AVOID AT ALL COSTS Stranded on a 2-week trip with our 5th wheel, transmission acting up. Chevy dealer read codes; my Colorado shop said TCM needed programming. Dropped truck at Transmission City Friday AM. Ralf & Mark swore it WASN’T the TCM, so I held off ordering the part. Paid $1,262 that afternoon—told it was fixed, no codes, no leaks. Check engine light came on IN THEIR PARKING LOT before shifting into gear. They kept it all weekend. I researched, confirmed TCM failure common in my year. Ordered pre-programmed unit overnight, swapped it in 5 minutes—PROBLEM SOLVED. Ralf refused any refund. Total part replacers, zero transmission expertise. If negative stars existed, they’d get -5.

Was in town for a trip, Dodge had electrical issues (no suprise). Mark and Ralf treated me very well, both on the phone and in person. They had it in and out within 6 hours and didn't charge me an exorbitant amount for the diagnostics. They saved me and I couldn't have been happier!! I can't thank them enough and definitely recommend!

I've had my Tahoe serviced three times by Transmission City. They offer excellent service for reasonable prices. It's very important to have an honest mechanic...someone who is honest about performing service that is needed...BUT ALSO...advising me that my Tahoe is not due for a specific service when I inquired. Honesty seems to be a rare commodity nowadays.

Transmission City didn't want to order the parts or to pick them up, so I purchased and provided the new parts according to what Transmission City suggested. Two years later, when the parts failed due to poor installation, they complained that because I'd purchased the parts directly, and didn't pay the ~20% parts fee, there's no warranty. Now I'm looking at a $5,500 full parts replacement at a shop that hopefully doesn't try to weasel out of standing behind their work. These were the exact parts Transmission City would have ordered and installed, but because I paid for them directly and not through them and their ~ 20% burden, I'm stuck with another repair bill from a more reputable shop. Don't waste your time with these bozos. You'll regret it.

My girlfriend brought her car to get code p0172 fixed. They kept her car for 4 days while she had to rent a car. They charged her $1,400 and said it was fixed. Not even a day after getting her car back, the code came back up. They said there was 2 codes the first time, which is a lie!! and said they fixed the other one but not P0172, the code she SPECIFICALLY came to get fixed. They tried justifying charging her $1,400 saying they fixed some other issue that she never asked them to fix all the while under the impression they were fixing the specific issue she came in to get fixed. !! She asked them to fix code P0172. While they had her car they specifically told her they found the issue to be a bad wiring harness which they fixed. Never once telling her about any other codes. It was after we brought it back they changed their story saying what they fixed was actually a different code they fixed, and that code P0172 could be so many things they’d need to do a lot more tests. They should have done that while they had it the first time!! That is what she paid them $1,400 for!! They should not have given her car back only fixing this supposed “other code” that they had no business even fixing since they were never told or asked to fix. Completely ignored what was asked of them. They told her she would need to leave her car there for several days until they get the time to work on it. We asked if they could call us once they’d be ready to look at it instead of leaving it for days, and very rudely they said they only work on cars that are on their property. They should take her car first thing in the morning and have some better answers in the issue by the end of the day knowing she has two kids and renting a car for several days only to pay them ridiculous amount of money to not even fixing the problem she asked them to fix. These guys are scam artists. The old guy in the front and his buddy that comes to his rescue whenever he hears customers complaining. They will tell you things about your repair without actually telling you specifically the work they did on it. If there was negative stars they get em all

I generally dont leave reviews but this is so bad i have to. NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BRING YOUR CAR HERE. I brought my 1993 suburban in for a diagnosis. He said on the phone it would be $149.00 and 4 hours. It took almost three days and $480.00. He was instantly very defensive on the phone when I called and just kept telling me I have to be patient. They never asked to do more work on the truck and if I had not called them he wouldnt have told me what they were going to do. He will not communicate with you. They replaced the filter and pan gasket. Now the whole bottom of my transmission is drenched with transmission fluid and I have to take it somewhere else to get what they did fixed. They are absolute scam artists and they will break your car. The guys in the shop wouldnt even look at me when I was in there. Like they were there against their will or embarrassed. DO NOT GO HERE.

I wonder how true theses reviews are, my experience was completely terrible. No experience is this field, and thought I would get some. But apparently the guy I spoke to had no time. How do you promote business is way beyond me, I moved on to give my money to who appreciates good business.

Worst customer service and mechanic I’ve been to. I went there last year and was told I needed new batteries. I bought new batteries with a 150% mark up from this shop. Then they tried to convince me to rebuild a motor for 8-10k when I could get a crate motor for 11-14k to fix my car. After saying he could repair it they said they didn’t think the engine was good. Come to find out it was a head gasket. Now I need my batteries that I bought to be tested and got nothing but attitude when I asked for the receipt. Worst place ever.

Ralf is a great guy, he is very patient with my energetic kids. They have help me out with two different vehicles now and saved me a trans load of money. Ralf goes the extra mile explaining to me the issue and shows me the parts he took off and why they failed. Just awsome.

I am very pleased and happy with Transmission City. Very friendly and understanding. They fixed my transmission and couldn’t be happier. Very honest on what my vehicle needed. I would recommend them to anyone.

Took my car in because the engine was sputtering. Told me there was nothing wrong with my car except for the spark plugs needing to be replaced and the filters changed. They were more concerned with showing me the dirty filter from my car than actually checking the transmission. $600 and not even 24 hours later the same problem was happening. Took it back and they then told me again there was nothing wrong. They also instructed me not to drive it on the freeway & pull over or residential roads if the problem happens again????? When I took it to the dealership they diagnosed a slipping engine, that Transmission City failed to even notice. Now I have a new car and paid $600 for absolutely nothing. Needless to say I would definitely not recommend this place at all.

Just picked up my truck from Transmission City after an issue with a speed sensor inside the transmission. I was very happy working with Rolf, I have a fair amount of driveway mechanic experience but knew this job was too big for me to do and Rolf was great at explaining the issues to me and helped me feel confident in the repairs. I think the pricing was completely fair for the work performed and the work was done in a reasonable timeline. I would definitely recommend taking your vehicle here for transmission work and while I hope to not need Transmission City anytime in the near future, I would return here if I did. Thank you to Rolf and all the techs that worked on my truck.

Great, efficient service. Rolf and Mark are terrific to work with. I had three transmission flushed, and fluid filter and gasket replaced on my daughter’s 2011 Nissan Altima. I think they are thorough and do a good job respective to the get’em in and out quick as you can serviced.

Do not go here!!! Paid them to rebuild the transmission on my 97 gmc dually. Vehicle had 167K on it. They claimed that the rebuild would be better than new, good for 150k+ miles. Came with a 36 month/36K warranty. Was a vehicle I rarely drove and I only put 5K miles on it. About 5 years later the vehicle had 172K and the transmission would not go into final gear. I brought it in and they recommended a transmission rebuild! I said "Guess what- you rebuilt it 5K miles ago!" I don't think they realized that. Anyways, Rolf said it was out of warranty and they wouldn't do anything. We went around in circles and Rolf wouldn't do or cover anything. He told me to my face that he was fine with his rebuilt transmission that I paid thousands of dollars for only lasting 5k, and that it was 2 years out of his warranty. Now at 35k on their rebuilt transmission it has finally died. My current mechanic thinks that it was never rebuilt in first place judging by the exterior condition. He thinks they put in a used one. At best, Transmission City does not stand by their shoddy work. At worst, they are fraudulent and ripping people off. Do not waste your money here.

Wonderful experience!! We broke down during rush hour traffic and called Transmission City 15 minutes before they were supposed to close for the day. They were so so helpful and arranged a tow truck for us. They were able to identify the problem and repair it within a few days. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs automotive repair work done. Quick, professional, and affordable. We were very impressed by the service we received from Transmission City.

I needed to repair a Nissan factory defect that allowed coolant fluid to leak into the transmission. They were friendly and quick. It took about 3 days and around $4000 to rebuild the transmission. Just shy of 3 years later, my reverse begins to fail. I took it back to Transmission City. They warranty the transmission for 1 year, while most offer only 6 months. Even so, they recommended rebuilding the transmission again and gave me the best pricing. But with inflation it would be closer to $5K. I simply couldn't afford to do so. Even if I could, it's completely impractical to be rebuilding the transmissions every 3 years.

I had transmission city look over a classic car after an accident. Nothing ended up needing repair, but they did an amazing job digging into the potential issues and reporting back to me. Rolf was very personable and spent quite a bit of time talking me through details and sharing fun car stories. These guys definitely know their way around a transmission and I’d definitely go back to them for future needs.

I had my transmission rebuilt here less than a year ago and it has been nothing but a headache since. Every ~2 months a new issues with the transmission comes up and I have to take it back to the shop where the car sits for several weeks before they get it working again. This has happened 4 times in less than a year. Their work was completely unreliable and they don't want to give you the time of day when you come in for a warranty issue. I ended up having to sell my car at a loss (plus the price of the rebuild) because I wasn't comfortable leaving town with it. Take you car somewhere else.

Very Helpful and Honest!!! I was traveling through to the central part of the state. I was pulling a small 10ft enclosed trailer with my SUV. I noticed the "A/T Temp" the light on my instrument panel came on! I got off the freeway. I called and talked to Mark. I told him the situation, it was close to 5:00 in the afternoon, they close at 6:00 I was expecting him turn me away since it was so late in the afternoon, but he said that he would take a look at it. He checked the fluid level, scanned it with his scanner and even took the time to take it for a test drive. When he came back after the test drive, he said everything looked good! He then gave me some good advice on how to tow with a heaver load. I made it to my destination without any issues. I'm very grateful to Mark at Transmission City he could have easily told me that I had to buy or pay for something that is now apparently not needed. If I ever have the need for some transmission work, I wouldn't hesitate to take it to Transmission City after that experience! If there was 6 stars for the rating, I would give them 7 stars, I'm that impressed!!! Thank you!!!

I had my entire transmission replaced. They did a great job of explaining what it needed, and when it came down to it there were no surprises and it was right in the price range they'd quoted me. They even asked me to come back 39 days later for a check-up. Overall I'm extremely satisfied.

Great Service! I don’t write reviews often but I was stressed about getting my sons car fixed while he is away, because it’s hard to find good mechanics these days. I took my son’s truck to the dealer to replace a transmission and they wanted to charge me a little over $4000. That is a lot of money so, I did some research and out of all the places I looked, transmission city seemed very reputable. I gave it a try and took my son’s truck there. They diagnosed his truck and gave me an estimate and a deadline of when the truck would be done. I was pleased with the experience. They charged what they told me it cost me be saving me hundreds of dollars and they were done the day they told me it would be done. I’m so happy that the truck is fixed and running smooth again. I will definitely comeback If I have other issues with the truck.

They were very kind to keep my car for a little while for me to arrange a salvage sale. However they were not open like I had asked about the likely cost of transmission repair for old my Mazda 626. If they had told me the minimum they knew it would cost up front (which they knew) then I wouldn't have bothered them at all in the first place. Ralph was very good to work with though.

I had great service from these guys. My truck was having transmission problems. Transmission can be confusing, but these guys were honest, fast, and the owner is very friendly. The price was right were it needed to be for the work they did, and my truck is running great now. I would definitely go back there for any transmission problems.

These guys were amazing. I had the furthest thing from a straight forward transmission repair. I spoke frequently with Cal, who was always so pleasant and apologetic, but I know there were a lot of people behind the scenes that were busting their butts for me. They took such good care of us during the process of trying to fix our lemon of a vehicle. They gave us a loaner vehicle at no charge (except paying for the gas we used). These guys worked for months on our car bringing in several experts including a ford representative. They always gave us an update. I never felt like I was totally in the dark with what was going on. The cherry on top was the fact that they spent thousands of hours and dollars fixing our transmission (which ultimately they were successful at) and never charged us an extra penny. They are incredibly honest and hardworking. I HIGHLY recommended them to anyone looking for someone to fix a transmission. Thanks to everyone at transmission city!!!!

Reasonable price, excellent work! The transmission on my 2006 Pilot finally went out after 271,000 miles. Cal and his team of transmission specialists looked over my vehicle as a whole and said it was worth rebuilding the transmission. I'm glad I did! It runs great and I like their idea of a one-month check-up to ensure everything is going okay with the rebuilt transmission. Transmission City stands out with its quality mechanical service and its quality customer service! Recommend!

The entire reason we went to Transmission City was because the reviews were so good. They were not the cheapest by far!!($3980.00). Well… This is my first negative review I have written but I wish I would of known. We took our 2011 suburban in there on a Tuesday to have the transmission done. They said it would be done no later than Friday and we would have it for the weekend. We rented a car and returned it Thursday night. Come to find out that they had not even started our car and we didn't even get it back until the following friday! To make it worse the transmission went out AGAIN 2 weeks later because they didn't do it right!! Here we are about a month later and it is still not right!! We are going back again!! Now days you have to have a car to run around and this is so inconvenient and especially for the amount we paid!! I also tried to put a review on their website but it won't allow me. They have all five star reviews but isn't it weird I can't put a negative review on the website?? How many other negative reviews are there??
