They really should sell some of the E-waste they get. They have some tech collectors items bound to be recycled. And that's a shame.

Great treasures to find here! We got a laptop and added a hard drive and a couple of other things and it was like new!

Nice place to buy used computers. But be warned, they remove the drive. You need the skills to install a drive and load an OS.

Utterly Fantastic! Staff were very friendly and helpful! Finding what we were looking for (a laptop for my wife) was very easy. 10/10 would recommend!

Honestly just wish you guys were open normal shop hours so students and staff actually have a chance to look at what's available. The fact that you close right when work hours end is kinda crappy when you're selling things from the university itself. Students and Staff never have a chance to try and find something. When you're a struggling student or a low income worker (90% of UofU people are one or both) it's upsetting to know you don't have an opportunity to find something that could be of benefit when you're actively going to the university these items are being taken from.

They have a good collection of essential stuffs. I bought something that worked nice. But don't know about some important electronic products as I haven’t bought anything like that before.

This place was definitely a great find. I ended up getting a 2017 MacBook Pro for only $200. The website was super straightforward and simple to understand. The only issue I found was that the website listings and the actual inventory were occasionally inaccurate. The customer service was alright but I wasn’t expecting much from them anyway. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for secondhand items or technology.

Best kept secret in salt lake valley. Used university equipment at thrift store prices. Great white elephant ideas for Christmas.

Love this place! They sell surplus stuff from the university like laptops (~$100), PCs (~$100), printers (~$30), lab equipment, furniture, etc. Note that there's a date on all the price tags that tell you when the public can purchase them (this gives other university and state organizations a chance to repurpose them). They also auction larger things like vehicles and high-value items on GovDeals.

Always an odd experience but boy can you score some amazing deals. Just remember the public sell date when you find the steal of the year. Will be green sticker. Got this great little file for $5

This place is amazing. So first thing, learn the system! Due to it being a school surplus they can't sell things until they've been shelved for a certain amount of time. The date is on the green sticker. Don't try to negotiate to buy early, it's not gonna work and it's just annoying for the staff. The stuff for sale are usually in really good condition and really really can't beat the prices. The staff are also super friendly and helpful. Ask good questions and realize they aren't tech support for your computer like best buy, know what you want and basic computer information before coming and you'll be thrilled with what you can find.

Won the auction for one of their surplus shuttle busses. The description online matched the vehicle in person for the most part. Paying for it and picking it up were easy and painless. So happy I bid on this one and not a different one.

Nice surplus store on campus with very fair prices. They definitely have unique items youc can't find anywhere else. They have 3 levels- the first one is more unique electronics or university tools or items in a lab. The second story is more furniture with some electronics and the top floor is pretty miscellaneous. They do have sales at times. I enjoy going here and have found some items to resell to make extra cash or use at home.

Have a great selection of used computers, monitors, keyboards, and cables from the university plus tables, chairs, really anything that's from the U. Monitors and the used computers are priced great and most have minimal cosmetic defects. No hard drives included because some of the computers are used at the medical centers, and could potentially leak sensitive data. Also be aware that some items are sold to the public only after a certain date. First priority goes to faculty on sales before the posted date on the lables. The only place I go to buy a monitor if I don't need a fancy one for my computer projects. 5 stars.

Great place to go if you need cheap computer supplies for a project, or just need a cheap computer. Got a tower, monitor, and Cables all for about $43. The computers are in great shape, have a decent processor, but dont come with hard drives. Plenty of assorted cabinets, fax machines, and other stuff too.

When I lived in the dorms it was great to keep track of some good deals. Items are first offered to on campus employees before the public. Highlights are cheap computers/monitors; they used to have an interesting array of chemistry beakers/flasks.

Great budget computers! You will need to buy a hard drive and possibly a graphics card to get it working, but it is totally worth it! (Ask the counter to "see the box" and they will bring you a box full of computer parts. Each is $5 unless otherwise marked)

This is a really cool place to find some randomly great deals on randomly great things! I went there with a friend and she has been in the market for a massage table to use for microblading and we found one there for $50 which would normally cost at least $400 used, and like $800 new. The place has a fun, unique vibe, kind of like a mad scientist's laboratory with all the random and interesting things there. Here's an example: I saw some brand new Dell wired keyboards there when I went with my friend a couple weeks ago, and lo and behold the space bar on my wired keyboard for my desktop stopped working a few days ago and so I went back to look at the Dell keyboards for sale and walked away with a nice, brand new one for $5 plus tax. Forgive the run-on sentence but that deal cannot be beat! The one thing that confused me when going the first time is that all of the items in the place MUST be there for at least two weeks before the public can buy them, and so on each item there is a sticker that has a date on it, and unless it is the date on the sticker or later, you can't buy it and just have to wait until that date. Pretty cool place, I recommend checking it out at least once :)

As a first time visitor, it was difficult to figure out their system of when you can and when you cannot purchase things. Employees talked down to us for misunderstanding. Quality and variety of items wasn't great, but they did have treadmills on clearance.

Not a very big selection for the size school that they are. None of the computers are student friendly, none of the laptops have hard drives. If you know your way around computers then there you go. I expected lower prices for being in a surplus store but I can find better deals on KSL. They also have random stuff but not very much of it, I spent 5 min and was done looking. If you know what you want and you don't care if it is a little broken and in need of a few parts then this place might give you a good deal.

I love going there and finding unique items. I found some awesome treasures there including old audio tubes and physics equipment and computers vintage speakers . You never know what you will find there. I've also seen vintage military equipment there. Everything is dated there and the university departments get first shot at it. The general public has to wait for the general public sale date before they can purchase the items. They also have online auctions and automobiles and trucks too.

My go-to place to get used computer equipment. I have gotten some nice monitors, PCs (they come without a hard drive), and laptops and many computer cables (don't expect to ever find an HDMI cable though). You can find a lot of different things in this place and usually in good condition for a fair price.

Best Price For What You Get, Most Systems Come With i5 - 3470 or i5 - 2000 quad cores, You can expect 4GB of ram per system (Some have 8 if your lucky enough to get there before others). Should note that alot of the computers are very dusty!

Great place to get cheap electronics, but be sure to test them before you buy them. They will let you bring your own power cables if you want to try and turn a laptop or computer on. Rule of thumb, if it doesn't boot to BIOS (because they don't have drives in them), it probably has something wrong with it, which is why it's in surplus. But if you can find a computer that works, this place is a steal. I built a strong desktop from secondhand parts from here for less than $300.

I love the things I can find there, always something new. if you have a spare 2.5 inch hard drive , you can pick up computers for a 5th of the price that you'd pick them up at a store such as best buy, staples, etc. same goes with pretty high quality furniture
