With the sudden loss of my father, my mom had to learn how to cut the lawn, something she’d never done before. Tyler and his staff found her the perfect tractor that she could manage their 5 acres. The staff was beyond accommodating and supportive during an incredibly difficult time, willing to take the time to teach her how to not only operate a tractor but also how to cut the grass. We will be forever grateful for their thoughtfulness, something you only find in a family owned business like this, highly recommend!

This is the best place to buy your items for lawn care. The sales team is very nice, extremely knowledgeable, well stocked inventory, reliable, honest and fairly priced. I have had great service. I usually go in for gifts for my husband. I, personally, would prefer my money going to a locally owned business who supports the local economy and gives back to the community. There is a reason they have been around since the 80’s! Thank you to Tyler and his staff for always treating me with kindness, respect and patience. Fast and friendly service. Large inventory for a variety of lawn care equipment. The prices are very reasonable. The staff is very knowledgeable on a large array of equipment. I no longer shop at any of the big box stores for my lawn care equipment or equipment matinance supplies. I purchased a used husqvarna riding mower 2 years ago and it is still running strong. I’ve been to this place twice in the past year, looking for small engine parts, trying to support a small business. Don’t you dare inquire about a Craftsman part here, you will be looked at like a peasant. I asked for a part for my craftsman chainsaw (can’t remember exactly what part) and the clerk behind the counter immediately cut me off and said “we don’t carry Craftsman, you might as well just throw that chainsaw away”, something to that effect. I couldn’t believe I was met with that condescending tone for just inquiring about a part. Needless to say, I found the part online and fixed the issue myself, no problem. The chainsaw is fine and does the jobs I need it for. Customer service and even a simple greeting when you walk in the door is non-existent. Judging by other reviews, I realize this place’s handling of customers is the problem, not me. Will not be returning.

Friendly and courteous. But I took my battery operated mower there once and it was just a bad battery. Then I dropped off a battery trimmer with a good battery. They say the tool was burnt. But the battery i got back is another bad battery. It will not work on any tool. I don't want to make any accusations... but I have only been there twice. The first time, I believe the battery could have been bad. This time, I know the battery was good when I dropped it off. Hope I am wrong.

Really loathe to write negative reviews of small businesses, but sometimes truth has to be said. Been here a handful of times, sometimes for parts, sometimes for service so this review is less about a specific experience and more how I've been treated over several years. Sure, they can fix things and order you parts, but be prepared to be treated poorly if you walk into the service area with request and aren't a professional landscaper/arborist. Upstairs staff is fine and usually helpful in making sure you're ordering the correct parts, but I'd veer anywhere else if you're the average homeowner looking for some help getting your equipment serviced unless you're a fan of being talked down at. This is the closest small engine repair to my house and I've given them several tries, but I'm done tolerating their elitist attitudes and will to somewhere else from now on.

Tree service owner here! I just wanted to say the staff at JD's is the best. If you get a chance, talk with Tyler—my go-to for replacement bars, chains, and parts! They also do full rebuilds on saws or tune-ups. Your one-stop shop for all Stihl and Husqvarna! Five stars! I've used them the last 10 years and wish I had sooner. Can't say enough good things! Drove 20 miles to get a part for my stihl chainsaw. They are the most unhelpful employees I guess if you dont own a lawn service business and buy off them they dont care about you all they were interested in was selling lawnmowers to the person there. Needless to say i didn't get my part and I wouldn't buy a glass of water in a desert off them.

I would never go back there for them to fix anything. My zero turn clogged every time I turned it on after I took it there for a blade replacement. After taking it somewhere else they said it wasn’t even real blades but just bent metal. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I recently visited J&D Lawn & Tractor Sales to purchase a stand-on zero-turn lawn mower for my landscaping business. Having received a severance package of $21,000 after being laid off from my previous job, I was ready to invest in a high-quality machine. Unfortunately, my experience at J&D was far from positive. Upon entering the store, I noticed three gentlemen engaged in conversation. Despite being the only customer present, I was neither greeted nor offered assistance. I spent about seven minutes in the store, particularly interested in a Cub Cadet 54-inch stand-on mower priced around $10,000. However, the lack of customer service led me to decide against making a purchase. It was disappointing to feel overlooked and unvalued as a potential customer. As I left, I had to initiate a farewell by interrupting their conversation to say, “Gentlemen, have a great day.” This experience left me wondering if my appearance or skin tone influenced the treatment I received. In contrast, my visit to another supplier was completely different. The sales representative was extremely helpful and even saved me $500 on my purchase. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend J&D Lawn & Tractor Sales, particularly for those who may share my appearance.

I’ve gone there everytime I need something for my chainsaw. I’ve had positive interactions with the service department. Some employees are friendlier than others but that’s not to speak negatively towards others. They all know their stuff and provide a great service. Dealing with the public has to be hard day in and out so I can understand some being direct. The customer being taken care of is the important part. I will be returning there to get a new saw after my last experience. Keep it up guys

I run a small landscaping business and I take all of my equipment to get serviced there. From mowers, weed whackers, chainsaws etc. They do great work and communicate really well. The turn around time on machines is always very quick compared to other lawn mower repair shops. Tyler is very knowledgeable and the guys downstairs are honest & reliable! Wouldn’t go anywhere else!

J & D’s great customer service came shining through when Jason helped me arrange for the same day pickup of a snow blower I inherited from a family member. Having it well maintained and checked out before I use it for the first time was important to me, especially since the snow season in Pittsburgh seems to just be kicking off. It was just the help I needed, when I needed it.

The people that work here are the most miserable group of people I have ever had to deal with. The guys in the repair department have zero skills when it comes to talking with or knowing how to treat a customer. I will never purchase anything from here again. In reply to the owners comment. I wasn’t irritated to walk up stairs to get the paperwork. I was irritated that the gentleman who had to get out of his chair and come over to help seemed very inconvenienced to have to assist me as a customer when I opened the door. No greeting of how can I help you or anything like that. Just 100% rude. And then when I did come back down to get my mower the gentleman who has the work station in the very back of the shop was making more rude comments. If you look through a lot of reviews of your business there is a common theme throughout, discourteous, rude, demeaning employees. I try my best to shop at locally owned businesses and not the box stores. I will inconvenience myself in the future to avoid being treated poorly at your establishment.

They picked up my snowblower at the house for a long overdue tuneup. Kept me informed of its progress. Called me to recommend not doing a requested repair because the money I would spend wouldn’t be worth it and the machine would function fine without it. I appreciated the honesty. The turnaround time was great. Pricing was very fair including the pickup/delivery charge.
