I don't own a huge business, I'm just a guy who did contracting on the side and I have been squirreling away scrap metal for years. I wasn't looking to make money, it just makes me sick when I see useful metals in the trash, headed for the landfill. In fact that kinda pisses me off. So I set it aside instead of throwing it away. I never had an end game. On a whim, I stopped by Metro on 9th South. YUP, They pay. C.J. and Preston at the buy dock were super helpful. Especially to a scrap newbie like me. They are obviously not afraid of hard work and I find that quite rare among young people these days. Charity in the office also did a great job. I was impressed. The process is easy for small fish like me. Pull up, unload, get paid. It was awesome. See you tomorrow gang! I got more, I just never knew what to do with this stuff.

2 hours loading, make sure you check the dock before you back up because I found 2 nails on my tires because there’s a lot of trash on your way to back up.
Update of your answer: i didn’t fail anything, I showed up at 12pm with my own trailer, I’m over the road not at local driver, didn’t dropped any trailer, I scaled in, the guy on the scale told me to back up on door 3 if I’m not mistaken, waited 2 hours to get loaded, then someone told me to scaled out and park my truck between in front of the scales to get my paperwork

I have been dealing with Metro for almost 20 years, in 2 different jobs. I find these guys to be the most honest and reliable in customer service, In an Industry not known for these traits. No haggling or hassling on prices, cost, deliveries, etc. Just the best price for your scrap and prompt and friendly service.
Let's be real, we are dealing with junk scrap, we do not need the headaches associated with trying to be efficient. If you have a need for recycling services, look no further, it is not worth it. Call Metro.
I just delivered a flatbed load of some totes and bales of aluminum/copper. There was no wait to check in when I arrived at 8:09AM. Very friendly weigh master and forklift operators. The yard had minimal if any tire damage hazards. Quick unload and they were respectful of my equipment. In and out in just over an hour. THANKS AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
I just left Metros Wasatch steel location and this is the third time I've been screwed by Wasatch. The first time my license had expired so they wouldn't pay me after I had already gave them all my scrap. Another time they paid us for aluminum price instead of the price of lead, and this time they paid me aluminum for for keys which the do not make keys in aluminum they're made out of brass which is a big difference in price, and the last two were both by the same person. Metro owns quite a few locations on the Wasatch front and I've never had one problem with any of the other places. But avoid Wasatch they're a total rip-off.
This is a rebuttle to the answer left for my review. #1 drivers license issue I was never taken care of as person claims. #2 I've been back to Wasatch location since my last review, and never received nothing, the money isn't the issue I recycle because I promised daughter I would, and its the right thing to do. It's the dishonesty, that's the issue. I guess it must start at the top.
Metro of Ogden is my go to scrap yard. Mike is very friendly and knowledgeable and the gal that works the register is as well. Try them out the next time you need to get rid of some scrap..
I've been here twice and both times were great visits. I was unloaded within an hour and a half. The second visit I was unloaded a day early ( wouldn't advise showing up that early). I was blessed that particular day). Bryan/Brian at the gate was super cool and the office staff was courteous and professional. Tight area, but helps you tighten up your backing skills.
DO NOT COME HERE if you value your tires! Metal everywhere! Restroom is located inside the office. The man at the scales was very friendly and helpful.

This location is great. Always very helpful unloading my trailer when I get there. They help to ensure I can get on and off the scale with ease. the front office is very professional and helpful as well. They are busy but the wait is minimal.
When you pull off the scale it looks like there’s enough room to pull into the area where you’re going to back up to the dock… for a standard tractor trailer. But when you do that you quickly realize that isn’t the case at all. Shards of aluminum and other pieces of metal are all over the place as you back in. You’ll scratch your truck up if you’re not careful. There’s simply not enough room with the bales of metal in the way to back in from the traditional vantage point. You must blind side in from where the scale is, especially when other trucks are already occupying docks.
I went to Metro Metal to recycle some stainless steel cookware. I waited outside to have it weighed. There were two employees there, helping other customers. No one greeted me or said squat. After about ten minutes one of them said "Sorry about that," but I was otherwise ignored for another ten minutes or so. Finally the other employee took my stuff, without speaking or looking at me, weighed it, and gave me a slip. Never acknowledged me. No social skills or customer skills at all. But I got $1.22 for my stainless steel.
Great people, friendly and safe, but I always worry about ruining my tires in your yard. Can you get the driveways a little more clear of sharps? Everything east of the scale is a hazard. One of your own trucks has a flat tire from it.
Been doing business with these guys for several years now. Prices are always up to date. Their service to my location is always just a call away, and their yard is the cleanest most impressive i have ever seen. These guys are class act.
WOW, This place is the cleanest scrap yard we have ever seen. Well organized, quick in and out, the employees are more then helpful and happy to be at work. The prices have gone down over the past little while and that doesn't help things for our pocket book but that is how this game works. We really appreciate more importantly, the safe place that you all have made, for us to come to when we have scrap items to get rid of. Definitely will be making return trips and recommending your place to others.
