Played here 9/21. Took a chance as recent reviews have been very negative regarding course conditions. Found a good deal on the greens fees so figured we'd take a shot. We were pleasantly surprised as over all the course is on the mend and overall in pretty good shape. Worth playing right now especially at a discounted rate. Driving range is out of commission but they do have nets to hit balls as a warmup.

My group played River Run in May and we were very pleased with great course conditions and wonderful hospitality. The course is beautiful, challenging yet not overwhelming when you play from the proper tees, so good time for all levels of ability. Having a very good steak dinner at the clubhouse restaurant was an awesome way to finish the day. Will definitely return!

It was the worst course I’ve ever played in my life. Great layout, horrible horrible horrible conditions. Bear patches everywhere. You hit a ball in the middle of a fairway on dirt. You’re on the green and half of that is dead. it’s not worth 20 bucks to play. They should be ashamed of themselves to call that an upscale course. I will never go back in anybody that does find out what I’m saying is true.

The greens and fairways are in rough shape on a lot of holes. The most crazy thing is charging $8 for a hot dog, making you put on your own condiments by individual packet, and then not having any raw onions; was easily the worst golf course hot dog I have ever had.

Played there today 8/25 with our league. The was in terrible condition. No grass I some of the fairways, some greens were roped off and the rough was high. Paid $55 at the league cost. Felt like I was stuck up without a gun. Won’t go back. They should be ashamed.

The course was well designed. The staff was friendly and helpful. The course was in horrible shape. Fairways and greens missing turf and you wind up putting or hitting off dirt on most holes. All of this and we were still charged full price for a course that should have been half that cost. I will not be back until the issues are resolved. I understand there were flooding issues earlier in the year. That being said customers should be warned about the condition of the course before taking the money.

Everyone that we interacted with was kind and respectful. Great people working here and friendly service all around. Not sure if the super has a preventative treatment plan of any kind but the course is riddled with brown patch, crabgrass, and dollarweed, just to name a few. There are large areas on almost every hole where repairs have been made, leaving the landing zone of your ball in nothing but sand. Fairway and greenside bunkers are like hitting in a granite mine, not sand. Areas of a number of greens are dead/dying or cut entirely too high. Each green is a battle of its own, not due to course design, but due to maintenance. If we had paid $40…who cares. Charging premium prices for beaten up muni-level conditions is insane. Plenty of good courses in the area that provide better value. Steer clear until at least next spring.

$110.00 for a course in terrible condition. Worst high dollar course I’ve ever played, tees, fairways, greens, UGLY! No military or senior discounts to boot. Staff was great, but I’d be surprised if the Gary Player course will survive.

You pull up to the bag drop and a larger man won’t help you with your clubs but will question you on if you have a tee time. Then you get out to the course… most dead, disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. Putting on sand half the time. Play anywhere else because most of the conditions are similar in the area due to the rain and heat. At least they won’t act like you’re a burden while charging $100 to putt on sand.

This course is in absolute terrible condition, the tee boxes have dirt patches all over them as well as the fairway and greens. The fairways are basically just mud patches with some grass. You honestly would want to hit it into the rough on some holes. Terrible course and they had the audacity to charge us 110 dollars for that course. Do not come here…

WORST course played in my years of going to the Ocean City, MD area as long as I’ve been going! Almost every fairway was in terrible condition and multiple greens saying “Keep Off” for ground under repair. I wouldn’t mind if it was in that condition for a cheap rate, but they’re charging $110 like it’s a luxury to play. Gary Player would be rolling in his grave attaching his name to that course. Will never play again and you shouldn’t either unless the price drops!

Friendly staff but that's about the best thing on this course. The greens were mediocre, the fairways were horrible it was better to hit it into the rough then the fairway. The fairways were muddy and half-assed hydroseeded and had barely any grass. The sand traps were filled with water, I would highly recommend not spending the $110 to play this course. This is at most a $30 course

Fairways in rough shape (many in the area seem to be) due to too much rain. Lack of driving range to warm up. I'd come back - but not as this year. Greens were good. Layout good.

Weather has not been kind to fairways. The nonstop rain and heat have killed large swaths of multiple fairways. If the weather improves, so will course conditions. They do a great job, but with weather like this, it’s a loosing battle.

Nice course beautiful greens, fairways, cart girl is adorable, but buggy (as to be expected considering the location). Take bug spray or you'll be mosquito lunch. Everyone was super nice, definitely golfing here again

Excellent time… everyone is extremely helpful and friendly…. Beautiful course with very nice surroundings and community… seems like lots of development going on to only enhance the course… Will definitely include River Run in future trips to Ocean City, Maryland

Golf group in for a few days of golf. Course was very good and the customer service exceptional. On course restaurant survived a power outage for our departure lunch. Cudos to chef and staff...

Many people make a long drive for a golf vacation to Ocean City. Our group finds River Run to be an excellent choice to begin a trip. The front nine, while challenging, is forgiving as you get warmed up. Then the back nine, though fair, can bite you if you are not ready. There are also a number of holes with nice scenery, lakes, ponds and streams, as well as few more nestled in the woods. We have played this course a half dozen times and will most certainly play it again. Golf that will challenge you but not overwhelm you, a great round to make part of a trip.

This River Run golf course is the first course that we play each year of our trip. It is by far one of the best courses offered to golfers in Ocean City. The staff at this course are extremely friendly and courteous as well as totally professional when it comes to the needs of every golfer who visits their facility. The golf course is one of the best on the East Coast. Being a Gary Player signature course makes it even a better reason to play it. River Run will continue to be the lead course for our trip as we continue to return every year.

I've been playing River Run for over 20 years ,the course is always in great shape. I highly recommend this course. When you hit 16 take 1 club more.

Great course with some fun challenging holes. The staff is outstanding and very accommodating. The course was in great shape and we play it every time we book our yearly trip. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful Course! Just amazing and we went April 1st! 🥇 Greens and fairways were very nice! Club house 🏠 was awesome as well! Highly recommended!

Very friendly staff and decent course. Driving range is very underwhelming with “low flight” balls due to lack of space. Many areas around the course were under construction, however the course itself was in fairly good condition. Worth a play if you are able to find a flash deal or just decent price. Some tee times I saw when booking were a bit outrageous.

Came down for 3 rounds of golf Man of War-$99 Ocean City Seaside-$95 River Run- $125*** This is my second time playing River Run and I was just disappointed with the conditions. I'm willing to spend money for a nice round of golf, but $124 is not worth the money. Driving range has fake rubber balls. Construction all over the 2nd hole. Water in the bunkers (10th) and it hasnt ran all week. Half of the greens had debris from the trees. Every putt was bumpy. I would recommend another place, save your money.

I really enjoyed my experience at River Run Golf course. The layout is really interesting and scenic. The staff was very helpful and kind. Bill, in particular was very helpful and pleasant to talk to. I will definitely be coming back to play here next time I’m in OC!

Good staff interaction. Course has a great design but definitely needs a little help as conditions weren't the greatest. That being said, I do recommend playing here. I know it's hard this time of year but could be better. The restaurant/bar was very cool.
