My family has been doing business with Amarillo Metals for 4 generations and for over 40 plus years. We have never been ripped off or taken advantage of. Terrible! Absolutely horrible service! Went in with 160 lbs load. With at least 40 lbs of aluminum, 5 lbs of brass, and the rest iron/tin. The guys who unloaded didn't care about trying not to mess up my car interior when they were pulling stuff out. Worst of all though, they said everything I had brought in was tin! I had a 10ft aluminum ladder, and they lied and said it was all tin. If you're looking for a good place to recycle metal, this IS NOT the place to go. Their posted pricing is iffy at best, but then they don't even hold to their word, and their workers are DISHONEST about the metals you bring in.
After doing business with these people, they were closed today and had the unfortunate pleasure of doing business around the corner.
Not only is there aluminum copper 20 cents cheaper, they marked almost 100 lbs of #2 copper down 70 cents to copper/brass.
I try to take a very big load to Amarillo when I go but from here on out, if Amarillo metals is closed I will bring it back home or throw it in the ditch before I visit the boulevard shop again.
I also appreciate the fact that they will give advice and almost help if they see a way for you to make a few more dollars and they seem to treat the people the same if you’ve got 10 lbs or 500 lbs.

They still accept aluminum cans while Amarillo Recycling Center no longer does.
Amarillo Metals buys computer boards and control boards from appliances but I don't know if they buy whole computers or other electronics.
Their pricing system is less complicated to follow than other scrap yards.
Amarillo Metals is quick effeciant and friendly.
Arrived from borger around 4:00pm and we have always gone to Amarillo Recycling, however they were very rude when telling us that they close today at 4:00 however when we called they specifically told us they close at 4:30. Thankfully we still made it to Amarillo Metals just in time and we will be coming here from now on. Thanks Amarillo Metals.
These people straight ripped me off. They said stainless steal Isbnon ferrous which don't make any sense. It's iron at it core. They also said it no matter what stainless isn't magnetic and the guy in the office hands me a magnet says go try. I expect an apology in the least for feeding me outright lies. Don't come here unless you want ignorant people lying to you
It's been awhile since I've been here. The guys were pretty friendly and helpful. I cannot tell you anything about the office area but I imagine they are nice in there too.
Best scrap yard in Amarillo. If you've never been, it's a little confusing at first and to where to go, but everyone that works there is willing to help. Friendly and courteous.
