Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Brought my dirtbike cylinder in to get bored and honed. Got it back with the top of the cylinder chewed up. Was told to buy a new piston and he would re bore it. When I asked for a refund the woman just got rude and hung up.
The machining they have done on my 440 engine has been spot-on. Tim is very friendly and always willing to answer my questions. The prices have been very fair, and Tim the owner doesn't try to sell me machining I don't really need. Would highly recommend going there, and is my go-to automotive machine shop.
I will never use this business again nor would I ever refer anyone to them. The owner Tim was rude to me over the phone and flat out lied to me in person. Its one thing if you cannot do the job but to lie to a customer is just uncalled for, and when I asked why he didn't call me and tell me he couldn't do the job I was told " I figured you'd call eventually and to come get my parts."
I took a few stock HD cylinders in to have .01" bore done. I took my brand new pistons, rings, and instructions from the piston manufacturer on how to ensure proper boring was completed. I was told by TIm that my cylinders had been Nikasil plated and that his hone wouldn't be able to do the job.
2 things: Nikasil is a secondary operation sometimes done to aluminum cylinders, this is not the case. Factory HD does not do this to cylinders and secondly, who tries to HONE .01"....... 20 yrs ago while in college I was a machinist. You don't hone that much material off you would be there for days. You would bore .007"-.008" and hone the remaining amount. Nikasil is slightly, slightly magnetic, I took a small .250" diameter by .125" thick magnet with me, and it immediately smacked to the inside of the cylinder wall.
He had no reason to be that rude to me nor lie to me about why he couldn't do the job. They came with a very strong reputation, and I was told were well versed in machining HD cylinders. Clearly this wasnt the case and I won't ever waste my time bothering to dial there number again.
Very good people to deal with I had cylinder heads gone through work was done on time and we had an issue with valve springs that I supplied that where wrong they called me about it and they came up with a solution I feel some places would have not even called to inform would deal with fondy auto machine again
I had a blown headgasket on my 95 Audi S6 I5 Turbo, and I had Tim go through my head. He redid the valve seals, surfaced the head, cleaned up all the valves and backcut them a bit. Car runs great, very good quality work. Will deal with again!
Tim has completely rebuilt 3 motors for me and they always have been very professional and the motors run great! Good quality workmanship, honest people, good pricing. I will be having them perform machining for me on future engines and assembly as needed. This is a great family ran business.
I dropped off 2 heads to have looked at and see if either was repairable and what a cost to repair would be. I told them I could buy a new head for $2200 so i wanted to be no where near that for the repairs. A week went by, I never heard anything. I called and asked if they had a quote together, I was told parts were being washed and they would get right back to me. Another week went by, I called and asked if they had a quote yet, they told me they were working on it and would get right back to me. Another week goes by and i get a call that my head is repaired and my total bill is 2224.42 I do not feel this is right I was never given the quote I asked for and per chapter atcp132 Wis. admin. code administered by the bureau of consumer Protection they cannot make repairs with out giving the estimate I asked for 3 times. Their only solution to the problem is to pay the amount due in full or pay him 295.05 and he will remove all parts and damage the head. I feel neither is a suitable resolution. If the head was repairable, him damaging it could make it not repairable and it will not be the complete head i took in also charging me anything is not right because i didn't authorize any repairs or costs to be incurred i have offered to pay 1300 for repairs that i did not authorize in a attempt to resolve this and get this truck on the road but he has refused. i would not recommend anyone take anything to this shop they are crooks
