As minimal as it gets. Public walking path right through center of park. Highway noise is loud.

The sites are concrete, wide and level. A big plus in my opinion. I like that it is family owned. The campground is sandwiched between two highways and has a public walking/biking trail through the middle of it. Not a quiet camping experience. However there are beautiful views of the river and the easy access to walking trails. Do not trust your GPS to get here.

Didn't stay here, but a friend who came to visit parked their rig here. Seemed very conveniently located, although a bit confusing getting there the first time.

We chose this little park for our 4 night stay in Asheville. This place was hit hard by the storm. They had just reopened when we arrived in September 2025. The guy on site was still setting up the sites when we got here. He ran right out and got us our picnic table and a new fire ring with a built in grill top on it, which was a nice surprise in case we wanted to use it. This site has all new electrical on every spot. Full hook up sewer , water and electric. I read reviews about water pressure but we have no issues, and my wife definitely needs high pressure to wash that super thick hair. (Happy wife, happy life). there is a public bike/ walking trail that runs through the property. Not a deal breaker and we didn't have any issues. We are right off the interstate, I feel like the background sounds are actually helpful to add a little privacy as not to disturb the neighbors. We can still hear the frogs on the river and its beautiful. We chose this spot because of the location being central to town as our goal was to explore the region.

I enjoyed 4 nights at the Wilson's Riverfront RV Park. All the other reviews are correct. Yes, the turn is to sharp for a RV. Yes, you will have runners, bikers, and walkers going through the middle of the campground. Yes, the spots are close together. Yes, you will be next to an interstate. With that being said, I did enjoy staying at the campground. I wasn't hopeful about fishing after seeing the 7 ft. drop to the water and all the trees. Tried anyways to fish and had one good day. Caught small mouth, catfish and bluegills. Just expect your line to get stuck a lot on rocks.

This was a great RV park! Vicki was very kind and helpful! The nearby highway was a non issue. We never saw any threatening people. There is a path right down the middle that is busy with bikers, walkers, runners! We exercised twice and went different directions! There was a food truck and beer truck one way that was super fun to watch people tubing on the river! Quick Uber or Lyft ride to center of town ranging from $8 to $11.

We stayed for three nights. The spaces are all back in, it’s very cramped & hard to find.. gps brings you way down the road. I couldn’t get anyone on the phone days before or day of to help figure out where they were located or to help with anything for that matter. It’s literally NEXT to the interstate so it’s quite noisy day & night. There is a bike/park path that runs from a park down the street right through the RV park so there are people and animals just walking, jogging and riding through nonstop all day long! It IS close to town and everything you want to go see, and that’s its ONLY saving grace! The sewage is so gross we couldn’t leave the black water open without strong orders & bugs invading our camper! I did finally reach someone through email for a question about our reservation but it was not very helpful. It wasn’t the worst place but far from the best! Definitely overpriced for what it is. I had read some other reviews saying how disgusting the bathrooms were so I didn’t bother exploring those areas.

Well it is in a great location , right off the hwy and on a river, but the campground is very difficult to access. The on line service was great, we had no communication with anyone on property. We were on site 12 and there was a downpour of rain and we expected a lot of water except lot 12 is the only space there that held 6-8" of water hours and the day after. It isn't properly drained as are the other lots. We would've stated another day but it was so wet on our lot we couldn't enjoy the space.

We stayed here for 3 nights with our small camper. Some things we liked about this campground: the proximity to Asheville, the concrete pads underneath the campers, the river view, the trash pick-up each morning, the easy online check-in process, the access to the bike path, the small-ish size, and the price. Honestly, the noise level was not bad. It's next to a highway, so I'm not sure what kind of silent evening miracle people were expecting in previous reviews? We slept through it with no problem! However, we were really disappointed with the bathroom situation. The first day, someone was actively cleaning it. But, judging by the same pieces of trash/hair clumps/bugs being in the same place on my 3rd day there, it's safe to say it isn't cleaned very often. The toilets were new and the showers were hot, but the bathrooms smelled badly for most of the time. The only other issue is that a lot of transient folks were making their way into the campground; one guy even asking if he could tie his tarps to our vehicle. He spent the rest of the evening talking to himself and fidgeting with his site about a foot from our camper windows. It's not necessarily Wilson's fault, as homelessness is an issue in this area, but maybe some security measures can be put into effect? Overall, I would probably recommend this campground, as it is a decent value for the money.

Very small and right on the interstate so very noisy all night. Also there is a bike path running through the middle of the campground in front of the campers. It is very busy and dangerous especially for small children. The bikers are going so fast they don’t pay attention to people in the way.

We arrived to our “locked-in” site and found that a run down, cluttered trailer would be our front yard (about 15 feet away). I immediately went into the |“office” and asked to be moved from my “locked-in” site. There was no way to look at the site prior to booking and it seemed to be the only one available when booking. Booking is done on line and communication from them is via e-mail only. They do not answer the phone and advise that if you e-mail, it will be answered in 24 hours. We did get changed to a different, and more pleasant site. The grass had been mowed a while back and it was mowed again on our 2nd day; however, weeds around our pad were knee high. The river bank, if you have a river front site, it not kept cleared at all so unless you are tall or have a Class A, you can’t see the river. There is no river access that we found. The place is a disappointment for sure for the price. It’s one redeeming quality is the wild-life. A mother rabbit and her three babies were homed in the yard right beside of our concrete pad and they were fun to watch. We were told there is a tame ground-hog that visits and can be hand fed. We have not seen him yet. ||The directions that we were given to get into the park were accurate. You cannot make the right turn into the park from the highway. You MUST go down the road and make the u-turn, then come back from that angle.||The noise from the interstate right above our site was LOUD. Hard to sleep when you think that an automobile may veer off the interstate and land on your rv as you sleep.||The public walkway/skateway/bicycle trail goes right through the park. Only registered guests are allowed to use the locked restroom/bath house and it was reasonably clean and the water hot. ||It was close to the Biltmore so that was a plus. There is a rental nearby for paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, but seriously the river is so muddy that I can’t imagine anyone would want to do those activities. The steps down to the river has so much vegetation growing on both sides of the narrow stairway that we would not go down. ||If you want to visit the Biltmore and don’t care much for amenities or lovely landscaping, this could be a good stop for you.

They were getting a bit of a facelift with new concrete pads being poured - looks really nice. Thicker grass would be welcome because as soon as you step off the concrete pad, it's pretty muddy. It's a little strange having the Fr. Broad River running/walking/biking trail run right down the center of the campground - interrupting their exercise while you're backing in or pulling out was a little unnerving. Every campground we've found in Asheville is close quarters in terms of getting to the campground and inside the campground, so if you're not completely comfortable with navigating your camper in tight spaces, you might want to book in a neighboring town. We actually spent very little time at the campground, only sleeping there at night, but it truly was quiet. I could hear I-40 in the distance, but it didn't bother us at all - we slept good! I don't know if wifi or cable was available. We found no information about it but also weren't interested... just there for sleep.

I'm going to give it 5 stars because this is by far the nicest urban RV campground I've ever visited. Everything is online from reservations to check-in. Level concrete pads, plenty of maneuvering room inside the park. You're located in the Greenway -- the bike path goes right through the property -- and you can ride on bike paths to the Arts District. Great for pets, and glorious for kids because of the stuff in the park. Don't mark it down for the traffic noise or the sharp turn to get onto the property -- that's the price you pay for being in town. Safe neighborhood but there's lots of people around. It's urban. If you want to stay in the woods, there are plenty of gorgeous places within an hour. Want a quick overnighter, this isn't your place. Want to to spend a few days in this lovely town -- and bicycle everywhere while you're at it -- don't miss this place. Best way to do Asheville, by a wide margin.

Read many reviews before we booked our stay Friday December 29, 2023 - Tuesday January 2, 2024. Per the reviews, you should proceed past the entrance and turn around down Amboy Street at the Citgo station due to the sharp turn from the interstate off ramp into the park. We are in 34' motorhome with tow car, so we disconnected at the Citgo station then drove separate into our site. We booked our site online via Campspot.com which we have used before and our site # 7 was open and easy for me to back into when we arrived around 5:30PM, just before wintertime dark. The 50amp power, water and sewer hookups were within easy reach and our concrete site was quite level. I did notice some sites down from us (sites 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23 & 25) had considerable slope from the rear to the front and motorhomes backed in with levelers down had their front tires high in the air and needed extra steps. Park is small with only 28 sites. The waterfront sites appeared to be shorter in length than the hillside sites and at least one had no hookups. There is a public walkway through the entire park, and you see many people walking dogs, jogging, running & riding bikes right down the middle of the park all day long. Would suggest not leaving any valuables outside at night as there is no security and public has 24-hour access. We did not have any contact with staff, it did appear one campsite was occupied by person who came around every morning around 11AM in golf cart to pick up bagged trash. We found no Wi-Fi or cable TV so use your cellular hotspot and/or satellite TV, both worked well for us. We took our two dogs and walked them down the public walking trail during the day and the other direction at night as there were ample overhead city streetlights heading down Amboy Street. Would stay again if we decide to visit Asheville area in the future.

We stayed here for a few nights during the Thanksgiving holiday. The campsite is conveniently located for those who are interested in exploring Asheville. Yes, it is near the highway, which means there is noise - you are in the city. It was not a surprise to us that there would be some noise. The campground itself is clean, quiet and has cement pads which was a huge plus. We also enjoyed the easy and convenient access to the walking trail as we had our two dogs with us. We would definitely stay again!

We tent camped here for our 2023 Labor Day weekend in Ashville. We had a great time - easy-peasy booking and camping. We did have to carry our gear from the parking area to the site...but only 100 ft. The rest rooms and showers are actually quite fantastic - new, clean, hot water, potable water and 110V power for charging. Quite civilized for "primitive camping" pricing. The campsite is right on the river...it's also between two busy roads. The traffic noise is quite loud late into the night, but honestly, with a couple of local IPA's in us, the noise blended into the background and we enjoyed our time around the campfire and slept well. Thank you Wilson's!

Great location- the bike/walk path goes right through the middle. It only 10 minutes to the Arts District in Asheville. French Broad River boarders one side but a well traveled road boarders the other side. The restrains small but very clean.

Stayed three nights in a nice, shady site along the French Broad River. Clean bathhouse, friendly service, quiet campground. The great location right on the recreation trail allowed us to bike everywhere we wanted to go (note: Asheville is very bike friendly and also quite hilly). Know that sites that are not on the river don't get shade. Yes, you hear road noise because of the highway nearby, so know that when you go. However, with the fan on in the camper, we had no problems sleeping. We would definitely stay here again.

Simple, clean, river views, but no access from majority of sites. It's a quick, pretty trail walk to the boathouse and outdoor bar/hangout, and that's very cool. They do not have firewood available here!! But there are grill pits. It is very very loud, being on a 24/7 busy highway!! But the bathhouse is clean. Although, the men's room was locked at 0630 so a male camper had to use the ladies shower while we guarded the door.... but I'm sure that was the fluke of a careless camper. Go for it!

Great location but definitely a departure from normal campgrounds. When we arrived, no one was about to check us in and no one stopped by to see if we were actually supposed to be there. The bathrooms were out of order the first day and once back up and running, the code given to us didn’t work our entire stay. Fortunately, we have a bathroom in our camper but please be careful booking a stay here, if you don’t. The only “staff” we saw was the guy who drove around and picked up the trash everyday. Sites are paved and level which is nice but there is a lot of noise from the highway. Overall, it’s a good location for a short stay when you want to explore Asheville but there isn’t much else to say about it.

Great location close to town. Booked here b/c of proximity and ease of booking online. Giving a lower review because it was advertised there were working bathrooms and when we arrived the bathrooms were not even completed yet and RV staff was hard to reach. We received in our confirmation email a bathroom code, but when we arrived they were not available. Our stay was on April 5-6th. Our email confirmation, as well as sign posting at the restrooms, stated showers would be available April-October (see pic). We ended up getting a refund which was great b/c we never would have booked here had their not been showers. Overall I would stay here if you have shower capabilities in your rig and are looking for a quick stay without staff interaction.

We camped here 3 nights in a travel trailer. The sites are all concrete pads, but we had to level the trailer. A path runs through the campground for walking and biking. We enjoyed the path and had no trouble with anyone. The French Broad River is visible from most sites. The restrooms were closed and seemed likely too be in a state of disrepair. We visited Chimney Rock from here and could have easily visited The Biltmore from here. There is no wifi at this campground.

We stayed about 2 weeks. Overall this is a nice campground. If you choose here it is most likely because you like the proximity to downtown, The Biltmore, the breweries, and the bikes trails. It is obvious not in a quiet forest. It's right off the interstate so the noise is really loud, we wore ear plugs to sleep. Also we had no issues with the people coming through on the bike trail (no one seemed shady),the trail is just weirdly located in the middle of the RV Park road and hard to navigate your vehicles/RVs as there are so many people biking and walking. It is pretty tight depending on your RV length and getting in/out is tricking. We drove off the interstate and into the parking lot of the business right there and there was plenty of space to you turn and safely drive back into the RV Park. But overall we would come back. It was just a three mile bike ride to New Belgium brewery and really centrally located to everything that we wanted to do in downtown asheville. It's right next to a big city park that has a dog park and plenty of green space for kids and you can fish in the river. The campground manager was very nice and worked with us changing our dates several times so kudos to the staff. The grounds are well kept and we only saw one permanent RV that was a little run down. Otherwise people are in and out all the time.

I rate this place well because it is a convenient location. You are a few minutes from downtown and a few minutes from Biltmore Village. I had preconceived opinions based on other peoples reviews, so felt the need to share my thoughts. We used it as a base to visit Asheville. We knew we weren’t going to spend a lot of time in our camper while we were there. It is close to highways and you can hear it when you are outside, but we kept our fans running at night and it never bothered us at all. There is a steady stream of walkers, runners, bikers, etc, but I was never uncomfortable. You are connected to parks and a large trail system, so that’s actually kinda nice for most campers since we tend to be active too. There is an off leash dog park about a mile away so we were able to let our dogs off leash to play everyday. Follow the instructions that they send you to go down the road and turn around so that the sharp curve is not a problem at all. I didn’t even look at the bath house since I used our own facilities in our camper. We had no interaction with the camp hosts at all. I saw them ride around and pick up trash, but that was it. We would stay here again.

Wonderful campsite for tent campers. We were hesitant to reserve after reading several reviews about the noise from the highway, but it really was not bad and did not keep us from sleeping. We camped in July and the park was full of bunnies, fireflies, and blackberries! The bike / walking trail that runs through the site was nice and the passerbys were friendly. Clean bathrooms and a central, convenient location. We’ll be back!

Enjoyed our stay! Price is very reasonable for full hookups. The manager at the park is great, pleasant and extremely helpful. We had a couple of minor issues that were promptly taken care of. Garbage is picked up in front of your site daily, just put it out before 11:00. It's a smaller RV park and we liked that about it. Nice view of the river from either the riverside or hillside sites. The traffic noise did not bother us. Great accessibility to the Biltmore Estate and if you're a motorcycle enthusiast be sure to visit Wheels Through Time about a 30 minute drive in Maggie Valley.

Wonderful stay here! The host was incredibly kind and the only time someone sketchy tried to take up residence at the campground, the problem was taken care of immediately. I felt safe and enjoyed the ability to walk into town on the river trail. Clean bathrooms and a nice hot shower! It is near the Highway, so highway sounds are to be expected. Trucks do engine brake as they enter the area, so that’s not ideal for a quiet setting but it didn’t disturb our sleep in any way. Having stayed here and the other RV park in town, I’d pick this one every time for the convenience of walking to things.

My family had a great time at Wilson's. The location was great. We were there during some pretty heavy storms, so that made our ability to use our waterfront area a little difficult, but that's obviously not anyone's fault. Everything worked. They picked up trash daily from each site. The concrete site #16 looked a little worn, but was leveled and worked out great. Our only issue were the constant pedestrians who didn't care how long you were waiting to park. Otherwise, everyone was friendly, having fun and hanging out with their dogs. I never felt unsafe, just awkward once when an old woman walked towards the back of my RV. Maybe she was looking at something in the river. There was plenty of ways to stay active and explore nearby. Overall, I wish we were able to stay a little longer and relax. I wouldn't hesitate to return to Wilson's in the future.
Apr 11, 2021 -
I recently stayed at Wilson's Riverfront RV park for 6 days in a tent site and I had a great time! Very relaxed campground, in a very convenient location! Downtown Asheville is a short drive away, which makes taking an Uber into town to enjoy the local breweries nice and easy! Other reviews complained about the highway noise, and it is quite loud, but that is not the campground's fault. Just bring a pair of earplugs for sleeping and you'll be good to go! Only thing that could have been better was the bath house situation. It was fairly dirty, but as someone who's camped with only a porta-potty...I've definitely seen worse. The showers were plenty hot and had great water pressure, just needed a new shower curtain. There is not a camp store on site, but we were able to purchase firewood from the owners son which he delivered to our campsite for us. Can't get much better than that!
Oct 10, 2020 -
The site is great and is in a great location. So close to downtown Asheville! It is directly on the French Broad River, with easy access to the highway and to floating the river! Clean bathrooms and showers available. We camped out in tents. There were picnic tables and bonfire enclosures on-site. Everyone was very nice. We stayed there a few nights and our car broke down and had to extend our trip. Mark was super nice and helpful! Highly recommend. We will definitely stay there again!
