The young lady who checked me in was kind and professional. The service was quick and well done. Around 1.5 hours or so. The waiting area had seating and plenty of outlets. The service however was $10 more expensive per tire than a competitor. The bathroom was less than ideal.

The assistant manager was very unprofessional, accuse me of not buying the tires from Pep Boys Even though she was proved wrong, she never apologized and just kept going back to original comment while anybody could walk in there and said that they bought tires from us No apology very unprofessional I would give five stars to the mechanicsO

I scheduled an appointment for a state inspection. The appointment was for 8:00. At 7:58 (sitting in front of their store), they called me and said they no longer do state inspections. I said "Are you kidding me, I am sitting outside". They said not to get upset. They then told me I could drive to their Manchester location. Yeah right! And no, I did not schedule it this morning so they had time the day before to give me a call. They said they have no idea as to what people put down for service until that day. I know this is not true as they called me once before and said the person who does inspection would not be that day and we rescheduled. Total incompetency. However, spoke to one of the mechanics as I was leaving and suggested I go to the Ford dealership. And no, I do not have a Ford.

I'd give 0 stars if I could. 3 1/2 hours to install new tires. Was told it would take 1:40, which reflects my experience elsewhere. The place was filthy - waiting area, bathrooms, etc. Go elsewhere. Prices are all more or less the same. Picked this place because it fit my schedule. Did not expect 3 1/2 hour service.

Job: Replace 4 tires with tires that were in stock. Reason for 4 stars and not 5: Truthfulness is questionable. Called a few times during the day to check status. Was told statuses that lacked consistency. Dropped the vehicle off the night before with an appointment of 8 AM. They Never called regarding status. I Called noon time was told they were still working on it. I Called at 5:30 PM, was told they were just balancing tires and truck will be ready when I get there. 9 1/2 hrs to change four tires? See, questionable. The work was completed with no issues and I love the tires. I also wasn’t in any particular hurry. So that’s where the 4 stars come in. Someone with urgency to get their vehicle back, may feel differently.

Wife bought tires on Black Friday, set up a service date for a few days later. Got there for the appointment and they said they didn’t have the tires. Why would you sell me tires you don’t have? And why wouldn’t someone check to make sure they have them the day of the install? Abysmal service. Lady behind the counter told us to call the Manchester location to see if they had the tires and could do the install there. Guy in Manch says they have the tires but they’re on hold for another customer who is having them installed that day. Based in that interaction, it seems like it’s normal practice to confirm the inventory and set it aside. Not sure why this location couldn’t manage that. Called customer service, they gave me a case number and said the store would call me when they have the tires and we could discuss discounts for the inconvenience. Month later and I haven’t heard from anyone. Seeking a full refund today. Do not go to this inept location.

Made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. After an hour of sitting there and my car not moving I left. They previously took 3.5 hours to put on new tires. I will never go back here. I was told that an 11 am appointment did not mean I would get in then.

Never will I EVER go to Pepboys again. Such terrible experience with them. It started with getting a Black Friday deal on tires and scheduled service for 11am on Saturday 12/13… when I showed up for my appointment they told me it would take over an hour to just get in and then over an hour to compete the service. Hours that I didn’t have and why would they have you pick an appointment time if they aren’t going to get you in?! Then I asked if I could just buy the tires and take with me to another shop closer to home and they told me no cause I had to get the installation to get the deal. Ok. So then I asked if we could transfer the deal to a different shop closer to home and they told me no cause the tires might not get there in time. Ok so then I rescheduled to a different day. Yesterday I had to call out of work to get this taken care of. Dropped the car off at 10am and they asked what I was even there for which was concerning. Then they couldn’t find the tires that I was getting for the deal and one to find out they had some transferred to them from a different store. Weird, I thought I couldn’t go to a different store cause the tires wouldn’t get there in time yet here we are. I waited and wasted all day long waiting for the car to be done, which they called around 6pm. Then when i show up to get my var and oay, the price was completely wrong and ivrt $100 more than my email stated. Thankfully i got that resolved but then To top it all off, I woke up this morning with a flat tire. IPep Boysoo beyond pissed off it’s not even funny. To hell with them and their terrible service.

Horrible. Basically did not honor advertised special, Bait and switch tactics, Worst customer service imaginable. Pep Boys took my order on tires for an advertised offer and never had the inventory or sold them to someone else. When I went for my scheduled appointment, they told me they couldn't find any of the tires or the size. After making a second appointment I was told by phone that they would check the inventory and confirm but if she couldn't find them would call me. So she never called and when I got there they checked but couldn't find them again. She told me that they didn't get time to look for them and forgot to call. So, that was more hours of lost time and then they said they were not sure about the warehouse inventory, not sure if any other stores had them but could check. They said that even if the computer said another store had them it didn't mean they really had them. So I waited for another hour for them to call other stores but the manager couldn't verify with anyone if they existed anywhere. So the best he could do is offer me some other tire but it would be a Chinese brand instead of the Coopers and it was the cheapest deal although more expensive then what I ordered for the special offer. I ended up deciding to wait on the original deal for the better tires and see if they could get them. I was able to confirm on my own that another local store had some inventory. So after another week of waiting after being told that they would work on the transfer, no one ever called or returned any of my calls. Basically no follow up and more wasted time for me. Finally there was one Pep Boys employee who I spoke with that said they would initiate a transfer from the other store. After a couple days of waiting they said they were not sure about when they would be delivered and could not confirm if they were sent. This other store was only in the next town, a few miles away. So I called that store and confirmed myself that the tires where placed on a truck two days ago but still no one knew where the truck was or if the tires may have went somewhere else. In the end I never got the tires I ordered, wasted hours of my time, and had to purchase the tires from eBay.

I normally go to their Dracut shop, which is great by the way, but thought I would go to NH to save on taxes due that this was a large purchase with tires. Ended up becoming one of the worst experiences I have in a long time. Appointment was for 10. I got there a little after 9:30. Was told a tech called out and there would be a wait. At first, they couldn't locate my tires but end up they were delivered to the back of the building instead of the front, which I can understand if that's not the norm. Around 12:30 the tech finally moved my vehicle in. He then came to the front to look for my tires. I went to him and asked him if he was looking for my specific tires and said yes. I told him the service desk located them in the back. He just walked away without a thanks. After 1:30 he came in and gave the service desk my keys and work order. She was taking care of a customer at that time. I stood in line. After the customer left, she looked at me and asked me what I needed. I said the tech was done with my vehicle. She started looking for the paperwork, when I noticed it was on her chair behind her. I pointed it out. Then I was told that they had to confirm the tires were delivered. Well, my guess was they were since they were now on my vehicle, but I guess that is their process. Then, they had to close out the order and eventually cashed me out. She said I was all set and handed me the receipt. I asked for my keys, and she lifted up some paperwork and pointed to them. No thanks, No apologies for the wait, nothing. I felt I was an inconvenience to them. I remained very patient throughout the entire wait. There was at least one other customer who left in disgust while waiting and I heard there were other cancellations. I understand they were very busy and were short a tech but a little common courtesy, respect and thank you would go a long way. The four-hour wait wouldn't have been bad if I was treated a little better. No intentions ever going back. Next time I will spend the extra money on taxes and continue going to their Dracut shop. Customer service comes with a price sometimes.

Booked an appointment online. Called the store after just to make sure it was good because of the busy time of year. Sat on hold for 10-12 min before hanging up. An hour before my appointment they called to reschedule because they were too busy.

Only getting a two star review because the woman behind the desk was nice enough. Seven days ago, ordered four Cooper tires to be put on my vehicle. My appointment was today at 8 AM. When I arrived to the Pep Boys, the receptionist had to tell me that they had no stock of my tires! No communication in the past 7 days to inform me of this lack of stock. Unacceptable! The receptionist took the time to check every tire they had there and no tires in stock. I found four tires that fit my car and where the exact type of tire that I ordered sitting next to the checkout desk and I pointed them out to her. She told me they were for another appointment… So my appointment cannot be fulfilled, but we’re going to keep these four tires here for another appointment scheduled on Saturday, five days away… Unacceptable! Put those four tires on my car for customer service reasons and figure out the Saturday appointment! You have five days to replace those tires and satisfy that customer. Now, you lost me as a customer and over $500 …

I had an extremely disappointing experience with the management at the Salem Pep Boys, particularly the store manager, Jeff. After a confirmed tire transfer from the Salem location to the Manchester store—processed and removed from Salem’s inventory—the manager went ahead and sold my transferred tires to another customer. This was done despite being informed by the Manchester manager that the tires no longer belonged to the Salem store and were already allocated to my appointment. The Manchester manager Uriah handled the situation with integrity and professionalism, but the Salem location demonstrated a complete disregard for proper procedures and honest customer service. I strongly recommend avoiding the Salem Pep Boys until their management issues are addressed.

Had a front and rear brake pads and rotor replacement. Price was good, but on arrival to pick it up was told my calipers were bent and I had to wait another day for new calipers to come in. The next day, to my relief, I was told the real issue was they had installed the wrong rotors on my rear brakes and the calipers were fine. I appreciate the honesty that they did not go ahead and replace my calipers anyways, but it was an inconvenience to have to get another ride back and forth to the service center.

Terrible, made a 4pm appt to mount and balance 4 tires brand new ones i already had and I didn't get out of there until after 7, they did not honor my appt..and then they didn't take cash because she had no change, she must have closed register befre checking me out..AND RUDE WASNT THE WORD FIR HER.. no one told me that until my car was done about the change thats why i think she closed registers..she probably kept the cash i gave her who knows..had to pay with some cash and rest on cards..it was awful..BEWARE OF PEPBOYS..

Update on 10/21/25 -- Took my car to Sullivan Tire after Pep Boys told me everything was fine with the caliper bolts and everything else on Sunday when I brought it back to them to specifically check the caliper bolts due to the noise. Here's what Sullivan Tire found and fixed -- and they documented everything complete with pictures, which has now been provided to the Pep Boys field team: - Right front caliper bolts loose (the ones I specifically asked them to check) - Left front caliper bolts loose. - Right front and left rear brake hoses twisted. - Right rear caliper piston not adjusted properly. (There was a huge space in between, which is what was causing the noise) Original Post: Brought in for new brakes and rotors. When I picked the car up, it suddenly is making a thumping noise when it goes over a bump - so clearly there’s a caliper bolt issue or a lug nut issue that needs to be tightened. Brought it back to have that done and they said they can’t find anything. They also told me I needed an oil change because “the oil was dirty” when I’d just had one. They said the other place did it wrong, but heard from a mechanic friend that oil is dirty the day after an oil change so that was a lie. Edited to add — after I pressed them to check further, they asked if I had added air to the tires because they felt odd. Nope. The last person to touch the tires (which were brand new and working fine before I brought the car to Pep Boys for brakes) was them when they did the brake work. The service tech said the rear passenger tire was 48 PSI, the front passenger was 38, and the two driver side were 28 — all should be 33. So clearly they over and under inflated the tires, causing the issue. They said they put all to 33, but checking it myself later today.

scheduled a 1:30 appointment and even arrived 30 minutes early to have new tires installed on my wheels — not even my car. The website showed every other time slot as booked, but when I got there, the shop wasn’t even busy. My wheels weren’t touched until around 4:00 PM. One of the employees even mentioned it was strange since there was no real workload, which made the whole appointment system feel pointless. There was only one person actually working in the shop while three employees stood at the front desk, and no one communicated any delays or updates. When I finally got my wheels back, all four valve stem caps had been replaced with mismatched, clearly used ones that showed plier marks. For something as simple as mounting and balancing tires, this was an unnecessarily long and disappointing experience. Pep Boys really needs to improve their scheduling, communication, and attention to detail — maybe that’s why they stopped selling parts; they can’t seem to find good workers anymore.

The girl at the front desk, Jennifer, is kind and respectful. After checking the mileage of my vehicle for an overnight stay to be serviced the following morning, she forgot to alarm the vehicle, but once I mentioned it for safety, she corrected her error. Thankfully I double-checked so it was no big deal. I picked up my vehicle the following day, past their quoted time of service due to someone calling out that day, but I made it work in my schedule. Six of my wheel lock dust caps had been broken by the mechanics who did the tire rotation and wheel alignment. I called corporate and they put me in the complaint queue, quoting up to 48 hours for a response. Two weeks went by and I called back. The call was automatically disconnected several times. I waited a few more days and got in touch with corporate again. They apologized for no one responding but said that "it was approved to discuss the situation with the manager at the Salem, NH location", whatever that meant. I called the Salem Pep Boys and spoke with the manager, Isvi, who was understanding, apologetic, and prompt at correcting the issue by replacing the broken caps and having them installed at the service center for me. He was a pleasure to deal with and I'm thankful that Pep Boys did right by me in the end.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I scheduled an appointment online for new tires at the Salem, NH location, showed up on time, only to be told they didn’t even have my tires in stock. Not once did anyone apologize for the inconvenience. Instead, I had to drive almost an hour away to Nashua just to get the work done the same day. The worst part was the staff’s attitude. The girl at the front desk was flat-out rude—not only to me, but even when she called the Nashua store to check availability, she was dismissive and unprofessional with her own coworkers. The manager eventually came in and acted just as unconcerned as the staff, like customer service didn’t matter at all. The whole store felt disorganized, almost like a business that’s about to shut down. No accountability, no apology, no sense of urgency. If Pep Boys wants to keep customers, they should seriously address the culture and leadership at this location. I won’t be coming back to Salem, NH Pep Boys, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

Jeff was amazing! He wasn’t even scheduled for today but stepped in to cover an employee and still took the time to be super kind and keep me updated. He explained everything in a way I could actually understand, which I really appreciated. If he’s not already a manager, he definitely should be, he clearly cares about customers while keeping things running smoothly. Because of him, I’ll definitely be coming back.

I’m lucky that my wheel didn't fall off after getting my car serviced here. I got 4 brand new tires, and they gave me a good deal on a full service (alignment, balancing). What they didn’t give me a good deal on is ensuring that my wheels were put back on properly and that may car was safe to drive. I went back after spending $800 because of my car shaking AFTER the service they did, for them to tell me that it wasn’t safe to drive unless I got the new job done. Does that make sense? Good customer service, but auto maintenance needs a serious change.

Not a great experience. Brought the car in because it had been stalling after making a 9am appointment. No one showed up to open the shop until 915. At 1030 I was told they checked the car out and that it needed a new battery and I would be out soon. I did not get my car til 1pm. They did offer a 10% discount for the delay, which I appreciated. However, on my way home the check engine light started blinking and my car continues to stall. I will say the people running the front desk were very apologetic about the long wait and did well being professional as I heard other customers yelling at them due to being frustrated about the long waits and late opening

I had called a few locations, and the team at the Salem location was the most polite and helpful. They booked an appointment with me after answering a few questions I had about different services they offered. When I checked in day of the appointment, they were still polite and gave me a realistic time frame for the service to be finished. When I came back to pay, they helped me with a coupon I had found online and helped me to send in a rebate. Overall very good experience here.

I took my VW in for a winter tire change out back in December. Technician swapped out Summer set for Winter set, balanced them and did an alignment since I figured it was recommended once changing over to the winter set. People were nice and all but did not do the job properly. A week after, my car was vibrating on the highway speeds between 55 and 75. I called back and asked what changed and if the balance was done correctly. They assured me that everything was done properly and there was nothing they could do. I thought to myself maybe it was just the tires. The other day I checked my wheels, both the rear ones were fine, the old weights were properly removed and replaced. But the front ones were not. Left wheel was showing barely any weights and the right wheel still had the old weights on the wheel. Clearly they didn’t do the balance properly and lied to me about their work. I wouldn’t trust them with your vehicle. Giving them two stars since they were nice people just didn’t do the job properly.
