Scince looseing my regular mechanic. Came back to a family favorite. Its nice to see they still have the same quality service. I would/will recommend to my freinds for quality service.
This shop checked all of my cylinders when I was getting a misfire code. They all checked out. No charge from this man. Look to this business if you need repair
Mike and his team went above and beyond to help us with a broken down GMC safari van on a saturday evening over labor weekend. That is, they stayed open longer to help us with repairs and also on a sunday morning. Real funny guys as well that were great to chat with! Lifesavers for us and our van.
Went by to pick out some wheels and they were super helpful and friendly. Great price and great service. I’ll be coming back again for future car projects.
My son just tried to purchase a vehicle at Borman. They kept him there for 4 hours last week completing the purchase and trading in his car. Today he tried picking up his new car to be told the car had actually been sold, BEFORE he even came to the dealership 5 days ago!!!!!!! We added the vehicle to his insurance, removed the old vehicle, cleaned out the trade in, everything and they never had that car to sell him in the first place. Worst, they seemed to only care that he was sent home with a completely different car over the weekend; that he had already refused to buy. That seemed to be the whole reason for pretending to sell him the original car. Unprofessional bait and switch tactics from a company that's been in business as long as Borman. Now he has no car, wasted a week, wasted hours on the phone with his insurer and has to start the search all over. Borman, didn't even try to suggest to him that they would do anything special (discount or increased trade in value) toward a different vehicle to make up for their pulling the Bait & Switch and wasting a huge amount of our time.
Great work. Been going here for years. Had a really bad problem and they had me in and out within a few hours. And charged me a fair price. 100% recommend!
This is from about a year ago, but I realized my old review is gone… Took my stepdads 5.0 F150 in for both cylinder heads to be swapped out along with all related timing parts because of some damage. Got the truck back a few days later with a nasty tick in the front of the motor. Took it back and confronted the owner about the problem and we were told it would need to be diagnosed, and not covered under his “warranty”. In the end I took it to a different shop that listened to it for 10 seconds before pulling it in and knowing exactly what it was. Boremans mechanics left the tensioner pin in causing a lack of tension on half the chain, causing the chain to slap and make noise. If you’re looking for a place to get half the job done, this is the place to go.
Borman’s is definitely a great place to have you car fixed. Borman and his crew are very nice and friendly. They got the job done in a timely manner. They even worked with me when it came time to pay. I highly recommend Bormans to service your car.
Mr. Borman gave me knowledge, counsel and support without asking for a dime. It turned out my circumstances required a replacement rather than a repair. He was proactive and supportive. He was referred to me by my counselor of all people. Next time I have a need I’m going here. 7/5!
Borman auto has been around nearing 50 years, these guys are not only knowledgeable, but they run off prices before we ever had inflation! They don’t need this review, but I happened to be on Google.
I would highly recommend this shop! They had my car in and out quickly and the owner went above and beyond to make sure my car was in the best possible shape. The prices were affordable and the staff was knowledgeable and kind.10/10.
A bunch of good guys that do everything from basic repairs to custom and extreme off road fabrication . They also have a great selection of used parts at great prices. For the past 20 years if I don't do it myself they're the only ones I trust to do it for me.
This place is amazing. They do great work at reasonable prices. I haven't been able to open my van doors for years but they used a an air hammer and lubrication along with replacing my rear end.
I have used Borman’s Auto for the last 28 years and had nothing but great service for the money. Work is normally done in a day that takes a week to two weeks at other shops.
Hands down one of the best auto shops in Anchorage. They replaced my transmission in my Silverado in a day, and the price was very fair! Mike is one of the nicest people you will meet as well are the people that work there! I’d recommend them to anyone.
Called for a quote late Saturday morning, and was quite a bit cheaper than other shops in the area. Dropped it off an hour or so later, and told it would be done in a few hours. Seemed to be quite busy so I wasn’t hopeful. Unbeknownst to me, both my front AND rear brakes were worn, and was notified before proceeding with work, instead of just doing it and me having a surprise bill later. 6 pm or so rolls around, phone rings, cars done. From the first call at 1:45 to driving home at 6:30, everything went seamless. Definitely recommending and making this my go-to shop.
We had our Tahoe towed here after it started making a loud grinding grinding noise they fit us in & got us back on the road quickly! They also installed our boat motor after having problems with old motors and it works wonderfully! I trust them and will take all our cars here.
Do Not Use Borman Auto off Dowling rd. Mike Borman does not stand by his work. Paid $3,000 for a used Jeep engine and installation. Unfortunately Mike Borman doesn’t think that a running engine is required after charging a customer $3k. In his own words “I don’t have anything here to work on electrical problems” Had to bring vehicle back 3 times to shop to be re-evaluated and given more bogus excuses and answers.
Mike Borman refuses to stand by his work and will continue to charge customers for not needed extra parts and labor. What good is an engine swapped out if the mechanic doesn’t install it properly and hook up all electrical components properly? What good is engine if it doesn’t start and/or repeatedly stalls out IF you actually get it running. Tried supporting a local mechanic shop after being personally introduced and recommended to Mikes shop by a friend. What a mistake! What a joke!!! Never again. Your negative reviews will add up Mike if you continue to run a dirtbag business.
best shop i have gone to since i had my vehicle broken into and they fixed it and were very descriptive on what was wrong and told me what was fixed i wouldn't change to any other auto shop!! best reliable shop i have gone to!! very appreciative of them!!
Had the transfer case done here with no issues work is solid fast and fair priced I trust them with my truck and so dose the rest of my family they are very pharaoh and will not sell you things you don't need right then and they will tell you that it's going to need it but in time for igzample I had the brake pads to do the front well it was in the shop and I was told there still good and my wheel baring is going out but is good for a bit longer rather than charging me for the brake job and getting me on the wheel baring at tye same time they gave it to me straight! can't beat that I'll be going back wen there both ready to be done no questions asked!
MIke is the man.
I called Mike early on a Saturday when my truck wouldn't start.
I towed my truck to his place later that day and picked it up on Sunday.
I thought I had a exhaust leak.. Just a blown out O2 senser..
Fast service and great bang for the buck.
They hooked me up, my tranny went out in my 79 k20, not only did he have one on hand but he also gave me a great deal. This shop has really been good to me and my trucks for the last few years. I can find most any parts I need here, still have yet to find something he doesn't have. Returns calls on time and sees to the job gets done right the first time.
I love this shop, my tranny went out on my tahoe they had it done that night for $500 less than any shop in Anchorage with a six month warranty. Mike is a man of his word and his michanics are very knowledgeable, they will take care of you and keep you on the road. I recommend this shop to everyone.
Hehe Mike is definitely a "Tell-it-like-it-is" kinda guy. He quotes you honest prices and even throws out suggestions if he thinks you can save a buck somewhere else. He was the only one I let touch my Ramcharger years ago, and now that I just bought a new one, he will be the only one I will let do the 4WD work that I cannot. He is a great Four Wheel Drive Specialist. His prices were always about half what other wanted.
these guy swap my engine for my 05 ford explorer with 6 months warranty for a really good price, lowest in anchorage. No scratches or dirty hand prints. When I went to pick up my explorer, my advance trac light was on. They weren't able to fix it so they found a shop that reset my module and the light went away. I was more then happy to pay for it because they had nothing to do with my module needing a reflash. These guys saved me a lot of money by not sending it to cal worthington. I highly recommends these guys!
