I have been using Red's for years and have had good experiences with the previous owner. Also lately referred someone that had a bad experience. So I was a little apprehensive about returning. But I was pleasantly surprised my issues were resolved and cost less than what I was quoted.

It took over 40 days to get my van back for a wire and harness they said they had a special order! just the runaround then I get it back. Paid for a new battery and it wasn’t in there could’ve been an honest mistake but…

I brought my car in with a check engine light, they had my car for four days and told me the issue was solved. I payed the $601 that was due and left, less than an hour later the light came back on, I took it back and they never gave me a definite answer to what it was. I only received a partial refund after I put the old parts in myself because I was going to need to wait for them to switch the parts around. Never did I get an apology or anything to work with. The general manager was not willing to work with me nor was he nice or apologetic.

These guys do amazing, fast work and always manage to fit me in last minute! Everyone here is incredibly kind, informative, and genuinely helpful. Reds Auto has honest, trustworthy mechanics you can actually rely on. I’m a 26-year-old woman and I’ve had way too many bad experiences with greedy mechanics — finding this place was such a relief. I’m so happy I found them. 10/10 recommend getting your car serviced here. Thanks again, Reds Auto!

After many years of taking my car to the dealership, thinking that I had no alternatives because it is a Mercedes. And after having had numerous stressful experiences having my car maintained at the dealership, when I needed assistance today and the dealership could not help, I had to find someone who could. I called a tire shop, which is the only other place I had ever taken my car and they could not provide the service I needed, but they recommended Red’s in Lake Orion. I am tremendously grateful for that recommendation and grateful for the service I received today at Red’s. Not only were they able to help me, but it was the most pleasant and least stressful car maintenance experience I’ve ever had. Everyone was so nice and so helpful, and I feel I can really trust them. I will definitely be bringing my car here in the future. Thank you for everything.

I brought my car here, this place was recommended to me. my car needed a lot of work. As soon as I brought the car in, I felt at ease. Marty assured me that he would find out everything wrong and get back to me, He did and I trusted them fully. They helped make a bad situation not so stressful Especially around Christmas. I’m beyond thankful for these guys and all the hard work they put in!! Don’t hesitate to call them and bring your car for all your cars needs! I’m beyond thankful!! Reds Auto is great! They diagnosed my Range Rover’s A/C issue quickly and found it only needed a simple evacuate and recharge — no unnecessary upsells, no gouging, just honest service at an honest price. It’s refreshing to find a shop that’s straightforward and trustworthy. Highly recommend!

Red's recently repaired our 2007 VW Beetle. The service, communication, work, and pricing were all fantastic! I've been looking for a reputable mechanic since my previous one retired a number of years ago. I'm both excited and relieved to have found Red's!

I couldn’t be happier with my experience here! The staff is friendly, professional, and clearly knows their stuff. They took the time to explain what needed to be done without trying to upsell me on unnecessary repairs. My car was ready sooner than expected, and the price was very fair compared to other shops I’ve been to. Everything runs perfectly now. It’s rare to find a place that’s both trustworthy and efficient—this will definitely be my go-to auto shop from now on!

TLDR - Reds Auto Mechanic parked my car with the bumper shoved into a curb, broke a clip, bowed it out, and then denied responsibility — even after we both heard the scraping as I backed it off in front of them. What Happened - I brought my car in for a coolant leak. When I came to pick it up on Monday, they had parked it with the bumper shoved into a curb, breaking one of the clips and bowing the bumper outward. They likely left it like that over the weekend, which made the bowing worse. (Photo attached) When I confronted them, the manager came outside with me. I’m the one who got in and backed the car off the curb while he watched — and we both heard the scraping sound as it came off. Despite that, they denied responsibility and tried to blame “old scratches” and mix-matched bolts underneath the car. Those marks have nothing to do with this bumper, which was brand new in March 2025 and in perfect condition before I left it with them. Instead of owning up, Reds brushed it off and offered to waive my diagnostic fee. That doesn’t replace a brand-new bumper they damaged. If you value your car, avoid Reds Auto Mechanic. There are plenty of other shops with dignity in the area.

I saw an ad on social media for Red's and took it in for some brake work. Matt, one of the owners, and the staff were friendly and professional. I had my 7-year-old grandson with me and they completed the work quickly at a great price while we waited. I will definitely recommend Red's to family and friends.

Thankful for the transparent, friendly and genuine service! Labor costs from only checking online repair estimates seem reasonable to a bit above average. Only complaint is the higher than MSRP cost for parts purchased through the shop due to the non-optional shop warranty.

Great experience at Red’s. They diagnosed my car’s issue and got me back on the road the same day. Many times at a repair shop you’re made to feel like you’re being talked down to. Not at Red’s. I was treated with respect and felt like a valued customer.

I took my company vehicle in for an oil change, I was impressed with the warm greeting I received and because my schedule is so packed I really didn’t have a chance to schedule an appointment. Matt was quick to get my car in promptly even though I didn’t have an appointment. I explained what I needed done and the staff got right to it.the waiting room was clean and comfortable. Before I could finish typing a work email My car was complete and the mechanic handed me the keys. The cost was fair and reasonable a lot less expensive than the dealership or other chain oil change places I had been to in the past! I’m gladly going to return and recommend others check it out as well! Thanks again to Matt and his team for everything!

I’ve been taking my vehicle to this auto shop for a while now, and I can confidently say they do excellent work. Recently sent in a work vehicle and they were able to fix what was needed and at a reasonable price. He’s knowledgeable, thorough, and always takes the time to explain what’s needed and why. Whether it’s routine maintenance or more serious repairs, the quality of the work is top-notch and done right the first time. What I appreciate most is their honesty and professionalism—there’s never any pressure, and I know I can trust his recommendations. It’s rare to find a mechanic who genuinely cares about both the car and the customer. If you’re looking for a reliable shop that delivers solid work and fair pricing, I highly recommend this place.

Not like before. Reds was owned by Rick and was the best around hands down. Under new ownership, Marty, it is not the same. Started getting a grinding noise in front so called and asked if they could get it done before the weekend. They said absolutely. (First flag since Rick was always busy). They gave me a call the day after I dropped it off and said I needed new brakes all the way around for $930. But Rick just did my rear brakes 1.5 years prior and we only put 6k miles on the vehicle since. This is a spare 2nd vehicle for our family. They also advised I needed to clean my car since the bottom was covered in oil. This was done by the previous owner of the car for rust protection since it is a 20+ yr old car. Rick advised this should help protect it from rust and said it was a good to have. Anyway, I explained to Marty that I just had the brakes done within the last 2 years and grinding is only in the front. Marty said he’d give me a call back in 30 min. He did give me a call back within the 30 minutes and lowered the price to $790. But still said all 4 needed to be done. I declined the service and advised I was going to pick the vehicle up and probably get rid of the vehicle since it’s so old and not worth much. Marty advised there was an $82.50 diagnostic fee. I didn’t agree with the fee on the phone but thought I’d talk to them in person versus on the phone when I would pick it up. When I picked it up. The diagnostic fee grew to $90. I asked if I could pay cash and lower the fee. Mind you - I had the same vehicle there to fix a gear shifter cable 6 months prior and out the door was $75. Now they wanted to charge me $90 and they didn’t even do anything besides put the vehicle on the lift. Marty argued with me saying would I work for free. I wasn’t asking for them to work for free but with the condition of the vehicle my plans to get rid of said vehicle and my willingness to pay cash so they could avoid the credit card fee was not even being considered. If I had known Rick was not the owner I may have not immediately taken my car there when the issue arose. They did lower the fee to $82.50 as quoted on the phone but I charged it instead of paying cash. That’s credit card fee they could have avoided. I ended the conversation with - just lost a long time customer. I will not be bringing my cars back to Reds. Update: ended up getting second opinion on vehicle and they stated only front brakes needed to be done and still half life left in rear brake pads, rotors looked new. Cost me out the door $390 vs $790. Don’t trust this shop and go somewhere else.

Been going here for 12 years. Within the last couple weeks they came under new ownership. Rick the owner retired. I didn't know this until my car had already been towed to the shop. I was hesitant to have car worked on. By new ownership since RIck was only honest mechanic I've ever known in 20 years. I thought the new management team were trying to rip me off initially. After talking to Marty the new manager and Mike the Line operator on the phone. They seemed like good guys. So, I decided to chance it. I'm glad I did. They fixed my brakes and rotors for a fair market price. In a reasonable time. I will continue using this shop and will post future reviews if things change.
