Called in for a tow and was given an estimate of 75-90 minutes. 2 hours later I hadn't heard back so I called for an update. My call was sent to voicemail twice before somebody finally picked up. I was told that the tow was still 30 minutes out, and then I was abruptly hung up on before I could even reply. 20 minutes later I got a notification that my tow had been cancelled, so I called them back to see what the situation was. After all, they should theoretically be just 10 minutes away at this point. They told me, quite impolitely, that I should go elsewhere. I was kind and patient the whole time, although reasonably frustrated with situation and the the poor communication and inaccurate estimates. They were consistently unprofessional and rude to me. I did indeed being my business elsewhere. They showed up in 10 minutes with a smile. I recommend avoiding this company if you can.

Would NOT recommend this company. Order was sent through my insurance, R&D was suppose to do the tow, they kept giving my insurance company the run around, extending pick up time 60-90 minutes twice. Do NOT use their service.

Full brake job for my 2012 Ram. Great prices, friendly service. Overall, it was a great experience.

They were awesome only took 5 mins for my tow and if I could add plusses to the stars they would get 5 more from me

My insurance company called them for a tiw and they agreed, here I am 3 1/2 hours later waiting.. I call there office and it was closed. NO SHOW, NO CALL, NOW I HAVE 2 WAIT ANOTHER 2 -2 1/2 HOURS FOR SOMEONE ELSE! A

Rarely give reviews that are not positive but this one deserves it. First, the person called me and hung up on me when I told him I had followed my insurance company's directions. I called back and he did not answer. I waited almost three hours for an insurance tow with this company. Once they didn't meet the two hour deadline, they did not answer my call or, according to my insurance company, their calls either. I would have loved to give them a chance but they (R and D) canceled the ticket after 3 hours.

My car wouldn’t start in Rock Hill and they very quickly retrieved my car and brought it to my designated location in Lancaster after hours. They were quick, communicative, honest, and polite. The first tow place my insurance connected me with tried to take advantage and when I pushed back, never showed for hours. I was then extra grateful for R&D’s quick and honest service and they even provided text updates so I knew they were actually completing the service. Much appreciated!

Quick response and did not try to charge my daughter extra fees like the first service to respond to our insurance claim. Highly recommend.

I’ve been going there for minor repairs & oil changes. Yesterday I brought my own oil & filter and had them do the change and tire rotation. They changed my $85 which I thought was excessive considering I had my own oil & filter

I have used R & D (Linwood Robinson) and his services for years now. His whole family is amazing and has always given us good advice on what to do with our vehicles. He has never "over-serviced" our vehicles. I was raised in a home with a father who owned a Chrysler dealership in Minnesota. He was known for his honesty and integrity and Linwood reminds me of father in that respect. On May 13th 2023, a driver forced my wife off the road into a pole in Fort Mill, SC totaling her car. Linwood dropped everything and arrived at the accident scene moments after I did. He hooked up the car, pulled it onto the trailer and off he went. So quick and easy. I am not trying to create an ad for this business, I'm just letting you all know that my experience has been wonderful during a time which can be quite stressful. Terrible experience, took him 3 weeks to still not figure out the problem, told me the head gasket was blown just to not have to do anything to the car, ran worse when I picked it up then when I took it there, took the car to a real shop and it was a heater coil and water pump impeller. Don’t waste your time. AWFUL SERVICE

Used this business for a tow of a car to dealership. Called them because we needed a receipt of tow for refund. We were not given one at time of pickup. This conversation started with me being polite and asking. He told me he didn’t have to provide a receipt he was third party and I didn’t run his business he did - right at the beginning he started being extremely rude. I explained we should have received a hard copy when the driver picked up the vehicle and he said he wasn’t dealing with me and hung up. Very unprofessional and sorry attitude

Horrible business. Went in with one problem. They "diagnose" and run up a $1200 bill. I pay them. Less than a week later, my car is still having the same issue. Try to bring it back and they completely ghost me. Never answers calls/texts and never call back. Please go elsewhere if you don't want to lose over a grand.

They’re the mechanic you want for life!! Have used them 18+ yrs. Kept our Saab running close to 300k, and our Ford van to 275k. Honest and trustworthy. So many simple fixes done that saved me so much $$.

A special thank you to the gentleman that just finished towing my black Camry to Monroe today. My first time towing so I was worried. But he worked quickly and carefully and it’s much appreciated. These guys are complete ***holes. Was visiting a friend’s house nearby their shop and parked across the street from their location momentarily while waiting for my friend. The “owner” and another individual crossed the street to approach me and said even though I wasn’t on their property that I needed to leave and tried to threaten me. He was red faced and visibly angry for absolutely no reason, so I calmly explained I wasn’t on or near their property, and then he got closer and said I was being combative and demanded I “leave now”. Pretty pathetic for a grown man, and definitely explains all of the bad experiences others have had with them. Zero character and a total lack of professionalism.

Can’t tell you how doubtful I’ve been at mechanics I’ve been to before, that is until I found this one! Family owned, fair, and honest people. We’ve used them multiple times and every time I’m so surprised and the prices they charge, the incredible quality of work, the speed at which they get the work done, and the communication of what the are doing and what our car needs. Thank you guys!

The vehicle was brought in with brakes turning red . This clown determines it is the radiator . Changes and Releases the car and the brakes turn red again . Master cylinder . Does that work and Get the vehicle back and literally 3 hours later the check engine light comes on . Oil pump code . After multiple defective parts and installing a pulley that is smaller and throws the timing chain off and cracks the pulley . The vehicle is still not fixed 4 weeks later . We try and remove the vehicle after hearing references from the owner to using google and going to get on the “big computer” because the job is obviously over their head . We have to call the police after the owner yells at my wife because we are frustrated 4 weeks later . This guy holds our vehicle hostage and we are forced to pay him $1654 which the police tell us is our only choice to release it . Now we will be contacting a lawyer and will be getting our money back eventually . This guy or his son are not skilled to work newer model cars and in his own words is just now starting to see these models come in . We also got another similiqr story about this place from another mechanic.

Sometimes life can throw you a curveball and when you are in need of help it’s great to know locally owned family businesses like R&D Automotive and wrecking are around to help. I always enjoyed seeing their colorful trucks and fun tagline they created which always made me smile but finally when the need came about I had the opportunity to meet them and was greeted with very friendly wonderful customer service and would recommend them to anyone!

Called this place on New Year's day, I had blown a tire on New Year's Eve. Spoke to the owner, I needed mobile service, he explained it was a $200 charge just to come out for holiday charge. Okay, have him the size tire, he said he'd go check at his shop and call me back. Never received a call back. Very unprofessional.

Great towing experience. Unlike my last tow, they actually showed up. Not a long wait time either. Used to it taking 2 hours, guy got to me in 40mins! ♡♡HIGHLY RECCOMEND ♡♡

There was a mix up with insurance and my car was sent to the wrong place. When we contacted R&D the man was rude and did not give me the exact location of my car. A few minutes later some woman from R&D yelling at me and hung up when I tried to get a word in. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. DO NOT USE!

Mannn highway robbers . turn and run from this service ! They tried to charge a lady mileage from to pick up her vehicle and mileage to tow to her destination. The insurance she has pays for her tow 12 miles free !!! She need to go 16 miles they charge her 60 bucks for 4 miles ! Yeah crooks she shoulda call somebody else

When my car had gone off the road to avoid someone else in the middle of the night they came right out to get me. Despite it seemed forever I waited less then 30 minutes for them. Very professional people to have service. I am 1 happy camper with them.

This local wrecker & garage business is owned by a caring family whose goal is to see, not only your satisfaction for the job at hand, but also to develop a lasting relationship. Since using Linwood for my car repairs, I feel like I've got an emergency wrecker service in my back pocket. The man will go through so much inconvenience to do good by you. I really trust the guy.
