Have you ever lost a scrabble piece? Instead of buying a whole new board game, come here for 25 cent scrabble pieces. They also have some really cool pieces of furniture, kitchenware. Yeah the lady in the front might not be the nicest but if you were working here, you probably would go a little bit cray.

Person working this evening (fri 6/6/25) is the greatest of all time. Helped us achieve the impossible. made it home safe through sheer force of will. <3

What a find! We were lucky enough to stumble upon this antique/thrift store while on our way to dinner. We were just in town for a visit but man, what a find this store is for someone looking to for charming furniture and unique pieces to add to their home. They had out some Christmas decor so we snagged this little Santa as a souvenir and will cherish him during the holidays for years to come. Great prices and a good selection. Definitely worth a visit.

Love coming here to collect trinkets and little pieces for crafts. A lot of reviews talk about the staff being rude. I've never really had a bad experience here. The owner can be a little snappy but if you just don't film and bring small items like jewelry to the front, you're fine. Don't let the negative reviews deter you away entirely, its worth a visit. I also don't think the prices are high?? Maybe it's cause I don't shop for big items here but everything small is just a few dollars. I'd say its real cheap compared to the other vintage shops in the area.

Let me start by saying that I have been going here for years, and never understood why people always wrote bad reviews about the staff. Well, today that all changed. I had gathered a stack of postcards and handkerchiefs and wanted to put it on hold for about an hour, so I went up to the older lady at the front desk and politely asked if I could do so. She snapped at me, took all the items into her hands, and told me that I could not put anything on hold and that I would either have to purchase or leave the items with her since she said lots of customers hide their items in the store to come back later. I explained that I understood that, and simply wanted to go through my items briefly to narrow down what I wanted to buy versus pass on, but she refused to give me the items back unless I purchased them. I am not really someone who needs good service, fine is just fine with me. But she was so rude that, after happily purchasing from this store for years, I will no longer be returning.

Reiterating a lot of what’s already been said on here but very rude staff. I was walking through the store, holding a frame I planned to buy (like one would do shopping literally any where) and was chased after and told it needed to be held at checkout if I wanted to buy it. Felt very uncomfortable for the remainder of my experience browsing. Will not be returning.

I’m not someone inclined to write reviews, but the elderly woman behind the counter is unbelievably rude and items can be very overpriced. I went into the store and when someone (speaking broken English with a thick French accent) politely asked her about newspapers in the area, she berated him. Told him not to ask her questions again and again and that he should go out of Williamsburg if he wanted a newspaper. Secondly, when attempting to buy a lamp, I had misunderstood the price due to a faded sticker attached (the real price was far overpriced considering the state of the lamp). She opted for a condescending tone and told me that I didn’t have enough for it even if it was the cheaper price (5.00), which was blatantly untrue as I had asked her if she could break a $50 for me. Very unfortunate, but after reading these reviews, glad I walked away from her mid sentence while she tried to insult me.

I’m convinced the negative reviews are all from some random TikTok of one person having a minor bad experience because this place is so the opposite. Most of the negative reviews seem to be all saying the same thing in the same way. Anyway - this place was awesome and had a huge selection of everything from art work, hardwood furniture, records, dishes and vases, and chairs. So many cool items and such great prices. I found really awesome stuff and will definitely be back. The staff was so kind and helpful! They brought our basket up front so we didn’t have to carry it everywhere and the front lady was so sweet! I was surprised because I read the comments and expected the worst. I loved the huge space but even with all the space it was packed in there. It was nice that it was busy though. Lots of cool and kind people who enjoy fashion and decoration. The prices again are very very great! Most thrift places in this area are trying to rob you. For perspective - I went to mock thrift right after this and the plain men’s t-shirt was $75 (a used, polyester, no name, stretched out, musty, loud patterned, random shirt) At mother of junk, I got a really cool vintage Czech tea pot and 2 cups for total $16. I got more stuff but just for this example. So do with this info what you will but you’re missing out if you decide to listen to the band wagon comments

I absolutely love looking at trinkets and "junk". Perfect place to just look at old photos, paintings, toys, furniture, china/dishware, records, mini tapes, and jewelry! The lady nor worker were rude. Just a regular worker you'd find anywhere

Now I understand all the one star reviews. Went in with plans to buy a few things and witnessed an employee berating a customer. It was pretty shocking, the screaming and cursing coming from the employee’s mouth. I immediately walked out stating that’s one way to lose customers as the woman who I can only assume to be the rude one in other people‘s reviews sat behind the counter and clapped. A little anger management wouldn’t go astray there.

A-V-O-I-D Absolutely unacceptable behavior. The moment we approached the entrance, the owner began yelling at us—before we even stepped inside. He barked things like “No pictures!” and “Get out of the way!” Then told us to go around and enter through another door in the most aggressive, rude tone imaginable. I was shaking from how unnecessarily hostile he was. I didn’t even make it into the store and I already knew I’d never return. If you enjoy being berated for simply showing up, this might be the place for you. Otherwise, avoid this unpleasant, chaotic place and spend your time and money where customers are treated with basic decency.

Their stuff is ok, sometimes great, mostly overpriced, but I confirm the woman at the cashier is the absolute worst. I’m German and my treshold for customer service is pretty low but her unacceptable rudeness last time I went made me leave the stuff I was about to buy. I mostly enjoy what they have and even the grit and dirt, but she makes it an unbearable experience every time I go.

Poor customer service. The old woman upfront, probably filled with regret of her poor life decisions, is extremely rude. We are your customers, not your children. The place is a fire hazard (someone call the fire marshal) and filthy (mold upstairs). Learn some respect and maybe you might make a sale. Never again.

Pretty good prices on art, furniture and plate ware. Staff was insanely rude, like woah I’m sorry why are your vibes so bad for no reason? I walked near the front and a lady yelled after me to not go over there because they’re smashing furniture. and I’m like…ok there’s like 15 feet between me and the smashing, and also who are you yelling at???

**Review: ** I recently visited this store and, while I found a few items I liked, my experience was unfortunately marred by the rude behavior of an elderly lady at the front. Some of the prices seemed quite high for what were essentially fixer-uppers, and when I inquired about the price of corks on one of the fixtures, she barked at me that it was clearly displayed—though I couldn’t find a price at all. I asked if she would consider giving me a deal if I took all the corks, but she firmly said no, which I respected. No hard feelings about that. However, her smart remark afterward really left a bad taste in my mouth. My friend even pointed out that this kind of service is likely why the store has such low ratings. Additionally, much of the store's inventory looked like it came from the curb—broken pieces and incomplete chair sets. Overall, it was a disappointing visit, and I doubt I'll be returning anytime soon.

The lady who works behind the counter is unbelievably rude and mean. I was just poking my head in and looking at some records and she yelled at me that the records were unpriced and that I must stop looking at them. I was a little confused and tried to clean up the misunderstanding, and she screamed at me with the most condescending and horrendous tone and language.

I have come here multiple times and had a perfectly normal experience. Today however was jarring and my friends and I will not shop here again. Two separate encounters with the staff. A male staff member berated and screamed at a customer for taking a photo. This made me physically uncomfortable and visibly affected other people in the store. The second experience was with the woman behind the counter who accused a customer of stealing when she asked for a reimbursement after being charged twice for a plate. The woman behind the counter was so unnecessarily cruel, threw a $5 bill at the customer, and said “now get out.” I should add that the customers English was broken which added to the overt cruelty and unsettling nature of the interaction. Life is short, save your money for a small business whose owners/staff treat people with kindness.

The owner of "Mother of Junk" is incredibly unfriendly. I asked to film briefly and was met with a flat "NO," no explanation. Expect glares and dismissive vibes from this unwelcoming individual. Asking for anything feels like a burden. The hostile atmosphere makes shopping here awful. Seriously, just skip this place. You won't be greeted with kindness.

I am not discrediting the below reviews (as I am sure they are valid), but I was not served by the lady described - so maybe that is why I had a more pleasant experience today. On a whole, the store is filled with lots of trinkets and I am sure there is something for everyone. Granted you need to dig around and it is a little dirty (as expected for an antique / thrift store), but there was lots to look through. I was left alone to browse, and was able to secure these plates, which I have been on the hunt for a while and found they were reasonably priced.

I never write reviews, and I’m not an oversensitive person but the woman behind the cashier was extremely unfriendly to me. I see a lot of people are posting about her, and she probably takes pride in her ‘rudeness’ but this shop is not worthy of customers. Do they even want to make money? Such a terrible experience. Avoid this place at all costs, people.

The older woman who works at the desk is nasty. When trying to make conversation and asking about and item she was condescending and shook her head at us. Usually there is a younger man who works there who is far more pleasant. Don’t know where they found this horrid person from.

I went there 3 times over 6 years and never had a bad experience and bought some stiff everytime i went there. Huge selection and you need around an hour to.find some cool stuff but it's quite fun. Compared to other antique/thrift/flea markets, the prices are decent but i did notice they have increased the prices every year, still cheaper than all the other stores in the area.

Walked in on a snowy Saturday. They live up to their name. A lot of random junk for sure. A variety of choices, my favorite was the random beer can collection. If you are looking to kill some time, I’d go here. Good selection and the prices seemed fair enough.

Someone should teach manners to the staff working at noon on Saturdays. We think the person is unhappy with his choice in life and he pays with the customers. Disrespectful, and with angry issues. Beware of coming here on a Saturday morning. It might ruin your weekend

The worst most rude owner and absolute disgrace to the neighborhood and community. Really sad because the spot could be so great. I’ve been here a bunch of times and every single time I leave empty-handed because of how she has treated myself and other customers.

This is an excellent place with antiques. I don’t understand why people are being so picky. Price is nice. I got some China.

Someone recommended that I go here and I absolutely loved it. I am so confused by some of the reviews here talking about the older woman. The signs specifically say if you’re carrying something small to bring it to the front. The older woman at the register was stern, but I wouldn’t consider rude. I also thought they were closing because the garage door was closing and I asked a gentleman that was working there putting dishes away. He said “we close at 9 so you live here now!” And he laughed. He was very friendly. I think people are too sensitive nowadays. Calm down. It’s a shop with some incredible finds. I bought the most amazing painting and other adorable knick knacks. Like chill baby chiiillllll!!

A wonderfully weird indoor flea market. They sort-of organize, kind-of categorize, and individually price every specimen that finds its way here. It’s a no haggling situation, but the prices are generally fair. Anything overtly on-trend is usually still less expensive than the other, more edited Williamsburg vintage outposts. You’ll find aisle after aisle of old dishes, buckets of collected bric-a-brac, thousands of bizarre framed paintings, brass knick-knacks, vintage lighting, well worn outré furniture, and more. They get new stuff constantly. The older lady mentioned in some of these reviews is the proprietor. She is just a harmless and colorful local character. The other folks who work here are often super friendly, helpful and all seem to have excellent taste in music. On weekends it can get crowded in the narrow aisles. Weekdays are far more mellow. Give it a whirl. You just might find a treasure. The real name is just, “Junk Brooklyn”

I got yelled at by a white dude just for taking a photo—despite there being no signs prohibiting photography and plenty of pictures of the place online. The staff are rude, uninterested, and unwilling to help. The whole place has a depressing atmosphere, like everyone hates working there. Plus, the products are actual junk.
