Employees generally provide what I need on any given day and I’ve been taking trash and recycling to this location for over a decade. They point me in the right direction/trash or recycling bin when I ask. They have helped me unload heavy items when I asked. When I am in a hurry and know what goes where, they leave me alone. I’ve never taken my dog, but since reading they give out dog biscuits to peoples pups, I like the employees even more. I might even take the employees some cookies the next time I bake.
Helpful employees that work tirelessly to help us and to keep recyclable items in the safe and proper locations.
They take time to speak with humans and animals and give treats to the four legged friends when available.

Some new faces in the staff that covers this location, traffic pattern has changed to one direction to enter and one direction to exit....to me this is safer.
Workers are always helpful. Going for 5 yrs, no probs unless someone blocks the road. They give my dog biscuits. These guys/gals work in severe weather -pethapa ppl need to cut them some slack?

Nicest employees - they’ll tell you exactly where everything goes. I’m always in and out super quick. I usually show up within the first hour they’re open and they’re never busy.
This place feels like a cross between Thunderdome and Mad Max. The staff are unfriendly and seem uninterested in helping, and the chaos from people dropping off their stuff is next-level. Drivers will block the entire road to unload their garbage without a second thought, creating traffic jams and frustration. If you’ve ever wondered what the DMV of garbage collection might be like, this is it. Be prepared for a stressful, disorganized experience.
This place is for residents of York County. They only have a certain amount of capacity. That's why they check your driver's license. Love the guys who work there.
Somebody's meemaw and pawpaw yelling out of the window demanding I pull my car up when they got 20 feet behind them to back up. Insane!!..plus.. i wasn't parked that close to them to where they couldn't just pull out. Then gone have an employee to come ask me to move my car. I was told by the employee that i was blocking traffic.. which I wasn't. So i moved my car up thinking i was in the wrong spot. Granny and nem just couldn't drive. But anywho I get out and ask the employee was I in the wrong spot or something because the guy could have just backed up. He tells me "no you weren't. He could have backed up." Dude!! Why am I being asked to move then?? I just felt like that could have been handled better. They could have directed him to back up a little.
Just bought a home in York County about 2 minutes from this location, don’t have a SC license plate yet since we moved from out of state but still tried to provide proof of home ownership once this man started questioning me. Employee was extremely rude and disrespectful (seems to be the same person other people have written reviews about). I was only there to drop off a few moving boxes so I expected him to be kind and let me off the hook while I wait for my SC plate to come in. That was obviously not the case and he seemed to enjoy turning me away - I typically don’t post bad reviews and understand people have bad days but this recycling center should be ashamed that this man is still employed here after what looks like 2+ years of negative experiences due to him.
I'm very critical of places. I give this place 5 stars. I've been all over this country from east to west north to south. One of the guys I would say is a bit blunt, but was never rude, my opinion. They asked for my license and I have nothing to hide so who cares I showed it. Very clean and orderly place. I wish all recycle places were like this. If you don't like the service go somewhere else to take your junk. I've been here multiple times and will continue to return. And thank the volunteers for their service.
Just hope you don’t catch Bill in a sour mood. I’m giving two stars for Buster and the other good fellas who work here. Bill is the reason that it’s not 4 or 5 stars, as the guys and this place is usually amazing and treat us well.
I've very grateful for this place! I know some people complain about having to show a driver's license, but the employees are just doing their job. It's not a big deal. They have areas for trash, big item garbage, electronics, cardboard, glass, etc. No yard waste or dirt. I've never had a negative experience. The staff are great and do a good job. Highly recommend!
Good place to take out the trash, but similar experience as everyone on here. Old grumpy employee asked to see my SC license plate. when I couldn't show him, he demanded to see my driver's license. I was so shocked that I would be asked to show some ID like some criminal.
Everyone here is extremely nice. You should know how to separate your items and what you can take before you go. Also know the types of receptacles they have. Makes the dumping process easier for everyone.
Most of these guys are retired and aren't allowed to help unload your heavy items for risk of injury. Bring help.
This place is a joke! Loaded a washing machine in an suv and I was told to put it over the top of the side of the can. The first guy said rudely why didn't I bring help. He asked another guy if he would help and he said not me! Someone else would dump it on the side of the road.
Why would they not have a flat spot to unload?

Fat old man that thinks he owns the place was extremely rude when we brought a trailer. We asked if we can dump just some of the items and he said no when others with the same sized trailers were dumping similar things. Seems like everyone only has issues with this one power hungry employee.
Absolutely atrocious. I was turned away just because my car has an NC license plate. Until now I would come here to drop off my recylables (and frankly it isn't ever even that much! Just a bag or two at most!) and then I'd go shopping for groceries and whatnot in the area while I was there, but guess what? Now not only am I never going to shop in York county ever again, I'm going to try to never spend a dime in SC ever again if I can manage. And the worst part is that the next closest recycling drop off center in North Carolina is a half hour drive away! I'm not driving half an hour just to recycle, so I'll reluctantly be throwing all of my recyclables in the garbage from now on I guess. They'll be in a landfill instead of getting recycled. I hate this.
There was nothing extraordinary about this place... It provides the same variety of disposal options for various waste products... Practically identical to the local recycling center on Mt. Gallant in Rock Hill as far as it's layout & the waste options available. Unlike the location in Rock Hill however, the Baxter Recycling Center has a phone number that you can call to speak to AN ACTUAL PERSON on the other line with comments/questions.
I visited the Baxter Recycling Center (versus a visit to the closer Recycling Center in Rock Hill) not to get rid of waste but to follow up on a recommendation from a few employees that told me about Baxter having shelves upon shelves of paint, many still full, some never even opened...
They were right!
The only confusing thing about this place is WHERE DO I ENTER? or HOW? I ended up having to pass the Recycling Center on my left, & making a U-Turn at the light. The entrance was the first, out of 2 driveways on the right, that open to the recycling center, acting as both the entrance & the exit for vehicles.
I'm new to the area..this is the easiest recycling center I've been to in 3 states. Don't go on Saturday too many cars and trucks. Crazy people getting mad at too many people.
Attempted to bring two bags of trash to the dump today and was denied due to FL plates but I own property as well as several businesses in York County. Was denied quite rudely, shocked at the attitude of what appears to be the ‘head honcho’
The center is fine it's the base of humanity that simply doesn't know or care how to behave like human beings. Seriously, wait your turn and act like your momma taught you some manners!
