I honestly went here because Queen City Recycling was closed, but I am very disappointed in the prices first off, the prices are so low. Not even half of what you could get at another place. The service at the cashier’s office was very slow, I was waiting for about 20 minutes for one person. I don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime again.
I occasionaly sell metals here. They are fair and friendly. Their boss/manager seems to be a good guy and thats why the employees are happy. On Friday I was fortunate to enjoy their Christmas lunch and it was good. Too many sides. I prefer the summer cookout, burgers, hot dogs, bbq. That being said, the dessert was amazing, the chocolate puffs.
CMC Charlotte is by far my favorite scrap yard. Great people, EASY layout, no mud, debris is regularly swept so you don’t have to worry about your tires like every other scrap yard.
Great experience there today. Very helpful and nice. Just tell them your new there and they’ll explain everything. Friendliest scrapyard I’ve ever been too by far.
I scrapped water heaters and they lable it "shredder tin" for 2.5 cents a pound. This is scrap steele and the going rate is 6-7 cents per pound. I literally sold heaters earlier and received 7 a lb. at another yard. When I said it was mislabeled, I was told it wasn't and I probably shouldn't have been paid that much for water heaters. I'm not going to argue for $10 , but I will never come back!
Usually fair with metal and they run a clean and tidy shop. They are also well organized, so even long lines are only a short wait. They also do things for clients pretty regularly. Today I got surprised by a totally free customer appreciation cookout, so I got paid AND fed
Not very helpful ended up getting taken care of but started at one place got sent across the street after told to back in to a picker he said take that s*** across the street exact words had to go back to office to find out exactly what to do since it was my first time there definitely left with a feeling of wish I could find a place that would be my home for metal recycling.
Outstanding experience in getting our copper, batteries, and wire dropped off and weighed in for a fair price. Definitely my new go to place whenever I have recycling needs.
I have been going to CMC Charlotte for 3 years after utilizing a number of other recycling companies. Jill C has been my metal recycling rep for over 12 years and I followed her to CMC. I cannot say enough great things about Jill and CMC. All of the staff are great to deal with, and knowledgeable with all our different metals. The process of getting unloaded, processed and paid is very convenient. The prices are exceptional and fair. Thank you Jill for taking such good care of us for all these years. We look forward to many more years with Jill and CMC.
First time coming in with semi/trailer. No signs which driveway to enter. Had to make ridiculous turn around with obstacles all around. Then, they tell you theres another driveway to enter to go over scale. Once loaded coming onto tight scale that weighs full weight not axle by axle. Condescending older man comes out of scale door berates you about not checking axles you as you come onto scale. Treats you like some new driver or his distaste for drivers in general. Little does he know my tandems were fine as I looked at freight after loading and trailer half full. I've been over a thousand crummy scales like theirs and never rely on their weights always go to cat scale. Pretty pathetic place.
Let me start off by saying the customer service was truly amazing they treat you like family . I was a first time customer here not only did I learn more about scrap I signed up for the text program also received a chick fil a gift card and a extra 50 cent a pound long story short if you have scarp this is the only place in charlotte to visit .
(1st timer) The ENTIRE staff here was so helpful and nice. I didn't expect an experience like that at a recycling center. I could immediately tell that they value their customers, and that goes a long way nowadays. The smallest things makes the biggest difference.
I had some scrap metal and shelving to get rid of. First time here. I didn't get to grab her name but the woman at the cashier's office was very helpful and friendly. She came out side to show me how to collect my money as well. Then she gave me a chick fil-a gift card for being a first time customer. I'm pretty excited about that!! The woman taking care of the weigh in station was also very nice and helpful. Great staff over all and a pleasant experience. Thank you.
My dad wanted me to take our bad lead acid battery cores to napa and drop them off for free to his friend.. all 20 of them. Now I know why. 14 cents a lb and I had just under 1000 lbs.
CMC treated me with respect and was informative about what metals they took and also answered some of my questions.
I got 100 bucks for all my batteries and 1st time customer THEY BOUGHT ME LUNCH AT CHIK FIL A!!! 5/5 STARS FOR CMC!! I will be bringing my recycling metal and batteries to them for cash from now on. THANKS GUYS FOR THE GREAT EXPERIENCE!!
John Stewart and his team are really great people. He does his best to accommodate schedules and needs-I literally had a 24 hour turnaround time, and he adapted to it with no complaints at all. This company is stellar.

Not your typical recycling facility with gruff personnel acting like they're doing you a favor by taking your scrap. Wish I'd found this place sooner!
Nice place,friendly staff. Only downside is. It would be nice to know you close an hour for lunch. It doesn't State this on the website. I would suggest fixing this to better serve your customers
Really excellent. Pays more. Huge, clean new facility that gets you in and out quickly. Honest. Nice people. Classy outfit. Your vehicle tires are not threatened. You are unloaded inside, out of the weather. Why would ANYone go anywhere else?
