Went to recycle electronics based on what was listed on the website. The guy said they don't take TVs which was the major reason I went there as it said they were ok on the website. Also wanted to recycle a laptop which was well underweight so no money was received for it but they did take it. Still not sure where to drop off a TV.
Positive experience. Dropped off a truckload of copper, aluminum, iron, motors, etc on a Saturday at 9am. After a quick chat with the guys in the yard, I was able to pull the truck into the building, unload and weighed in 10 min, went to the guy in the booth to show my ID, and then to the money machine for cash. The building was very clean with no tire hazards present. The weights were mostly 20% lighter than I what I weighed at home, but as a guy that takes scrap in once every 5-10 years that was OK with me. It was no more than 15 minutes from start to finish.
Awesome place! I actually dropped my money there yesterday and didn't realize it for about an hour and when I called they had recovered my cash and it was waiting for me this morning. Try that at another scrap yard
Having been in the appliance business for over 25 years, I’ve been to Every Scrap yard from New Jersey to Reading, large yards and small yards, Modern covers all the bases, centrally located.concrete ground that is cleaned off almost hourly, I have had a half of a dozen punctured tires throughout the years from the other dirt, muddy scrap yards. At Modern I just back up almost to the scrap pile and dump my scrap,, they monitor their pile and constantly maintain a clean concrete pad. There is not a yard that pays more for scrap and I get the max amount every time. Usually in and out in 15 minutes . And they don’t boss you around, sometimes the yard man has even helped me unload the very heavy pieces. The dude at the window is friendly, and quick to give me my cash so I can get back to work. Worst experience at a scrap yard ever! I will never go to this place again. Usually get between 80 to 150 for copper and brass valves, heavy duty electric motors, and circuit boards. This place gave me 23 bucks classified as light iron.
Just went there for the first time after finding out about Ridge Metals being closed and they were awesome. Great customer service and good prices. I’ll definitely be going there for now on especially since it’s hard to find a fair deal in Norristown for scrap metal. I looked up prices online before I went and they beat what I found during my research. Also I’ve been reading some of the comments and I just have to say what kind of person complains about walking a few feet to put stuff in a bin. If they hired more people to do that it would lower what you’d get for your scrap.
They are hit or miss. The first few times they were awesome, however once they got to know me they started under paying me for the material I brought to them. This last time I went to them to drop off a load of copper with a little bit of brass still attached. The man running the scale put it all in as brass. I talked to the head guy behind the counter and he said the guy running the scale maintained it was all brass. I informed them that I get copper mixed with brass from a professional plumber and I can have him come down if they need but they refused. It slowly worked its way up to straight miss labeling the material I bring in, so that was the last time I go there. They wouldn't even attempt to work with me to fix the issue. I suggest paying really close attention to what they label and how much they say it weighs. Or just avoid this place all together. Modern recycling is not a trust worthy place to conduct business.
Was going to Ridge Metals for the past 8 years and they closed so I came to Moderb Recycling for the first time and they were awsome! Very quick and didn't come try to check every single piece. Prices are also good. Will never go to another scrap yard!
Very disappointed going here. They were the only ones open on Saturday which was a plus, but they tried to give me 45 cents a pound for #10 insulated wire. Once I called him out on it he gave me 1.70 a pound. Must have thought I was stupid or something
Easy process. Recently renovated my house and had some old copper pipe we had replaced along with some wire. In and out quickly, and got paid fairly for our scrap. Will use again.
I can't say enough about how great this place is! If I could, I would give them 10 stars. Not only do they perform a great service for their customers that are interested in recycling but they are also helping the environment by recycling metal! So...next time you decide to throw something out, think it through it may be worth something!
I stopped by with my daughter with a load of scrap copper, aluminum and brass. The whole experience was easy peasy. The workers were all super friendly and everything went as smoothly as it possibly could have.
One tip is to put everything in lightweight plastic trash bag. The tare weight on my plastic buckets seemed a little high, but I'm not saying I was ripped off. I think it was high due to rounding. Plastic trash bags would make the tare weight unnecessary.
We used this company for dumpsters on our jobs. They are rude and don't care about their customers. The owner is just as rude as the workers are. Horrible. So many other dumpster companies that care for their customers. Don't recommend them for anything.
Wow just wow! So if you're taking metal inside to weigh, they make you manually place it on the scale AND THEN "TRY" AND MAKE YOU place in "their" bins. They dont want to pay someone but they want you the customer to do the labor so they don't have to. Even asked the managers and they gave me attitude. Really sad. I'd rather throw my scrap away than to give scum like this my business. Deplorable!
