This is a treasure trove of unique architectural findings. Perfect for those trying to find period-appropriate furnishings and details, including, but not limited to, doors, windows, light fixtures, shutters, knows, sinks, toilets, mirrors, and so much more. Absolutely love the owners; Jane was incredibly kind and helpful in helping us search for items to fulfill our design ideas. We will be visiting this establishment for all of our future antique artifact needs!

So I'll start with the fact that they are an amazing resource for somebody looking for a specific bathroom furnishing late 19th-early 20th centiry. They have wonderful items you can tell come from authentic homes. The staff is extremely friendly/pleasant. The largest downside is they are heavily overpriced (imo). I've seen previous comments and have seen the reply often that they are not a thrift store or habitat store. In the most respectful way possible, that response needs some reflection and grounding in reality. As somebody who has antiqued from west to east coast and the run of the north/south throughout, these are some of the highest prices I've seen. Yes, even compared to New York (and the condition of some of these items are not to the same caliber). I'd not tell anybody to not go here ( the opposite actually for anybody restoring a historic home or furnishing a modern one as such ) but, just keep in mind that if you find the thing you're looking for, you'll likely find the price to fall into the exorbitant category. I'm not one to fault them, as I know they have their reasons to price as they do (and that price will be right for the right person), this is just my honest review. Best of luck to the owners and happy antiquing to all others :)

First the good. This place is absolutely AMAZING? They have so much probably impossible to find antique vintage things for old homes. Most of this stuff come from very old high end mansions. If your restoring a mansion built around the late 1800's early 1900's and are looking for something for it, they probably have it. There's so much stuff it's hard to walk through it without bumping into items. It's massive and has 2 stories full of tubs, sinks, toilets, doors, windows, little bit of lighting, fireplace mantles , and down to even door knobs of all kinds. So many one of a kind unique things. It would be worth driving from long distances to shop here. The people running the shop were super nice. I am heavily tattooed and people automatically assume I'm a criminal so I get followed around any store I go in. They did not treat me that way at all. The bad is they are pricey. I found an item I would probably have splurged on but the price was about 10 times what I would pay for it. Most items there are one of a kind though so I guess you have to expect that. AWESOME store to go to for sure though.

I really, really want to love this place a lot, but it is just OK. Pros: If you are renovating or restoring an older house and want to make it 100% period-accurate, you do need to check this place out. They have many unique door knobs, hinges, windows, sinks, bathtubs, toilets, architectural elements, furniture, mantles, stonework, etc. from historic homes and many of these pieces are in near-perfect condition. The price for these near-perfect items are reasonable but on the high side, but again, if you are restoring and really want something unique or period-accurate, that is essentially in perfect condition they will have it. Cons: Overall, it is way too expensive. While their perfect pieces are reasonable, the majority of their pieces are overpriced. Majority of pieces have damage: dents, cracks, chips, obvious, missing parts, missing window panes, and a lot of water damage and rotten wood, etc. that are still priced for hundreds and hundreds of dollars as if they were in perfect condition. The majority of pieces need work to get back to their perfect condition, yet still priced at a premium. Regarding the cat, super friendly. I dont like cats and don't think the cat smell is that overwhelming, but you can still smell it. I did see the cat sitting on a very expensive chair, so I personally thought that was a bit... tacky. I really want to like it there, but I just think their prices are too high specifically for pieces that are not in perfect condition. The pieces I wanted I would have to spend hours refinishing/fixing due to damage and wood rot, which really defeats the purpose at the cost I would have to pay. Again, if you are restoring or renovating, definitely take a look!

Always worth the drive. Bob and Jane are wonderful - a goldmine of knowledge and they have a wide selection in their inventory that almost always has exactly what we need.

This is a really nice place with cool and interesting architectural antiques and vintage items, the owners are very nice people and extremely knowledgeable, I recommend people to stop in, it would be well worth the visit.

Fantastic place with vintage building supplies. Need an old door, window, hardware or trim? It's probably available here. Replacing a mantle? Got that. Purple toilet and bathtub combo? Check that one too! Lots of fun and can't wait to be back with the tape measure to buy the door we need for the project we have started.

You never know what you will find -- besides toilets and tubs in rainbow colors. Doors, hardware, architectural salvage. Owners Bob and Jane are knowledgeable and very helpful.

I didn't find wood to patch my floors but he didn't point to the right place to go! So many wonderful things here and a cat!

If you are looking for vintage bath tubs, toilets, sinks, faucets, and several other vintage kitchen and bath items this is the place. Largest selection of new and used of these types of items that I've ever seen in one place. Anything from old porcelain cast iron sinks, clawfoot tubs, old porcelain toilets in many different porcelain colors from the past. Prices seemed a little high but I'm not up to speed on these types of items so they may be good.

It's a fun place to look around. Everything is WAY overpriced. Many of the items I've found in other places for less than 1/2 the cost. If you need an antique door or vintage bathroom item, this might be the place. The ? is friendly and so are the people.

Meant to do 5 stars but it only took the one star,Sorry Jane I LOVE THE place were coming up again at the end of April, we'll see you then.

Excellent place, lots of quality architecture salvage materials. If you are remodeling an old house, this place is a treasure trove of time period pieces. Staff is very friendly and helpful!

Knowledgeable and communicative. I told myself the next time I broke something I’d make the trip and they had exactly what I was looking for. Fair price and some truly exceptional pieces throughout the store.

Very much of a selection. Pricey for the average bear. But if your into that old gothic look ..then this is the place to find it. Loved the old staircases and spindles. Seen a shed door for 350.00 ..I liked it..but not worth that!

A great treasure hunt every time with very nice fixtures. Everything from casing to toilets. Thank you, Bob and Jane! The light and mailbox look wonderful.

Accidentally ended up here on a trip from MI to NY. It is AMAZING inside. The things they have there are awesome. The prices on these items are also very expensive so I would suggest not to bring small kids in there.

Very interesting items, however the building smells of cat urine. The smell is over welling. Could not wait to get outside to fresh air. Just so u know I'm a cat lover, but this was awful.

We had so much fun walking around the facility. The staff was very helpful and were able to answer questions about the items for us. Wish we would have checked them out sooner. We will definitely be back soon to check out the revolving stock.

A lot of old stuff. Helpful staff.Did not notice an overwhelming odor of cat urine (cat rescuers) as some reported. No refunds. Exchanges only, so buy carefully or get it in writing.

Cool shop with great cats. I wish there was more variety in items, but the pieces they have are unique and well taken care of. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and prices are reasonable. Great stop if you are renovating a house or looking to personalize a room.

Having previously been a very vocal advocate of this place (even to the point of bringing people to see it), sadly I have to retract my support. Roughly 9 months ago I purchased a very large, rather expensive pocket door. I saw termite damage on the bottom & commented on it at the time, but I thought it was limited to just that spot. I did not inspect thoroughly enough, however. The project I purchased it for was extensive & I had a delay (the birth of a child will do that), but I stored it on blocks with care. Finally, I got to the part where I would hang the door. In cleaning it, I actually punched two holes through it due to MUCH more extensive termite damage than I had assumed. I contacted the company to seek an exchange. The best they would offer was half off a new door (about $350). We reluctantly offered up to $200, but were refused. Note that they still had the same doors now that they did 9 months ago, so this isn't a hot item flying out the door on a common basis. While they carry an array of really interesting stuff, make certain to inspect your purchase with a magnifying glass & be prepared to eat your investment. As for me, that will be my last trip to their shop & I'll also be telling everyone I know: BUYER BEWARE! Update: In response to the owner, the termite damage on the bottom WAS noted & discussed. It was why I contemplated one of their other doors. What's more, the person loading the door actually broke off a piece of the trim from the bottom (the upper right in the pictures) & commented on it specifically. So... No, that part is absolutely a lie on their part. Further, I have pest control come in as a preventative measure. Since we had some damage long before we occupied the house, that seemed like a wise move. No active termite tunnels were found in our home nor in the door. Again, I loved this place before. Only use them if you're absolutely willing to eat your investment.

What a "little piece of Heaven" for those who truly appreciate architecture, interior design and history. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Definitely worth the trip to Toledo, Ohio and easy to get to. The owners, Bob and Jane, are over the top friendly and helpful. I have found my "go to" place for my house!

I wish I had checked this place out when we started working on our historic home! This place is huge and very well organized, with a ton of treasures to be found. MASSIVE selection of vintage / antique doors, bathroom equipment, knobs and handles and everything you need if you're missing one special piece in your cool old home! One trip wasn't enough to see everything. The owner we spoke to was very friendly and knowledgeable as well, just a delightful experience overall. I had overheard on a few occasions people complaining about the prices here which put me off for the longest time, but now that I've stopped in, I regret listening to those people - This is not a thrift store, don't expect thrift store prices! I thought the prices were extremely fair for what this is; A huge and carefully procured collection of hard to find specific items for your old home, which you're unlikely to find anywhere else. I'd be happy to pay the prices they're asking, and am excited to come back with measurements and pictures to find some important pieces my home needs, particularly some spindles for my staircase (as they had an entire ROOM full!) I'd DEFINITELY recommend you check this place out!

I actually thought that it was a great place to shop. It had everything imaginable but....the warehouse smelled strongly of cat urine and I couldn't stand the strong odor throughout so i left without buying anything. It's a shame because the people there are very friendly and I really wanted to shop but the smell was very unpleasant.

Avoid this place. I contacted Architectural Artifacts about removing and buying items in a home I recently purchased. They were also going to work on buying a few pieces for me. Their communication skills were definitely lacking. I attempted to contact them via email and phone several times to find out the exact plan after I met with them. They were rude and constantly telling me conflicting stories. They made many promises they did not keep. I delayed projects in my home due to them which cost me both time and money. Bob and Jane Cairl, the owners, do not respect their clients or people in general. They seemed like genuinely nice people when I first met them, but do not be deceived! Stay away at all cost!

This store is delightful. Whether you are looking for a specific piece of architecture or just browsing as I was, there is something here. There are hundreds of old doors, cases full of old-fashioned hardware and door knobs, and a room full of railing posts. Also tons of antique sinks and even quite a few bathtubs. More old register covers than I have seen in one spot as well as pieces of antique trim fill the building alongside your normal antiques like pottery and furniture. There are also some friendly resident felines, as noted by the sign on the front door. :)

The owners are delightful, they knew us by face after visiting only a few times! In their spare time away from the shop, they haunt auctions at some of the most beautiful mansions to salvage items for the store. They also rescue lost and abused kitties who are given run of the place, showcasing the stunning antiques wonderfully. If you plan to shop at this unique establishment best bring a healthy line of credit as the artifacts are steeply priced, however, this is not your normal 'antique' shop...it is truly one-of-a-kind.
