Have used these guys a few times now and have been a great experience every time! Had an axle and wheel bearing replaced, brakes done all around, and was given clear explanations of their process and pricing each time with no issues at all. Last week, I discovered a slow leak in one of my truck tires. Looked up local places, and brought my truck here. They repaired the tire promptly, efficiently and with courtesy. The cost was very reasonable, as well. Highly recommended.
Traveling from out of town for a long weekend I noticed my car just wasn’t idling right, before I knew my check engine light was on and I was stalling out at stop signs. Three hours from home on a Thursday night. On Friday morning I called with my situation and they said they had a full schedule but if I brought it by they could run the computer and see what the problem was. They did just that. It turned out to be an air hose that wasn’t reconnected properly after if had recent service done on my car. They just reconnected it, tightened up the collar and all set. A quick fix right in their parking lot, and all they wanted from me was a few bucks for their time. Very lucky to have found these guys! You saved my weekend!
On Monday 6/12 at about 2:30.I was at one of the convenience centers when my truck would not go in gear. I called a friend and he suggested Grease Monkey Garage. I called them and spoke to Jimmy. I asked him if he could take a look at my truck. He said that he could. They had just fixed a similar problem last week. I had it towed to Grease Monkey about an hour later. I called the next morning to check in with him. He advised that is was a broken Transmission gear shifter. He advised he would order two kinds to make sure he had the correct one. I would not have to pay for two if not needed. On Wednesday 6/14 at around 12:30 Jimmy called to let me know my truck was repaired. I was really pleased that it had been taken care of so promptly. I did not have a way to go pick it up. Jimmy said he would not leave me stranded and came to my house and picked me up. The honesty,customer service and very reasonable pricing made this a very positive experience. Jimmy and the crew at Grease Monkey Garage are truly an asset to Ashe County and surrounding area. If I could give more than 5 stars. I would.

Our van had an intermittent check engine light that was related to the catalytic converter. Instead of replacing the cat and/or sensors, they told us to try a $25 bottle of Cataclean first and bring it back if that didn't do the trick. Grease Monkey was right, it has been a couple of weeks and no more check engine light!
We took our van back in because the latest road trip did a couple of the engine mounts in, and not only was the price to replace them very reasonable they noticed that the hose connecting the air intake to the engine had multiple holes in it so unfiltered air is getting to the engine. 😱 They called my partner to let us know and made it really clear that while they can replace the hose, it is just 2 clamps and is something we could do instead if we wanted to.
Additionally while picking up our van, Grease Monkey took a customer call and let the other customer know that whatever they had brought the vehicle in for was fixed, but that their oil filter cap hadn't been properly tightened and a bunch of oil leaked. No big deal but it was x-amount for the shop to replace the leaked oil or it would be cheaper to pick up some on the way.
TLDR: not only does Grease Monkey do great work, they actively look for ways to save customers money. From avoiding expensive repairs to giving us the option to do the simple repairs if there is a way to save you money they will give you that option.
I moved here in West Jefferson two years ago from Charlotte and found Grease Monkey Garage glad I did. By far the best vehicle repair and maintenance I’ve ever used. These guys are honest, Jimmy is the the best explaining maintenance and your vehicle needs. Highly recommend Grease Monkey Garage.
Had my battery go bad, called em up and within 30 minutes I had a brand new battery. Took them all of 10 minutes to replace it, and charged me a fair price.
It's difficult to find mechanics that are completely trustworthy and affordable. Grease Monkey Garage is both. Yay!!! Also, they were fast, which I so appreciate.
I would NOT recommend. We took my husband's car here to get it fixed. We spent 565 dollars and they repaired 2 axles. A few days later his vehicle locked up on him on his way home from work causing him to almost wreck. I called them back and they said "it was nothing they had done. It can happen with used cars where we can pull it off the lot and the same day something else goes wrong." I took it to another shop and turns out a bolt was completely stripped and the roters were shot. I guess because I am a woman, they think I'm incompetent. Don't waste your money!
I'm telling you right now,if you want your vehicle done right and in a timely manner take it to "Grease Monkey Garage", These cat's got it going on... My wife recently started working in West Jefferson and I had no idea where to go or who I could trust for her vehicle servicing...these guys were recommended by some of her staff...took a chance on these guys and they do not disappoint... extremely satisfied... Was in West Jefferson on vacation when my rear brake caliper failed ruining the pads and rotor. They worked me in and got me fixed in one day so we could continue our vacation. They were professional and courteous. Price was reasonable. Thank you!!
I got an alignment and brake pads/rotors done. They were friendly and clearly cared about doing a good job. There was an issue with the rotors they installed at first, and they caught it before I left by test driving the vehicle before handing back the keys (which most shops wouldn’t do). They got another set of rotors and actually gave me a higher quality for the same price. Left a few hours later and everything seems great. Also, I paid 2/3 the price another shop charged me about 6 months ago. Best shop in the area

I would not hesitate to bring my car to Grease Monkey. Of utmost importance to me is that i can trust them to be honest. I have gone to them 3 or 4 times for unrelated issues and each time they resolved those problems and at reasonable cost, saving me money when possible. The work is always completed in a timely fashion. They also are kind, courteous, and friendly.
I am relatively new to The area, and my pastor recommended them and i am very pleased. Without hesitation i will return again and again, and highly recommend them.

These guys were GREAT! Check engine light came on yesterday with the code indicating a misfire on cylinder 4. We are from out of town, so we called our trusted mechanic at home and asked what he'd do, how much it would cost, and how long it would take. We took the car to Grease Monkey Garage this morning, and they were SPOT ON on all of those items! Extremely friendly, highly capable, and exceedingly honest. They got us back on the road this morning in about half an hour. We would highly recommend!

After I was deceived by another lazy mechanic back home (Charleston, SC) for my pre-vacation vehicle check, I found myself in Jefferson with some failing rear wheel bearings. In a frantic scramble to fix the problem, Grease Monkey Garage stepped up and was able to work with my wife and myself to get our Outback into the shop that morning. Jimmy, behind the desk, was so very helpful and accommodating to our situation. Even found cheaper replacement parts after our initial quote. Additionally, they found that my rear brakes and rotors were about gone too, and recommended replacing them because the labor was free (since the rear tires were already off for the bearings). My wife and I now feel SO much safer driving on these winding mountain roads!
Grease Monkey Garage took a potentially vacation-ruining incident and turned it into a pleasant inconvenience. I highly recommend them if you need honest, thorough, and quick repairs.
