If I could give a zero I would. Whoever was the very heavyset man that was working at the Socastee/Jones Rd dump at the outside ( leaves etc) waste dumpster was cussing and just being loud, rude and threatening! There were plenty of witnesses, some of which gave us their phone number In case we needed witness account. He was completely unhinged. What we wanted to do was call up and file a complaint. Maybe he was having a bad day. Maybe there was something going on in his life so we chose not to, but if anybody else has had any issues with this person then maybe it is time he finds a job that he would be happier at.

The man that was running the cardboard machine was very very rude. I had a broken wrist that was in a brace and he told me I had to break up all the boxes which I did and as I was putting the last of it on he scolds me to back up because this is somebody waiting behind me. So impatient and rude!!

They use to allow traffic down bothe sides of the bulk waste dumpster and things went smoothly..now they closed it to one lane, I waited 40 minutes in line to unload.. this I stupid, I have now started putting that bulk in house hold garbage, in a bag when I can.. you people are horrible for doing that, you need to get your shit together.

They have stations set up for each type of material you are wanting to get rid of, and each are spaced out far enough from each other to where it doesn’t really look as crowded as it is. It is all self service and everybody I have ran into there is nice and will help you if you happen to need it.

I cannot tell you how convenient this is, you can drop off nearly anything, the place is clean, well kept and there are always folks around to help out. You already pay for this place through your property taxes, might as well use it.

Rude, rude employees. We had to cut down a small, dead tree and were placing stuff in the dumpster as the male employee who worked there watched and was just fine. As we started to place the bigger parts in the same dumpster, the male employee still watching, a woman came up yelling at us that they were “too wide”. We apologized and said we didn’t know. And her response, in such a rude tone- “well now you do.” This isn’t the first time the employees have been incredibly rude either. How are we supposed to know the exact specifications if no sign or anything is posted? We always take the time to put things where they go, we ask if we’re not sure. So getting yelled at today was just unbelievably annoying.

Need to take some people schooling from the holmestown rd. Staff . The guy yelled at me because I put a bed frame in the wrong bin. Well the right bin had a sign on it that said don’t use. I told him that and he said the bin over there. It had cones around it. Not in use the sign it read. Ok if he would have been at his post it could have all been easy. O yea. All this happed with a phone glued to his ear. Get off your phone and do your job. I’m sorry but it pissed me off the way he yelled. Next time I’ll just go to the sight off holmestown rd.

Very rude staff who after one load of tree limbs comes up to us yelling saying we are only allowed to dump once a day now because we dont follow rules, when asking where are the rules because we had no prior knowledge and can never find someone goes to a sign thats nearest to the woods that is barely readable, very rude staff and do not appreciate being yelled at for not knowing a rule that can be barely seen

Moved into area, so had extra trash and recycling first few weeks. Visited several times. Fast. Could have better signage but easy enough to figure out where to put trash and not block anyone else. Glad it is here.

Most of the time and most of the people working there are nice and helpful. But the lady at the gate tonight, naw, if the gate says you close at 7pm, dont close the gate 10mins prior and turn away 3 cars. Complete waste of time and miles.... Thank you SOOO much to the people who work there that are actually chill though, y'all are truly assets to Horry County.

Gate sign and Google maps says open to 7pm on Tuesday. We showed up at 6:14pm and gate was closed. Bs! Had car full of recycling and had to drive across town to other center.

The only reason it got 3 stars was because it's close to my house. The staff is never anywhere to be seen (must be another place short on staff?!?) And when someone is out there they aren't very friendly. Fyi, you can only go once per day per vehicle.

Today I went to drop some appliances off, a total of 6 pieces where I also had a dolly attached with some of the piece. However I was only dropping off 3 of the 6 pieces . When I got there this lady approached my vehicle asking me questions and stated I can only dump what can fit in the back of my truck, I asked ok would you like for me to move the stuff around so you can see what fits and what doesn’t. To be exact I needed to drop off a fridge, microwave and a stove. I believe her name is Chrissy Skinner she asked me personal questions about how many properties I own and etc… She gave us permission to dump all 3 piece and as I’m about to put my last piece in the dump which was a stove she then stopped me and said I cannot put the stove in, I then said you gave us permission to she said no she didn’t and I cannot dump it. We’ve exchanged words and I left. This lady was completely unprofessional and she did not help at all.

I’ve been a big supporter since I’ve moved here back in 2006 things have changed in the last two years because of Covid but there’s no excuse when we’re told the dump trash on the ground because the trash containers are overfilling had 100,000 people move to Horry County this year if not more. Plenty of tax revenue what do we need to do to get this back on track the process of getting rid of trash is getting slower and slower and now we’re told to dump it on the ground because the cans are full. I’m specifically talking I got the Socastee waste center. Why did the Landfill shut down on Saturday? And knowing this why don’t they have a couple extra cans dropped off in case this happens? Like I said I’m a big supporter I would like to see this get back on track as resident Of Horry county what can we do to help? Besides being patient it’s been two years now

We have used this recycling center whenever we are at our townhouse in Surfside. easy in and out. Organized and employees helpful and friendly, even in HOT weather. Keep up the good work.

Cars and trucks for lined up for the yard debris compactors. There are only two compactors but no attendant to turn them on. This is the busiest recycling center in horry county but they do not have adequate employees

I love this place. I recycle glass, plastic, paper, metal, cardboard and oil (cooking and motor). There is also areas for yard waste/brush, wood, mattresses, tvs, computer monitors, tires, bulk items, clothes and of course regular household trash. The one stop shop so to speak. It motivated me to recycle everything possible. Thank you Horry county for making it easy to recycle ♻️

I went to drop bulk waste on the 22nd with my son. While we were dumping, a man threw away a trash can full of toys. The guy operating the compactor stopped all of us from dumping because the idea of trashing all those toys was not sitting well with him. My son jumped in the compactor and started handing these items to him. He said that there are way too many kids in need and he couldn't see throwing them out. He was very passionate about this. This guy's name is John. Keep it up buddy! It is amazing to see this kind of thing still happening during the Christmas season. I hope all those toys found there way to children that needed them. Keep up the good work!

Very helpful and friendly. New to area. Appreciate the time they took to answer my recycling questions. They offer Bulk and a place to drop off old computers and accessories, too.

This is a suprisingly easy access location. The light at 544 makes it easy to get in and out. The center itself is larger than most making it easy to get to the area that you want. The staff is very responsive to keeping things cleaned up and organized. Even at busy times its not bad at all.

NOT Open until 1pm on Sunday. Hours are not correct. Drove over and had to wait 35 mins. Others turned and left! I sent an edit suggestion to google on hours. Hopefully it will get corrected. Other then that no problems here.

We pulled in thru the gates at 6:47 on Friday afternoon and we were told that everything but the kitchen trash was closed!!! Not because they were full but because (per the guy that was there) the close early so they can leave at 7 and be home with their families! Which is understandable however if you’re open ours are from 7am-7pm that means you close at 7 and everything should be open until then!

The man working the bulk dumbster was rude and unprofessional! He didn’t want to tell me where to dump my thing and then when he did he said I’m not helping you. I was shocked and not happy with his smart remarks. Please find a better employee I know good men and women that would be more helpful and work just as hard to work there. After cleaning up and finishing up a job you don’t want to have to hear someone being negative towards you when it there job to help somewhat dumping trash or materials. I wish I could do more to get him removed.

This location is open 7 days a week which is convenient for those of us that work during the week. The people there are very helpful and pleasant to deal with. They monitor the trash bin to keep them cycling constantly. Very well organized especially entering and departing the location.

Every single time I go to this location, the gate is shut early. I get off work and bust my ass to get there by 7, just to be denied entry at 6:53. So now I have a car full of trash that has to sit there until I get off tomorrow, IF it doesn't happen again. So glad I get to deal with the smell till then. I'd give 0 stars if I could. Thanks for nothing.
