I've been going to A 1 for years now. They have always taken top care of my vehicles and my friends' vehicles. I started trusting them with my work because my old church was using them. Tony runs the shop, and he's a great guy!
Do not trust these people with your car! They told me they took apart my engine and it needed to be replaced, which would be between $3,000-$8,000. I brought it to Kia for a second opinion and they confirmed that the engine still had the original sealant on it, and had never been taken apart. A-1 takes advantage of women and will try to squeeze as much money out of you that they can. Avoid at all costs!
Currently, Hawkins Towing, I took my car there for a head gasket job. Everything looked good torn apart, got the heads resurfaced and ran great. Gotta replace the starter, because of it being turned out so much. No biggie. The problem came across when I saw that my drivers-side top water pump bolt was against a sleeve and not flat to the pump. I took it out and it was caked in mud, so I'm assuming because it was like that the entire time I've had it, the guy took it out, threw it in mud, and put mud in the hole. Hence, the gap between the bolt, so it need sleeve to compensate. I'm replacing the water pump and radiator while I've got it. Great job on the heads, but you touch my stuff, I touch your reputation. One star and shady mechanic.
I’ve been taking my vehicles to A1 for at least 5 years and have always gotten very good service at a fair price. I understand the ownership has changed, but I’ve used them twice this year and I’m completely satisfied. I will continue to give them my business
Fast and prompt service. Only negative is that somebody left my old serpentine belt covered in oil sitting on my passenger seat. Nice oil stains on my cloth seats now.
Fairly new to the Greenville area and my car started to overheat and leak fluid. After calling NUMEROUS shops & getting outrageous prices I was becoming hopeless UNTIL I found A-1 Auto. I Dropped my car off with Shayne & “the gang” for a radiator repair & they got me back up & running in no time!! & saved me a couple HUNDRED Bucks too! Cant beat it! I appreciate the service & professionalism. I will definitely be back for all of my auto needs.
I misheard the price so I feel sorta bad giving off the wrong vibes. The repair of my exhaust supports was cheaper then I thought. It was a bit cold so bring a jacket. The dog was cute.the gps takes you to the news place next to it that doesn’t connect
New owners, same great service. The guys at Hawkins Towing now own the shop. They are kind, honest & efficient. They did not overcharge a woman with a BMW, like some other experiences I have had before. I will still bring my business here and recommend to everyone I know. Great shop!
They were great very helpful and answered every question I had I would definitely refer them to anyone. They treat everyone like their family. I highly recommend
16 years ago we loved this shop. Now I wouldn’t take a bmx to them . Poor communication, no manners. You can stand in the lobby for hours . They Convinced my In laws a death mobile was suitable for my 16 year old child . With all the great newer options In Greenville you can find better .
The only place I trust with all my vehicles! Ronald and team are honest, conscientious, and totally trustworthy. I've been taking my cars to them for over 15 years, and they have bent over backwards to make sure everything is fixed right the first time. It's a breath of fresh air to find an honest mechanic, and these guys are it.
Ronald, Larry and the rest of the team at A-1 are extremely good. I have known them for years and they have always done a stellar job with all the vehicles we have taken to them. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Owner is dirty and extremely rude. Service was horrible. Went in to get my brakes changed and was treated so badly that i decided to take my business elsewhere. Bathrooms were also disgusting
Absolutely worst service I've ever experienced in a buisness or anywhere for that matter.
Twice I've set appointments with Larry. The first time I guess he didn't write it down so I showed up at the agreed time and the lady at the front argued with me and said I didn't have an appointment and would have to come another time.
The second time I called and set up another appointment explaining that I needed an issue fixed by a specific date for a road trip. I asked if it could be fixed by then. Larry said yes and told me to come in the following Monday at 8am(on memorial day).
I came and they were closed. I returned the next day hoping they'd still be able to help me out. Larry again denied that he made the appointment. They said they could still take it and do their best to finish it that day, but then later said they weren't going to go behind my previous mechanics mistake and fix what he messed up. Which makes zero sense because I was paying them to fix it. Things continued to further escalate as Larry's wife started yelling at me and Larry told me "if you would have been in your right mind, you would have known we were closed Monday." At this point I'm pretty much balling my eyes out from how aggressive and rude these people were being, but they continue yelling at me. Multiple times I asked Larry's wife to stop yelling at me, but she did not stop. I simply wanted to pay them to fix my car and was willing to still do so there even though they forgot multiple appointments. What do I get in return? Two grown adults yelling at a 20yr old and making her cry all because they didn't want to fix her AC.
Unfortunately these guys completely destroyed the engine in my 2001 Altima GXE 9 years ago (2009). I'm so mad at myself for not taking further action, but I was just a kid and didn't know better. I took my car in for an oil change and minor fix, then 3 days later all the oil leaked out in my garage (which I didn't see) and the engine went. Also, I remember when I picked my car up from them there were hundreds of ants in the back seat! I have no idea what was going on, but they completely sabotaged me. I tried to talk to them about the engine after it went out, but they had no interest whatsoever in taking any responsibility. I'll obviously never go here again.
These people have a rude receptionist and an owner who doesn't care about his customer's, and obviously doesn't know his own business well enough being he scheduled an appt for someone for a day the shop is closed. Unknown to the customer though since they took the owners word for being open that day. Customer showed up to a closed shop and no appt. Returned the next day to straighten things out and no remorse from receptionist or owner just them pointing fingers at the customer. Stating the customer should have known they were closed that day. (So why would you as an owner schedule an appt for that day?) Customer was also told to take her keys elsewhere.
All was wanted was for a wrong to be made right, the customer was still willing to give business to this shop despite the mis- scheduling by the shop. Very displeased how an owner dealt with this situation and took advantage of a young customer . I do not recommend this shop.
Used them for several years now, always the best price for repairs on our old mini van, honest and the repairs are done well, we never have problems later on. Highly recommend.
