I was looking for something and this great lady ran me down at the coffee shop Chem Cafe and she had found what I was looking for. You don't get service like that anymore. Come to Elgin Texas and experience what it means to be a good neighbor. Thank you Lions Club Thrift Store.
I've donated to this place a few times in the time that I've lived in Elgin and I've shopped here numerous times this time my experience was horrible the manager there is very rude she picks and chooses who she wants to be nice to this time I was here to do community service keep in mind that after I'm done doing my hours I still buy a few items to support the local business and she treats me like a criminal today she let me go told me to find somewhere else to do my community service after she asked me to sweep the entire store an organize some shelves. she let me go because " she couldn't find me" because I used the restroom one time and there's cameras all over the store obviously I cannot just sweep in one area and organize only one area for 7 hours she's behind the register all day and micromanages everybody I've completed all my assignments that she asked me to do and she still decided to let me go in the most rude way she called me out in front of everybody including customers and other employees
we are elginites and refer to lions club as "the room of requirement" because you can almost always find whatever random item you are looking for! the folks in the reviews saying that the prices are "too high" probably don't understand how expensive the rent is in those downtown buildings. ignore those comments and check it out! everyone is friendly, it's a fun place to hunt for treasures, and as long as you have a positive attitude, you'll have a good time when you visit.
Im giving it 2 stars bc they did have a lot of different items including clothes. This is NOT a thrift store. The prices are not any cheaper than getting it new. It was a disappointment in calling it a thrift store. You would sell more being much cheaper than sitting on things waiting for them to be sold. Faded glory a walmart brand shirts shouldn't ever be priced more than 3$ they are new at 6-9$ a pair of faded glory overalls were 30$ ??? what?? Price accordingly and you will have more customers
Fun expensive thrift shop with clothes, household stuff, and a particularly big book section in the rear. They are located in the middle of Elgin's main downtown strip, with free street parking nearby.
Fair prices and decent selection... however, they would not sell a pair of pants without a tag per their policy. Understandable, but dumb policy. It's not like they're Gucci, it's max $15 pants. Was shopping for an event on top of things
I have made some good finds here! Love seeing the little dog when we come to visit, too. Last time I was here, a very nice gentleman offered to help us drive a piece to our home. You can’t get that kind of service just anywhere.
Well, this is not your average thrift shop where you'll find plastic containers and stained baseball caps. Lions Thrift appeared to be pretty good with their selection. The staff was friendly and there was a line awaiting the cashier for purchases.
The prices are straight-away affordable and they don't price gouge like Goodwill. Parking can be pretty limited, especially on the weekends.
I visit the store maybe once a month. I used to buy some items but in the last 8 months everything is over priced!
Today I saw some fleece panrs and the price was $9.99. Really?
They were not in the best shape but something I could wear at home or while crafting.
Back in August, I found some men's shorts, no price tag. The lady in charge wouldnt sell them!
You would think that she would like to make a sale, but NO.

Nice thrift store without the Austin overpriced items. I donate there a lot, it’s for a good cause for the children. Plus it’s a bonus being helped by Gilda and her cheerful attitude.

OVERPRICED. If they would have one price for clothes, like $1 and $2 for shoes they wouldn't have so much inventory and the store wouldn't be so cluttered and overrun with merchandise. They would also make a lot more sales and not have to spend time pricing everything. I went in to look for a pair of shoes because I had a painting project to do and $5 to $10 for use pair of used shoes is absolutely ridiculous. I can get a brand new pair of shoes at Ross for $10.99. If the prices weren't so ridiculous I probably would have spent about $20 in the store, but I walked out without spending a dime.
I visited just to see how the books were, and it was organized well and you can't beat the prices. Will definitely be coming back. They have these good reusable bags that they put what you bought into.

Great. Quite and gives me space. I dont like a whole lot of checking in on me while I shop. I can focus on me and what I need. Clean and well put together.
You never know what you'll find in here. The store is clean, well organized, and I can find a treasure almost any time I visit. The book section is really good. I'm a local, and I appreciate the way this organization gives back to the community. It's also a great place to donate your gently used things that you no longer need.
Some good bargains here. Be sure to find out their hours though they aren’t open all the time. Great place to donate your unwanted items. The book section is very impressive and they are a bargain.
Not the neatest thrift store but you will not beat the prices on clothes! Beats Goodwill by a mile! There are really nice clothes if you take the time to look through! I almost exclusively thrift store shop for clothes here at this point.
Personal is very friendly and answer all questions with a great attitude. Immediately after walking in you feel at ease and know you will find exactly what you’re looking for with the help of the friendly staff
Horrible experience, the older lady cashier was really rude. A baby gate had no price, asked her how much, she said idk and turned around... so i kept shopping. When i paid, only 2 baby shirts i found, i asked her if she found out the price, she said no, so i asked if i could offer $5 i had found one in a garage sale at that price, she went to tell me "we actually use our earned money for good, unlike garage sales". Ythe comment? Its a thrift store.. i think any money is better than any, plus all those items are donated. Thay have clutter everywhere and now i understand y. I will not go back and they can keep collecting their donations. ??♀️
What a fun place! One can always find something here. You may think you don’t need a thing, just a quick look...then there it is! A gem ? you’ve always wanted but could never find! They have so many things from kitchen gadgets to upscale evening attire! Whatever occasion it may be they will have it! Fabulous, fun jewelry too pick through, all kinds of ? . Think creative and you can find some great yard art. Did somebody say Christmas? OMG!!! Check it out, you will be amazed! The best thing of all....their proceeds go back to the community! They support Children’s Advocacy, Elgin Food Pantry, Elgin High School Scholarships ($10,000/year), Family Crisis Center to name JUST A FEW! Hats off to the Elgin Thrift Shop! Don’t have a hat? I know where you can find one!!!! ?
Very small but amazing thrift store. I love the selection of seasonal decorations and baby items. Building is always clean with a little clutter, it is a thrift store. Stuff is organized and easy to look through. Items are of decent quality, great prices. No public restroom, dressing room offered. Wheel chairs and strollers should be ok with minor problems. Shopping carts available for your convince. Staff is always super helpful and kind. Great organization that supports seeing eye dogs for bling people of low income.
