Grew up recycling and at 56 years of age my best experience is at Heller's. Up to a certain amount I'm paying in cash and the staff work hard to keep the line working smoothly and a timely manner.
Very good people; the women in the office is really nice and very helpful. Don't do much of this type of recycling, but don't think I'll go anywhere else when I have anything that's recycled this way
Should've started coming here years ago! Can't beat their weekend hours plus I got paid way more than expected for aluminum cans I'll certainly be back before winter!
This yard Is exponential I one day came here because of this guy named Slim (old school) I called Him RIP told me they were open seven days a week and then I came here every day for two months in a row after that I have been here for a couple years as well as scrapping give or take, and I have learned a lot of knowledge all the people on site working and Jay are experts in their field, I give my thanks and appreciation/respect to all of this business. Highly recommended.
An off the beaten path scrapyard. Open 7 days a week. Can get congested near closing especially on weekends when hours of operation are shorter..Jay Heller has competitive pricing and knowledgeable staff. They takevitemsbothervyards don't..also offers cardboard recycling.
I read the great reviews and made the decision to go to Heller's. It was a bit confusing, my first trip: don't pull in the back parking lot. Back right in off the road, being courteous to those already in line. Google maps is accurate.
There were helpful regular customers and super helpful employees. Just follow their instructions and they will assist you with unloading into different bins. (Thank you!!) They are very kind. Plenty of cheerful and sociable folks waiting their turn, very orderly.
Here's the part that was so professional: #1 ID is required for checking out at the front door. #2 I received a very detailed invoice of the assorted types of metals that I brought. #3 The payout was fantastic, I was surprised and pleased. It was worth my time and fuel. Speaking of time, don't arrive in the last hour of the day, it's a mite busy. I will be back. Highly recommended. Well worth the trip.

Businesses like this one are disappearing locally and nationally. Family type, owner is in the shop working not in some corporate office. Hellers should be a local monument preserving the memory of healthy capitalistic American ideals and values. You won't miss establishments as such until they are extinct, but then it's too late.
I went there today for the first time. It's a small place, but Heller was friendly. He charged about $4 per tire to recycle, so better than most auto repair centers. And he told me they actually pay a few dollars for appliances with freon, like air conditioning units and refrigerators. Most places charge $10-$30 for freon units and may even require you to remove the freon first, but Heller pays a couple dollars and takes the freon, so that's a win-win in my book.
we took a tralier with a truck bed full of scrap, we left without the bed and scrap with only 35 dollars. we also sat there for over an hour. im not pleased nor will i ever go back there.
The only one open every day and Jay is a good person that knows about metals and their value. I was late getting back and he stayed open later that day. They are fair price and they accept just about everything
Good updated prices, pays cash in hand unlike other recycling companies near by, brought aluminum cans in at 45cents a pound, had 73 pounds and got 33$ for the cans and had 3 pounds of coated copper and got 8$ at 2.50$ish a pound, fair honest prices and process
