Crooked. Quoted for $950 for 10 miles of towing and overnight storage. Finally dropped the price to just over $300 after asking for itemized receipt and threatening to file a report to the dmv. Owner, Dan, speaks down to women, and is incredibly patronizing. Stay Away from this heap of an establishment! Will still be filing complaints with the state.

Picked up my pickup at my house. Towed it to there shop, fixed it and delivered it to my work before end of day. That's service!!

I needed a local tow for an AWD vehicle. First they sent a hook truck instead of a flatbed even though I specifically said my car was AWD. After another wasted 30 minutes they got a flatbed to me. Upon getting the car to its destination I had realized that the driver had improperly put the straps through my alloy wheels, instead of around the tires as a competent driver would have. As a result the straps damaged my wheels. When I brought the issue up to the owner, Dan Merli, he agreed that they were at fault and agreed to pay for the damage, sending me to a specific wheel repair shop that was almost an hour away to take car of the damage. When I returned to Dan Merli with a bill from the repair shop, he refused to pay for it and proceeded to tell me a whole bunch of lies. These lies included that he never approved of the repair, that I had different wheels on my car when it was towed, and that he was not legally responsible for any damage that happens during a tow. Apparently his insurance company did not agree with him, because in the end they paid the full price of the repair. I gave Dan every chance to take care of it without getting insurance involved, even inconveniencing myself to do so. Dan Merli is a liar and a cheat. Edit: Dan also seems to think that $2000 Enkei wheels are “cheap,” just going to show how little he knows about cars. He also seems to think that his customers having 2 different color wheels on their car as a result of his driver’s incompetence is acceptable. The wheel shop he sent me to said if they didn’t refinish all 4 that they would never match again, they even pulled the paint code to get them looking as close to how they were before the tow driver damaged them… That was their course of action to fix Merli’s mistake. But I guess Dan doesn’t care about his customer’s cars looking like they did before his incompetent drivers damaged them.

Merli Towing came through for me. Great service, and price was good. Jason was kind and courteous and very experienced getting the job done. Probably not the easiest tow ever, but he did it all calmly and professionally. Dan Sr. who took my calls was also pleasant and professional. I appreciate this business and would highly recommend. Thankyou guys!

Totally dissatisfied with their service! I'm not going to go into details, but I will state that this was the worst experience I've ever had with any service! Very unprofessional staff and my vehicle sustained more damage then what initially happened during the accident!

I can only say good things about Dan's operation. Ace Automatic Transmissions in Torrington CT recommended them. His driver (Josh I think) is a good guy, knows how to treat a vehicle like his own. I've had them tow my daily driver and also had them move a 80k callaway tahoe. Josh took special care to use soft straps and microfiber towels around the custom wheels so the straps didn't scuff them. Having your vehicle towed is usually never fun but these guys will take care of you so that it's one less thing to worry about. I don't think I'll use anyone else in the future. Update 11/1 - Thanks Dan for getting my ride back to Callaway. Not even snow stopped you! On time, professional. Like I said in the past, I dont think Ill use anyone else!

Excellent service and professional drivers. Fast and quick response. Plan of service with complete laid out plans, towed our truck and camper back home even when it was over 300 miles away. Also would like to mention their beautiful trucks.

I was unfortunately in a car accident, totaling my beloved car! They were very kind in bringing me to their lot after the accident to wait to be picked up, helped me remove some of my personal items from my car, removed the license plates there for me when I returned to get the remainder of my personal items out of my car for the last time,and answered my questions and kept me in the loop as to what was happening next. Very appreciative.

On time if not earlier to get to my friend and me. Quickly loaded it and actually beat me to the location I needed him to drop at. Very satisfied!!

After a long day at work and my brakes completely failing on the way home, I called Merli's and they were there within 10 minutes to tow my vehicle. Professional and courteous, highly recommended.

3 minutes ago Ever since ( 30++yrs) I have been going to Merli auto, I have been treated both fairly and repeatedly professional especially since dealing with one of the new management team members whose name is Darren Merli. It seems a lot has changed since one of the Brothers has retired... I was a little ambivalent. I thought things would not go well.... Wow, now I'm willing to wait for days for my appointment for simple auto repairs that they're still doing. It is worth the wait. Although their focus is on trucks and big time construction vehicles, Darren still found time for me. Don't be put off by the specter of huge vehicles everywhere, they are still the best at satisfying old customers and probably new. The 1st gen. of Merlis would be proud of these guyz.

Great service. I got a rented truck stuck in my driveway. They were there within 15 minutes and had it out within 30. Very pleasant to work with, professional and helpful. They saved the day.

So my car was towed by winsted police (my fault expired license) these guys towed the car back to there torrington location which is on the Litchfield town line and charged me $4.75 a mile all the way back which I think is very unfair as there are towing companies alot closer to winsted and after having my car towed a month later by a different company in winsted I learned I could have requested someone else which I would have done if I had known. I wanted to pick the car up Sunday morning it said they are 24 hours they aren't I had to come down on Monday to get it and they charged me 3 days of storage they were very nice in the office but how can you claim to be 24 hours if you are closed that's false advertising and to tow me from winsted to Litchfield when there's other garages in town. let's be real something isn't right with that!

I cannot say enough how amazing the customer service was for this company. My car was hit and totalled in a snow storm 100 miles from my home. AAA would not drive me home in the blizzard, I was stranded, but these guys drove me the 100 miles home. I am so grateful to have been a customer to this wonderful company.
