On 10/7 I paid to have my oil changed and car inspected. I’ve been to this pep boys twice before and had good experiences. I pick my car up same day no issues. On 10/19 I get an alarm from my car that my engine is overheating and I need to pull over and check my coolant. I found this odd considering the car is a 2023 Toyota Corolla with 20k miles. I saw this alarm again on 10/21 so I called pep boys and had them take a look at the car on 10/22. I was called early that afternoon saying they think that my coolant was already low and that they have seen several new cars come off the lot with low coolant. I found it suspiciously coincidental that I never had issues with my coolant before getting my oil changed. Also why wasn’t this noticed during my oil change? It’s pretty obvious it’s empty. But the coolant charge was only $46 and the guy was nice enough. So at the end of my work day I had a weird feeling and looked under my hood. And i kid you not the coolant reservoir WAS EMPTY. See the attached picture. A five year old could have told you it was empty. So they literally didn’t fill it or missed a leak. I went back to pep boys at 5pm and showed Chris the front desk guy who was shocked. And then I literally watched a technician pour the coolant into my car. Because apparently that’s what I need to do to ensure the job I paid for is complete. I plan on speaking with the manager on Friday and demanding a refund for the coolant refill. I am also going to get my car inspected by my Toyota dealership because now I question all of the work that was done on my car. I am never taking my car here ever again. UPDATE 11/28/25: I took my car to my local Toyota dealership and they found a hairline crack in my radiator. I was sent pictures and the entire underside of my car was covered in hot pink coolant. How in the world was that missed when I took my car back to pep boys with concerns of my coolant being low?? I am 100% convinced that someone damaged my car during the oil change and state inspection and they knowingly hide it. It cost $2300 to have my radiator replaced. Thank god I had comprehensive car insurance and they let me file a non fault claim for this. DO NOT take your car here.

Called and made an appointment for a few hours later. Showed up and was told I’d probably have to wait a few hours because they were behind - when I was told that morning I’d be in and out within an hour. At the very least, they could have called me to tell me to come later - basic customer service. Instead I waited and waited, because by that point it was too late to get an appointment elsewhere. No verbal updates were given, the tracking link they gave me was not accurate, and I had to proactively ask to pay after I saw the tech return my car to the lot and drop off my paperwork at the desk. The price was fair and I didn’t have any issues with the work once it was done - but the service was horrible.

They serviced my car thoroughly and quickly. I had a very busy schedule, their timing was perfect. Thank you!

My tire fully blew out. Got it replaced in less than 90 minutes, for a reasonable price. They also did my oil change quickly a few weeks back. Recommended.

Quick efficient and hassle free service from scheduling the appointment to fixing the leak in the tyre. Bill was able to find a warranty for the tyre and was able to apply. I was not even aware that the work was covered under warranty. I did not have to pay anything for the service.

They did a free inspection on my car and solve all the problems…very professional service…

Take your time and money elsewhere. They don’t honor appointments, so you’ll be waiting all afternoon despite having an appointment. Management is rude and inconsiderate.

I had an emergency where my tire had gone fully flat, and my other tires weren’t so great. Pep Boys in Malvern gave me four new tires at a great price, and I was on the road again in under two hours. I was so impressed I took my vehicle back for additional service, and it was also fairly priced and fast. Would recommend going there for all your car-related needs. The techs/mechanics seem honest and up front about their recommendations for your car.

The two technicians, Joe and Malachi, stayed late on a Saturday to replace my tires after I got a flat and came in 30 minutes before closing. They efficiently got me back on the road as quick as they could.

Wife went in for a state inspection today. Booked an online appt. Arrived at dealer and was turned away. She was told that they needed the car all day to do a state inspection even though she was able to book the appt online. I called the store and was told that they called and left my wife a voicemail. Of course my wife had no voicemail. I asked why the store took online appts if they could not provide the service and was told that they were busy today and had to accomodate their other customers. He said next time that I should call to schedule an appt. Well guess what PepBoys - there won't be a next time. Absolutely terrible customer service. Never again... Don't waste your time at this store unless you want to waste a Saturday afternoon.

Had a great experience here. Needed my dead battery changed out, they tested the whole charging system and were able to get me in and out in probably half an hour.

They don’t know their responsibility. I made an appointment for inspection but when I went there , they says they don’t have worker who do inspection job .They never called me before and this thing happened before also . I wasted my hours several time. I never go back to pep boys again with my 4 cars.Very frustrating

Needed a quick oil change, state inspection and tire rotation. The guys in the shop were friendly, knowledgable about what's best for my older car and finished the work quickly, even sooner than promised.

Went in for an Inspection my car is a Subaru impreza and has 30k on it and is in new shape. I received a call tell me I needed all 4 tires and an alignment and breaks for the price of 1600 and change but passed inspection. I declined the repairs because I had just recently had the breaks replace and the tires still had plenty of time lefton them. I said just do the inspection. I received a call a few minutes later saying they were wrong and the car won't pass inspection unless I get new tires. Now putting myself through school as a mechanic, I asked to see the tires. They were correct on the front tires, there was wear on the inside do to the alignment was off a bit. I did have them replace the two from tires ( not the top priced tire they had qouted) and pass the inspection. The cost was 296.00. So the remaining 1300 was for just two tires and alignment? It seems this establishment wants to charge for things that do not need to be done. I drove the car to the Subaru dealership and they assured me my rear tires were good for another 20k and my breaks were new. I had Subaru do he alignment for 109.00. All I have to say is buyer be ware if this establishment.

July 19th 2024 Malver Pep boys 309 Lancaster Ave. Took my '18 Jeep wrangler for oil change. Everything seemed fine at pickup. However, I noted in the inspection report they stated that the drain plug was "difficult to remove" and noted "from another dealer oil change". I laughed a little because they did the last oil change. Then I noted they inspected the air filter and it "passed". I thought that was also amusing because I couldn't remember getting it changed before so I decided to take a look and again just had to laugh.. The was about 50 acorns in the tray along with the original Mopar filter that never was changed. I noticed in the reviews that they struggle with basic oil changes so there's not much confidence for any major work. Extremely disappointed.

Manager Bill and team went above and beyond to replace my flat tire on a busy morning as quickly as possible. Very reasonable pricing as well. Thank you Malvern Pep Boys team!

Jake is very kind. But I have been charged $708.73 just for a water outlet housing plastic part, I accepted caused I had to drive back to philadelphia. Hours later after repaired they realized the thermostat housing has to be replaced too, for another $500 I refused and towed my car to other shop. When i saw the invoice details they charged me the labor $474.44 for only a piece of plastic that can be changed in minutes. Definitely I won't go there anymore.

Was driving home during the most recent winter storm with snow coming down and ice all over the roads, when something punctured my tire and it was losing air fast. I pulled into the Pep Boys in Malvern, desperate for help. They fixed the tire, refilled it, and had me on my way in 30 minutes. And for a really low price too. Can't thank them enough! They really bailed me out of that situation!

My car overheated while I was on my way to work about 2.5 miles from the shop. I managed to get it there slowly but surely. I believe bill was the first guy I spoke to said they were a little busy morning but would get to it in the afternoon. I was ok with that since I had to go to work which was right down the road. Got a call it was my heater hoses 2 of them needed to be replaced. I spoke to the mechanic Jake several times and let me tell you forget about Jake from State Farm Jake from pep boys was very accommodating and honest. He really helped me out and appreciate everything he did for me. I can tell this shop really care about their customers. Can't say enough about the service I received. Thanks again guys.

I normally don't write reviews, but thought I should share this story about a simple oil change: I didn't have time to change my own oil, so I decided to use this shop and requested a full-synthetic oil change with my vehicle, and was charged for the additional fee for the more expensive oil which I fully expected and agreed to. Synthetic oil lasts 7,500 - 15,000 miles on average. After only 5,500 miles I received a oil alert message on my car. After further inspection on my part, they installed a cheap small oil filter and my oil level was dangerously low. Keep in mind, I do not have any oil leaks in my vehicle, the shop must have miscalculated the amount that should have been put in, and I'm not even sure if they utilized the synthetic type I had requested. If they can't handle an oil change, I'd be wary of utilizing this shop for other services.

Counter service was lacking and uncaring of disservice to customer. 4 tires to be replaced was given an estimate of 1.5 hrs to replaced even with a pre existing appointment time, which made absolutely no difference as to when work started. Work started 2 hours later than the appointment time and finished almost 2 hours after the original estimate. There was no communication of any delay, knowing the customer was waiting and not dropping the car off. At least one other vehicle, a walk-in arriving just before I arrived, for a tire replacement, was serviced and completed before service on my vehicle had begun, making the appointment seem useless. When arriving at the counter after 1.75 hours initial wait time the service manager seemed full of excuses and was unapologetic as to having to wait an additional hour or more to complete the job of replacing all 4 tires. While making technical strides to inform customers Pep Boys seems to have missed the mark on letting them know that there was a delay in initial time estimates and employees being apologetic in any way shape or form - ‘hey… sorry you had to wait around so long.’

RE-CALIBRATE YOUR ALIGNMENT RACK. Had and alignment here last week and was told my front wheels has +2/-2 Camber. Took the car to an alignment specialist and they said it was fine and that this Pep Boys Rack needs recalibration. People here are nice but I wonder now how many people have been given wrong/false alignment readings and had to get things “repaired” when it was not needed. Sorry but I will not come here again for an alignment.

Just a heads up for residents in the area. I recently went to Pep Boys in Malvern to get my car inspected (mistake #1 but I waited until the last minute) I received a call about 4 hours later saying I needed tires (my tires were only 2 years old but ok) and I was also told that my battery was bad. So I told them to do the tires but skip the battery (I’m not paying labor charges to install a battery). Once I arrived to pick up my car, I paid went to where my car was parked in the lot, turned the key and nothing happened not even a click, I popped the hood and saw that my positive terminal was disconnected and folded back away from the terminal. I went inside quite upset because they had to drive it out to the lot THEN disconnect the battery. I told the clerk that what he was allowing was dishonest if not illegal. Had I been older or not known better they would expect me to go in and say ok it won’t start replace the battery. I will not be bringing them anymore business!

Best Pep Boys location we have experienced. Employee Bill was great. He was awesome at communicating. We were expecting to need several things on our Chrysler 300 since it had 83k miles and ongoing tire pressure issues. We dropped our car off for inspection and oil change after ours. They called first thing in the morning and had all the work done by mid day (oil change, alignment, new tires, brakes and rotars.) Husband felt all these were warranted maintenance. Based on what the dealership charged us for inspection and something very minor last year, I think we got off cheaper here than the dealership. We've used them in the past also and have always had a good experience at this location.

I’ve been going here since moving from Cleveland and shame on me for not sharing the love. The staff is helpful and pricing is more than fair. Why review now? A year ago I got a new battery form them and it went the way of the dodo yesterday. Came in and within 20min I had a warranty replacement. No muss and no arguments, no well you didn’t come in weekly to get things maintained. Just here is the new battery and sorry for the trouble. Look things happen, even good products fail, it’s all how you respond to those events. And these guys did it professionally and had real empathy for the impact it had on me and my day. Made me feel supported as a trusted vendor. You should be checking them out and getting the same level of service if you aren’t getting it elsewhere. A special shout out to Tim for your customer service with me and the other 3 people you dealt with before the store closed for the night.

Definitely recommend this place. Nice customer service both Tim and Joe (manager and assistant manager) really friendly and got my car fixed in no time. One of my car tire is having issues took it to shop did a quick check and told there are 2 nails. Fixed it the very next day in minutes. If you want to get the quality of work for what you are paying go to this place. Definitely a 5 star.
