I normally don’t leave reviews, but my experience with Big Q Automotive has been extremely disappointing, unprofessional, and costly. On September 4, 2025, I paid $1,375 for a drive shaft installation. After driving less than 21 miles, the drive shaft failed again, causing additional damage to my tail housing transmission extension. I had to take my car elsewhere to have it repaired correctly, which cost me another $1,166 out of pocket. The repair was supposed to be covered under Big Q Automotive’s warranty, but when I reached out, they refused to honor it. I was told multiple times that the issue would be addressed, yet nothing was ever done. I even submitted a formal written complaint to management requesting reimbursement and a response and they have not replied at all. This shows a complete lack of accountability, customer service, and integrity. Their negligence not only cost me money but also caused unnecessary damage to my vehicle. I strongly urge anyone considering this shop to think twice. Get everything in writing and be cautious their promises mean nothing once they have your payment.

Absolute Lifesavers! Saved Our Cruise Vacation! I honestly cannot say enough great things about Big Q Auto and especially Heidi. They turned a potential vacation-ending disaster into a manageable situation with pure professionalism and incredible customer service. Here's our story: We drove to Long Beach for a 6-night cruise, arriving on Saturday, Nov. 1st. The very next morning, Sunday, Nov. 2nd—the day we were supposed to board the ship—my wife was driving my car when it popped out of gear and wouldn't go back in. We were stranded. I started frantically calling repair shops at 9:30 AM on a Sunday morning, getting nothing but answering machines. I finally called Big Q Auto, and a real person, Heidi, answered the phone. I was already relieved. I explained that we suspected a transmission issue and, more importantly, that we were hours away from boarding a cruise ship and would have NO phone service for most of the next week. Heidi didn't hesitate. She said they could look at it, and when I mentioned the phone situation, she immediately suggested we could handle everything over email. This was the solution we needed. We had the car towed to the shop and left for our cruise, putting our faith in their team. True to her word, Heidi was in constant contact via email. She confirmed it wasn't a transmission issue. Instead, they found a failed CV axle caused by worn-out control arms, which allowed the axle to pull away and fail. This made perfect sense for our vehicle, which has 491,000 miles (lol!). Heidi emailed the estimate, which was very reasonable. I signed it and sent it back. They performed all the work, even finding and fixing another small fluid-related issue they noticed. They did all this in a timely manner, even having to wait on a few parts to complete the repair. When our 6-night cruise was over, we UBERed to the shop. Heidi greeted us warmly, we paid the invoice, and we received an itemized receipt which included a 1-year warranty on the work. Because of Heidi's amazing communication and the shop's reliability, we were able to go on our vacation and not spend the entire time worrying about our car. They were friendly, professional, and did fantastic work. If you're in a bind, I 100% recommend Big Q Auto. They are problem-solvers and genuinely care about their customers.

Super bummed at this experience. I was trying desperately to get my son's car aligned before leaving for college and I took it here after a previous bad experience elsewhere. I explained that to them and they assured me they would get it done right. We asked for a printout or photo of the alignment before and after, neither of which they gave us. At first it seemed like it might be okay but after driving we quickly realized it was pulling to the left (into traffic) so we took it back. After waiting several hours the second time (the day before my son was leaving) they gave me the car again pulling to the left so much so that the steering wheel was crooked. I watched the tech test drive it and how he could hand it to me like that is beyond me. They do offer a warranty but what's the point? So I wasted $100 here and had to get it done again elsewhere. I'm sick of mechanics who don't know how to use the computer-led tools they are given to work with. The lady at the front desk was super nice so there's that...

Awesome service! Trustworthy. They fixed my back window my driver side door handle and replaced my spark plugs. This was about 7 months ago and everything is still working GREAT! 10 out of 10

My audi a6 got into a car accident and went to these guys on a Sunday. They made the process easy and worked with insurance. They repaired the damages and looks amazing! Heidi was super great! I highly recommend!

Don't take your car here. They will waste your time and money. Terrible communication and terrible quality of work. They will leave your car unfinished, I had to come back multiple times because they couldn't get it right the first time. Incredibly unprofessional, the manager Erick even admitted to me that they have been having serious problems with their mechanics. Find a different shop, don't go here.

Terrible Experience. They botched a simple coolant system repair. Had to bring the car back 3 different times because it wasn't done properly and was left unfinished. Worst part is they knew that it wasn't fixed right, and kept trying to give me the car back saying it was good to go. AC and heat suddenly weren't working so I knew something was up. The third time they got it right, but forgot to put my protective shield back on which ended up causing damage to the underside of the car. Incredibly unprofessional and terrible communication, one of the mechanics also left trash and his used gloves in the car before returning it. They gave me the complete run around when trying to bring everything to attention, saying they'd call me back and take care of me but never did.

Brought my Van here I use daily for work had a small leak on a hose and gas leaking from my cracked fuel pump seal which Big Q fixed within a timely manner and got my Van back to me in good condition so that I can continue using my Van for work thank you for your service I highly recommend.

I also wanted to warn others to be cautious about where they take their vehicles for service. I initially visited this shop because my niece had been repeatedly ripped off by mechanics who outright lied to her. Wanting to help, I saw that this place was under new management and decided to give them a try. I called for a simple oil change, and little did I know that the person who answered the phone, Jason, would turn out to be someone I would personally trust to help my niece—or any woman—navigate car repairs. From the moment Jason introduced himself, I felt at ease. He patiently listened as I explained that I only needed an oil change. Not only did he assure me that they could take care of that, but he also mentioned they would perform a thorough check and document any other potential issues with the vehicle, which gave me peace of mind. When I brought the car in, I received a follow-up call from Jason, who not only confirmed that the oil change was done but also provided recommendations for other repairs. What really stood out was that he sent photos of the areas needing attention, along with clear pricing. Although the prices may not be the lowest in town, the quality of service is worth every penny. My niece wasn’t able to afford all the recommended repairs at the time, but here’s what impressed me the most: Jason and his team didn’t pressure us or make us feel uncomfortable about not moving forward with all the work. Instead, he thanked us for the opportunity to perform the oil change and reassured us that whenever my niece was ready, they’d be happy to assist her. In today’s world, it’s common to encounter mechanics who push you to spend money as if everyone’s walking around with unlimited cash. But at this shop, there was no pressure, no upselling—just genuine, honest service. It’s refreshing to find a place where you feel taken care of without being taken advantage of. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for honest, reliable service. You can trust that they’ll treat you with respect, no matter what your budget is. I brought my car in to Big Q auto a few weeks ago now and it was the first time I’ve ever had to bring her in. I’m in college and thousands of miles away from home so it was a nerve wracking experience to say the least. I had to leave a review because everyone at Big Q is so wonderful and they did an incredible job. From the moment I walked in they all made me feel so welcome and comfortable despite my anxiety. They did a great job with my car of course and I’m so thankful they got her up and running smooth as a whistle. Im even more grateful for the management team there and how honest and caring they are. I definitely wanna give a huge shout out to both Mike and Josh. My parents and I worked mostly with Josh and he was so so helpful and genuine. He was great with communication with me and my parents even though they’re out of state, he really made sure to help us understand the intricacies of what was going on with the car so we could always be in the know. I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better experience and sending a thousand thank yous to the Big Q team; I know the situation and my car gave them a bit of trouble but regardless, they did an incredible job and it means a lot. Will not take my car anywhere else, by far the most trustworthy and amazing car shop I’ve ever been to !

The fuel pump went out in my car and they were able to repair it day of and get me on my way. For that I'm extremely grateful. However, the work was sloppy. Upon replacement of the fuel pump, the gauge stopped working. I called about a partial refund but they said it was "a pre-existing issue". A week later I took it to another mechanic that fixed the issue. Poor install work where the wire used during the fuel pump install obstructed the fuel float. Confirming that it was not a "pre-existing issue", but rather the mechanic's fault. Additionally, there were grease stains on my console, a trim part was reinstalled incorrectly and a screw was stripped in the process. Only recommend if you're in a pinch.

Got into an accident a couple of days ago right across the street and a splash guard was dragging against our back tire. Sal and Tiffany were super kind and helpful and cut it off for us to help us get home. Thank you both again!!

I’ve been coming to this place for around 10 yrs. Mainly for oil changes but when my car needs bigger work this is my place . They’re always helpful , very knowledgeable and upfront about what’s wrong with your car, what it needs and doesn’t need which is why I been coming for years… even after moving 20 miles away I still come here because Mike and Sal always make sure and take pride in their work and Mike even followed up with me some days after my last visit to check up on my vehicle. So because of everything that they do they always have me coming back because the service is top notch!

Excellent quality service and staff. My check engine was on due to evap leak. Took my car in was ready I’m a couple of days they also fixed my radiator . Haven’t had issues with my car since I highly recommend these guys. The owner Richard and manager Mike are really nice and they kept their word. I am very pleased with their work and customer service care. I will definitely go with them for any future issues w my vehicle. 👍👍

It was a great pleasute to work with the manager Mike and one of the mechanicks. They check the problem with the car, Mike comunicate with me explaining what need to be done and sending pictures even inviting me in the shop and showing what need to be done on the car. Mike explain the price for the repair even the machanick came on the telephone and explain the problem in details. I appreciate that very much. They are very profesional, excellent service, and very comunicative. Their prices are fear and offer some financial options for a big price repair. As I am very impressed with their work I am recomending this car shop to everybody who need car service. I will continue comming to this shop whenever I need it. Biljana

Great experience here! Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They got me in same day for brake and rotor replacement and was done in 2 hours! Definitely will be back and highly recommend.

Great shop to bring your vehicles. The manager Mike and his mechanic Bobby took great care of my car. They take pride in getting your car fixed at a reasonable price. My 2011 Nissan Cube is running better than ever.

I had a tire that needed a quick patch and Mike and his team took care of me within 10mins. Much faster than the commercial tire shop around the corner that said it would take 6 hours. I’ll always come here for service

Nice guy named Cesar get me in and out in less that half hour. My battery has been dying for weeks and he was very nice to me. The shop was full they didn’t have to see me right away but he really made it happen fast.

Came in with a coolant leak and Cesar helped take care of me! The work was done quickly, and I even came in to discuss the invoice and parts and he verified everything was OEM. In my opinion, the communication was pretty good, and Cesar didn't hesitate to call me up and let me know any updates with my car. I would say they are more on the expensive side, but they work with you. Definitely would come here again!

First time visiting this shop today, they were referred to me by the tire shop I use. Tiffany was nice and professional. I went in because I had a bad rear wheel bearing. At first they tried to upsell me on front and rear brakes, which I can't really blame them for because for one thing, that's their job and secondly I knew I needed front brakes however that's not what I came in for. I was skeptical the rear brakes were the source of the noise, after all I'm an ASE certified master tech who just can't work on my own vehicles anymore due to a disability and I know my noises, it was definitely the wheel bearing. I approved the labor to remove the rear drums and low and behold, the brakes were fine and it was indeed the wheel bearing. Once we verified that I approved the estimate and left my vehicle with them. Work was done earlier than originally quoted, which was great because I was able to run my errands after all. Noise is gone, car drives great so I am happy. Bottom line: I could've deducted a star for the upsell attempt but TBH, I didn't mind because brakes are a safety issue and they have to do their job, which is sell repairs. If they really wanted to upsell me, there's plenty more work that my car needs but they didn't try and sell those, they just noted them and I appreciate their thoroughness. They were polite, professional and the price was not too bad, although not as cheap if I had done it myself but, I needed the work done today and they got the job done. They offer a variety of services and I will definitely use them again in the future. Based on my experience I would absolutely recommend them. Good shops are hard to find.

My boyfriend and I used Big Q when his car did not start last week. We thought we were taking it to somewhere with great service due to the amount of good reviews, but NO! Please do not be fooled by them, it is obvious now that they must pay for their reviews. If you look closer, you will see the truth of what they are. Let me take you back on what happened. Day one: car would not turn over, we assumed it was the fuel pump. They said it was and it would be ready that day. No one called us, we had to call them to see what time to pick up after several hours. Where they said they did not a pump to fix it and it will be ready tomorrow. Day two: We call for an update, where we get told "my boss will call you" and no one would. We finally are told that they now do not have a Fuel Pressure Gage tool and are asking another shop for one. It will be ready at 4, and they will call us. 4 comes and goes, no call. We call them and they still do not have the tool and it will be ANOTHER DAY! Day three: Calling the store in the early afternoon for an update and they tell us they are still waiting on parts and a new new fuel pump after the one they got previously did not work. And that they will call when it is ready later that day. Big surprise when they did not call and we get told it would be ANOTHER DAY! Day four: They simply did not know what was going on. My boyfriend went there to talk in person where we was able to see his car and take a picture of the invoice that was on the windshield. They tell him that is is a security chip issue now and the fuel pump still. When we call for an update that day, they tried to tell us they bought a specific part and that is why they are taking long. But the invoice clearly told another story. When we spoke up about seeing the invoice they stammered about and did not know what to say. Day five: They tell us that the car "just isn't turning over". That is LITERALLY ALL THEY COULD GIVE US. And we had to call several time just to get that nonsense of an answer. What we assume was the mechanic picked up about 4 times throughout the day when we called for any information and he would tell us "my boss is on a ride right now, he'll call you back." Day six: We finally get a competent customer service person who was nice. He told us he would personally text us about any updates we had, and actually followed through. Though they basically still had no idea what was wrong and they told us it would be another day. Day Seven: We call to make sure they were even open given that it was Easter. They let us know that they were and our car was the only one in the shop they were working on that day. But then we ask them several questions, and it turns out the ORIGINAL fuel pump was perfectly fine and they never needed to replace it. It seemed to be an electrical issue. Day Eight: We get a text in the early morning that it was never the fuel pump and that a special technician is coming in to fix an electrical issue. Within a few hours it is finally fixed! Not only did they not care that they had our car for over a week, but they forced us to pay money for issues they cause. They made us pay for the labor and 3 fuel pumps, when the fuel pump was never the issue! This place is skeezy, dishonest, and frankly dumb as all hell. They do not have the tools to do basic jobs, and force you into paying for problems they cause. At the recommendation of another review we found here, we have submitted a claim through the California Bureau of Automotive Repair for their lack of business integrity and skills.

Outstanding work! David at Big Q was very responsive and took care of all of the work I needed to troubleshoot my air conditioning and replace a leaking condenser. He worked directly with my extended warranty company which made everything go smoothly. I highly recommend this shop, and thank you David for the excellent customer service!

My experience with Big Q has been awesome. First of all, we all know how nerve wracking it is to find a new mechanic. David was super friendly and helpful in diagnosing my car's issues. Upon getting my car fixed there was a weird squeak that they took care of right away. I don't know if I've felt my car drive better since I purchased it years ago! Everyone that I met while at the shop was also ridiculously friendly, I felt right at home! The technicians were transparent, trustworthy, and most of all I didn't feel like I was wasting money on things I didn't need. From start to finish I am very happy with my experience and I would recommend this place to all of my friends and family. We all know car repair is never cheap but I know if I'm spending money here I know it's an investment that's going to last. 10/10

Just the nicest guys in the biz. Both times I’ve shown up I’ve been quickly accommodated (even on a busy Sunday) and I always get the most helpful cost-effective advice even if that means less $$ for them. Mike at the front desk is an awesome dude and clearly loves what he does. I won’t be bringing my car anywhere else as long as I live in Long Beach/LA. Thank you!!!!

These guys are great. When my alternator died on a Sunday, they were the only folks open. They fixed it same day and did some other stuff. When the alternator failed again, they honored the warranty, tested my battery, escorted me to AutoZone to collect on the battery warranty because it died too...they did the work free of charge...they answered all of my questions, informed of things I didn't even ask, and the entire staff was very courteous and approachable. They are not close to my house and kind of close to my work, and I will preferentially return to this shop for future work. I have no complaints, these folks are great.
