My girlfriend's father wanted to buy 4 heaters, and he took them up to the front of the store so he could buy them when he was done shopping, and the store staff took them and hid them in the back. So when we were ready to check out, he was looking for them. While he was looking for them, the staff was laughing at him and acting like they didn't know what he was talking about.
Very very limited selection on "knick knacks" and the prices on the furniture are way to high for the shape they are in . Sorry. Wish it was better. More of the Knick knack items would be nice . Prices have gone down. That is a plus
It was nice! I got a green long-sleeved shirt and a brown short-sleeved shirt. Some of the sizes are out of place but overall wonderful. It was raining and a nice staff member gave us a free umbrella! Looking forward to going there again!
Store is lacking organization, there’s incorrect signage, I’ve seen altered price tags, and pricing is waaaaay out of line. I can not understand why a Walmart top at the Hornell store is $7.99, while at the Elmira store is $2.99.
Whomever is pricing needs to reevaluate based on the location and the overall economy in the area and make serious some changes.
i wish i could give zero stars. they closed and locked the doors in our faces 20 minutes early with people clearly still in the store . supposed to be open until 8 and suddenly they're only open until 5:45.
Too expensive especially when it half off can tell when they have raised the price. When I can buy new cheaper and in better shape at Walmart, why waste it here
Great thrift store in Hornell. I went to this thrift store 15 years ago in 2008 and it hasn't changed in quality and price. Fantastic thrift store. My wife was able to find a few shirts.
Christian based store OKAY. Where to start. I would invite everyone to really look into the Salvation Army website. They have 3 lawsuits against them. Do your research and decide for yourself. They are not what they want you to believe.
The hours on the website said they were open until 7. I drove 45 minutes over there with a trunk full of things to donate, arriving at 6, and they told me they stop taking donations at 4. Website should be more clear.
I was on a road trip to Salvation Army in Hornell on 8/23/22 and when I went in to browse through their clothing thrift store I could not belive how poor this particular clothing shrift shop is....Absolutely nothing worth even purchasing in there & hardly any items on their shelves like dishes, knickknacks or what have you....I am a regular shopper of Salvation Army Stores in Steuben County & this is the only one that is like this I believe....Haven't been to the Dansville location in a couple of years because of how poorly this one was operating also...There was a sleeper sofa in there that had torn arms in the material and they were asking 800$...And other items were also overpriced to the point of Rediculous.......Maybe the CEO'S aught to check this out....someone is must be hoarding all the goods & selling elsewhere, I've seen this before, just saying........
I would like to let everyone know that there was a post awhile back that has my name on it....that post was NOT posted by me...I don't know how that got on there and my opinion about the staff or management at salvation army...Hornell ..is a positive one...they are all in my opinion very easy to talk to and they are always willing to help.....I personally go there everyday and I apologize for the prior post.....I had no idea that was on there and I will try to find out to how that was posted....thank you ....five stars!
The rude behavior of the older woman (manager) and woman with pink hair is very apparent. Store has a "SAGuest" wifi network... But it has a password and they refuse to give the password to guests of the store. The funny thing about the whole situation is someone was at the store for the "big office" and when I spoke to him. He just kind of shrugged it off and said "I'll look into it".
Having seen other reviews about rude employees and customers being kicked out early, we called ahead and checked if it would be okay to come at 6:30. We were assured that was not the case and it would be fine for us to come. They told us the doors were locked at 6:45 but we could stay until 7. However, as soon as we arrived the man and older woman who were working began telling us (and another customer who came in just after us) very rudely that we had 5 minutes and we'd "better get shopping" and if we didn't come check out at 6:45 they weren't going to check out our items at all... None of us had anything to check out at this point. My friend and just left. I could understand if there were a lot of people or any of us had a stack of things to purchase, but there were three of us and none of us had anything. Very disappointing, poor service.
This store is a joke I was there tonight and got kicked out at 635 pm when they are open until 7 even threatened to call the cops I was refusing to leave at 635. They need to change their hours to say closing at 635 not 7 worst employees ever if I was in charge they would be fired to talk to customers like they did
Unfortunately there is not a negative -5 Star review for this. The employee's are inconsiderate, unprofessional joke ! They have zero people skills and are a discrace ! Fire everyone one of the them should be fired!
rude service. Was told to wear a mask even though every other store I've been in has not made me wear one. Don't we know by now that the masks do nothing but make us breath our own carbon dioxide.
We went to this store, the chunky sales lady with pink and yellow hair was upset because we were coming in at 6:15, and they close at 7. She made my husband leave to get a mask, which is understandable, when he returned with the mask she had locked the door at 6:33 and rudely told me you can't let him in after I've locked the doors. I told her I wasn't and that I was leaving. The store doesn't close until 7:00 pm. Just another lazy person not wanting to work and do their job. What a pos.
Prices have tripled. $7.99 for a shirt from Walmart that's used. Also if you complain about prices and corporate messing it all up the staff might throw your card at you and swear at you in the store. No thank youuu.
I have gone to this store fore years it's always clean and the people are nice.The cloths are cheaper than buying new,the money goes for a good cause that's why I support them.
Salvation army store in hornell has the rudest unprofessional management I've ever seen... They ( Jess&Cheryl)... Refused to give me a phone number to corporate office to complain about them... They do not follow policies and most certainly do not represent the mission of the salvation army ... These people should not be employed at salvation army... I was banned from that store because I asked about one of the policies...I personally will never shop there or donate ever again...I used to buy from that store almost daily.Salvation army management at hornell store should be fired.
I came in to browse and ended up finding a storage box I really wanted but it was not marked with a price. I asked an employee if he knew how much it was when I was interrupted by who I assume was a manager telling me that it just came off the truck and I had to "give them time to price it." So I agreed and left my name and phone number so they could call me when it was priced. When I hadn't received a call 4 hours later I came back into the store only to find out that it had been sold to someone else! Why would something be put out on the floor without a price and why couldn't it have been priced when I was there the first time? Poor business practice in my opinion.
Bad. Pretty much all the clothes here are extremely worn out. Besides that, nothing is in order by size or labeled by size on the tags. You have to actually look at every tag inside the item to see what size it is. Nice if you have three hours to read tags. Even if you're into that, like I said extremely worn clothing items. I was here looking for work clothes, no go, and I work in the barns on a dairy farm so......
I would love to be able to go to this store and not feel like I’m inconveniencing somebody. I came into the store about 30 minutes before close looking for cooking tray ( I know they don’t have a huge selection so I will be in and out quickly).
Upon entry the store I was yelled at immediately saying the stores closing soon and then every five minutes after an employee stopped over to let me know they were closing soon. I get it everybody wants to go home, however consumer shouldn’t feel like they’re inconveniencing the employees.
Real nice thrift store. Great prices and lots of name brands and current styles so you don't have to travel far just to find things that are left over from 1989! Nice selection of housewares, furniture, ect too! Definitely worth the visit.
I love the variety of everything they have from clothes and shoes to bedding to furniture and dishes etc.... prices are very fair . I have found many great deals ! Love the store and its employees.
