Highly recommend! Jim and Aaron worked with us over the phone to get us amazing quality reclaimed wood prepared and shipped to our cabin in California. They are extremely knowledgeable and highly professional. They are highly skilled craftsman that understand wood and everything about installing on any substrate. Our project was on cement slab in cold weather climate which is particularly challenging, something I would not leave to anyone but a professional. They take complete pride in their work and helped us through the design, prep and were even available to consult with our installers real-time to ensure everything was perfect.

I have purchased several items from Jim at Whole Log Lumber and am already planning more projects to convert our home into a mountain retreat. I purchased a mantel, a fireplace surround and an entire front porch. Jim was awesome in helping me with the design, choosing the correct scale logs for the different pieces as well as the right type of lumber and finish. Once you meet Jim you will be hooked. My husband and I wanted to replace our plain looking mantel with something that would stand out and call attention to the fireplace. We found a large selection of reclaimed wood at Whole Log Lumber, much of which would make a beautiful mantel. The difficult part was making a decision about which log to use! The folks at Whole Log Lumber did a beautiful job of cutting and finishing our mantel. It looks beautiful. We love it, and our friends compliment it all the time. Whole Log Lumber is the best!!!

We restored my husband's home place and discovered the original pine floors and bead board walls and ceilings. We needed to replace damaged areas and add some reclaimed flooring and bead board where new walls were added so we went to Whole Log to see if they could help. . Whole Log had what we needed and they were easy to work with. Their bread board had just enough old color on it to be interesting so we simply added a clear coat on it and installed it in the laundry room. It is one of the favorite rooms in the house when people come see it. The old pine flooring matched ours with plenty of character showing.

We are restoring a 150 year-old house and it has been difficult to find modern building materials that are appropriate. I took a small piece of old wood flooring from our porch to Whole Log Lumber. Within a few days they had custom milled heart pine flooring boards that perfectly matched the old boards. It was so beautiful I hated to paint it to match the rest of the porch. The cost was surprising reasonable. I strongly recommend them.

The red and white oak flooring I purchased from Whole Log Lumber was re-purposed for the third time when I finished the walls in my Fly Rod Repair Shop. I chose to use the unfinished side of the flooring so as to create a collage rustic effect. The walls turned out as I had planned and the project was a fun experience. The wood I purchased from Whole Log Lumber was very choice and very clean for re-purposing.

First of all, the drive to Whole Log was beautiful as we wandered through the Green River Preserve. We had a project in mind that required a length of old wood to wrap our funky front porch. The great folks at Whole Log helped us through the ‘rough’ stages of planning and the process went ‘smoothly’. Get it? We were extremely satisfied with their help, the cost and the timelines of the finished product.

The product I used was absolutely beautiful, the milling (tongue and groove) was perfect and even the packaging was good and easy to handle. Questions and communication were handled quickly and honestly, the pricing was excellent and most importantly we were blown away by the product delivered- it was exactly what we were looking for. (Note:The lumber we needed was unusually long and very specific for a high-end custom ocean home) I'd also like to add that this was our first time buying from Whole Log, complicated by the fact that we were buying sight-unseen. Whole Log Lumber is in a league of its own. There is nowhere I've ever found that offers the large selection and reasonable pricing that Jim does. We first went to Whole Log in 2010 when we were building our mountain home on a friends recommendation for a mantle and other wood projects for our house. We were very pleased with the service, variety, quality and price. I am a woodworker and have visited regularly since then for many wood projects and have been very pleased with Jim Stowell and all his crew...the best!

Everyone who enters our home remarks on the beautiful floors. Whole Log Lumber also created a built-in bookshelf and trim. All are gorgeous and truly unique. They were knowledgeable, professional, and friendly--it was so easy to work with them. The choice of wood is impressive, and the staff is eager to educate its customers on the qualities of various wood types. We highly recommend Whole Log Lumber.

Can't say enough good things about Whole Log Lumber, they helped us out from start to finish with our reclaimed hardwood flooring we had installed throughout 4 rooms in our home (kitchen, dining area, bathroom and laundry room). The floors look amazing! They are Carolina Character mixed hardwoods with a 50/50 mix of Brazilian Brown and Natural Woca oil finish. Aaron was extremely helpful, the perfect mix of being willing to listen and understand our taste and vision, but also the experience to guide us in the right direction to achieve what we wanted. He walked us through the whole process, showed samples and kept in touch through the delivery/install process. He recommended a great installer (Botnar Flooring), and when we were still unsure of which oil finish to pick he even made up a fresh set of samples for us to compare the full Brazil Brown oil vs 50/50 mix. Without his expertise we probably would have gone full Brazil Brown and it would have ended up too dark for our taste, he pushed us towards the 50/50 mix and he was 100% correct, it ended up being EXACTLY how we had hoped! I absolutely recommend you check them out for any kind of flooring/panelling/wood needs, their prices are extremely reasonable for their amazing product and truly one of a kind, eco friendly results.

I've been familiar with Whole Log Lumber's gorgeous products for a while. When I finally was ready to get reclaimed wood for our carpenter to build a T.V. console, I was amazed at the care and concern Jim and his team gave me so I could have the accent piece to compliment my living room. Wonderful people with a wonderful philosophy preserving our wood.

Jim and the staff at Whole Log Lumber are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about reclaimed wood. They do a fantastic job and produce a high quality product at reasonable cost. We have used their wood in a number of projects and have not had any issues.

I've used Jim Stowell and Whole Log Lumber many times on my projects (I'm a contractor) and it has always been a great experience. They are wonderful to deal with and I always get great quality lumber, flooring, and beams. Can't recommend them enough. Too bad there are only 5 stars, because I'd give them a 10 star selection. Can't wait for the next project involving them. They make me look good with my clients.

I made several visits to Jim, showing him what type of floor I had and we talked, in depth, about what I wanted. He sourced out some old heart pine from upstate NY. It was extremely easy to work with him on our project. In a matter of four weeks he had the lumber and had milled it to the multiple lengths and widths I needed. The floor is now down and stained. It is THE most beautiful floor ever, all thanks to the the excellent work and customer service provided. I highly recommend Whole Log Lumber for any project requiring reclaimed lumber.

Jim opened our eyes (and hands) to the world of reclaimed hardwood. He’s very knowledgeable and dedicated to producing/selling a quality product. We were novices in working with reclaimed hardwood flooring. After deciding on a bundle of Carolina character heart-pine, Whole Log Lumber literally walked us through every step of the installation and finishing. They do provide some instructions/best-practices on their website which serve as great guide… but if you need a bit more hand-holding (as we did,) they’re more than happy to oblige. Some of the best advice Jim gave us was: “it’s your floor -- get to know the wood with your hands, sand/screen it to the place you’re comfortable with, the burnishing is going to make it beautiful to the site and touch." It’s been almost a year, and we are absolutely thrilled with our floor. Aside from the awesome aesthetics, the maintenance is a piece of cake — Example: our 2yr-old decided to drag a crate of toys across the floor. There were sharp objects sticking out of the crate which resulted in some scary scratches. We simply took out the Master Wood Oil we had used for burnishing and applied to the scratches… a little buffing and viola, it’s beautiful again!

WOW !! The quality of the wood, the friendly, personal service and the attention to detail are unsurpassed. We had a Carolina Character Oak floor installed in our Master Bedroom in May 2016 - we bought the house in April. Jim said the wood came from an 85 year old barn in eastern Tennessee. The finished floor with the WOCA oil treatment turned out even better than we expected. Our contractor was amazed and took pictures to show his other clients. Our family and friends gasp when we take them on a tour of our new home and show them our master bedroom suite. We used the left over wood to create a wall accent piece. Thank you Whole Log Lumber. We recently purchased old hickory wood flooring from Whole Log Lumber. It was shipped to our home without incident. The floor was put in by a craftsman carpenter who told us he could not believe the quality in the wood, not to mention the milling was none to compare. So little was wasted we have enough to left over to do our master bathroom. Whole Log Lumber was very professional and wonderful to work with. We highly recommend Whole Log Lumber.

Jim and Loy at Whole Log Lumber are great folks to work with for any size project requiring high quality reclaimed heart pine, oak and mixed hardwood lumber. The dining room table that I built using their heart pine has served me beautifully through the years. Our Hand in Hand Gallery in Flat Rock had an amazing cabin grade heart pine floor from them and it got so many comments through the years. Jim and the crew also helped me with a special project of creating a new sign for the gallery using redwood recycled from a water tank. They handled the glue up, cut out and sandblasting for me.
