at All Costs I’m writing to share a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience with this towing company in Charleston, SC. In April 2023, my vehicle was towed, and during the process, the employee caused visible scratches to the exterior of my car. When I confronted her about the damage, she showed no accountability or concern. To make matters worse, she initially demanded $350 in cash to release my car. It was only after my friends—who happened to work nearby—got involved that she abruptly lowered the amount to $205. The whole situation felt extremely shady and unprofessional. She only accepted a card payment after others were present, which raises serious concerns about transparency and ethical practices. I have since tried to resolve this issue through my credit card company, but unfortunately, the matter is still unresolved. As someone who has worked hard to pay off their car, it’s both financially and emotionally upsetting to be treated so disrespectfully. I am now seeking legal advice to hold this company accountable for the damage and their unprofessional conduct. Keeping opening a dispute on credit card, but don’t pay for the damage on my car, dishonest never uses this como y. I strongly urge others to stay far away from this company. If this is how they treat their customers—and their vehicles—you’re better off calling literally anyone else.

I wish I could leave a no star review The repo side of their company, salty recovery damaged my vehicle majorly and when I took and got the estimate like they told me to the lady then turned around and message me and said that they are not responsible for any of it very unprofessional. I do not recommend any company Or person to use them unless you want your car damaged because I do not know how to tow a vehicle properly And they don’t hire people that know what they’re doing and you’re gonna be like me stuck with a $7500 bill In a car that can’t be drove On the roads, no more

I hope I've got the right man, Ashton, he took care of us exceptionally! In spite of the shift pattern tattooed to his wrist, he knew what he was doing, and provided the best professional care we've ever experienced! F-150, Corner of Boone Hall Rd, & Sandcroft Dr, Friday, 23rd of May! Thank you, Ashton! Watch your six!

When we arrived, gave the desk a call to let us in the gates. When the lady walked out she already was recording us on her phone which was very weird. We’ve been living at the same apartment complex for four years and never have gotten towed. My finances car was towed because she said the sticker wasn’t visible when it’s quite literally on the dashboard. We will be following up with the authorities and apartment complex to handle this matter. Seems like a scam. Very unprofessional and the yard itself is run down and trashy. Don’t recommend them whatsoever. Would give 0/5 stars if it was an option. Definitely need new employees, rude and wrongful towing.

Very kind and patient. Unfortunately, I had to get my car out of towing this morning, and I was pleasantly surprised at the experience. (Not that it was fun 😭) Although mine was involuntary, I would highly recommend if you need a tow service. 🙂

These guys were great! They responded quickly on a Friday evening in Charleston—huge props for that alone. They were professional, efficient, and got one of our service vehicles back on the road in no time. Really appreciate the quick turnaround. We’ll definitely be using the Charleston Towing team again!

Towed my car from my parking lot because I had my military tag hanging instead of my apartment tag. I park there every day and so I have no doubt the tow truck driver recognised my car, but couldn't believe their luck that I had the wrong tag hanging so they could drag it off at 2am to make some extra cash. Had to call multiple times over several hours before anyone picked up the phone. Quoted me $330 to release my car (I have confirmed with City officials this is illegal). Attempted to overcharge me for storage costs (illegal). Overcharged me by applying a 4% credit card fee (illegal). Refused to reimburse me and then accused me of attempting to "justify parking illegally". Oh, the irony!

Do not use them at all, they towed my son car and would not release his property out the car until he paid a storage fee that he was not responsible for. When we get there at the property there is no one on site, we were there for almost 3 hours and still want money for the day we pick up his property. Do not use them at all !!!! Bad Bad business!!!

I'm super happy with Charleston Towing. They were really quick and efficient when my car broke down on our road trip - the team was on the ball and came to the rescue when I really needed help. I'd totally recommend them to anyone who needs vehicle assistance. Awesome work and customer service!"

Spoke to a individual around 6pm on Thursday. Gentlemen asked me could I come in the morning as he didn't have anyone that could meet me. I accepted try to be gracious. He lets me know they open at 9. So since they have my car no fault of there's completely mine I have to Uber. I get there at 9 to find out they can't help me till 10. When be given the information we open at 9 am don't you think it would be important to tell me that you start till 10. I then paid the towing cost the night before to then finding out it's additional $50 dollars to get my car. Again a lack of information given. If you are going to run a business you might want to help the customer and not leave them standing on the side of the road for a hour.

Crooks. If I could give no stars I would. Towed my car, and wouldn’t answer the phone for me to get it back. Going to charge me $15 a day to get my car back EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE THE ONES NOT ANSWERING. Karma will come back to you people. Not to mention the manager is extremely annoying and enjoys scamming people.

Do not use this tow company!!! Liars and incompetent. They lied to me about the time it would take to tow my car, they said less than an hour. It was actually two hours, while my car was submerged in the floods downtown. Even when I called for a status update, they told me 20 minutes, but it was still another hour. I told the driver to use street parking to drop my car off at my house. This driver parked my car in a spot that is very explicitly posted as a “reserved spot towing enforced.” When I was notified of this, I told the driver he couldn’t park there and his response was to call the property management company. Why would you park a car in a spot that says reserved parking towing enforced? When I specifically said to park it on the street. Their responses that there was no street parking. I live in a neighborhood. There is plenty of street parking. I was very patient with all of this and my solution was, have the driver come by and just move it to the street where I asked him to do it in first place. They told me that they could do that, but I would have to pay for it! I have to pay for the drivers incompetence! For not being able to follow simple directions! Meanwhile, my car has been sitting in a spot that I could very well get towed from. All they had to do was send someone over to literally move the car 300 feet to an open spot on the street. They tried to offer me a discount to move my car. What a joke. Do not hire these people. Their own tow truck driver doesn’t understand a sign that says “towing enforced” and then still doesn’t follow direction when I tell him he can’t park there??? . I would not be trusting your vehicle with these idiots. I unfortunately did and my car sat in water for two hours, and now has to dry out for three days in a spot that i’m not supposed to be parked in. All I wanted was for them to make it right! And they couldn’t even do that. Shame on this business owner.

We have been using Charleston towing and roadside for about 7 years now. They have always been Johnny on the spot. When scheduling a tow, as long as we provide correct information for them, they always arrive at the time quoted. They have helped us with roadside services like flat tires, dead batteries, and lockout services. They use multiple trucks with multiple different setups so that they can tow any passenger vehicle. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Rates are better than most other local companies. This is a small business and they do a great job of operating within their means. We will continue to do business with them for many years!

I needed my car towed today. They were super quick and the rate was very reasonable. It’s never fun when you need your car towed -but these friendly people made it really easy. I would totally recommend them to anyone needing a tow. Thanks for your help today!

This tow company engages in a towing scam where they tow vehicles from private parking lots without any accountability. We were legitimately parked at the Days Inn in downtown Charleston. They have a contract with the Days Inn to patrol the parking lot and tow unauthorized vehicles. In our situation, we had removed the pink parking permit from our dashboard and upon our return to the hotel, we forgot to put it back on the dashboard. However, the permit was laying in plain view inside the car. The tow truck driver admitted he saw the permit but said he couldn’t read the dates. It is a money making scam and shame on Days Inn for being part of it. Prior to towing our vehicle, there was no attempt to determine the legitimate parking status of our car. We discovered our car was missing only minutes after it was towed. The bottom line is that the tow company charged us $160 for the tow and another $80 for returning it. They hold your car hostage until you give them a credit card. It is legalized theft!!!

This company watches parking lots and towed me out of a GUEST parking spot at an apartment complex where I was visiting my friend. They said they “watched me leave the property (I walked to meet my friend who is a resident of the complex) at which point I was illegally parked.” The signage of the guest parking states it is only valid for guests of residents and for up to 24 hours, but it does not state that the guest must remain on the property at all times. I would understand towing a car from a resident/reserved spot but from a guest spot?? Luckily after my friend and I spoke to the complex management I was refunded. I can’t comment on the roadside assistance services of this company but I would think twice because their employees are sketchy and trying to find a way to make quick money.
