They don't offer bags when you check out, but what happens to all the bags and boxes the donations show up in?

employees are indolent, uncouth, negligent and possess a total lack of initiative. we moved out of our house recently and had 15+ garbage bags full of quality clothing/blankets/etc... I usually try to donate to this organization because it seems more people in need tend to shop here/take advantage of their services. however, upon trying to drop off the donations (at 2pm on a wednesday) I was told they didn't have anyone working in the back by the donation area. I proceed to ask if someone could come with a large bin or something similar to collect the items I wanted to donate, and they told me I could bring them inside in a shopping cart, *if I really wanted to do that* - reiterating the fact I had a LOT of items and a shopping cart would take me 20+ trips inside.... I was simply ignored by the two employees in the front. so, I told myself, forget these people and the salvation army in general, if they refuse to execute their basic objectives, then they don't need nor deserve ANY donations. I went to goodwill, right down the road, and they were more than happy to take all the things I had to donate. they expressed gratitude and even unloaded all the items in my car for me! the goodwill employees conduct was a refreshing contrast to those at the salvation army. choosing to leave the salvation army in favor of donating to the goodwill I believe was an act in good conscience. in precis, if you have things to donate, opt to give to the goodwill and avoid this salvation army. their behavior was inexcusable in their line of work, turning a cold shoulder to roughly several thousand dollars worth of items due to their total unconcern and laziness. maybe if donations stop coming in their demeanor might change... but I wouldn't count on it

This place is horrendous. Workers are very disrespectful except a very nice lady, but there was this old lady who had gray hair and black glasses. She was following me around the store and she asked me to open my bag which I said no, Because obviously she’s not the police and I never steal anything because I don’t need to especially from a thrift store that gets their Stuff for free

Trying to navigate the store gives me such a bad headache that I don't bother shopping here anymore. Staff is unfriendly, and every time I think I have found something cute, it's stained, ripped, or there is something else wrong with it.

Normally love shopping here until today when I found out about the change to one tag on sale. Sooo disappointed! I never usually left without buying something until today. I miss the 2 tag at 50% and one at 99 cents. Always bought something even if didn't need it whether clothes or housewares. ?

So glad Google prompted me to update this review today because my formerly positive review has changed significantly. I used to come here several times a week, but a few years ago, a forced conversation with an overly talkative floor employee was so offensive that I basically stopped coming altogether for nearly a year, I was so put off by the concept of running into him again. Even when I eventually did return, I had to go out of my way to avoid another awkwardly pushy and potentially offensive interaction. Now I maybe come once every month or so, and I was shocked to see, on today's visit, that the former discounts of 2 half price colors and 1 99¢ color had been reduced to just a single half price color. The shelves weren't even half full, and it is glaringly obvious that anything deemed "better" is now sent to their online auction site. It's appalling that a place that claims to be a charity and a source of assistance for the community has opted to absolutely screw their local in store shoppers... You know... The ACTUAL "community" in need. Anybody else wonder what kind of raises their upper management have received since these changes took effect? Just gross. Disappointing.

Way to ruin thrifting (for me at least..). I don't know when this happened but every single CD and DVD is $10-$12. Why??? This stuff is usually $.5-$3 anywhere else in the world. I assure you no one is willing to pay $10 for a used workout DVD in 2024. I thought Goodwill managed to ruin thrifting by selling stuff online but you managed to one-up them. Congrats! Never coming here again unless you fix this!

BEWARE OF INACCURATE HOURS ‼️ Swear that every time I go to this store, they just close whenever they want to! Their listing here says 7pm, but I have never once seen them open until 7pm. I just pulled up at 3:30 pm on a Thursday, and literally as I opened my car door, an employee yelled "We're closed! Merry Christmas!!" from across the parking lot, then locked the doors! I have also been inside the store multiple times when employees have ushered everyone out of the store at 5 pm, despite their hours clearly stating 7pm everywhere else. Very disappointing. I do not want to waste my time driving to a store just to get kicked out in the middle of my trip or to walk up to a locked door. It costs $0 to change your hours online, please do better.

Manager was so rude. She grabbed an item away from me that didn’t have a tag, wouldn’t give me a price for it. Just wouldn’t allow me to have the item at all and was really nasty to me verbally for no reason. Just kept going on in front of other customers about something so minuscule. I do have to say everyone else I’ve encountered there has always been very nice. Her behavior actually took me by surprise, because normally the employees are nice.

Incredibly rude staff. Came to donate and had several bags of really nice clothes and they acted so inconvenienced. Two separate people with two separate conversations acting like they were so put out by me bringing them complaining, nowhere to put this stuff, how am I going to lift these bags, I will donate elsewhere next time to a place a little more appreciative.

Incredibly rude ladies working there today. One woman was aggravated with a customer for wanting to pay with a large bill, and refused to sell to her. The other was equally frustrated and let the customers know with dirty looks. (They weren't even busy!) There was, however, one nice young lady who was pleasant. The other older ones are miserable. Why work with customers if you hate people? ?

I won't shop Salvation Army bc they staple price tags to clothing/ect. 1.) Safety hazard 2.) Ruins clothes/items 3.) Its annoying as all get out and hard to remove. I would gladly shop here if they upgraded their tag system entirely. I love the way Goodwill does it.

Well organized store. The lady and the gentleman working there were really nice. The only negative aspect is the price of Zara's items, but I am glad Zara is not just putting clothes in landfills.

I love to thrift Shop. I love coming to this Avon location because it's close to my house. The tall older white lady with the dark and gray hair and wears glasses is so incredibly mean. I had a question about my total and she out loud announced she has to open up because she wasn't going to deal with this. Then she was incredibly rude the entire time . why?? I had my daughters with me. I'm only posting because this isn't the first time I've witness her act like this. It's everytime!!! It seriously makes me feel so uncomfortable to shop there. I hope managers reach out to me so i can further go into details.

We stopped by the Avon store at 4:30pm on a Saturday (it closes at 5pm). One of the employees made a point to tell everyone who walked in that they were closing at 5pm. She continued to announce that the store was closing about every 2 minutes. They closed the dressing rooms half an hour early, and told customers they had to be in line by 4:50 to pay for their merchandise. Pretty disappointing that they made it so difficult to spend money for a good cause.

Pretty nice inventory when I was there, which was only once so obviously quality could vary quite a bit. Staff is relatively fine, one woman specifically was kind of rude. They also have a policy that they will not ring you out 10 minutes before they close which I don’t think is very fair. They will announce this every few minutes, making it more difficult to focus and more nerve racking so make sure to go more in the middle of the day.

I LOVE this store. I’ve built such a beautiful wardrobe from here. Love the purpose of Salvation Army. Definitely need to buy the color tags that are on sale to get the best deals, but I can usually fill an entire bag for under $50. Workers are always really nice to me too. Monday mornings are not for the faint of heart - usually a line of pretty pushy resellers trying to get the new color tag deals. Not the stores fault, just a good heads up to know.

The signage on the door stated they were open until 7p. They announced that everyone had to be in line by 440p because they'd be closing at 5p. The line stretched at least 15-20 people deep and was extremely slow moving. Twice, new customers came in and the employee ( older woman with medium length brown/gray hair pulled back on low ponytail and glasses ...didn't catch a name) literally scolded them that they were closing at 5p. Each time this happened, they were completely confused and mentioned the signage on the door. The employee was extremely rude during the whole encounter. Once approaching the cash register for my turn, the girl in front of me was called to be rung up. The same woman said " you still have hangers on your merchandise, you have to take it off and hang them up ( pointing to a rack on the other side of the desk). We will take the next person". Again, her customer service skills were non-existent and she was bossy and rude..no please or thank you or friendliness whatsoever. The girl looked confused and walked near me and said she didn't know, and neither did I....because there was no signage stating that. I hardly ever waste my time writing review posts ( and especially this long).. but that woman was a bitter

They made it mandatory to wear masks, which is perfect fine but they do not do their part. They do not sanitize anything, the store was disgusting. Everything was dusty and some products contained odor. I am 100% with Thift stores, but I never had such an unhappy experience. I used to come here all the time, but recently they have not been keeping up. It's unfortunate.

Would give zero stars if I could. Went there to give a pillow top mattress used under five times. Would not take because the (box spring) yes I said the box spring you know the thing that gets covered had a tear about an inch and a half long???? The employee told me the manager would not take. Not that the manager took the time to walk back and look. Could have been a real nice bed for someone in need but laziness prevails again!!! So sad

I was just there June 22, 2019. I pulled up to the door where everyone unloads their donated items and there was a guy who was moving boxes etc and there were things piled all over the place ( outside the doors ) I asked the employee where I should put my donations and he says anywhere. I told him it looked like there were a lot of items and if they transfer a lot of the items to other Salvation army’s. He said no then said something about trashing them. I asked him if they were going to trash the clothes etc that I brought and he just smiled. Another lady who was donating items asked me if she heard correctly that they were going to trash everything that was being donated sitting out there. I just I don’t think so because I brought almost new clothing and shoes and picture frames etc. then when I asked that same employee if I could have a donation slip ... he said “ for your garbage “? Then I said hey ... I brought very good clothes , coats and shoes etc ... he showed me the slips and I filled it out and left. I hope he was kidding and that the Salvation Army isn’t really going to trash all of those clothes , shoes , picture frames , scarves etc that I brought and I also donated teddy bears in excellent condition. I am never donating anything else to Salvation Army if all they do is trash things that others may need. To top all of this off I donated a brand new poker game and the employee dropped it and all of the pieces went everywhere. I asked him if I could help him pick it up and he said no he will sweep it up and he took a broom and swept it up and threw it in a box that he was throwing everything in as if it were trash and when I left I seen pieces of my game all over the place

The drivers that came to pick up our USED children's dresser were highly critical of the furniture item because of normal wear for an OLD and USED children's dresser. They were rude and highly unprofessional. I will not consider donating here in the future and will not make purchases here. There are plenty of other thrift stores that are gracious, appreciative, and kind. All values that ALL of your employees should show in this kind of business and is clearly lacking from this particular location.

This store is awesome! We love shopping here. We always find great deals at this location. It is the best Salvation Army Store in the area. Today we went to find a comforter for our bed. While we were there we found a battery charged lawn mower! Our lawn mower had broke. This was a blessing for us. I reccomend this store to everyone.

Not a friendly store, it's clean though. Prices are high, even for broken or torn items, due to Avon's demographics. Wednesday's are 1/2 off day, Except for furniture and electronics, which doesn't make sense. Wednesday's are packed with a line to the back of the store at times with only one, sometimes 2 cashiers (there are 3 cash registers). Employees are rude, they act like you are bothering them. If a tag falls off while trying on clothes, better make sure you can secure it back on before paying for it, because the cashiers will treat you like your price swapping and refuse to sell you the item.

The staff is almost always rude, possibly due to the fact they are always short staffed. The prices are far too high for a thrift store also. Once in a great while you may get lucky and find something decent priced being the half off color. The bathroom is always unusable BC it's so disgusting. Overall, the worst thrift store around.

The price increases at this store have brought full retail price tags to used goods. So much for "thrift"! They have color tag mark down days but exclude many items from the sales. It's like coupon day at Macy's, the good stuff is never included. Don't check with the employee, they don't know the score & aren't inclined to help! Sorely disappointed in an institution that I have supported for most of my life.

They have great prices and great clothes for everyone and great house items too. This store is very clean and the bathroom were very clean too. But they do need their employees to check the game case for the right cd's for the games and for the movies for dvd's too. They need to do this before the customer leaves and buys these items. But they are very friendly

I was shocked when I went there today. I had gone in the past, but some where along the way, things have "changed." The store is clean, organized, and the people are fine, but the prices are ridiculous....even laughable. The home goods, vases, glassware, etc. are priced so outrageous. This is not Nordstrom Rack . There was a vase that was priced at $34.99! Crazy. Walked out with nothing, I just could not bring myself to pay those prices for used and donated items. Some body is getting very greedy.
