like many others have found, once you have a problem with a part they sell, you are out of luck, as they have zero customer service by phone or on their website. bought a starter for my car, didnt fit and was wildly different than original, but because i had to try to install it to discover that it didnt fit, they wont accept a return or exchange. thats it. zero recourse. lower cost for a reason. i wont bother next time.

Rockauto has gone from 5 stars to 1 for me. Ordered 2 of the same stabilizer bars. One came with black, internal bushings, the other came with blue, external bushings. Same order included a bushing kit. Picture showed 2 bolts, 2 nuts, 2 washers, 2 metal sleeves, and 4 bushings. I received exactly half of that. Double-checked text description. One part said "no bolt included" while another said "bolt included: 1"??? No phone number to speak to a human. No email to resolve problems. Returns process is a joke! I will find someone else to deal with in the future. (I bet no one in the company will even look at these reviews!)

I have ordered from Rockauto a few times before with no issues, this time however the part, a simple turn signal socket is not the same as what is on the vehicle. They will refund the part but not the original shipping and only half the return shipping. Since you cannot talk to anyone or provide photographic proof that the parts are not the same, I am stuck buying it somewhere else and have paid to ship it here and to return it. It is a shame when there really is not customer service. Lesson learned, do not trust them or buy from them because they really don’t care about you.

I ordered a truck battery. . .was in a cardboard box that was 2 or 3 times as big as the battery--and they used those green air packets for protection. EVERY SINGLE ONE HAD POPPED. I got absolutely lucky that the battery was NOT cracked or damaged. It was obviously dropped, and/or rolled. It's another website that makes you jump through flaming hoops if you have a complaint or want to speak with customer service. I will not order anything from them again.

I will admit this company has great prices for parts for your car. But they play some serious games when it comes to shipping. I ordered rotors and pads for my Q50. Not only did I not receive the package, not because of me but because the carrier reported an issue with the package. Meaning it was damaged during its transit. So one would think you get a complete refund for something like this right? Well not rockauto. Not only did they charge me for shipping to my house that was never completed but they also charged me for the carrier bringing it back. So I essentially paid 95 dollars for product that never made it to my house. Leading me to order another set of pads and paying shipping on that again. It really blows my mind how this is my fault and that their shipping insurance isn't covering those costs. Sucks that their the only company with the best prices so I have no choice but to order parts from them. And let's not mention the other issue I found out while my car was on the lift, I was sent 2 left lower control arms when the order was clearly for the left and right lower control arm, which I had to reorder and pay shipping on yet again. But it really sucks how scummy and dirty this is to the customer. It's straight up a slap to the face. Thank god I used my capital one card because I've already disputed the entire charge cause clearly they practice some seriously dirty business tactics... Never had a problem with them before but clearly their customer service is definitely taking a backseat to their core business model

Still waiting for refund 9 months now. This company is criminal and a fraud. I hope they go out of business soon. They sent used damaged parts twice and both times expected me to pay for return shipping. They are criminals. Will never use them again. Damaged box prior to shipping, parts dropped in warehouse broke aluminium tabs. They still shipped parts knowing they were damaged. Gave them a chance to make it right and again they failed. Unbelievable that this company stays in business. To ad to this they lied about the refund which triggered an investigation by my credit card company for fraud. Pricing for parts was not even worth it. DO not recommend this company as they sell used broken parts with intent. Not good! Update Dec 2025, still waiting for refund and just returned exhaust Cateletics as the fit was poor and damaged. It is clear that Rock auto is a remarker of used parts and not an authorized dealer. Should be avoided at all costs. They are a rip off with limited customer service.

Customer service is non existent. Ordered a part, fat-fingered the digit in the address. Reached out immediately—before it even shipped—and asked them to fix it. Response? Crickets. They wouldn’t touch it. Package bounces back to them. Cool. Then they hit me with double shipping charges (out + return), wiping out the refund. So I get nothing back. They keep my money and keep the product I never received. This is straight-up predatory. Customer "service" doesn't exist here. Save yourself the headache and shop somewhere else.

I have ordered numerous items from Rock Auto. Usually, I'm satisfied with their service. On my last order I ordered 13 quarts of oil and 2 oil filter cartridges. They were thrown in the bottom of the box with the motor oil. The filters were not in a box or bag. How they arrived in one piece is anyone's guess. I will order these filters by themselves from now on.

I’ve used RockAuto for years, but this experience killed any trust I had in them. FedEx marked my order as “delivered,” but the delivery photo clearly shows the package left unattended in an unsecured location. The package was never received. When I contacted RockAuto, they refused to help in any way — no replacement, no refund. Instead, they told me to file a police report and contact my “insurance,” without explaining what insurance they’re referring to. This was a normal online purchase. No shipping insurance was offered or disclosed, and expecting customers to involve homeowners or renters insurance over a retailer’s delivery failure is ridiculous. RockAuto chose the carrier and delivery method. Passing all responsibility to the customer after an unsafe drop-off is unacceptable. Filing a police report doesn’t recover the package and doesn’t excuse poor customer service. If something goes wrong with delivery, don’t expect RockAuto to stand behind their sale. Buy at your own risk.

I bought a part through a friend of mine using his card because mine and another person's wasn't working. And I didn't know but the next day I went into my back of my car and found a brand new window motor. So I returned the one they sent me. And I never took it out of the box however they charged me to send it back. And when I did they charge me 10 dollars to send it back and that's fine. And they charged me a restocking fee of $10. I paid 43 for the window motor and I get back $23 so in other words I won't be buying another thing from them ever.

Looked up the Porsche part I needed in the official Porsche catalog. Searched the part number on RockAuto to find alternatives to the OEM brand. Found 7 on the RockAuto website. Chose one and checked the part numbers cross-referenced to ensure they match Porsche's. They did. I ordered the part, and installed same day. Parts don't work. Defective. I try to get a refund or exchange so at least it works, RockAuto says it's my fault because I didn't also use their fitment tool to ensure it's not for the wrong car - why would I need to use your whatever tool, you have the cross-referenced part number on display to verify. Apparently part numbers are irrelevant on their website for reference. The fitment tool is wrong, it's the right friggin' part you fools. It's the same part across ALL 911's per the Porsche catalog. So, because their fitment tool is broken, they won't refund the full amount. Wild stuff. Don't support businesses that are wrong and refuse to admit it. It's bad business, bad juju.

I like everything you do. I rebuild cars and count on you to be my first go to. I'm a realest and don't expect that you can do everthing to meet the needs of every customer. The cost of shipping today is the one thing that causes me to use my local supliers. If there was a way to help in that area it would be fantastic. Thank you

Bought new Bosch battery in October ‘25, battery has completely died by January ‘26. Company has told me I have to BUY ANOTHER, pay for its shipping, THEN PAY SHIPPING AGAIN TO RETURN ORIGINAL BATTERY FOR A REFUND, because I moved to a different address. All despite the 4-year manufacturer warranty, which Rockauto SAYS they honor.

I have purchased all of my needed car parts through RockAuto and have never had an issue. Very fast shipping and delivery. I also ordered a wrong part, however they made the return process was very simple! 10/10 recommend. Make sure you are doing your research before buying parts though!!

Rockauto cut off my refund to 26 $ from 41$ I've been told that they will charge me 7$ for return shipping. after I got my refund I found out that they charge me 2 times for the return shipping and my part is a camshaft gasket.which is very light weight!! So I have to pay for the shipping 3 times.

Ordered rotors and brakes that were shipped 11/03/25 installed them on my jeep compass on 11/16/25. They were installed by a master mechanic, on 12/30/25 horrible grinding and vibration started. Took the jeep to the same mechanic on 1/2/26 the passenger side pad was completely obliterated with zero pad left, the driver side had less than half pad remaining. Unsafe inferiority as to products. I initiate a return with pics and proof and they expect me to pay more shipping both ways to return the pads, then they will send me an exact replacement. Yeah, thats not happening why would I put a product with proven failure back on my vehicle. I'll stick to autozone from now on. Do NOT purchase parts from rockauto as they sell very cheap and foreign products

It's good as long as you don't have trouble. I ordered a part and had trouble. By the time I was done getting a mechanic second opinion, finding a new part, ordering and waiting for the new part, scheduling a mechanic to r&r the new part (during Thanksgiving) the 59 day return deadline expired. I then received an email stating such and further proceeding to argue that I made an error in part selected. I now have an extra catalytic converter that works but makes noise. And, advertised as direct fit for a Honda cr-v same as second. First one EPA second C.A.R.B compliant. Their argument was honda cr-v required C.A.R.B so, no refund on first cat due to selection error. Been regular customer for 10+ years and liked it better when they could afford a phone. I no longer buy from Rockauto. Better off at Amazon, Partsgeek, or eBay (if trouble they'll try to help).

I recently placed a order at Rockauto for a part that as a rule is sold as a kit or a pair. I needed both sides of this sway bar suspension part, and assumed it was a package of 2. The comparable part with the other manufacturers are sold in pairs. Well, when the parts arrived, it was a single, not both sides or 2. I contacted Customer Service at Rockauto and explained my misinterpreted order and hoped for some leniency for the shipping for the second half of the parts I needed. I got a hard no, and offered nothing in return. After I placed my follow-up order, the part I needed was $9.61 less now since 4 days ago. Again I contacted Customer Service to get that $9.61 difference back as a credit to offset the additional cost, but again received a hard NO, claiming the part went surplus since my first order. I don't think, I was treated fairly and now Customer Service is ignoring my request for the price adjustment, they created. I'm very disappointed with Rockauto after years of ordering parts there, without any returns. Shame on you Rockauto.

Buyer beware of what parts you buy. While most of my purchases from them have been successful, any suspension related parts have not. It all depends on what you buy. For example, I bought a (what I thought was) a fairly decent set of struts for my 2016 Ford Focus. Several weeks after I installed them I started to hear loud rattling noises from the front when driving. I thought they had come loose somehow, but both sides were still tight. It is the strut itself, poor quality. I shouldn't have to drive like this, but I don't have the time to take it all back apart and deal with sending them back and taking a chance of exchanging them for another set of poor quality struts. My son also got a pair of poor quality Rancho rear shocks for his Silverado from them. He returned them and bought them from another source with no issues. This whole experience has made me not wanting to buy anything from them ever again.

For a few years now I’ve gotten my parts from rockauto, from exhaust pieces, to recently a new starter for the car. Shipping has always been incredibly fast and well before the estimated ship data. I never go to the big brand name stores anymore due to the crazy mark up they put on parts. High highly recommend getting your parts through this company!

My experience with RockAuto has been excellent and I have been a customer since 2011 and have spent literally thousands of dollars. I have never had an issue with them. Am I just lucky? I read reviews about people getting used parts instead of new, defective parts that Rockauto "knew" were defective, refunds that never happened. As I am nothing special I can't believe that I have not had a bad experience in 14 years of buying. I have to believe that I either do my homework and know what it is that I am buying or I know what is their fault and what isn't. They usually have the part I need, their prices are almost always MUCH lower than the local stores even when shipping is involved, I always get my stuff days before the estimated ETA and I've never gotten a bad part. Have I messed up and ordered incorrectly? Yes. Is the return process super simple? No, but it's not complicated, and why should they pay shipping for my error? While I can't speak for anyone else, Rockauto has saved me easily 20% overall on my purchases over the last 14 years. I will continue to use them as long as they continue to provide the same great pricing and service I'm getting from them now.

I'm a United States Marine and I have been using this company for about 7 years now. I recently placed a big order. They have my name, address, phone number and email in the system. But I just found out, the unit number was missing when they attempted to send me the parts I needed ASAP. The Unit number is in my address. It automatically populates when you attempt to put in your address. Not only were they clueless on my proper address, they had the audacity to ship everything back to their warehouses, and charge me for the shipping again. Then had the nerve to ask me to reorder what I already ordered and pay for the shipping twice. Folks, their return policy is a joke, the parts all go to different parts of the US, and you must pay for the shipping to go back to facilities. Instead of doing their due diligence to correct their mistake, they make you redo the order twice and charge you for the shipping all over again. Now I have to wait weeks to get my money credited back to my account minus the shipping costs. FYI: UPS was a bigger joke to attempt to correct one simple error. They told me contact RockAuto, which was a mute point. It was imperative I received the parts on time. Prices aside, don't waste your time with this company. They have continued issues with sending out wrong parts and simple resolutions. There are much better companies to order car parts from. Do yourself a favor, make sure whoever you use for any shipping orders, make sure they have a customer service phone number to actually talk to someone about simple corrections.

A lot of mixed reviews out there and opinions. So I will share mine. I needed ignition coils for my Honda. I found them on the website and was able to compare about 30 various types and get a good feel for what I wanted. Placed the order and it arrived exactly as stated via UPS on the day estimated. I was able to complete the repairs on my day off as planned and my car runs beautiful. Turns out I actually ordered the exact replacement of hitachi that honda uses. So that was very nice. Very pleased with my transaction.

I bought a car and decided to replace the ugly wiper blade with the factory one. Of course, I ordered a Motocraft with part number WW2600 and expected to receive something that matched the photo on the website. Instead, I received something completely different—a Chinese blade in a box that doesn't match the brand I ordered, nor does it have a printed sticker. There's no feedback on the website! You can return it, but you'll have to pay for it yourself. So, I paid $11 for the order and $10 for shipping, and now, because of their error, they're asking me to return it for $10 or keep it. It seems they're not taking any responsibility for deceiving me, and I just lost $20.

Ordered a Brake Caliper for my vehicle. It was advertised as new. When my mechanic finally opened the box we discovered the part was rebuilt and damaged. I attempted to file a return on the website and mistakenly selected a wrong answer to one of the questions on the return form. They immediately flagged my part as non returnable but the part was the exactly the right part for my vehicle. I cannot make any changes to the return form... cannot reach anyone to discuss my mistake. I paid double the cost for a part that I later found on Ebay.. and the part was not new as they advertised. I'm highly disappointed with this company.. my first time ordering and I will never order again

I would leave zero stars if I could. Though their prices are good, their customer service is terrible. They state that all your questions can be answered in the Help section. That is BS. I ordered some parts a few years ago. They wore out while still under warranty. I followed their instructions to apply for a refund for the parts. They authorized returns for both parts, but they have to go back to 2 different warehouses. I was prompted to order replacements parts first, then they would have me return the worn out parts after my mechanic takes the old ones out and puts the new ones in. The new parts came from 1 warehouse this time. So I got the new parts and my mechanic informed me that Rockauto sent the wrong part in one of the boxes. He had to buy the correct part locally in order to get my car off his lift. That means I now have Three parts to return. The incorrectly boxed part, plus the two worn out parts. This makes things complicated. The computer system knows that I bought 2 replacement parts and wants to process my returns against the new order. But that doesn't work, because I have to also return the incorrect part on the new order. In my efforts to figure out what to do, I discovered that the computer system now thinks that I didn't get authorization for my returns! Huh?? This is why they NEED to have a customer service person that you can either call or chat with. I've tried emailing them (it took me 2 days to find their email) but haven't gotten any response. Two and a half years ago when I had returns, the process went very smoothly. But this new and terribly frustrating situation has really soured me on Rockauto.com. I can't recommend them any more.

I come to Rock Auto as a last resort, and they without fail disappoint. Every time I order something, its never a smooth transaction. I recently had an order get delayed and eventually cancelled without notification. My latest order comprised of two oil filters with one of them missing a gasket kit and what looked like a previously used box that had oil stains on it. I went to process a refund and attempted to have the gasket kit sent or at least get some kind of store credit....they wont process it until I ship the filter back at MY COST. Are you kidding me?? The discounted shipping label they provide costs me more than what my refund will be on the oil filter. So all said and done, I got screwed out of time, money, and now have a part I can't do anything with. Thankfully this is all over something that costs $6.95 but a lesson learned on what I would deal with if it was a more critical order and situation. The fact that I cannot speak to a human at this company gives me a feeling of being blatantly disrespected. Also, their shipping costs....what a scam. I always find myself backing out of cheap orders because the shipping costs coming from seven different places makes it not worth the value.

As other customers have noted, this is not an honest company and communication is slow and difficult as it is exclusively through email. When issues arise, they just don't respond. I ordered two VVT sensors and used their compatibility table to ensure proper fitment. However, when I pulled one of the two sensors out, it was completely different than the one they sent, despite their website showing it was the right part. The other sensor was fine. I arranged to return the incorrect sensor. The return was approved and I wrote a note on the return slip to notify them of the error on their website and to let them know which part to exchange it for. However, after I mailed the wrong part back, they immediately sent out the same part as a replacement, before receiving the incorrect part back and before seeing my note. I emailed them and was told to just send the replacement part back for a full refund after I receive it. The second refund was approved. However, they now charged me for return shipping and to add insult to injury, after receiving the replacement part back, they charged me an additional 17% re-stocking fee. In two separate email correspondences regarding this refund, they refused to accept any responsibility for the mistake, despite acknowledging the error initially, and just stopped responding to emails altogether. Customers should not be made to pay for their company's mistakes! This is not how an honest company does business and I refuse to deal with Rock Auto anymore and I would advise others to stay away from them as well!

Had to replace a broken tail light on my truck. I was expecting to spend at least $150 for one, but found that I could get a pair for under $80 including shipping!! ROCKAUTO had exactly what I needed and shipping was very quick. The lights were well packaged and arrived in perfect condition via UPS. They installed easily, work perfectly, and look great!!

Customer is forced to pay for seller's mistake. Bought a vapor cannister with their compatibility check, received the item, it is very different than the original part in the car, it has a different tube fitting size, has no mounting screw holes and is missing side valve mounting bracket. As a result, it can't be installed at all. But now I have to pay to ship it back after paying for shipping to get an incompatible part in the first place. Why should the customer be forced to pay for the seller's mistake in false advertising on the combability of a part? There is no way to talk to anyone to resolve this, very frustrating and difficult experience.
