I love this place! You don’t have to get out of your car and there’s hardly ever a wait. They take cardboard, bagged yard waste, bagged household trash, and more!

Friendly and informative staff. Appreciate that they take paint and appliances.

This place is great you pull in and a group of people unload your car for you. Glass is deposited separately in another area and you deposit the glass yourself. They take trash, mattresses & metals as well with a fee. Recycled goods are free.

Let me start by saying, the staff at this place is amazing and always willing to help unload anything at any amount of what I am bringing to this location to recycle!

Best customer service possible. I showed up with a truck full of cardboard and was great by two very friendly employees that treated my like the lost friend they had not seen for years. They quickly unloaded every bit of cardboard from my truck, I just sat there! Way to go Cherokee County.

The convenience and most EXCELLENT & HELPFUL staff makes recycling easy. If not already recycling, let me encourage and invite you to bring recyclables to this Cherokee County facility. I am glad we have this option in our community. Glenn Dowling

The closing hours on Saturday at noon, make it very difficult for working moms to recycle! Please consider staying open till at least 2 PM.

Great experience at the recycling center. Just dropped off a car load of flattened cardboard boxes. Lots of people working today. Everyone was nice and efficient. Grateful to have this resource nearby.

I went here a couple days ago because I had a crazy amount of cardboard from moving to GA and an IKEA trip that was not going to fit in my WM recycling bin. The website was helpful in giving info on what can be brought and their business hours. It was easy to find. I used Google maps to navigate there and there are clear signs of the entrance and exit. I pulled up and a man asked what I had and if I was a resident of Cherokee county, then directed me where to pull my car up to. There was a team of workers to grab materials so I just opened my trunk and they took care of my cardboard super quickly. I was in and out in minutes. It's not covered so I would recommend probably not going when it's raining if you are bringing cardboard.

I have never had a problem dropping off recycling here. The workers are always very friendly and I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes each week. Our trash service does not offer recycling so I appreciate having a place to take recyclables.

Quick, easy, and affordable (for Cherokee residents). Helpers were available for unloading. I dropped off an old water heater, air compressor, cardboard, and miscellaneous scrap metal.

Easy and friendly! They took my old TV for $21, and batteries and an old cell phone (for free). Feels good doing the right thing with our waste.

The staff is super nice and helpful, they receive cardboard, plastics, electronics, and more. One important thing, styrofoam must be bagged separately!! Or they won’t receive it.

**update a year later: Originally, when I wrote this in 2023 I gave this place 2 stars. Now bringing it down more after several interactions. I showed up at noon in the middle of the week and dude said they fill up before that every day. So, if I were you, I wouldn’t even bother coming to this place. County staff are rude and despite their free labor from a bunch of people doing community service, they still make this a miserable experience. Original post: Apparently their recycling bins fill up by Saturday, so you must go during the week (despite most people working during their weekday hours). Instead of 1) having extra bins, 2) emptying them prior to Saturdays, or 3) using any of their ample storage areas to hold overflow, they would like you to come during the week. Seems ridiculous that no one has the forethought to address this “known issue”, but would rather you “go to their Facebook page” to check the status of how full the bins are. I thought I did the right thing by checking their website, which they guy at the actual center said they “have no control over. Just look at Facebook”. Which is annoying since 1) I’m not on it and 2) they actually have a website. So, fair warning before you travel to this annoying to get to location and waste an hour out of your day…..check Facebook. Or if you like me, throw it away at this point. What choice do I have. Take time off work to potentially get rejected because they cannot manage what would seemingly be a simple logistics problem. By they way, they don’t take wood (I was rejected previously for that, and they told me to check the website haha). That was my fault for not checking. I’ve had decent experiences here several times, but I doubt I go back. 50/50 isn’t good odds. *** Update thanks to the response I got from Troy the manager for the facility. They don’t fill up *by Saturday, just extra quickly on Saturdays (before noon lately). He said they post it on Facebook when that happens. I got there a bit before 1 and was turned away. I suppose my update would be get there early OR check their Facebook. I think it’s ridiculous, but the dude said that’s where most of their customers are. My advice: build another dock, get more bins (and a tractor to move them as they fill up), or build a shed to hold overflow (out of the weather) until the next bin is dropped off.

This facility is always full lately (2023 and 2024) and unable to accept additional materials when we try to drop off. We’re going to give up attempting to drop anything off at the location until there are improvements. Attempts have all been mid week and typically during off hours if there is such a thing. (9-10AM - not near holidays)

Never been to the blalock location but the bells ferry one is absolutely horrible. First time here and the person there is the rudest and most useless person ever. The signs are very faded and unclear so I wasn’t sure what I could put in the bin. The man sees what I’m doing and waits till I’m done to tell me I can’t do that. He’s telling me to fold boxes and pick some stuff up off the ground meanwhile he’s on the phone talking to someone on loud speaker. I hope he’s not getting paid all that much to yell at people and sit on his phone.

Tried to recycle this morning at the Blalock Road location. Got there at 9:10 am. Long line of cars in both directions. My line was almost to Toonigh! Waited until 10 am in line and had to leave to go to another appointment and only got to Park entrance. There HAS to be a better way to handle peak volume processing than this! More centers, more dumpster pick ups to central center, more dumpsters, more lanes for recycling, etc.

They don't tell people there's a FB page that posts 40 minutes notice when they're full and will turn people away. How are we supposed to know that? Some of us drive a long way to try to recycle. Discouraging! Some consideration and information would go a long way!

The Recycle Center was easy to find, and the Workers were Extremely helpful and friendly! I won't hesitate to revisit with My Recyclables. It's Important to Contribute to the Life of Our Planet.

Staff is always courteous, friendly and helpful. Always a great experience. Glad that they are so close since Waste Management stopped picking up recycling. Only downside is business hours are aligned with typical business hours, so its nearly impossible for me to drop anything here during the week day; shame the hours aren't 10-6 or something, but that's just a personal gripe and in no way reflects on the workers.

Several times I've wasted my time driving all the way over there from Waleska, only to find them closed, even though their wesite said they were open. We've decided to just stop recycling. The City of waleska's trash service no longer provides recycle pick up, and you can't count on Cherokee's recycling centers to be open. We want to do our part, but it's just become way too inconvenient. We went to the Hopgood park location on a Sunday, afternoon. Yes, your hours are posted on your website. I checked to make sure you were open before we went. When we got there, there, the gates were open, but there was a big sign taped to the dumpster that said CLOSED. We asked the attendant, who was sitting in his truck, when it would be open, and he just shrugged. We went and did a little shopping and came back by about 30 minutes later, and the closed sign was still on the dumpster.

Permanent recycling staff folks are attentive and professional. The temporary work staff is hit-or-miss… it’s a hard job and I have had both very good and not so good experiences with them… but face it “community service” isn’t supposed to be fun. Overall, generally easy and quick in/out. I highly recommend as a county run recycling facility.

Today, the manager took time to share his excitement about the County’s newly acquired glass recycling equipment. Soon, glass will be transformed into a product usable in our parks and roads. Good work!

FROM CHEROKEE COUNTY RECYCLE CENTER "The Recycling Center is for Cherokee County users to drop off recyclable items such as paper, plastic, glass, metal tires and appliances. FEES MAY APPLY" Very frustrated because I wasted the time to drive there. **TIRES.** ITS IN THEIR OWN DESCRIPTION ON GOOGLE THAT I PASTED ABOVE JUST NOW. BUT WHEN YOU GET THERE THEY TELL YOU THEY ***NO LONGER TAKE TIRES.*** When you make a policy change maybe you should update your self description on the web? Other than that, nice and clean.

I am grateful that our county affords the citizens the ability to do their part in being good stewards. The managers are professional, the workers are friendly and always greet you with a smile and a helping hand. I love Cherokee County!!!!
