George and Ty were wonderful. Helped make a rough situation more pleasant, and even helped me with a situation with my flat tires and a battery jump. Couldn’t have asked for better service!

I was taken care of very politely charged fair price for my car the staff did a really good job taking care of my car and my belongings I would recommend this towing company.

Our experience with CHD Towing was one of the most frustrating parts of an already difficult situation.

If you have any say in where your vehicle is taken, think VERY carefully before ending up here. Believe our experience or don’t - but the rest of their reviews should speak to some testament of their service. I’m actually cracking up reading other reviews - I bet the only reason they’ve gotten away with this behavior for so many years is because customers get their cars towed here out of their control after highway accidents. No one would choose CHD willingly!

I pray they find some change and growth! It’s just pathetic that someone chooses to live their life operating a business like this. After three months of trials, we got our truck back. I’ll leave this review as a warning, and go back to living my extremely blessed life. AJ and his team have to live with themselves.

STORY BELOW:

Our vehicle was brought to their facility after a transport carrier accident, something I acknowledge was completely outside of our or their control.

From that point forward, what should have been a straightforward process of identifying ownership and arranging release turned into a nightmare.

Communication was virtually non existent- it took A MONTH to even confirm where our vehicle was because they don’t answer their phones ! Finally, when we were able to reach someone, the tone and professionalism left a lot to be desired (to say the least, they cursed me off :).

As the registered owners simply trying to understand how to retrieve our own vehicle, we expected basic clarity and respect. That was not what we encountered.

Getting clear information about the vehicle’s status, charges, and release process felt unnecessarily complicated, and interactions often seemed to create more obstacles than solutions.

Towing companies operate within strict policies, but that does not excuse poor communication or unprofessional conduct, ESPECIALLY when dealing with someone’s personal property.

I’ve seen on some 1 star reviews they are blaming other tow companies! Hilarious. Way to dodge a shred of accountability

You are better off pushing your vehicle off the highway than hiring CHD BIGGEST RIPOFF EVER. They hold your vehicle and charge extortion prices to get it back. The owner AJ is the rudest person I've ever met, I've been in business for 40 years CHD is the worst company I have ever dealt with period

Very rude and unprofessional I would never ever have gone with them it was with the police call $380 for 6 Mile tow! I would never recommend them ever to anyone! Very rude an outrageous in price!

OH NO YOU DID YOU DEFINITELY DID TO MY 2014 BUICK ENCLAVE! WHEN I TOOK MY WALLET OUT OF MY PURSE TO GET MY DRIVER'S LICENSE FOR THE POLICE OFFICER I SENT MY WALLET ON THE SEAT AND DIDN'T PUT IT BACK IN MY PURSE WITH EVERYTHING GOING ON I DIDN'T THINK ABOUT IT. And my medicine was in my wallet. And when my truck was placed in the parking spot in front of my home my wallet was not in there. Other than the fact that y'all have a base rate of $350 and then 6 me I literally live 6 mi from home 380 and I'm on disability and my food card was in my wallet everything you have to do with a card that goes into a wallet what's going and is gone. Because I gave you all my money to get my truck home, I have to wait until my next check so that I can get my driver's license and my God they're what 70 bucks now. Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves and you are very rude for me to have to deal with what I was dealing with and then still don't have the money to get my truck fixed at the moment. The rudeness. The man told me yelling and accept debit cards anyway because my wallet was gone but thank goodness I had my cash app card you all take that though don't you and what does that mean tell me he quote" said to me I sent you my cash up information now send me the money that's exactly what the man said. Very very rude. I'm 56 years old with a lot of health issues and like I said I'm on disability and that was the rest of my money. You guys are just rude and outrageously priced and like I said it was definitely you absolutely without a doubt Hyattsville it was y'all. If I would have known that it was going to cost that much I definitely would not have let y'all hook my truck up to your tow. Y'all should be ashamed. I have never been so disrespected well I can't say never but it's been years. I would never recommend y'all to anyone and like I said if I would have known how much it was going to cost me, my truck never would have been connected to anything to do with you all I would have found another way home. 350.00 just to get hooked up are you serious that is absurd. And then I looked you all up and y'all aren't even accredited by the Better Business Bureau!!! I can see why!!

inking it over after a while I ask if I would see the invoice again the employee said no. Which made me think the clause in the invoice wasn't a liability waiver clause. I asked if I could take a photo of the clause he refused. I asked if he could hold it on the window and I'll simply reread it he refused. I then asked him if he could tell me what the clause was again he refused. Mind you all that time I had already paid . Then I received a call from the manager essentially calling me a thief, insinuating that I wanted to steal money from their company. He claimed he was being nice to me and opened the office today because of me. I appreciated being able to get my car but then he told be that I couldn't get the itemized receipt and I couldn't get my car unless I payed $1150 cash and not electronically. I went to an ATM and withdrew the money called a lawyer friend to come and check if the clause was indeed a liability waiver and not something else. It wasn't something else so that was good. This whole ordeal took about 5 hours. It could have been solved in 30 minutes with better customer service. Through the whole ordeal I was going to rate them a neutral 3 star but insinuating that I was a thief was rude and over the top. All though they've denied having taken me of a common thief in front of a bigger audience the fact that I was forced to pay through cash or money order is proof enough when others payed through Zelle Cash App or other electronic means.

I contacted this business to ask if my 26-foot box truck had been towed. The individual who answered the phone was rude and unprofessional, making the interaction frustrating and unhelpful. Customer service like this reflects poorly on the company.

UPDATE: After initially leaving a one-star review due to an unprofessional phone interaction, I was contacted by CHD Towing management within two hours. Management apologized for the experience and proactively assisted me in locating my box truck. The follow-up and accountability completely changed my impression, and for that reason I’ve updated my review to five stars.

While no one hopes to need a towing company, I would recommend this business based on how management handled the situation and took responsibility to make it right.

The person who works in the actual office is 10/10 but the people on the impound line are absolutely AWFUL with how they speak to their customers. My boyfriend got hung up on for trying to retrieve the items out of a car - i was told to not call back when i called… The only resolution was to drive to the location and call the local police to come monitor a tow dispute JUST to get information. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY IF POSSIBLE -

Literal highway robbery. They were called after my driver had a blowout and accident, totalling his truck. Since it was an insurance case, I guess they decided to be predatory and charge outrageous rates. To recover the truck off the rail, not overturned nor product everywhere on the highway, they charged over $60K for the truck and trailer! Then charged $500/day storage EACH for the truck and trailer! If they're called to the scene of an accident, reject them!

My car was towed here by police after a rear end crash that was not my fault. If I could have picked, I would have never supported a business like this. I was transported from the scene in an ambulance and police handled the rest. I called (after being released from the hospital) to ask could my husband come by and cover my windows (from the weather elements) which were shattered in the crash until an estimator arrives late next week. “Charlie in a different state” answers the phone and was so rude and disrespectful. He kept cutting me off and said “we close in 10 minutes you have to wait until next week”. “It’s your car you can do what you want”. No compassion or concern. Charlie needs some training on customer service. What an awful representation of a business.

I have mixed feelings about my experience. Over the phone customer service experience is horrible, but in person, the gentleman that helped my husband and I( we were talking about Verizon cellphone service being trash these days, and how Tmobile works better for the business network where they are located this morning) This gentleman was the saving grace with our customer service experience, as he made a difference. I wish we could have received pricing over the phone to reduce anxiety, as it is on the high end. We had to pay $540 to be towed from Northview/ Collington road in Bowie to their location at 11 Crain Highway in Bowie from Saturday morning to Monday Morning, in addition to another fees as provided in the picture.

Best tow experience I have ever had! Ahmad was a pleasure to do business with. I was out of the cold and home in no time. He was a blessing on a day that I really needed one. I am thankful to know that there are still people like him in this world. GOD bless you Ahmad!

God help you if you have to interact with AJ! Hands down the rudest person in a field where compassion and sensitivity is vital! I gave the company 2 stars as their saving grace happens to be George and Kermit! George was so very helpful and polite. I was shocked when he greeted me over the phone and it was actually a very pleasant experience. Then I meet Kermit who greeted me while entering the yard and then graciously came back with some tools for my dad to remove his license plates. Luckily, I brought a tool box so it wasn’t needed. But Kermit taking the time to think about giving us tools to use was such a touching moment for me. I would only use this company if George and Kermit are the ones I would only interact it.

I had an amazing time with the hospitality, safety, and customer service from the gentleman there!

I had a terrible accident and this was such a frightening, surreal, and devastatingly isolating event - that goodness my Mommy was able to provide physical and emotional support .

My car was here. I had to do my accident photos and upload them like twice because my phone died - guess who provided a spare charger for me? Guess who was giving out free cord chargers for Halloween ? Guess who talked with me for 2 hrs and made the time just fly by while I sent photos to my insurance? Them! The 5 gentlemen I met were amazing - 2 in particular and it was delightful , seeing one of the tow staff there because he helped me when I had a my previous car breakdown!

The staff overall are exceptional folks. I'm saddened hearing the recent turn of events regarding some of the staff. I hope they recover fully.

My car was stolen and recovered and sent Chd towing. I want to thank you guys for very good customer service. They answered my questions and walked me through the process to be able to get my car out. It was very seamless. Fortunately no damage to the car during the theft. I know these guys have a very tough job and just wanted again to say thanks

The people working here especially AJ are extremely rude and condescending. Firstly he speaks over you and refuses to let you get a word in. My car was stolen and then recovered and unfortunately taken to this tow facility. I called over a weekend and whoever answered said they didn’t deal with these types of things to try calling back on a weekday. I called on Monday to simply ask if the vehicle was in a drivable condition and if it was possible to take a picture of the car to make a decision on if I should even bother picking it up. The person got upset and mentioned they were the only one working at the time and they were not in the physical office and couldn’t tell me any details about the vehicle and that it was my car so why don’t I just come get it. Afterwards I had my husband call and after calling multiple times someone finally told him the vehicle was not drivable and needed to be towed. To get a release and I could get my belongings out of the vehicle. Which I did and went to gather the belongings and a tow truck driver who was working the front that day then told me I need to pay to simply get my belongings out of the car. Imagine the rollercoaster ride having your vehicle stolen and getting excited that it was recovered and then having to deal with this establishment when trying to recover car/items. My child has been asking me for his first bike he got for his birthday which was in the truck for months now and that’s all I wanted back along with the car seat and these crooks refused. Yes if my vehicle was towed because of something I did of course I would pay but to be robbed twice nope. Even asking if the vehicle was paid off and if I brought the title maybe they could work something out…HUH!?! Shame on you. This type of job hardens so much to the point where you have no empathy, sympathy, or consideration for anything except getting getting paid. Disgusting. Don’t even bother calling don’t patronize this business.

They are a RIP OFF. They literally charged $800 for a tow & not even 24hrs in the lot when MDSP towed our car. They said there was a $200 letter fee to mail me a letter about my vehicle. $300 hook up fee, $200 because they claim the driver had to wait to pick up my car after I had called my own tow truck company plus their impound fee. We are reporting them as should every1 else !!

UPDATE: I posted my initial review 5 YEARS AGO when you did in fact service me under the name CENTRAL TOWING via Geico; I never stated anything about roadside assistance. Yall just decided to respond 4 months ago after changing your name to CHD Towing. This was and still is the correct company regardless of a name change. And moving forward, I will avoid both Central Towing and CHD Towing. Lastly, I WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT remove my review, but YOU should do better if you want any type of business. SMH.

This company is notorious for cancelling Geico customers after hours of waiting for the tow to show up. They gave me the highest wait time I've ever experienced with a tow company from Geico.... 75 minutes! After an hour, they extended their ETA. And after almost 2 hours of waiting, I called the company. The woman told me my tow was outside my apartment "right now," she said. It wasn't.

After 5 minutes of not seeing the tow truck, we call back. She tells my boyfriend they had actually cancelled the tow. I called back to find out what happened and get more details, and they ignored my calls. Apparently, Central Towing told Geico that they tried to reach me, and I never answered.

A whole lie; this company is very unprofessional and a major inconvenience. So, I had to start all over again with Geico, who set me up with a different tow company altogether. Avoid at all costs.

3 hours on road told to leave keys in car with increased theft and car jackings! Are they serious. DO NOT USE this company. Changed ETA for times and refuse to answer calls now since they have called ID. Have filed complaint with insurance company and hopefully they will do better by their customers and cancel/ not renew contract with these bafooneray company!

I called on a Saturday night around 11pm to have my car towed. I called many companies and most either didn't operate at that time or were at capacity. One of these companies gave me a referral to central heavy duty. When I explained my situation to central heavy duty, I was told that I would have to wait 4 or 5 hours. I wasn't surprised, but I told the receptionist on the line that I was unable to wait that long as my car was blocking a road. She then responded with an attitude and repeated that I would have to wait. So I asked her if she could refer me to another company. She snapped told me she didn't know any. I called about 7 different towing companies that night and all the other towing companies were very respectful. I originally was going to give this company 1 star, but I decided to give 2 only because I never actually received service, so I can't comment on their response time or pricing. They are supposedly 24 hrs, so they may be convenient but on the other hand they have a customer service issue.

Update:
1) At the time I was in Bowie and was looking for someone to tow my car so I was NOT looking for CHD in Hyattsville
2) I was looking for a tow, not any roadside assistance like a jumpstart
3) If they were unavailable at the time, they could have just said that. Like I mentioned before I called many other places prior to them who said they were unavailable. So if they said the same thing I would not be upset.

I posted a free 4,000 pound buoy on Craig’s list. The guy who wanted the buoy hired Central HEAVY DUTY Towing to come pick it up. Steve and Justin were pros. This buoy wanted to buck right off the truck but they methodically coaxed it up and chained it to the truck. Notice photo of tidy secure strap. Took an hour. They were great. Note, this is Central HEAVY DUTY Towing. Many of the poor reviews are for Central Towing, not Central Heavy Duty Towing - the big guys who handle trucks.

This was the worst experience of my entire life. Not only was the driver rude and unprofessional, so was his boss Tanvi. They came promptly enough… but when I told the driver where I put the keys he scolded me on the location of the keys and the state of the car. From the get go, he was complaint about how much work it was and how I need to drive better( all comments that were unnecessary to do his job). Then upon arriving to the tow destination, he would not drop the car in two spots showed, was again rude and scolded me for driving to fast( even though that wasn’t why I needed a tow) amount other things. As a customer, I was already stressed but him and his boss made the process infinitely worse. As Geico customer I expect better from the companies they use.

I broke down in Bowie, MD with a flat tire and I used roadside assistance with Geico and this company was selected to tow my car. The wait was a little long because they switched drivers but once the driver Dixon arrived everything went smooth. I felt like I was in good hands and we had a great conversation. He gave me tips and things like that and I appreciated his advice. I definitely enjoyed my service.

I needed towing service and called GEICO and they connected me with this company. I submitted the request 11:18am in the morning and I I was told ETA was 1:39pm. I waited till 2:30pm and called to check. They said the driver will arrive in 20 minutes. It’s now 3:58pm and I called again and they said the driver is 23 minutes away. I need towing service to take my car to a repair store and they will be closing soon. I wasted the whole day waiting for a towing car and still no service. I am very disappointed! I have used other towing companies before and this is by far the worst. I am not sure how they are still in business and why GEICO is still sending their clients to them.

One of the worst experience ever. I placed my roadside assistance call at 5:45PM through Geico and they put me through Central towing and the first ETA was at 7:15 PM I called at 7:20 PM and they said the driver was delayed to give them 35 minutes so the new update arrival was 7:55 PM they never showed. Then I check the status again then they said the new ETA was 8:25 PM and they ended up showing up at 8:45 PM. I had to wait 3 hours for their arrival. The worst ever
