If you want to get charged for things that are normally free "to recycle" like small appliances go during the week. Otherwise just wait until Saturday when they let you recycle it for free...this place has gone way downhill once they outsourced to a private company. I literally tried to bring a broken plastic chair that was labeled recyclable ♻️ and the week day lady charged me to get rid of it.
Most places let you take stuff home , but I almost got into an argument with a guy there who said customers can’t take anything home they find their only employees. Ex someone left a blower that was broken , I was willing to fix it and take it , but employee said it was his and I was not allowed . So why was he allowed. I spoke to public works and they said if it was left there it is junk and belongs to no one .
This place made me feel like i was in the twilight zone or some kind of alternate reality with how i was treated and what i was charged. Ive never seen such an unprofessional environment. The cashier at the scale station had her less than 4 year old son who was only his underwear and a tee shirt as well as a large dog confined in her less than 60 square foot workspace. She fed her baby and ate her own lunch while making me stand outside the window so she could add up my total cost of dumping. When she told me it was going to be 30 dollars for a 3" foam mattress topper and a wooden queen bed frame i almost went back in the dumpster for it. Dumping this at a similar local yard or even a commerical space would be 10$ maximum, its unfortunate i was unaware of this scenario before going. I hope you read this review and dont set foot nesr this place. Its also worth mentioning also while i was pulling into the dumping area an employee at the yard threw a broom that missed a dumpster and woulve hit my vehicle if i didnt stop abruptly.
Excellent experience! The lady at the scale was very nice and helpful! I had my 6 y/o daughter with me, and she gave her a lollipop and was very nice to both of us! I was nervous about the prices after reading the reviews here. Let me tell you, the prices here are EXTREMELY REASONABLE!! I even brought less garbage here because I was so nervous it would cost 10x more to get rid of it than it actually did. Shame on all the reviewers here bemoaning the prices are too high! 7 cents a lb. is a fantastic price! I got rid of a whole shed for $14!! HQ dumpsters handling of the disposal center is an excellent asset to the town of Wallingford!
Easy for Wallingford residents to get rid of most of their junk. Wallingford has a good relationship with HQ. The people there are always friendly and helpful. It did cost for most items but where else are you going to get rid of that stuff?
The place is usually pretty clean considering it's literally a dump. There is one guy who works there who is just super nice and helpful. He's there everytime I go, helps me unload whatever I have. Recycling is free... So any metal or electronics are free. I just wish it was open later on Saturday.
price per bag is insanely high. Where my dad lives in NY it's less than 1/3 what Wallingford charges. It's more economical to just pay for trash pickup than to do it yourself in Wallingford which is unheard of. Paying by weight the price seems average but bagged trash price is absolutely mad. Love the guys up top who help though, super friendly.
Joey and his brother were very helpful. Joey helped me unload so many boxes out of my car. Very sweet and courteous! The woman at the entranceway is also super nice!
Customer service skills are definitely lacking and sometimes workers are even downright rude. I originally gave them a 5 but am downgrading because of bad management. Customer service all depends upon the way management trains and maintains. Prices are high and not worth the miserable attitudes. The facility is kept clean so you don't have to worry about popping a tire on stray sharp objects but it is about the only saving grace. We will see what the future brings but I will only use them when there is absolutely no other choice.
Brought a 60 lb bookcase, they wanted to charge me for 280 lb. Then refused to try and remedy. I wonder how many other people they are overcharging with their "certified" scale.
Hope someone in the town is auditing their operation
HQ has the contract, prices to high, service and staff at desk needs customer service skills. $20 to dispose of a metal twin size bed frame that they are going to get paid 2 cents a pound for is a bad deal for Wallingford resident's.
