Terrible experience with this towing company. They towed my vehicle claiming it was parked in a non-permitted area, but the signage is unclear and confusing. It feels more like they are trying to take advantage of people than actually enforce the rules.
On top of the already high towing fee, they also charge an extra fee for paying with a card, which is completely unfair. Being in a stressful situation and then getting hit with additional charges just makes it worse.
The place is dark, and the customer service is awful. You can’t even see the person’s face when you’re speaking to them. The whole experience felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. I would definitely recommend being very careful in that area and avoiding this company if possible.Feb 15, 2026 -
My vehicle was towed from my apartment complex on the same day I moved in. During the tow, my car was clearly damaged — including the undercarriage and bumper. After picking it up, the car started making multiple abnormal noises, which were not present before.
On top of that, I was charged $325 for only 1–2 hours of holding time, which is outrageously overpriced for the condition the vehicle was returned in.
This company shows zero care for customer property and lacks basic professionalism. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this towing company.Feb 10, 2026 -
heard these guys suck and i agree. TDLR needs to pay you guys a visit. Sounds like y’all ain’t complying.

Tried to tow someone’s vehicle not even 5 seconds after they were unloading their stuff. Extremely predatory.

Illegal practices, tows car without following procedure. I see law suits in their future.

I'm an Uber driver. I parked and ran to deliver an order; I was probably gone for two minutes. When I came back, my car was gone. It's unbelievable that these guys are lurking like predators on every corner of The Domain, waiting for someone to leave their car so they can steal it. Now I have to go get it from a place far away, and I have no one to help me.

My friends car got towed while we were watching smackdown. You can say J&J towing was the main event tonight and my friend lost the car belt.

J&j towing illegally towed my vehicle out of my apartment parking lot because the parking permit fell down. They do not even have a current contract with fairway properties the owners of the apartments. They also damaged my rear bumper. I will be seeking legal council.
These companies are predatory and the worst type of companies. Especially in the current state of the country.
A curse on them. ↩Nov 13, 2025 -
Predatory towing — avoid at all costs.
My car was towed from a grassy area along a fence line near a music venue — no visible “No Parking” or tow-away signs anywhere nearby. The lot is huge, and when I asked the towing company about signage, the dispatcher said they “don’t handle signs” and that there was only one somewhere on the property. Multiple cars were towed that night — it felt like an obvious money grab.
Even if they had authorization, Texas law requires clear signage at every entrance, which was not posted. I’ve filed complaints with the City of Austin and TDLR for investigation.
This company preys on people parking in unmarked areas. Extremely dishonest and predatory behavior.Oct 18, 2025 -
horrible place they take your car even though you have a permit and they will charge you wether you have one or not, i had to pay almost $400 dollars to get it back, they are scammers

Called multiple different times to have a vehicle towed out of a paid parking spot that belonged to me and not once did they show up. Not to mention, on multiple occasions the receptionist did not pick up the phone.

**Beware of This Towing Scam in Austin!**
Last night, we parked in a grassy area near the Concourse. There was **no visible signage** indicating that towing was enforced—only a basic speed limit sign nearby. When we returned from the show, we discovered our car had been towed, along with 5 to 8 other vehicles. Fortunately, one of the drivers had an AirTag in their car, which helped us track down the location—otherwise, we would’ve had no idea where to start, especially since I’m not familiar with Austin. We arrived at the towing facility, which turned out to be a dark, run-down building that looked more abandoned than operational. There was no clear signage or view of the cashier (literally no face shown when communicating, just lower body) when we arrived there, making the entire experience feel incredibly sketchy. We tried to dispute the tow fee right then and there, only to be told it was “private property” and the contract owner didn’t want any cars parked there on his “property” near Concourse. If that were truly the case, there should have been clear posted signs warning people of towing—especially since the cashier admitted that cars have been getting towed from that spot for weeks. This seems like a predatory operation. We just want our money back!! Nonetheless, please be very very cautious if you're in the area and avoid parking anywhere that doesn’t have clearly marked signs—even if it appears to be open or accessible.Aug 16, 2025 -
This was my first time visiting Austin, and unfortunately, I accidentally parked in an area I wasn’t supposed to. I understand the mistake and take full responsibility for it being towed. However, my experience with this towing company was awful. When I approached a tow truck driver to ask who I should contact, he was extremely rude and unprofessional, offering no help at all.
The location where my car was taken felt shady and unsafe. I ended up paying around $250 to get my car back—which was frustrating but expected. What really upset me was discovering that my bumper was damaged during the towing process.
This whole situation could’ve been handled more respectfully and professionally. I hope the company improves its customer service and takes more care with the vehicles they tow.Aug 03, 2025 -
This place is very shady and the moment I arrived to the site to get back my illegally towed car by an Uber, I felt scared and unsafe to get out of her car. This place is in the middle of nowhere and it looks like a jail. I just had a really bad feeling the whole time. When you are at the window, you can't see the person's face (which was a red flag and I felt uncomfortable because knowing whom you're talking with by seeing them is normal, J&J's is not normal) and there are bars and then glass separating you from whoever you're speaking with at this criminal place. There are even warning signs on the building about knives and firearms--something I have never seen when I had to have my car towed when the battery died and the two times I have had a flat. Those signs made me uncomfortable because no other towing company I had to do business with has had that on their building. In fact look up other towing companies in Austin and the review are 4.6 and up, I did this and that told me everything I needed to know along with the reviews on here. The reason it's like this is because they have probably been threatened for their unethical business practices. When I got into my car, my gas gauge was at 390 but before it was towed this morning (24 July 2025), it was at 320. After I questioned lady on the phone about this and she gave me a scammer explanation. Even if what she said was true, because of the reviews and the predatory nature I don't buy it. I don't feel comfortable with getting in my car right now because I just have this awful feeling they did something especially with the gas difference. Even though there was more gas, I just don't feel right. This place is evil and you can feel it when you arrive.
I was parked very early this morning when there was literally no one out. I walk back outside and my car is gone. If there is no one out, why be predatory and take someone's car. I filed a police report today because this place needs to be investigated and shut down. If I could give zero stars I would. Hopefully no one gets their car towed and pays attention, but if you happen to be a victim of these people leave a one star review so they can be put out of business.Jul 24, 2025 -
Corrupt company, ridiculous people. I had my car towed from a visitors spot after running in the store for 10 MINUTES. Had to take an uber to a VERY DANGEROUS place which was their “office” I was then obligated to pay them almost $300 after having my car illegally towed. Absolutely insane and frustrating

Predatory towing company, will tow your car within 20 minutes even if you park in a visitor's parking spot. Signage is unclear and they refuse to give refunds. How this illegal "business" is still in operation is beyond me. Avoid parking anywhere that is managed by J&J towing. Would give 0 stars if possible

Towed my car in a visitor parking spot that wasn't needed to be registered to park (park there every week) won't show how my car was towed and my car, car had e-brake engaged when towed, and has had issued since I went to pick it up and failed to provide insurance information when asked for. Now are ignoring my phone calls and hasn't responded to my email requesting pictures and insurance info

Car towed from an area my apartment complex allows me to load and unload within 5 minutes. The truck driver didn’t even fully connect my car and drove into the nearest parking garage with it half connected. Really hoping there’s no damage involved. There are no signs on the street that say no parking, and i have photos and videos to prove it. Absolutely unethical.

Super unethical business. Their signage was unclear about whose lot it was in an area with multiple businesses, and we found our car towed after being gone 30 min. $250 fee when we were 30 min behind our car and it had spent no time in their lot.

Towed my car WITH A PARKING STICKER ! For no reason paid almost 300 $ to get it out . I’ve been at my apartments for 6 years never had an issue! Up to date with my parking sticker & everything else ! Apartments did nothing about it said I had to talk to then called them they said I have to talk to my apartment it was just a back and forth thing 0 stars for me !

Don’t usually write reviews but this company is the worst towing company I’ve dealt with and I’ve had one almost chop my arm off. They stole my car from my own apartment complex, claimed the permit was expired, and charged $230 to get it back. They prey around the west campus area holding cars for ransom and robbing college kids of their money.

I had only a beat-up truck; they took it. I reached out to Justin, no response. I decided to end my life tonight. Im tired of losing what little I have. It's amazing what the last straw is for people who take their lives. Think about that, if you see someone hurting or if you decide to take the only thing they had left. Tonight, after i write this I will join the 50 thousand others who also signed out this year. This review is the only obituary i want.

A J&J tow truck operator stepped out of his vehicle, approached my own, and cornered and threatened me while I was still in my own vehicle. I have since filed a police report with APD. This is AFTER, they reversed up to tow my vehicle WHILE I was inside, with a valid visitor parking permit, and without ever checking my permit. Additionally, after filing a complaint with J&J, I was informed that the operator should not have had a passenger in his vehicle, which he did. There needs to be heavy scrutiny over J&J and their operators, as I have significant concerns about the due diligence of their operations within their own code of conduct and local regulatory standards.

Would leave 0 if I could. Was at a friend's appointment to take their dog out for the night. By the time I got back from taking a dog for a walk, my car was gone. Had to wait till next morning to call as the complex's signs have the tow comp and number mostly removed from the signs. Luckily the complex's manager was able to get me info.
Charged me almost $300 when I got there to get my car back. The building and lot looks like a raider camp from Fallout. The tint hole you pass you money in and talk to them through had smoke coming from it. Whole place smells like weed
The tow trucks also had no tags or registration stickers on them at all. Not sure how any of this operation is legal.Nov 06, 2024 -
These people were very pleasant & easy to deal with. In fact, after I paid & got my car from the lot, I pulled in to wash the front windshield & check the oil. The owner's son approached and helped me with these and went back inside their office several times to get water for my winshields. My car was towed here, & it was quite a distance from where I had been parked. If I have one complaint, I think some kind of notice should be left on the wall or poles close to where I was parked so I could know what had happened with my car. It took me 24 hours to discover it had been towed & not stolen.

My car got towed from my own apartment complex, and then cost me $230 to get out the very next day. Absolutely outrageous price and they marked my car with this paint/marker that I have no clue how to wash off. Wild.

Never a good experience when your vehicle has been towed. I have never had to pick up a towed vehicle. But I was comfortable with the surroundings. The speaker was broken, so we had to talk through a slot. I had a hard time hearing the last on the other side. The person in the office wasn't very friendly but did her job I guess. They had my car for less than 15 hours. But billed me for 2 days storage.

They're vultures that go hunting as soon as they hear about a parking permit switch. They towed my car without warning from a place I've lived and parked for three years once they found out that we were issued new permits, and I still had the old permit on my car. Many other residents at my property have had issues with their shady practices as well.
If you're looking for parking enforcement for your property, I promise you that J&J Towing will ensure that you get plenty of towing complaints from your residents. And they will have good arguments for reimbursement of J&J's fee which is close to pushing the legal maximum for Texas.Sep 02, 2023 -
This company is pure EVIL they towed my truck for no reason! I was parked in VISITORS parking spaces for about 5 minutes visiting my family.

I feel bad reviewing a towing company. I can't give them 5 because it cost a lot of scrilla to get my car back. I gave 3/5 because of the way it heightened my senses to be in a crisis. Their lot is a post-apocalyptic, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome-type deadzone, with ancient rubbish heaps overgrown with poisonous vines, accented by rust and dilapidation. But! It seems like their infrastructure, designed to allow interaction with a customer (read: victim) without exposing the J&J people to retaliation, was perfect for the Pandemic. The intercom and purposefully obstructed viewing window were Big Brother-esque and my imagination was reeling.
