I'd give less than 1 star if I could after my experience today. I've been here several times in the past and bought some wood previously. I feel like I got judged and discriminated against today by the owner Mark. First time I met him was today. I inquired about tarped wood sitting in the parking lot. Rather than helping me, he seemed more interested in removing wood that he wanted to plane and sell and I was a distraction to his newly found treasure. As we were walking to go back in the store, he basically dismissed me. "Okay, thanks for stopping by." He literally stood in front of the door. I said, "I am sorry, did you assume I was not going to purchase the wood we looked at or look at anything else?" This was very insulting... He said, "that wood is very expensive. This comment alone told me that he judged me as someone who couldn't afford what I was looking at. Bad news for you is that I can afford it and your discrimination doesn't deserve a penny from me.
Owner (Mark) don't bother responding. A response from you will never convince me that you don't discriminate.
BTW: This place is way overpriced! Some of the stuff looks like garbage picked up off the side of the road.
A truly unique place where you can find rare hardwood to mid century ship parts. Victorian door handles to Welding wire and a ton of insane finds in between.
This place carries some amazing exotic woods. The colors and grain has to be seen to be appreciated, there is stuff you've probably never seen or heard of.
What a great welcoming place. This warehouse is HUGE and full of things you'll want to pick up and check out. I went with friends who are woodworkers and it was fun to see how much they shared with each other about the pieces of wood they saw. There are a lot of exotics. I heard several times, "I've never seen this type of wood." We went in eyes wide open and left hands full of wood for the next project.
Mark and the crew at Scroungers Paradise are just incredible! We go in and never know what we’ll find BUT you always know it’ll be fantastic. They’re very helpful, priced reasonably, and are experts in sourcing unique wood and other hard to find, one of a kind, unique pieces to distinguish your project. We have a 70yr old farmhouse that needed some TLC but we wanted to stay authentic to the original charm. First, we dressed the mantle in Bolivian Rosewood. Next we opened the wall between our dining and kitchen, using morado butcher block of the same rosewood. Scroungers had enough of the wood that we could waterfall the countertops and swap a cabinet for open shelving. It modernized our home while creating even more charm! We then carried this into a small buffet in the dining room and used the wood for bow ties on the new dining table top (our first time working with such a large slab and epoxy) and it really helped to pull the various wood species together throughout the main areas of the house. Lastly, we coated the beam between the two rooms to match the mantle in the living room. We know it took YEARS and several trips to South America to source and WOW are we ever grateful! Our home is truly transformed thanks to Scroungers Paradise!!!
Loved this place the first time I walked into the warehouse. A bit of everything everywhere. It has been awhile since I walked through the wood smell aisles and I wondered for hours today. Found exactly what I was looking for plus some beautiful IPE and other woods. You never know what you may find here. Customer service has always been wonderful. Love listening to the stories.
This place is like a treasure trove. Wonderful woods of all different kinds, Cool art in the front. Massive slab tables. Flooring, windows, gorgeous doors, hardware ... for us it's a neat place to wander around and get inspiration for projects!
I really needed more time. An interesting selection of exotic and not-so-exotic wood. Wild array of local art and upholstery fabric. The prices are ok. Some of them are super high. For instance, drawers that were obviously pulled from wardrobes ranged from $46-65. I guess you need to bring your haggle face.
I am a Builder that just moved down here about 6 months ago with my wife. We purchased a house that had been neglected for decades. Still had its original kitchen. unusable at this point. I started looking for plywood to build a new one with out much luck. A friend told me about Scroungers paradise and they had all the plywood I needed in stock. purchased pre finished Birch for the cabinet boxes, and unfinished Birch for the Door and Drawer fronts. Unfinished so I could stain them White and spray them myself. Also found some beautiful Green tiles from the Grove park inn. Needless to say I would still be standing around waiting for materials if it weren't for Scroungers Paradise. Thanks Mark and cheers friend.

Chanced upon this wonderful place just a couple of days ago. For those of you out there who need a big beautiful statement in their hotel foyer or their restaurant needs a huge banquet table or if any business needs a conference table that would surely make the sale - this is your place. And this place is not only for big beautiful pieces of wood turned into tables, but it’s also for the crafty ones and the woodworkers and anyone who can appreciate absolutely beautiful wood. You have got to go to this place even if it’s a distance. That’s all I got for you!
It was incredible! The prices are great and the selection of different wood even better. The entire staff was beyond friendly and helpful. I'm definitely going back.

Loved my first experience today at scroungers paradise. I picked up a good collection of exotic wood cut offs and am thrilled. Mark was an interesting guy to talk to, and I will be back next time I am in town!
The 3/8 Russian Birch Plywood that we purchased from Scroungers Paradise last month was perfect for our ceiling project. The quality was great. Customer service was great. I couldn't have asked for more.
My husband and I have worked with Mark and the others here on several occasions when looking for wood to make custom pieces. We always find something we love and the service is excellent. So far we have had a gorgeous macacauba hardwood floor installed in the kitchen and have had a custom powder room vanity fabricated using two other woods from Scroungers. Love going there just to look around! Thanks!

They have sooo many types of exotic woods (some that I didnt even knew existed or I couldn't even say the name of them ?), from small pieces, to large pieces, to slabs, to flooring and even tiles. They have it all. Their pricing is pretty good.
Definitely will be coming back for some more when I run out of what I bought.

Yeah they have interesting and exotic woods, you’ll read and find that to be true. They also have lots of surplus contractor supplies; wood flooring, all kinds of tile, boxes of nails/bolts, drawer pulls, table legs, hinges, decorative cast iron poles & dozens of different styled toppers, pallets of welding supplies, 3in pvc ball valves, metal/wicker mesh, industrial rolls of plastic sheeting, hundreds of wood working drill/router bits (most still in their protective plastic or unwrapped) and all kinds of other neat goodies for those who are looking for materials, tools or supplies.
They also have so much more with their one offs! Want an original machining part from the Rolls Royce factory? They have one. Need a 50lb ship yard eye bolt? They have 20. Looking for a 6ft single strand pully wheel and 200ft of galvanized aircraft cable to go with it? They got that too. Their heavy metal is seriously impressive, and often overlooked. For crying out loud they have shelves of unused, still in wrapping radiator heat exchangers right next to 400, 600, 1000lb industrial roller chains, which is across the aisle from the 3 ton John Deer Diesel engine! Where are you gonna find that kind of mix anywhere else?
I love the maps. They have over 75 map boxes filled with USGS quads (mostly alphabetized) from everywhere around the nation. There are boxes of index maps, Natural Resources Survey map, Defense Mapping Agency quads and state maps the size of walls. I’ve given them as gifts, cut them up as cards, and have a couple under glass as decoration.
Just recently I found a drawer filled with DMA projector transparencies, which was delightful surprise for me and the owner!! I gave one as a gift, and have some attached to windows as privacy screens. They are so cool to look at, and their detail/resolution are perfect! Excellent condition! These types of maps aren’t made any more, nor easily obtainable or cheap.
I wouldn’t have found it, if I didn’t dig. Which is the golden rule of Scroungers Paradise for me. If I don’t get my hands dirty, scrounger around, and “look under that thing,” then I’m missing out on the gold.
Amazing doesn't do this review justice. First off this is an incredible place for people who love rare and off the beaten path things. Working with Mark and Jamie, incredible experience. To find a wood slab, design and build with them a world class desk that's a piece of art, I am beyond ecstatic
This place is awesome for large slabs of hardwoods with live edge. They have loads of rough dimensioned hardwood as well. The prices are moderate, but the quality is great and service is fantastic.
