Pretty good, certainly the best locally. Friendly people for the trade, considering they are often in a rush with customers in and out. The only improvement I could ask for is more transparency with the scales but they have been fair each time I've gone for the last decade. I also haven't gotten any lodged debris in my tires which should count for something.
They cheat you when weighing your material on the inside scale. Pay attention and go upstairs with them to look at the scale weight when they weigh it to make sure they are giving you the right number for your material being weighed. I called the Person that pays you afterwards, and he blamed me the customer for not paying attention to the weight on the scale. There is no large display for the customer to see the weight.. I would not recommend this company to you because when I called the owner, he claimed it was my fault for not paying attention to a weight scale pound display that was not visible. Very very disappointed. I personally weighed my materials prior to going there and they were 100lbs lighter. They got me for $360 which went into their own pockets. Owner included.
If you’re desperate and cannot go to Boston or Westford metals then do not deal with these folks. Not prejudice or racist, but the Hispanic guy was the ringleader
Went there today, been going there for A while now nice clean yard and friendly people and service easy in and out system they pay fair and the guy randy that works there keeps the yard spot less and safe, not much for giving complem but will give it when I have to been to many yards this one is the cleanest
I bring all my junk Aluminum rims here. This is by far the best scrap yard around. Very friendly. Very professional. Will definitely be doing more business in the future. Thanks - Paul W
Went there for the first time no clue where to go and the man in the yard yells at me instead of helping awful service I left without conducting any business because of that man. Way to employ courteous people in a customer service roll. I will not do business with them ever.
Friendly people. Easy system. Just weigh in and weigh out. However for the cheap metal it's no way to make a living. Got 1.5 cents per pound. From now on we'll be taking my home generated scrap metal to the transfer station and let the town make the money.
Well I’ve been there twice the first time I had less metal and copper they gave me 140 cash which was fine the second load was twice as much and the man there not the women I dealt with the first time was a smart mouth ripped me off paid me 114 and gave me so much trouble and was being pretty ignorant towards me I never go to those ripoffs again what a joke he was and I was just being nice he wasn’t. I think their ripoffs my self I know they are I would chance going their if I was anybody sorry to say. It it’s the truth he said I will adjust it and he sure did I got taken by them never again
Every time I walk away happy. Good honest people offering fair prices. I am not a frequent scrapper, I just collect old unusable brass and copper trash slowly from my job and these folks will turn it into cash in my pocket.
There friendly and have competitive prices and easy to unload you just drive up on the scale and then turn the corner and dump everything 10/10 will be going again
Over and above service. , My truck broke down there just after I sold some scrap, one of the employees took about 1/2 hour of his time to help me try to get back on the road . highly recommended . Thanks again guys .
Great people and great place. Been bringing scrap metal here for years and it has always been easy and fast! Drive up on the scale, get weighted, drive around back, dump it, drive up on scale again, move off scale to park, go in and collect your cash. yes CASH! Easy to get too and easy to find. The owner and staff are very nice people and very friendly. It isn't often that you find a scrap yard that is this helpful.
Try Winthrop Steel Company when you got metal to get rid of, you and your wife will be glad you did.
Rude!!!! I brought clean copper no puddy no paint just a little petina the a#* said its not clean because its folded ..when it all gets crushed and folded anyway by them ... lies .. so we tried showing the owner the copper to prove it was clean and he started yelling step back .. its used he said...
I've dealt with other scrap yards in the past and found the staff to be a bit "unfriendly". No so at Winthrop Steel. Great people to work with. I appreciate that they will take the time to look at a sample of your scrap and advise how to sort/prep it to get the best price.
Was messy buy its scrap so for that was nit that bad keep it organized much as possible and always working never just sitting around yiur in And out n u just drive right around full drive around Tue building no turning around ti get Out.. Didn't smell bad.. N people are nice but busy so don't talk much unless they have time
Been dealing with winthrop steel for many years. I personally find this company honest, friendly, and very helpful. Pricing has always been fair. Never had any problems with Peter or his brother. Thanks for your help.
