Mr. Patti is an amazingly smart technician and teacher. He was my auto shop professor in high school and has always been a trustworthy resource for me when I run into car issues many years later. I no longer live in Massachusetts, but I visit him every time I come home to say hello. A very valuable person to me in car knowledge and an extremely trustworthy person. I’d never take my car anywhere else if I still lived there.
Lou and his team are the best around for quality repair, affordability, and honesty. I've left my vehicle with them several times and each time the issues were fixed with quick turnaround. Never had a complaint and neither have my friends/family who also get helped here.
This is a shop that you can trust has the experience and knowledge to understand the issue(s), give you the proper recommendation(s), give you a fair price, deliver on-time and do it right. Don't hesitate on calling Lou and making an appointment to fix your car. Here's some examples of the work Lou has done for me over the years:
1. Bought in an 8 year old Chrysler Town and Country to examine and get it ready for my nephew's 4-month cross-country trip to explore the USA. He replaced the tires, brakes and heat-A/C blower (and threw in an oil change) and pronounced everything else as safe for the trip. The car successfully made the trip without incident.
2. Towed my Kia Sorento to him to replace a broken high-pressure power steering line and flushed the system. While there he noticed there was a coolant leak which he easily fixed by replacing corroded clamps.
3. Expertly custom-Installed a trailer hitch and wiring on a new Kia Niro EV. Where others on YouTube removed a rear protective cover, he cut and refit the unit perfectly.
Call him to make an appointment, drop the car off in the morning and it will be ready when he promises.

Old school shop, right down to the pics of SS Chevelles and 440 Road Runners on the wall. Lou’s been down every road, just a straight up guy making an honest living. Lots of cars out front, you’ll wait your turn. He’s on a bus line to Alewife, so just leave it and chill. No BS.
I was having a tricky issue with one one of the lights of my dashboard. Lou spent quite some time investigating it. He fixed it at a very reasonable price. Reliable mechanic and great customer service.
I have been going to Grey Patti for at least 20 years. Lou is extremely reliable, does not recommend more than what needs to be done, goes out of his way for his customers, does not overcharge and does great work. He is very busy, which in my book means he is in demand and therefore worth the wait. I read the negative review written about him. Though he didn't find anything wrong with the guy's car, he still spent time checking it out and should be paid for that time. I can't recommend him highly enough.
Good old-fashioned mechanical repairs for my Mitsubishi Eclipse. I have used these guys for internal engine work (timing belt replacement), engine accessory work (water pump, belts, motor mount), and a perplexing fuel system "check engine" issue (replace rusty [no longer airtight] filler mechanism).
In all cases they did good work in a timely manner. They are not fancy, you won't get loaner wheels or upholstered waiting room; but your car will get fixed.
I have not shopped for price comparison since their prices were not excessive and did beat New Street on the one item both shops saw.
As with any good shop in a populated area, you may have to wait for your turn in their shop.
