I LOVE the new Trading Post now that it is under new ownership. Dan the owner is so sweet and so is everyone who works there. You can not beat the prices! The variety of stuff is mind blowing! It’s a must check out store!!!

Now under new ownership. Went today to reopening and found several good items at a good price. The new owner is an experienced trader and negotiator and is willing to make deals. I suggest buying several items and he is willing to work with a fair offer. I'll be back frequently.

What small items they have are a bit over-priced but the furniture and larger items are very good bargains and there's alot of them! A must-visit if you're in Avon.

Was really excited to see what was inside n out of this store. Disappointed. Some Unique items most products are not priced. When asked how much… the older grey haired man will demean you when you counter offer. He gets items at a very minimal cost from estate sales and will over price the product. At the trading post you are put down. I’d drive by.

Was looking for bookshelves for my new office and happened to find a matching set and an antique toy chest for one of my daughters. Owner gave us a great deal, treated the family like his own, and they delivered the next day. Highly recommend.

Running estates sales also. Pics are posted, then they disappear. Obviously selling before the sale. Skip this one…the things you want may be sold already.

Jim, the owner, is one of the hardest working men I have ever met. He is good to his word. He helped me clean out my mother's apartment after she passed. He treated all my mother's items with care, and if I ever need help in the future, Jim would be the first person I would contact.

I was interested in a few pieces for sale but there weren't any prices on them. When I asked the owner how much, I was given prices higher than I could afford so I said, "No Thank You' He got extremely angry and said, "I don't have time for this s**t- close the shop." Then he stormed off. It seems all of his prices are higher than most antique shops in the area. I would stay away from a shop owned by such a rude dealer! Helpful (0)ShareEd

Place is packed full, unfortunately it did not have the variety of items one would hope to find in an antique store. As places go, the stock changes so I would go here again and hope for more of a selection. On my visit the inventory was mostly large furniture, barely any books or toys. I do not recall seeing any clothes. Will update review if I visit again.

Take cash with you. Encase internet goes down. Found something I liked but by the time the helper found the price and everything I was done. So we left. But they did have some really unique items. I would recommend walking through it.

We stopped at the Trading Post in Avon this past Saturday on our way home from.points west. Our visit there turned out to be the kind of shopping experience that you hope for, but don't get very often. We arrived there as they were getting ready to close, but they were nice enough to stay open and let us look around. We found a wide selection and variety of previously enjoyed furniture and decor items in very good/excellent condition. And unlike so many stores that price their used inventory with unrealistic prices and refuse to negotiate, I found that Jim is willing to work with you on the prices. It seemed like everything was negotiable. We saw a desk we liked, negotiated a fair price with Jim, bought it, and Jim delivered it the next day (Sunday). Outstanding, friendly service is really rare these days, so our thanks to Jim and Justin at the Trading Post for a memorable shopping experience. We'll definitely be back soon.

The good news is that The Trading Post has an incredible variety of "stuff". The bad news is that Justin (the salesperson on site the day we were there) is not very knowledgeable or responsive to customer complaints. First, he clearly had no idea how a gas dryer works. We bought one there but initially it did not work once it was installed at home. We called him about it and he stated that it was working before we bought it. It was not hooked up to gas in the store so all we knew was that the electricity worked (in that it started). He clearly didn't know the difference between a gas and electric dryer. He then stated that we bought it and there was nothing he could do. He added he would call us right back to discuss further. He never did. Fortunately, we were eventually able to get it to work. He also does not know antiques. For example, he didn't know the difference between cast iron and brass. While he was certainly friendly (until we called to complain), he also is a high pressure salesman. Compared to other antique stores we have frequented, our experience there was unique (and not in a good way). Despite the amazing array of stuff there, we won't be back.

I do not recommend shopping at the Trading Post. On 07/01/17 while shopping there, I found a chase/lounge chair that I was interested in purchasing. I spoke with an employee and inquired about the price (as there was no price on this piece of furniture) and was told that I could have the chair for $100. I agreed to the deal, paid cash, and received a receipt. Delivery was discussed and agreed upon at the time of the purchase. On 07/02/17, a neighbor that lives down the hall from me also was having furniture that he purchased from the Trading Post delivered to his apartment. The young man assigned to deliver the furniture informed me that there was a mix up and the owner refused to let the chair be delivered to my apartment. I talked via phone to the owner. The owner was beyond unprofessional and beyond disresptful. What I found out was that apparently the mix up was that the chair was offered to me at a price that was much lower than what the Trading Post originally paid for the chair, which had only been in the store three days when I purchased it. The price mix up was not my fault nor did I have prior knowledge of what the Trading Post paid for the chair. The owner stated that there was no delivery agreement (which was a lie) and he was not going to deliver the chair even after I said I would pay a delivery charge. I decided to go directly to the place and talk to the owner. He was even more belligerent in person than he was on the phone. Jim Jerris told me several times to get the hell out of his place, that I was a loser, he did not care if I ever came back, and if I wanted the chair I would have to get it out of there by the end of the day. The chair would not fit in my car and I had no means to transport the chair. I decided it wasn't worth it. Giving my money back apparently was not a problem with this guy. Jim Jerris instead chose to bully me by refusing to deliver the chair, chose to be belligerent, chose to be intimidating to get the chair back so he could resell the chair for a higher price. There were potential customers shopping during the altercation who decided to leave. I ended up telling Jerris to shut up and that he had no right talking to any customer like he was talking to me. Apparently he had no shame and did not care about his unjustifiable actions. I did leave with my money returned. Jerris got the chair back and can now try to sell it for more money. Buyer beware. Very bad customer service on the owners part. Again, I did nothing to provoke this altercation and had no knowledge of the price mix up until after the fact. This was definitely not a friendly experience and absolutely do not plan on ever going back to this place.

If you want it they have it.If they don't have ask and they'll look for it for you. Lots of stuff from art to garden, modern to antique, pianos to coins, tools to dishware, chandeliers to table lamps. Lots of fun to look around.

This a great place for great bargains on used furniture and even books, artwork and lamps. Jim, the owner, gets great buys from high end estates and passes the savings on to customers. Brian, who works at the store, is always eager to show you the best in what you're looking to buy. The store has beautiful used pieces from antiques, mid century modern to Ethan Allen and Stickley. The store is overflowing with merchandise especially in the summer when they have a variety of outdoor furniture set up outside and under the tent. It's worth a drive if you love antiques, love bargains or are looking for certain pieces of furniture you need. We can't say enough about our favorite store! Check it out for yourself.
