I brought my car in because of an issue I’ve been having while filling up my tank. While dropping off my keys they told me verbally it shouldn’t cost more than a few hundred dollars. I gave them my keys and waited for a call. About an hour later I was notified that the car needed a new purge valve. The quote they gave me was close to $1,100. They broke the price down to $400 for the part. I looked on Amazon and found the exact same part for $48. Not sure where they are getting their price since I then called the dealership and they told me theirs are $75. Talk about trying to rip someone off. I called them to ask why this wasn’t covered on my warranty and they told me non of it was. Not even the initial inspection. After that I realized that they were trying to charge me $180 for a simple inspection that took them 20mins to do. Not once did they tell me I’d be charged for that or that there’s even a price for that. Now I understand that usually there’s a price attached that works itself into the cost to get the car fixed, but that should absolutely be made aware to anyone that drops their car off first. The man (Tyler) on the phone told me that they assumed the warranty would cover that cost and 9/10 times it is. Well guess what, your assumptions shouldn’t cost me money. That’s not how business works. There should always be transparency when charging someone.
I called to ask about picking up my car and bringing up my concerns to a lady who literally started accusing me of doing this kind of thing all the time. How would that even make sense? I take my car to get diagnosed and fight with people to not pay the fee? How does that even make sense? I literally had to tell her that I will be showing up with the police to get my car as she was yelling at me the entire time. She told me she has cameras and can see when I dropped off my car. I’m like fantastic! You can then “see” and hopefully hear when they didn’t let me know about the insane amount they will try to charge me to have it looked at. She then said I cut off the guy at the counter when he was about to tell me about the charge.
Bottom line, they don’t know how to stay upfront and honest with people. Don’t expect them to communicate or actually care about owning up to anything they did.
My message to Joyce is grow up. You make mistakes as we are all human. Own them and do the right thing. Maybe have your potential customers sign that they are aware there is a diagnostic charge that will be charged when they drop of their cars.
I only had them tow me, so I'm not sure about they're repair service. For the tow, service was fine once they arrived, but there was a major delay before they could get me. While they did tell me as much, I wish they were better about keeping me updated on the progress.
I am a veteran and my truck broke down last year(great service), so when my older SUV had an issue I took it to their shop. After the diagnostic they stated I needed a new catalytic converter. They told me the cost would be 9000.00 and there were no aftermarket converters available and that was the cost from general motors. Well I googled the catalytic converters and it turns out there were 3 for my vehicle. Cost for aftermarket was 182.00, 189.00, and 160.00. I then went to their shop and they said they would call around to muffler shops to see if they had the converters and they told me they could get me a better price at 4000.00. I told them I wanted my car back went home and called chevy dealership in Bartow. Parts quoted me 1700.00, 1300.00 and 1000.00 for oem converters (the same ones Joyce automotive quoted me 9000.00 for). My SUV is a 2009 chevy traverse.
Drew arrived within 15 minutes of calling for service. He was polite, informative, and quick. He had a portable battery charger that was able to get our daughter's car up and running again. We highly recommend this business. Everyone one we talked with was courteous and helpful.
If you want to lose money and have your vehicle break down multiple times, come here. My partner had a terrible experience, having initial car repairs, but his vehicle breaking down 2 times more within the same week. Joyce's would not even help him tow his car to the junkyard as a courtesy for not being able to fix his car. He was met with attitude, and horrible customer service when he was the one to pay a large sum of money to not even have his car repaired. His car should not have needed to returned to the shop if the job had been done properly the first time. He had been a loyal customer to Joyce's for years now, but after this treatment he will be finding more genuine, trustworthy, and reliable automotive experts that can guarantee a lasting fix.
Jordan came to my rescue and changed a flat tire. He was personable and knew exactly what to do. He finished in a timely manner. He even went above and beyond and swept up the glass that I had run over, so it didn’t happen to someone else.( It was a cold night and he did not complain even once.) I appreciate Joyce and Jordan represents them well!
*First time customer* Needed an oil change, a simple repair. Booked an appointment and at 12pm they said it should take no more than an hour. Called an hour later to confirm it was ready for pick up. Tyler said it wasn’t even lifted in the air yet at the hour mark when it was supposed to be finished. The oil change was supposed to come with an inspection and the service was taking so long I didn’t even receive the service. I did distressed before the service that I did need my car as soon as possible that’s why I booked an appointment slot prior to the appointment. Long story short an oil change should not have taken close or over 2 hours and it what of the purpose of booking an appointment when it was not honored. Never received an apology. Will not recommend if you are expecting your appointment time to be honored or getting a simply oil change in a timely manner. Poor service. Never coming back
Made an appointment for an oil change a week ahead of time. Brought my car and sat out front for an hour and 20 minutes only to finally decide to walk around the parking lot and see my car is still not in a bay. I didn’t have anyone to follow me so I could just drop the car off. I had to wait for it. So I asked for my keys to leave as I didn’t want to wait another hour possibly longer. Customer service was 6/10.
Joyce Automotive and Towing exceeded my expectations. From the moment I signed off on the repair, they handled everything efficiently and had my car ready the next day. They also arranged an Uber for me, which showed how much they care about their customers. The team truly listened, was understanding, and made the whole experience easy. I’m very grateful for their service and highly recommend them.
They got me in fast when my battery died and had to have my computer reset. They were quick, the staff is extremely friendly and I’ve had no issues with my car since! Also much cheaper than the dealership quoted.
Joyce was timely when other services called didnt respond. The guy who came was helpful and walked me through how to get into my hybrid vehicle when the battery was dead. He shared his knowledge and gave some great preventative advice.
Andrew was super cool and professional! He towed my Nissan 350z back home for me and did it very carefully! I was extremely concerned with towing my car because I had a buddy who’s Z was totaled by a tow company but was reassured by this one that it was pure professionals! He handled my car with care! This is my baby, my price possession and was treated as such for a affordable and fair price! If you call they give you a quote right away !
I had my Audi A4 sitting for about three months after it shut down from driving through standing water. I had a few mobile mechanics from Facebook come out to look at it, but none of them really knew how to properly diagnose the issue since it’s a European car.
After doing some research, I found this mechanic shop. They offered towing, which made it super easy to get the car to them. A few days later, they gave me a clear diagnosis and explained the issues that needed to be addressed. About a week after that, they had the car up and running again.
I’m very happy with the outcome and appreciate that they knew what they were doing when others didn’t. Definitely recommend!

We were visiting Lakeland on a Sunday and our vehicle would not start. Tow arrived in less than 30 minutes. Exceptional young man diagnosed problem and did his best to get us on the road. It was not possible so towed to Joyce's facility and with his kind help ordered an Uber. Vehicle problem diagnosed and solved quickly and fairly. These folks are polite, customer driven and honest. They were so sweet they popped my hood took a look at my car and it was a good like fixed in about an hour. They didn’t have the part they ordered it for me. It was delivered on the same day talk about what 20-25 minutes to get it delivered they was nice and they gave me a good cup of coffee, so I’m very satisfied with everything very much appreciated them go to them and I didn’t have to pay whatever else everybody was trying to charge me for a simple light change.
I was able to schedule a tow for my motorcycle after a tire blow out and the customer service and promptness was great! The care the driver took with my bike was much appreciated. Cannot recommend their service highly enough.
I needed a tow. I received very timely communication from Joyce Auto. They kept me updated and arrived when they said they would (very short wait 20 min). The driver provided excellent service. He was friendly, very knowledgeable and was in and out quickly. Best tow experience I’ve had in a long while.
Called to get a tow to another shop an they offer free tow up to 10 miles if towed to there auto shop which is nice when im not sure what repairs would be. Normally tow times arr 60-90 mins an they had my truck picked up in less than a hour from the phone call. We will see if they can figure out what's wrong with my truck after working on it for 2 days now. Hope repairs are faster. Will update after repair
This review is to commend Drew at Joyce Towing for an exemplary job. His efficiency was a pleasure to watch, and the care he took with my vehicle was extraordinary. We don't see this kind of expertise too much anymore, and though I seldom write reviews such as this, I had to make an exception for Drew. Give that man a raise.
My car would not start. Had to get towed through AAA. They recommended Joyce Automotive and Towing. I am glad they did. Employees are very helpful and friendly. I found them to be honest and reasonable. Will use their services in the future!
My car was a mess. Joyce Automotive took real good care of me. They pointed out things that I thought had been repaired by other recommended mechanic shops! When I called them to check on something I had forgotten about, there was no problem. Tyler's jumped right on it. I spent more than I'd planned to spend but at least it fixed right so far. I haven't driven it anywhere since the repair, but just the whining alone being stopped is worth every $10. If I have any new issues, I know where I'm going. I suggest you give them a try. Very nice people. They take there time to make sure the customer is satisfied. I had oil change, tire rotation, a new overflow reservoir replaced, & transmission oil change & I believe a hose that was leaking water into my car under the dash. The other shops totally blew me off about that problem. Thanks guys !
A diamond in the rough so to speak! Needed a timely oil change and tire rotation had received their advertisement in the mail before so dug it out and went there. Friendly ,accommodating and didn’t even think I got into my reading material and it was done! Have live in Lakeland since early 80’s and honestly thought they were just towing and tractor-trailer repair. First impression and first experience- Great place ! Thanks again to Sally and mechanics!
The service was excellent! From the tow truck operator to the estimate referral from Brandon, the service advisor, to C. Bryant who is a very competent technician. All the repairs were completed in a day. What peace of mind to find an honest, reliable, fair priced and friendly auto repair center. I will definitely be a repeat customer. Best towing experience ever. Lori was friendly and provided excellent customer service. The driver, Andrew, couldn' t have been more courteous and helpful. All taken care of in an hour's time from my first phone call to hookup. Absolutely great!
I truly hate that I have to write this review. I’ve been bringing my family’s vehicles—and referring friends and family—to Joyce’s Automotive for years. Until today, I believed they were honest, reputable, and trustworthy. Unfortunately, that trust is gone.
I brought in my wife’s Buick LaCrosse with a bad PCM. They diagnosed the problem and repaired it, though it took about 30 days for the part to come in. No issue there—I was fine waiting. One battery, one PCM, and $2,600 later, the car was fixed. But when we got it back, the driver-side rear quarter had a huge dent and deep scratches that were absolutely not there when it was towed in (see pictures).
The car is older and not perfect, but this was fresh damage caused while in their care. I called immediately, frustrated but expecting them to make it right. Instead, I was told to bring it back in, only for their team to dismiss it by pointing to a clause in their paperwork that says they’re not responsible for damages.
So let me be clear: Joyce’s Auto, you’ve lost a loyal customer who has spent thousands with you (check your records under my name) and referred easily tens of thousands more in business over the years. Not anymore. Just because you have a catch-all clause doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take responsibility for damage you caused.
I’ll be turning this over to attorneys to make it right. Unlike your shop, I believe in living by the principle: if you mess up, you make it right. And I have plenty of time to see this through.
The driver arrived very fast. He was very courteous, respectful, and professional. I needed to be towed to charge my tesla and he allowed me to sit in the truck with him and was down to earth. It was the fastest tow i’ve ever had honestly and I’d choose this company over and over again.
The Joyce tow truck driver was great. He assessed the situation which wasn't very good a 600 lb motorcycle with a seized rear wheel and transmission and got my motorcycle loaded correctly and delivered to my house in a short time. AAA however took forever to contract Joyce, gave wrong location for pickup and delivery.
I consider this company to be the worst I have ever dealt with they scout out people and very unlawful manner. To tow your car in a parking lot that is not properly marked. I am very devastated with the attitude that I received. I was told I was gonna be charged $100 to drop my vehicle then ended up charging me 105 and they were happy to tell me that if they would’ve taken the vehicle that it would’ve costed me $250 to get it back here’s a photograph of the vehicle in the place that it was parked and as you can see, there is no sign that says that I cannot park there. I’m seeking to take them to court.
