We enjoyed all the history of the mill. It was like stepping back in time and gave us a much deeper admiration of the mountain people and how they survived.

My boyfriend and I were on the way to Forbidden Caverns when we realized it was closed and on the way back saw this store and decided to stop and go in. Best decision we ever made. We are in town on vacation and the almost week long we have been here in Tennessee, this was the best place we had been. Mr. Gary Barker as well as his 20-year-long friend (I believe his name is Richard) are phenomenal people with amazing attitude and great jokesters! We did the tour and man was it fascinating. Not only the stories but the visual presentation of it all was top notch. Pictures could never do it justice, it is something you need to experience in person. This is the type of place where you go in expecting to leave in 10 minutes but wind up staying for 3 hours or more enjoying everything the store has to offer, from the candy, to the tour, to the decorations, to the stories, to the amazing staff. I plan on passing by everytime I am in town. They truly are the most welcoming people.

This was sooo cool!! When we walked in, we were greeted immediately by the owner. Very knowledgeable wanted to make sure we didn't have other questions because he was going to eat! A real genuine guy! Everything within the mill, their knowledge, being able to touch walls made of hand hewn logs was incredible!. Seeing how their was a financial system was amazing! They also have tons of candy!!

It was wonderful to see the mill open to the public and offering tours for a reasonable charge. The mill building was decorated for the fall season, and the gift shop open with store keepers being friendly. It is a great stop to learn how the mill operated in days gone by!

This is a restored mill that is no longer functional because of fire safety reasons but has an interesting history that you learn about if you pay to take the tour. The general store is really cool looking inside and out and well worth the stop.

Charming little shop located inside the historic Grist Mill! They feature old-fashioned candies in big glass jars, delicious homemade treats made right on-site, and candy apples crafted with locally sourced apples. You can also enjoy a guided historical tour of the mill for just $10 per person.

An unexpected, picturesque little stop off the beaten path, this charming little general store is a hidden gem pure nostalgia. It's got all the old school vibes: homemade fudge & sweets, shelves of classic candies & snacks, and even sodas in glass bottles; every corner oozes vintage charm. Stepping inside feels like a sweet trip back in time. Outside, the old mill makes for great photo ops, perfect for capturing those small town vibes. Bonus points for the well-maintained restroom, a rare find on a road trip.

My husband and I stopped by here since there was a parking area, and a grassy area nearby. We had our 2 dogs with us, so we wanted to give them the opportunity to take care of business. When we found out what the place was, we decided to stop in. It was really neat, and informative!! Lots of old timey candy, and other things. The tour was honestly my favorite part. It was $20 well spent, and we've already recommended it to others.

My husband and I made a quick stop to check it out and ended up staying for the tour—and we’re so glad we did! We were greeted by the wonderful Debbie, whose humor and friendly spirit instantly made us feel at home. The owner led the tour, and he’s truly a treasure trove of history—we could have listened to him for hours. If you have the chance, I highly recommend taking the tour, then treating yourself to a sweet treat and an old-fashioned soda in a glass bottle while soaking up all the fun history.

Wonderful restoration of the mill. Definitely take the $10 tour. You can even turn the gears yourself. The store has many locally made goods, some are made on site and you could watch them make it. Breads, fudge, pickles, jams and more.

We visited this fully restored and functioning grist mill from 1795. It recently re-opened as a store and museum. The tours are incredibly educational, and our tour guide, Kaitlyn, was exceptionally knowledgeable and genuinely excited to share her expertise. The old store houses an impressive collection of antiques, and they also sell delicious freshly made chocolates and fudge. I can’t reveal too many details or post too many photos; you must visit it to experience it for yourself!

Turn back time to when times were slow and simple. This place will take you back. My kids, wife, & I loved this place. It is a must go if you are into old timey things like us. They have just opened so not a big selection of things to buy yet but they are doing FREE tours of the mill 10 people at a time. Give them a few weeks and it will be even better. Let’s help support them.

We stopped in to look around and had the pleasure of getting a tour by the owner. He was very knowledgeable about the history and we enjoyed seeing all the artifacts and hearing about how the mill operated. They have candy, fudge and bottled sodas for sale. If you are in the area, it’s definitely worth a stop. They are continuing to expand.

Stopped to take some photos but found they weren’t officially opened to the public yet. Nonetheless they opened the door and asked if I’d like to be shown around. I graciously accepted and was provided a great tour by Kaitlyn. She seemed very knowledgeable and there were many wonderful exhibits on display along with the mill mechanicals. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner. I can’t wait until it’s fully opened! This is certainly a place that will be worth the stop once they are fully opened. You won’t regret stopping.
