FANTASTIC SERVICE!! My car broke down on the highway in Old Saybrook and the police arrived S my boyfriend was checking it. They called MAL Towing for us. The driver, Johnny, was absolutely awesome! Being disabled, I couldn’t get up into the truck, but he waited until my boyfriend and I went to the police station (they wouldn’t let us stay by the side of the road). He assisted getting me into the police vehicle as even those seats are too high. The he pulled the car up on the flatbed and got my AAA card.The card was expired but I thought the number was the same and expected no issues. However, when he got to the garage we selected (40 miles away!), when he called AAA for a billing code, they said I didn’t have an account! He tried calling my boyfriend first, who didn’t hear him because he was too busy yakking with the Uber driver. This was all around midnight, 1 am. He then called me and we got it straightened out on a three way call with AAA. However, I can just imagine the stress he went through, dealing with this crazy situation (tow truck drivers aren’t normally called upon to assist the handicapped, the amount of time spent about how to transport me, etc) and then, when he calls AAA for the charge number, they say I don’t have an account! He must’ve thought we scammed him after he was so nice. But it did get straightened out and he remained professional and courteous throughout. I called MAL auto to have them charge my credit card to give him a tip!

I called Mal's when my car got caught in rising tide water. I had unwittingly parked in the tide zone and found water up to the body when I returned three hours later. I slogged into the car and turned on the engine, but could not shift out of park. The water must have screwed things up. The tide was still coming in, so I feared for my car. But the person I spoke to at Mal's was able to talk me through how to manually unlock the gear. (Fortunately I had a nail clipper with me!) Mal's saved the day. Thank you!

Well for one the driver. Chris was rude and disrespectful. Would not listen to a word I said and then he gave me a bunch of crap when it came to dropping it off. Not to mention he hooked up my car wrong! First time in 10 years since I've had the car. Anyone is ever hooked up my car like that!! Worst tow company ever. Beware if you have to use them! Not worth it! They suck for AAA!

I called AAA this afternoon when my mom’s battery and alternator died and left her stranded in someone’s driveway off hwy 184. I didn’t catch his name but the tow truck driver from Mal’s was super nice, fast and efficient. He even walked my mom across the busy road and she felt so relieved that he took such good care of her and her car. I wish I knew his name because you just don’t get service like that very often anymore, and I would like to make sure he knows we appreciated him! Thanks again!

We were on the road on vacation and our car overheated on a Sunday, mals came out and towed our car to their shop, they got us in on Monday morning , found us a new radiator put it in and got it done the same day,GREAT people and great work I would give them a higher rating if there was one

Mals Did over $1000 damage to my Pontiac solstice changing battery. When report damage they said it was already damaged. When their tech took off and replaced side fender panel to access battery he bent the panel and misaligned so could not even open door which chipped paint. The Manager refused to take any responsibility for their incompetent mechanic. Work was done as a sub for AAA to replace bad battery at house. Beware of shoddy work

I had a great experience with Mal’s today after having AAA send them to my location. They were able to jump start my car even after a different company was unable to.

Thank you to Mal's for always being just a phone call away. They have provided multiple tow and lock out services for us over the years for personal and and fleet vehicles. Their response time is incredible, I accidentally locked my infant in my vehicle and they showed up right away this morning. Got the door open quickly and baby was still sleeping! We can't thank you enough for your kindness and excellent service.

My car was towed here after an accident. I went there to get my stuff out of the car and asked if they could take the plates off the car. They were closing so the employee there said he would take them off in the morning and I could pick them up. Ok no problem. Turns out he never bothered to take them off, and when I called asking where they were I got blamed for their employees incompetence AND was told it was MY FAULT for not going there the next day to *remind him* to take them off WHEN I HAVE NO CAR. AT the time I was borrowing my moms car, but I had to give it back so I had no way of getting there the next day. Regardless, I received no calls saying they had my plates to pick up (because they were never taken off.) The woman there (the manager) had the balls to call me rude and say it was my fault because I didn't demand to have him take them off right then and there when I was getting my stuff out. The owner called me back to double down and blame me instead of apologizing. If they can't do something as simple as take your plates off, DO NOT trust these people to do ANYTHING with your car!

Great customer service; polite resourceful and prompt. Johnny was excellent one of the best tows I've had. Drain plug came lose from vehicle and totalled my engine Johnny was able to get me a tow safely

I needed to be towed from Westerly, RI to northeast CT. Not one AAA in RI would accept the job. I had to limp my vehicle from a safe place down 78 to the park and ride in Pawcatuck, CT. Again I call AAA to let them know I am now in CT. The AAA lady kept saying Pawtucket and arguing that I am getting the same crappy tow truck drivers. I insisted I was in CT and I finally had to hang up and call back. Thankfully I finally got another agent and she got me a tow truck driver from Mal’s. I can’t say enough about the wonderful drivers at Mal’s. I say drivers cause somehow they had a miscommunication. The driver from Stonington took my vehicle home. While the other came in from Old Saybrook. I felt bad he drove all that way and missed the tow. I hope he is compensated for his efforts. Hats off to Mal’s … you came through like professionals that want to work! Not like the ungrateful picky about which job, towing companies in RI !!! I feel it is wrong for them to pick and choose which job they want to do. I pay for a service and the companies AAA has towing should not have an option to pick and or refuse. Leaving people to sit stranded or basically force to drive to a different location . Chancing to break down in an unsafe spot for me or the tow truck driver Thank you….to Mal’s drivers!! You deserve the to be put on the pedestal!!

My car died while driving a few nights ago leaving me on the side of the ride in a hard place. Jonny from Mal’s Auto was the driver who responded. He got my car towed to the parking lot of my employer and looked over the car with me. After giving it a jump start he stayed a moment to make sure both the car and I were all right before he took his leave. Incredibly grateful for the extra car as I am not a car savvy person and his input was valued.

AAA said Mal’s would be there in 5 hours. Before I was off the phone with them Johnny called and said he would be there in 10 minutes and he was. Got the car on the truck and to the dealership I needed to go to in 30 minutes. Johnny was super cool, Definitely call these guys. They have a brand new articulating rig and got my all wheel drive Volvo out and on the road with dollies fast. A+

Come to our home to tow a bike, argued with us about the policy despite our insurance company directly telling him on the phone that it was covered, and then tried to get us to pay him cash rather than go through our insurance. We said no, so he left a nice large divet in our driveway. When we called Mal’s and asked them to fix it, they refused. We also have the entire interaction recorded on our Ring, but they didn’t really care to hear about it.

Called AAA for my brothers car that had a bad crankshaft position sensor at 1:30AM on Golden Star Bridge. Sean was there in less than 15 minutes, and had the car back at home in less than half an hour. Very happy with service!

Called AAA at 1040 am, dispatch said it was given to Mal’s. Every hour AAA said the tow company gave several different reasons as to why ‘they couldn’t pick up my car’ between the truck becoming stuck to being next in line. Yeah, next in line for the NEXT 4 HOURS, at 2pm!!! Finally at 6pm, when I was told it would be another hour, I cancelled the tow. Absolutely ridiculous!!! No reason a person needed to be put on hold for 7 hours!!

If you need a tow, call Mal's!!! My husband and I were on our return trip home and our alternator went on I-95 in East Lyme, CT and we needed to go back home to Philadelphia, PA. We called AAA and Mal's picked up the call!! The tow truck driver, TJ, was so knowledgeable, kind, and friendly. A great driver and conversationist --no this isn't a tinder profile! We were so grateful that someone drove us and our sprinter van back 200+ miles home. We are so appreciative for the amazing service that we received and highly recommend anyone to them. Thank again!!

We were very pleased with the work, and the staff at Mal's. Our Class A motorhome needed shocks. We were allowed to purchase our own and set up a appointment. We had to reschedule a few times but that wasn't a problem. Maddie helped us with each reschedule. The mechanics were experienced, professional and friendly. They treated our full time home as if it were theirs. To all the staff at Mal's a big thank you. We definitely would recommend them and use them for our needs when we are back in the CT area. Had a breakdown while on vacation in the area, so I called the nearest Honda dealership in the area [Westbrook Honda]. They said they could get me right in, and recommended Mal's for the towing. So I gave them a call, and they were very helpful on the phone. Told us they would have a driver out to us in about an hour. Took him just over an hour to get to us, even with our vague directions/location information. Luckily, Malcolm, the driver, said he knew the area and knew right where we were. Had us hop in the truck to cool off in the A/C while he hooked us up. Had us to the dealer in no time. Pricing was very fair, and the service was fantastic. Thank you so much!

This tow service was excellent. My tow arrived within 10 minutes of calling (estimated wait was 30 minutes). There was a two person crew. Extremely knowledgeable about my car. Vehicle left on the flatbed within 15 minutes of arrival. All of this was done after 6 pm on July 3. I would recommend them.

AAA dispatched William from Mal’s and he was a godsend! My jeep broke down on a super dark part of Route 9 in Haddam! He was able to get it on the flatbed and assisted in pushing my car into my spot at my apartment complex. It was also raining a lot so I really appreciated his hard work and help with it! Definitely would recommend!

Extremely professional and reliable! They came out to jump my dead battery right before a snow storm. They were called by our road side assistance and (due to our roadside assistance companies delay) arrived during an important business meeting for me. They were very understanding and trustworthy with my vehicle so I was able to get my car back in working order without a headache! Thank you you got me out of a pickle!

Their driver Brandon was super helpful and knowledgeable. I was stranded at a gas station after just picking my car up from a different shop, my car would not go into gear. He came and within minutes knew what the issue was ( shifter cable bushing was broken) and was able to help with a temporary fix so I was able to drive the vehicle to shop I use. I’ve had them before through AAA and they are always very professional and great at their job!!! Highly recommend

*I am updating my review because I feel it doesn't do enough justice to this wonderful company!!!! First of all, I'm from Maine. I was traveling back from taking my daughter to her father's in Florida. (Mind you by myself) when I'm literally 247 miles from home in the middle of the night my car decided to die on me. Insert crying and screaming into the night. Now next morning my father-in-law calls Triple A. I was told that they wouldn't be able to get me for a while. Within 20 minutes, the tow truck driver was there. Even during a global pandemic, took me and my car to the shop because I could find a taxi service. I'm a crying mess when I get to the shop and the 2 amazing women in the office consoled me told me everything will be fine. They talked with me, and even let me charge my phone because it was dying!!!! The mechanic had my car inside the shop within minutes of my arrival. He figured out it was my alternator. The girls had the part ordered and it was on its way over only moments later. As soon as the new part was dropped off boom it was on the car!! Absolutely the best service I've ever recieved!!!! If I could say one thing to the whole crew, I would say thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely the Best!!!! The tow truck driver got to me so quick. And the guys at the shop had my car in ASAP!! And the girls in the office were so sweet, helpful, and funny!!!!! Call them for all your vehicle needs!!!!!!
