Browns has again made me feel comfortable in having a service station work on my vehicle. I do most of my own work with a few exceptions and front end alignment is one of them.
They completed the work in a very timely manner and did not look for “other issues “ to rack up the bill.

This is my “Go to” repair shop! This shop has always provided me with an accurate account of car repair necessities; unlike other shops. Other shops usually falsely report repair needs, just to make the most amount of money that they can. In other words, they lie! Brown’s automotive will save you money, while also doing a great job repairing your vehicle. (Had engine repair)
Browns was able to get my truck in for maintenance quick and was responsive on all of my concerns. They were thorough, had good communication, and kept me updated on any price changes when more issues were discovered. It’s hard to find a reliable mechanic shop but I trust taking my families vehicles to Browns. Would recommend to anyone in the Smithfield area.
Browns Auto in Smithfield is my go to mechanic for any and all things related to my vehicles. I have used there services for roughly 10 years now. I have trusted them to service two different Jeeps, two different Mini Coupers, my Ram and now my Ford Bronco. The Bronco just happened to catch the eye of one of the young ladies working the service desk today, she said it was amazing and she was jealous. Truth be told, have to give my wife full credit for the Bronco, I was looking at a less expensive trim, she chose the wildtrak. Anyone who has been married as long as us knows that once the wife makes up her mind, no sense in trying to change it. I degress though, Browns has always been great, from the front desk to the back of the garage we have always been well taken care of. I highly recommend thier no nonsense decently priced expert services to anyone in the area.
Went in for my state inspection. First time I failed for brakes and the staff took me to the vehicle to show me exactly what failed and then why. I was given an estimate incase I wanted the shop to handle it. I chose to take care of it and took it back. My re inspection was fast and the staff was professional and polite. Overall very nice experience.
Since we’ve moved to Smithfield, we have been taking our vehicles to Browns Automotive. They have consistently provided great service for all of our vehicles, mechanically and customer service wise. We will continue to bring them our business!
People were outstanding, explained everything in detail, and didn't try to be me. Pricing seems to be on the higher side,but the workers were excellent.
Wonderful experience - after reading reviews, we have trusted Browns to service our older vehicles exceptionally and honestly since moving to Smithfield. However, I was nervous to take my less than 2 yo Lincoln to anyone other than the dealer (warranty). But with an inspection due in 1 week, and no availability at dealer until January (4 months!) I reached out to Browns. They were able to get me in the next morning and were even able to add a last minute oil change (can’t wait until January for that either!). They have earned our trust.
I made an appointment to get my Jeep State inspected, got a email confirming appointment, showed up for appointment, was told I didn't have an appointment, showed the girl the confirmation on my phone, She said she didn't know what happened. I was told that it would be at least an hour wait but she couldn't guarantee anything.That happened in May of 2025 . They keep asking me for a review, so here it is.
My front tires were wearing on the inside, Brown's performed an alignment & rotated the tires & I haven't seen any tire wear since & the truck drives straight, no pulling or vibrations! I recommend them for all repairs & maintenance on vehicles!
This place is incredibly welcoming and respectful. They provided me with the most detailed diagnostics report I’ve ever received, and they gave me honest feedback while getting my car in and out. I’ll definitely be coming back and referring others in the area.
Everyone was very friendly. My 2023 Charger was getting inspected. They said I needed windshield wipers. That was no surprise to me because I had notice blades were getting worn. They even brought the old blades for me to view. Reasonable pricing. I will be back.
I took my car in for tpms replacement and a non working AC. Was told about the cost, with a diagnostic fee on a Friday. I told the service manager that I felt that the cost was going to be too high to do the work. He quoted me $1800 to do all the work. I told him to go ahead. Monday I get another message saying it would be $2500. I called because I thought they wanted permission to do the work. He said that they all ready started the work and the computer had a problem Friday and when it repopulated my invoice it added the correct costs. If I wouldn't have had the extra $800 I would not have got my car for awhile. It is sad to see that this seems to be a normal thing with these shops around me, take the car and do the work without seeing if it can be paid for. I guess they just want to rip off people to make their money.
Danny pulled my 2017 nissan titan xd diesel into his shop and diagnosed the lack of power and fuel mileage I was getting. Turned out to be the actuator on the turbo. Truck runs perfect again and I was able to get it back to my life without any headache. I appreciate you all and from now on all my company vehicles will be coming here for work.
I was in an accident and was worried I'd have to wait at least an hour for a tow truck to be dispatched. However, not only did their team make it in a record timeframe; they also offered and gave me a free ride home, which was at least 30-40 mins away! This is the best automotive location by far! And a personal shout out to Dr. Smiles, who helped so effortlessly. I'd give them 10 stars if I could!
I have a 2015 VW Jetta TDI w/ 6 speed manual transmission. I made the mistake of attempting to replace the driver side CV axel and wheel bearing assembly myself and ran into nothing but issues. The final straw was when I stripped out a bolt attaching the wheel bearing assembly to the steering knuckle and damaged the knuckle while attempting to drill the bolt out. So, here’s my car on jacks in the garage taking up my wife’s parking spot and I was hoping to have everything done before she got home from work. Lucky for me Brown’s is only a half mile down the road and I was able to get assistance from the owner, Kevin, who came over to my house to assess what was going on and see if it would be an easy fix. Unfortunately, I did too much damage and they had to get it to the shop. Kevin and his assistant was able to safely tow my car out of the garage without a scratch to anything! That’s when I was confident I was working with real Pros! They got my car out of the garage just minutes before my wife got home! So, it took a couple of weeks to get my car back due to sourcing the parts needed, but they provided me with a loaner car and when I got my car back, it was perfect!!! This was my first experience using them, I will be using them to repair my 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins and 6 speed manual transmission!
We get our inspections and some work done here and it's always been great to work with the team here. The only downside sometimes is they are so busy or only have one state inspector so you may have to wait a while. Every experience we have had with them has been pleasant and no issues with our vehicles and the work they have done. We appreciate having Browns so close!
I recently moved to the area and was in need of a reliable, trustworthy mechanic. I was referred to Brown's by my previous mechanic and was very pleased with the service I received. I was especially impressed that I was given a loaner car while my car was being worked on. The office staff and owner, Kevin were extremely knowledgable, professional and efficient in servicing my car. Their expertise and customer service has gained another loyal customer. What an awesome family business. I scheduled my appointment and not only did they drive me home while my car was being serviced, they also drove me to work the next day as my car was still in the shop. The shop is clean. The staff is friendly. It was a warm and inviting environment. Granted I had to get a lot of work done to my 2016 RAV4, but it now drives very well and I am very thankful. I am fairly new to the area and my daughter has already taken her car to Brown’s and was pleased with the service as well. Thank you

I received Outstanding Customer Service and repair services at Browns Automotive. Their administrative staff made sure I had a courtesy ride home while my vehicle was being serviced. I initially had my vehicle serviced for my state inspection, but after a thorough inspection of my vehicle I needed additional services done. The technicians sent me message regarding other services needed and my vehicle was repaired quickly. Browns also provided me with an additional warranty protection plan for 24 months, nationwide warranty. I highly recommend Browns Automotive for your vehicle repairs and services. Outstanding job!!
Drop off was quick and easy. I got a call with the cost estimate for me to approve. Shortly thereafter I got a call that the repair was done. Payment and pick up was a breeze. I recommend Browns wholeheartedly.

I'm from out of town, and had made an appointment for a relative's car who lives out there. The Brown Automotive Team were professional and genuinely nice people! I had a very Pleasant experience! They even went above and beyond and checked out a message light that was on my car that wasn't there for service. I give them 5 stars!!

What started as a stressful morning ended as a night of relief! I came in thinking I was going to get a Continental tire patched but ended up getting educated on why it wouldn't be safe to patch my tire. When my other tires were assessed, they found that I needed two more tires. The owner noticed that I was overwhelmed and assured me that I was in good hands. I was given a shuttle home and told to come back in the evening for pick up. This team went above and beyond to take care of not just my vehicle, they were considerate of the urgency to service my vehicle and they were empathetic towards my unexpected expense. Nevertheless, it was an expense that I don't regret. The experience was worth it!
