Our RV broke down on Route 26. We were able to get onto a side road at a rest stop and were able to limp to Gaines Automotive. Cory went above and beyond to find the parts and repair our RV and get us back on the road.

Corey and Lisa saved the day! My car broke down on I26 on July 5th, which was a Friday, late afternoon, about 2hrs from home.
Corey answered the phone and was extremely helpful and patient on a holiday weekend. Once he had his hands on the car, he and Lisa were very communicative along the way as he diagnosed the problems. At this point, I hadn't even met the people face to face, and had no idea what to expect. Corey was extremely knowledgeable and professional and only did the work that was necessary. He didn't jump the most expensive solution. He started with the high-probability, low cost issues and went from there. If I was local to Gaines, this would be my shop. Good people, and extremely competent!
As great of a mechanic that Corey is, he's a greater person. Long story short my truck overheated on I26 after the water pump went bad. He towed us to his place and diagnosed the initial issue quickly. Little did we know when I came back to get my truck the next day the issues were much more. My guy advised me to buy a new alternator direct from GM, to save money, and after 4 hours the problem was still not fixed. He gave me a ride in his personal vehicle to meet my friend that was picking me up from Charleston because my truck was not ready as we thought it would be. The next day he went above and beyond to diagnose the issue with GM, corrected it, and had me on my way. If I was local I would go to him for all auto needs!
Corey is the absolute best! My daughters and I were stranded on 1-26 with a busted radiator and Corey quickly pick us up and our car and towed us back to his shop. He was extremely helpful and quick to get us a quote for repairs. I highly recommend Corey and Gaines Automotive!
The staff is extremely helpful. I was in a wreck and needed to get items out of my car on a Sunday during a holiday weekend. They helped me to retrieve all of my items very quickly and were so kind! Highly recommend.
Our car broke down due to an alternator issue on our way back to FL. from NC. We were towed to Gaines and Corey called everywhere to try to find us a new alternator. After several hours, he found us one and then worked on the car for a few more hours. I feel he did his best to help us, especially since we had 3 dogs in tow and were having a pretty miserable day! He let us stay with the dogs in his office and offered us refreshments until he was done. We were grateful for his kindness and assistance. A very nice man and experienced mechanic.
Corey helped us out in a time of need. We had a caliper seeze up on the interstate, and he helped us source and fixed it. We were en route back to Canada, and he went above and beyond. An amazing human, who on a Friday evening did everything he could to make sure our family was safe and back on the road. Thank you!!!
My Tahoe broke down on our drive back home to Buffalo, NY from family vacation in Florida and Cory Gaines towed me and my family off, drove us to a hotel, and arranged for a transmission shop to make repairs. He was there for us in a true time of need - going above and beyond a mere tow-off. Thanks Cory!
Our vehicle recently broke down at a rest stop close to Mr. Gaines‘s business. I called him and he came to us within 15 minutes. He was extremely professional, courteous and friendly. He towed our vehicle back to his shop and had our problem diagnosed and fixed within a half hour. He was extremely fair and only charged us half his normal fee saying that it was a simple problem. He easily could have told us it was a bigger problem and charged a lot more money.
Ignore any bad reviews about him. People are people. Cory is extremely honest and knowledgeable and we recommend him wholeheartedly. Thank you again Cory for your great service. Ross and Jody
Very unreliable, uncaring and inconsiderate. Not to mention unprofessional and rude, I DO NOT recommend under any circumstances. He took all of my daughter’s stuffed animals and my personal belongings and put them God knows where, then blamed him changing out his “surveillance camera” on why he couldn’t show me WHO “supposedly” took my items on tape, plus he damaged my vehicle badly and then when we went to court he lied. And because I couldn’t prove it good enough, he won the case. DON’T trust Corey Gaines or the people that work for him. Now I’m stuck with a vehicle with over $4,000 worth of damage.
The owner was very hands on and thorough in what he does. He was sure to explain to me the issues I was having with my car in a way I could understand, and made me feel comfortable the whole way through.
The owner was very courteous and helped me out with towing several vehicles for me at a great price. The price was very affordable and he was very courteous. A great place to do business with.
