(UPDATE) 01/11/2026. - So I decided to give this store another chance it is now 3 years later and the store is still the same. I was reading on the Caroline County website that there are two new auto parts stores coming to the area. Keep up the bad customer service soon there will be other options. (DO BETTER) Reading all the bad reviews and I noticed they all have the same rubber stamp response and to be truly honest nothing is done about the complaints. So it's not worth my time explaining what happened. I will just proceed to contact the store manager direct and if no action I will make a trip to Roanoke to hand deliver my complaint. I've done it before and I'll do it again. All I can say is helping the customer is more important than being on your phone. This has happened twice to me and the young guys behind the counter need the proper customer service training and being on your phone and ignoring the customer is not how you do business. Fix your hiring practice too! So many people are looking for jobs I think you can find someone that cares about working and dealing with customers. Trust me you do have good helpful employees in your store I just have the luck of getting the worst of the bunch!!! Remove the bad apples.

2 times in a row I order something online and get to the store for them to tell me they don't have it. Not only that, but they were common parts for a Chevy 5.3 which is one of the most popular, if not the most popular, engine on the road. What an absolute joke.

This place needs a new manager. Always single staffed while 2-3 people walking around back and not helping. Placed online order and parts not ready after 30 mins and no parts available when I get here. Wasted my gas and time 30 mins each way.

My battery installation didn’t go as planned. But the staff were nice. And after a few phone calls they were able to take care of the issues with my car. I will 100% use them again. I shouldn’t have left a 2 star review before I communicated with them. So I thought I would come on here and fix it. Thank you Advanced Auto Parts!

Only leaving a star because I had to. These kids are the most disrespectful and ignorant. Long time customer. But never again. These fools sent the wrong part. Mistakes happen. Then my wife takes it back and is questioned as to how she knows what it fits besides what we needed. So they order a replacement. SAME EXACT part we returned as wrong. But who eats it. We do. Had a breakdown while coming home from NC, dead battery. Had car towed to the Ruther Glen, VA store where they replaced it. Came to find out they sold me the wrong battery for a car with the stop/start feature. Had to go to local store and have it swapped for the correct battery. And, when the local store went to disconnect the cables one of them was not even tight and just slipped off. Stay away from this store, go someplace else!

Worst service, aren't they supposed to help with small things like switching headlights or installing batteries? Well this dude told me they didn't, last i remember they helped install my battery and my wife's headlights, but whatever I ain't going back there.

I’ve lived here for four years and been to this store several times for different things. The last time was just to drop off a UPS package. Only once was it a positive experience and that was when I needed a battery and a young lady helped me and installed it for me. All the other times I’ve had to just stand there and be ignored for a half hour. Ladies, if you need something from this store do yourself a favor and find a man to go for you. They don’t like helping females here.

The service I received was immaculate! Service technician was polite and assisted me right away. Issue was my battery. Technician tested my battery, informed me the current one was bad. Prior to testing the battery, technician did their due diligence by looking at the warranty. Bad battery was swapped out for new battery. Car is working with no issues to report.

You can't leave zero Stars, I would like to. It's a little before 4:30 Saturday the 24th. I walk into the store up to the guy who is on his phone behind the covid plexiglass and I said "what's up"?! He didn't reply and didn't look up from his phone for about two seconds, then he put his phone away and then looked at me and never said a word. Sorry dude I didn't mean to bother you while you were at work. Out of disgust, I turned around and walked out. There are plenty of other auto parts stores in the area I guess I will try my luck at those. This country and a very large percentage of who inhabit it, lack integrity.

Had trouble finding a lamp for my Harley. Angela was on the case and Cross referenced it. There was one left on the rack. She was very helpful and a pleasure to work with!

I highly recommend Johnathan from AutoZone. He took our call with 5 minutes till close and was able to help us get a new windshield wiper instilled on the spot. We were passing through Richmond area when the wiper flew off during a rain storm. With 5 minutes till store close, Jonathon answered our call and stayed open so we could get the issue fixed for the rest of our 2 hour ride home. Thanks Johnathan, you saved the day!

Was in to turn in an alternator core for my husband. This is the location we like to use because the associates are always helpful and courteous. If we need something that's not in stock, they get it ordered for us and call when it's in. The location is easily accessible and parking is okay.

Had to get a new battery. James, Manager at Ruther Glen, VA Advanced Auto always helpful. He took out my old one replaced with new battery, had me in and out super fast, car starts up like a champ! Thank you..

The people there are always super nice. Easy to work with. Prices are a little too steep on some things and they cant always get the phone very quickly but I'm not sure any of that is 100% controllable for the people that work there.

Kind woman at the counter did not make me feel like she hated me for coming in there super late! 😁 She was very kind to me, even the second time I had to come in. because I had no idea how low my oil was.. (*rookie mistake") and even though I talk allot..haha..thanks for being kind 🙂

I went in to get a battery for my car. The young man behind the counter seemed a bit put out about having to test my battery. I went inside to purchase the battery and he said does this look like the one in your car. I said yes and he rang me up. He then pushed the battery toward me so I asked him if he was going to install the battery in my car and he said no it would be to difficult. I went to Auto Zone and the installed the battery in 20 minutes. I wonder why he couldn't have told me He wouldn't install it before I bought it? I had to do a return it and go else where. Awful customer service.

I've been putting off this review for sometime, and I'm not sure why. Since they have opened I have been in the store fairly frequently and have been disappointed every single time. Today was the last time. I am tired of their disrespectful, lazy, hiding, unprofessional, lack of automotive knowledge staff. I came in today for a simple seal, had two numbers to cross and CSR did not want to even try and got snappy with me when he couldn't figure it out and wanted to argue. I pulled up their website and found it in 10 sec. Advance was a great company for a long time but they have gone significantly down hill, but this location has never been worth a flip. Ladysmith Auto across the street beats them in customer service, pricing, and availability and they will get all of my business moving forward.

The guys are always super helpful and patience while I asked a 'million questions about a part, or how to do the work or just curious about somethings performance. Its always the first place I head for auto parts, cleaners and those last minute tools you didn't know you would need until just before closing.

I’ve called up to the store twice now. Yesterday I was immediately put on hold and they never came back to my call. Called back today and was immediately put on hold again and then hung up on 2 seconds later! Called back a third time and finally someone took my call, I told him what happened and his response was “ Hmm, what do you need?” Really? Could the employees here have been any more rude? I will never give this store my business!

I'm sorry but about a year ago I went there and the were the laziest, least friends and non customer friendly people I have see at a auto parts store. I went in looking for a small bulb and couldn't find it. When I went to the count to ask where it was located the young lady was on her personal phone texting or something. She never looked up and said I don't know then asked the other guy who pointed and said over there. When I said I had looked where he pointed answer didn't see it he said we don't have it then. I was the only person in the store at the time and neither person even wanted to assist me. I notice they keep changing employees so maybe it's gotten better. I hope. Now if I go in if I don't find what I'm looking for I just leave and go somewhere else if I see that same you lady in there.

The store let me use a wrench to tighten connector down on my battery but they were Not very helpful. Brought out a almost dead jump box after 15min then it wouldn't even charge my battery enough for a jump. Cashier acted like he didn't want to help me at all!! Everything I asked he huffed & puffed. Then tried to charge me $103 for a battery 🤣SIKE! I won't Ever be going to this business again & I've been there plenty of times!! Ladysmith Advance Auto customer service Stinks!!

Some days you go in and the retail counter is staffed by a seasoned and experienced guy (you can tell he's been doing it for a long time); efficient and knowledgeable. Other days you go in and theres a young lade(very polite) or young man who have NO CLUE what is going on.... I suggest that AZ do a little better job of training their retail and commercial associates, its' really "hit or miss"

My daughter went to get a battery for her 1977 Dodge Aspen thinking it was bad, Steve tested it said it was good and that she didn't need a new one. Plus he gave her suggestions on what it could be and even gave her a couple names of someone she could have a look at it. It was an awesome experience.

Very unsatisfied. Slow, rude and NOT cool at all. Just went in for a battery and the manager, or whoever he was, was rude and crappy. The girl there was trying...I felt sorry for her because her co-worker was such a jerk. I didn't even talk to him, just watched how he treated other customers. Don;t know if he was in a bad mood or what but he was totally unprofessional. After that and seeing the high prices - I walked out! Go somewhere else is my recommendation.

Went in for a spark plug for mower. Knowledgeable employees are few and far between. The slack jawed woman who assisted me was extremely incompetent. Don't waste your time.... go to Ladysmith Auto Parts instead.
